Around 5 PM PDT of the 17th the Leo Moon moves into a unique position: she ends up filling in a Fist of God as she squares the Sun (apex Pluto) and the Earth (apex Uranus). This double fist suggests an excessive amount of action and/ or tension in play, with the emotions or intuition fueling identity issues the result in change, transformation, or destruction, and with emotions or intuition fueling reaction to material matters that creates radicalism, upset, revolution, or that spurs originality and ‘forward thinking’. It’s certainly a day when anything really can happen–be ready.

18 May we may find ourselves and others hedging bets; relationships sparkle with surprises and ‘fresh’ interaction, but carry depths of danger, rage, or a serious interest in creating change, while communication is deceptive, confusing, or centered on fantasies, and even the most direct and honest of us will land slightly askew of reality. Caution will come naturally to most of us as we sense the riptide beneath otherwise gentle social and emotional currents. Accept the positive while remaining aware that shocks, deception, and some scary depths could wait just around the corner. (Venus sextile Uranus, quincunx Pluto, Mercury square Neptune, quincunx Saturn)

A little bit of Lunar essence for Sunday the 19th, also from ECLIPSE:

3 AM PDT of the 19th the Moon opposes Chiron, either making us hard as steel (“Nothing can hurt me!”) or melding us so completely with our pain we feel we are one. In either case, our best course of action is to ask ourselves ‘why?’–why do we hurt from this? why do we continue to live this moment as if it’s still happening? why don’t we let it go? 9 AM PDT the Moon trines the South Node and quincunxes Juno. Something from the past may cause us to stumble in implementing our own empowerment; take a critical stance, don’t just accept memories as accurate or still valid. 6 PM PDT the Moon squares Jupiter and trines Mars, making us keen to act but perhaps rubbing the social circle the wrong way. We are likely to be critical of others in justifying our own actions, but we need to remember, no justification is required, though we do need to make choices we can live with later. 9:30 PM PDT the Moon trines Sedna, pulling us deep into contemplation or Self-reflection, or blanking us out in escape mode. Neither is more virtuous, though we should keep in mind that if we’ve been avoiding looking closely at ourselves, now really is the time, as something productive will come out of it.

16 May either we can’t make contact with our brains, or we are able to plunge deep into the psyche and come up with immense understanding–there’s no in between. We toy with the idea that it might be smart to modify or disregard some portion of our highest values, or to not look too closely at the effect of our choices on the intimate relationship or the home. Wrong! That’s just a bad idea, and likely leads us into erratic, fringe behavior or into dark places we’d rather (with good reason) not go. If we’re not fighting ourselves and our own principles we’re fighting the crowd or the group–and will not in any instance come out the winner.

With the Sun conjunct Sedna today, we have only two options, really: either we delve deep within in a kind of psychic revery that lets us explore our deepest recesses, promising significant Self-discovery but that removes us from effective interaction, or we ‘blank out’ the inner life and work with reflective surfaces only, bright shiny things that catch our attention and keep us integrated with the world. Neither is a superior stance; some need that time for Self-reflection, while others, for one reason or another, are better suited to dealing with the business of the day, leaving the Soul-searching for another time. The world keeps turning, and things and people keep moving–we can’t all retreat for a contemplative bout at once. How do you know which you should engage in? You don’t need to know, it will come upon you. Some will straddle the two worlds, and connect them, and some will spend one part of the day ‘above ground’ and one part ‘below’–but by the time the Sun has moved on from Sedna we will have discovered something new, either within us, or in our interaction with the world, and that bit of knowledge will be important in informing future choice and reactions.

From ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest: 11 May Mercury and the Sun meet in Superior Conjunction, and both conjunct Pallas–let’s call it a ‘Wisdom Bomb’! Not that it blows anything up, though there is the chance that we’ll get rid of any ingrained stupidity we’ve been holding on to as a nostalgic contrivance, a habit, or a ‘really bad decision’ we felt we couldn’t go back on–until now. Today lets us see how foolish so much of what we fuss about really is, and it shows us ways we can streamline, improve, and advance our lives–and it’s up to us to use what we learn–merely receiving the message isn’t enough.

On the 12th, the Void begins at 6:34 AM PDT; the Moon enters Cancer at 2:57 AM PDT of the 13th.  Though there are lots more details in ECLIPSE, this is what we need to know: we just can’t plan on anything going as we anticipate it will. Going in knowing that will make us more alert, more cautious, and perhaps coach us to put off meaningful choices (and especially meaningful talk) for another time–which would be a very good idea.

