Certainly more dramatic than a burst pipe. ‘Fisherman and the Siren’ Knut Ekwall {{PD}}

1 AM PDT of the 25th the Gemini Moon squares Pallas. What we’re thinking may be at odds with what’s wise–let feelings break the tie. 3 AM PDT the Moon fills in the base to a Finger of God with Black Moon Lilith, apex Pluto. It’s time to look at emotional secrets, those things we’d hoped to keep hidden, and deal with them for good; the payoff will be a clean slate, and maybe a little power. 9 AM PDT the Moon trines Zeus; our intuition supports our ambitions, and act as an excellent guide. 11 AM PDT the Moon sextiles Uranus and trines Mars. We act (or talk about acting) but surprise ourselves or others with the unexpected, the innovative, or the original. Go with it. 1 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes Saturn and squares Chiron. We may find ourselves adjusting the surroundings to fit our wounds; protect yourself, but realize too much coddling may actually prevent healing. 5:30 PM PDT the Moon trines Vesta-Ceres. We connect with what’s important to us through feeling–and behind that we find power.

Today’s image is a burst pipe. This brings to mind the unexpected gush of emotion, the kind of feeling that overwhelms and simply won’t be contained. There is something that is nearing this point with you, something you feel strongly about–and haven’t adequately expressed. Find it and let it out, before any damage is done.

21 June we enter a period when passion overtakes hesitancy, reticence, and possibly common sense. We believe in ourselves, in our instincts, in our ambitions, and in our ability to love, and all this equips us extraordinarily well to go forward, as long as we are connected with our own instincts and harbor no hidden destructive tendencies or rage. Those are some important conditions at this time; lack of success springs directly from going forward without following instinctual prompts, or if we are in denial about an angry agenda that seeps in and poisons the well of our efforts. Thoughts and the mentality itself may go ‘round in a circle, as we could think compulsively about what we’d like to avoid. Remember, fixating on what we don’t want will have the opposite effect, drawing it straight to us. Our attention shifts at this time to what we nurture and care about, and physical energy is deployed most effectively in disciplined, contained, constructive efforts that have us coloring, at least most of the time, within the lines. (Perfecting today: Jupiter sextile Sedna, Mars conjunct Zeus, Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto, Mercury semi-square Black Moon Lilith, Sun into Cancer/ Earth into Capricorn)

19 June we may find we must temper our originality and uniqueness in order to maintain or attain empowerment; somehow we don’t have enough clout to express totally as we might please. This may be the ‘starter’ for the seed planted with the Inferior Conjunction; out of frustration at not being able to show our uniqueness without consideration for the empowerment structure or our own status, we will start efforts in a new direction, one that promises more freedom than ever before. (Perfecting today: Uranus semi-square Juno, Sun in Inferior Conjunction with Mercury)

Today’s image is a bowl of cinnamon hearts that have been there so long they’ve melded into one stuck-together mass of candy! Let’s take ‘hearts’ to stand for relationships; sometimes we stay with people because of the sweetness of the interaction, but sometimes we stick together out of nothing more than inertia and proximity. This is a good time to take a look at the relationships in our lives, and to see clearly whether we are there because it’s sweet, or there because we haven’t bothered to move on.

'The Sense of Sight' Philip Mercier c1746 {{PD}}

‘The Sense of Sight’ Philip Mercier c1746 {{PD}}

4 AM PDT of the 16th the Aquarius Moon opposes Black Moon Lilith. We may perceive a real distance between our innermost compulsions and temptations and our intellectual understanding of what it is that we need. The best approach to level ground between the two may be to translate those needs through the intuition–skip what you think and go with what you feel. 7:30 AM PDT the Moon trines Mars. Taking action or making choices is easy–the mind is clear on the direction we’d like to take, in spite of Merc’s retro status–or perhaps, because of that apparent backward motion, the mind gets out of its own way that much more easily. If we need cooperation from others, now’s the time to ask. 10:30 AM PDT the Moon trines Zeus. The emotional reactions support the ambitions and desires–without conflict within the feeling nature, we can pursue our wants at twice the usual speed and efficiency. Noon the Moon sextiles Uranus. Spontaneity that rises from our mood can bring surprising and enlightening experiences. 2 PM PDT the Moon trines Vesta, squares Saturn, and semi-sextiles Chiron. Something in the reality scenario gets in the way of us being able to honor those causes to which we’re dedicated, or to spend adequate time on the home front or with the mate–and this results in some hurt, our own or someone else’s. Find out if what you honor is impractical in real-world terms (and so doesn’t fit the reality scenario–if, in other words, what you’re pretending to honor is contradicted by the actual life you’ve built around you) or if the surroundings or commitments need to be modified to allow you to dedicate sufficient time and energy to those things that really matter. 5 PM PDT the Moon trines Ceres, offering us the cooperation or assistance of authorities or harmony between our own feelings and our expressions of power. 10 PM PDT the Moon squares Venus. Relationships may erupt in conflict as one or both parties rely on the intellect in matters that should rely on the heart.

Today’s image is a magnifying glass. Look closely; the details are very important right now.

Seeking Advice During Mercury Retrograde

This is a re-print from 2008 I thought might be helpful now–

Just a reminder that, in these tough times when so many of us are looking for effective guidance, we must remember that most basic of admonitions: seek advice from those who really know. Sometimes we lose the logical connection during a Mercury retrograde; we forget that the proof is in the ‘life pudding,’ so to speak. Does it make sense to ask for relationship advice from someone who can’t sustain one? or to ask financial advice from someone who can’t make a living? how about health advice from someone who is not able to resolve their own health issues in a timely way? No, it doesn’t make sense at all; but we can easily forget this in the midst of Mercury retrograde, when we feel a lot of pressure to decide, get things done/ going, to make up our minds; this might be an especially pressing issue for those experiencing a hard transit from Mars right now. If we use our intuition in seeking advice, we’ll do well–as long as it’s truly our intuition speaking, and not our agitated and frustrated mental faculties as they struggle against the retrograde tide.

Are we requiring perfection of those who offer guidance, formally or informally? Not at all; nor should we–learning comes through experience. But to seek, say, financial advice from those struggling to make ends meet makes no sense–if one can’t do ‘it,’ whatever it is, for themselves, then how can they advise others? It’s the same in any area–would you call an electrician to handle a plumbing problem? You see my point. (This also implies that the individual has some asset they could and probably should exploit, that’s being ignored in favor of something else, likely something that is feeding the ego, and little else).

What about those who offer advice but are not truly up to the task? I have a theory about what people choose to do in life; they either choose to do something they’re really good at, or they choose to do the very thing they actually need done for them. I realized this when I met a nurse who desperately desired nurture from the Universe; and she wasn’t a very good nurse!

This doesn’t mean that we avoid learning new functions, or that we only undertake what we are already competent with; it does mean that we don’t ‘practice’ on others until we are very clear about ourselves.

Feeling, Knowing, and Reconciling the Two: The Sagittarius Full Moon, June 2014

'Morning Awakening' Eva Gonzales 1876 {{PD}}

‘Morning Awakening’ Eva Gonzales 1876 {{PD}}

Full Moon in Sagittarius at 9:11 PM PDT of the 12th at 22 Sag 05

The Full Moon forms the apex of a Finger of God with base of Jupiter-Sedna, with no other aspects falling within our strict three (at most!) degree orb. This promises a culmination of a matter related to the House in which this FM falls in the natal chart, an ending with a Sagittarian theme. The involved energies, Jupiter, Sedna, and the Moon, in themselves contradict one another: where Jupiter is about accumulated knowledge, Sedna and the Moon are about feeling, especially the kind of feeling that is pre-verbal, instinctive, and reactive; where Jupiter is about sharing and getting the word out, Sedna and the Moon are involved in the personal experience, and those experiences are of the kind that may never be shared with others; Jupiter represents the external and exotic, those things in the world we might visit or learn about, things that expand our Universe, while Sedna and the Moon represent internal qualities and a landscape only we can see and visit. Aligned as they are in a Finger, we can gather that a meeting of that external, Jupiterian, knowledge-based circumstance and the internal, instinct-guided, Sedna-type of knowledge and awareness (which are typically consciously hidden from us and make up our ‘blind spot’) will, if successfully achieved, result in an emotional ending or culmination. Keep in mind, though, that the Moon is also a principal indicator of the passage of time, so that this ending (Full Moon) may not actually have an emotional component, but may instead simply indicate a closing out of a particular period, and so represent the passage of time, or possibly a sense of satisfaction gained by successful utilization of both sides of the base energies.

This is an excerpt from the current ECLIPSE–to see what’s included and order, go here–and Happy Full Moon!

Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin - Le garçon de cave 1738 {{PD}}

Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin – Le garçon de cave 1738 {{PD}}

10 June relationships offer wisdom, or we recognize what a smart connection we’ve made, and we can make good financial decisions as well, though in all instances involving Venusian energies, we must adjust our expression to fit our ultimate goals—what comes automatically won’t serve our ambitions very well. Just be aware that talk right now is big, as is the scale on which we’re thinking—and with Merc retro, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming, as long as we’re not attempting to put together plans. (Venus parallel Pallas and quincunx Zeus, Mercury parallel Jupiter)

Today’s image is that last dirty dish that you just can’t seem to fit into the dishwasher. Though a feeling of total cleanliness and order is desirable (just about every commercial promises this, don’t they?) real life has lots of loose ends. Learn to allow a little disorder, a little dirt, without attaching any moral judgment or sense of failure to it. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, “Obsessive is as obsessive does.” Nobody needs that much Pluto!

Painting by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, depicting a scene from Kalevala, a Finnish epic poem. The warrior Lemminkainen had been killed, his body hacked to pieces and thrown into the dark river that flows through the underworld, Tuonela. His mother, having collected the parts from the river and sewing them back together, looks up to see a single bee bringing back honey from the halls of the god Ukko, a wondrous ointment that would bring her son to life. This suggests Lilith as a mother, the lengths and dark depths to which she would go for her child, and the projection of the (sacrilegious) idea of taking resurrection into her own hands.

Painting by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, depicting a scene from Kalevala, a Finnish epic poem. The warrior Lemminkainen had been killed, his body hacked to pieces and thrown into the dark river that flows through the Underworld. His mother, having collected the parts from the river and sewn them back together, looks up to see a single bee bringing back honey from the halls of the god Ukko, a wondrous ointment that would bring her son to life. This suggests Lilith as a mother, the lengths and dark depths to which she would go for her child, and the projection of the (sacrilegious) idea of taking resurrection into her own hands.

A Little on Lilith

Lilith is an attractor—it’s one of those qualities we almost hate to recognize in her, as it’s so much easier to call her a bad girl; we’re so much more comfortable dismissing her as a problem, rather than recognizing that there are things about her that draw us to her, things we might like to have or be ourselves. She is said to sleep with demons—but isn’t that what a patriarchy that had been defied would say about the one who defied it? It’s undeniable that her dark qualities have a hypnotic pull; she is the shadowy alley we enter, the deep beyond the cliff’s edge that tempts us to step over, the lightless closet into which we reach, because we want to know. That was said to be Eve’s sin, a desire to know; it’s also said that Lilith returned to the Garden of Eden as the serpent who famously offered the Apple of Knowledge to Eve, hesitant, I-came-from-the-rib-not-made-of-an-equal-portion-of-creation-‘dust’-as-was-his-first-wife. Lilith is something more: she’s the woman (or the anima in men) that knows who she is: an equal to anyone else, in that most important sense of the word, the one describing our equality at the level of our basic humanity—and by seeing herself as equal, she succeeds in claiming equal rights, she succeeds in claiming the right to know, and asks permission from no one to do so.

What is Lilith’s real power? In demanding equality she became a screen for projection of all that the social sphere deemed undesirable—and so Lilith may speak much more of the power others attribute to those things they think they are not; she is a catch-all for everything deemed ugly and wrong, everything termed degrading to the feminine ideal within a culture. But with high Self-esteem as her hallmark, the source of her compelling and attractive nature may lie within us: she is an attractor because she has declared herself free and equal in a way we all desire to be, as well.

7 June our empowerment options come instinctively—either we know what to do, or we just don’t. Those who routinely block the unconscious will feel lost. Relationships and/ or finances get in the way of making uninhibited choices or taking action freely, and we may find ourselves resenting what we otherwise really need and want in our lives—the other possibility is that we find ourselves uncomfortable or unhappy trying to accommodate someone we love, or the needs of our pocketbook. We are sure of our values and what we’re dedicated to, and this clears the mental arena and makes perceptions unusually sharp (barring the empowerment/ unconscious conundrum) (Perfecting today: Juno conjunct Sedna, Venus quincunx Mars, Sun trine Vesta and parallel Mercury)

Today’s image is an early summer garden already overrun with growth. Though some might see this as evidence of abundance, it can be overwhelming for a gardener–too much to do! This image corresponds to what a great many of us have been going through lately–too much happening in our lives to handle all at once. What we need to remind ourselves of is that all this new growth is good, that it offers us tremendous choice, that it will mature at its own rate, and that all we need to do is keep our eye on what we really care about.

8 June beauty may blossom in some ugly places, and amazing transformations may, for one day, become routine. Relationships or financial situations may alter in a heartbeat—but if one or the other does change, it won’t be something you weren’t able to anticipate if you are honest with yourself. In fact, that may be the theme today: honesty brings reward, even if that reward is only that one knows the truth, especially in terms of resources or with others. That’s actually good, as it’s clear the reality picture needs modification, especially as this applies to how and where what we’ve learned from our wounds, or our Chirotic skills, may be better employed. (Perfecting Today: Venus trine Pluto, Sun quincunx Saturn, Chiron square Sun-Earth axis)

The Moon enters Virgo at 7:20 AM PDT of the 4th. 11 AM PDT the Virgo Moon sextiles Mercury. It may be easy to allow simple talk to slide into criticism-but then again, critical faculties are in shape. Focus them consciously, to avoid nit-picking. 5 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Pallas. Wisdom and guidance can be found in emotion, while skills can almost be acquired intuitively! 9 PM PDT the Moon opposes Neptune. We may reject the creative option for the one we can control–or, we are solidly married to the facts; fiction doesn’t stand a chance. 11 PM PDT the Moon trines Venus. The perfect time for accounting chores or relationship ones that deal with responsibilities.

Today’s word image is a small vial of oil, forgotten at the back of a cupboard and discovered again; removing the stopper, it smells of crushed roses. Expect the re-discovery of or reconnection with something you ‘put away’ a long time ago–and the connection may be stirred through scent.

2 June we find our worth through avenues of empowerment, through Self-expression that lets us have an impact on our life or our environment, but we need to be aware that the well-lighted path before us has a few dark, crooked corners that we just can’t see yet—be prepared.