10 May sees one very interesting aspect form: the Sun conjuncts Pallas. Enlightenment is almost assured; the question will be, Will we accept what we see/ are shown? What’s illuminated is important, but we may not recognize this as true–in fact, this ‘spotlight’ was necessary because we’d done such a good job of looking away from the subject or issue. We must also remember that this conjunction happens in the shadow cast by the eclipse, and is in actuality part of the eclipse–and that likely means that, sometime after the event, we will experience a moment of clarity, when something that affects the material (Taurus placement), that involves the practical or what is wise (Pallas) will shine through–it will be quite obvious what should be done, what our best response is–but will we do it? That may hang on the revelations made manifest by the eclipse; the ‘job’ of the Solar eclipse is to bring something new or game-changing to our consciousness, so that this is an extension of it, a test of how sincerely we accept and are willing to act on the messages the Universe delivers.

Venus entered Gemini this morning Pacific time at 8:04 AM, and made no, yes I said no, immediate aspects. A planet off on its own like that, freshly into a new way of expressing, will generally take that form and run with it. Relationships, artistic expression, finances, and those subjects of Houses with Gemini on the cusp in the individual natal chart, as well as those in Venus-ruled Houses, and those issues related to bodies posited in Taurus and Libra, are likely engaged in a chatty, effusive, information-filled communing fest; thoughts race, concentration suffers just a little, and ideas are almost literally bouncing off everything and everyone around us. Fun, but tiring, and a bit frustrating for the goal-oriented or those under serious Saturn or Pluto transits–they may resort to desperate, pulling teeth sorts of interaction–and are probably surprised when their ‘victims’ up and run away, first chance!

This lasts through sometime on the 13th, when Venus makes her first aspect, a square to Neptune. At that time we can expect relationships, finances, or values to conflict with the creative urge; we’ll find out what the cost is of implementing our imagination, or our dreams. Will we want to pay it? That’s an individual matter; the only thing we can be sure of is that there will be a price, and that we will need to seriously weigh the potentials of both sides of the equation (think them over, or maybe talk them over, with Venus in Gemini) before we choose.

The Solar eclipse occurs 9 May 2013 at 5:28 PM PDT at 19 Taurus 31, and like the Aries New Moon that occurred the preceding month, it is closely contained, with all involved parties spanning less than 7 degrees (we have Mars 5 degrees 2 minutes behind the New Moon in Taurus, but even for an eclipse, that seems too wide a margin–however, I am counting Sedna, 3 degrees 55 minutes ahead of the eclipse–of course, with the Moon and Sun moving to later degrees, it only makes sense to give a little more orb leeway in the direction the lights are headed). Everything else is outside our 2-3 degree maximum margin. That means that the square Juno presents to Mars, the South Node, Mercury, Moon, Sun, and Pallas will occur enough before the eclipse that we will see this conflict over empowerment, status, and authority as ‘setting the stage’ for the fresh starts of a NM, and the game-changers of an eclipse. The square suggests we’ll preface the eclipse with a clash that may disorient us, and certainly could take us into the suddenly withdrawn light of the eclipse wondering If we have the strength, authority, experience, or wisdom to pursue this particular path to empowerment.

The eclipse itself conjuncts the South Node, Mercury, Pallas, and Sedna, and makes no other aspects. The result may be a very concentrated energy ‘event’, though that event might extend over a period of hours, with repercussions or influence lasting through to the next Solar eclipse. If a New Moon is a beginning, and a Solar eclipse a point at which the two lights meet and the normally ‘submissive’ or subservient (by virtue of deriving its light from the Sun) Moon supersedes the Solar body temporarily, we may see the birth of something of which we are at first unaware, which may derive from matters on the fringe or from the unconscious. We are assured by the presence of Pallas that what is conceived at this time is guided by wisdom or practical considerations, and perhaps the knowledge we’ve gained in the past (SN)–but we are dealing with material commodities (Taurus) and the lady is a Warrior (Pallas)–so we should not expect a gentle birth. Sedna says we likely bring something up from the depths of which we are currently unconscious–but that won’t last long–and what we may end up with is a message or new ‘thought’ on assets, talents, or material matters that informs our efforts in a fresh direction.

With this Solar eclipse we will, in some form, be contacting depths we’re not entirely conscious of, that naturally arise from the past–so we’re opening that bottled time, so to speak, and letting out something that sends us in a new, Taurean-themed, direction. When I just look at the current transit chart and move it through the weekend, two things stand out: the way the Sun and Mars move closer to opposition with Earth (always opposed the Sun!) and Saturn; and the way it starts today with Jupiter quincunx the North Node (a measured point, not a body, of course) and then by Sunday Pacific time Venus sort of inches into the picture by conjunction with the South Node. These are just impressions, aside from the ideas we get from a complete accounting of current in-orb transits and perfections to aspects that occur this weekend; think of it as an intuitive reading of what might predominate over the next three days, to be added to the aspect and Lunar inventory included in ECLIPSE.

So what do I see? Problems with energy utilization, a stop-and-go of clear, productive, and Soul-expressive urges that is somehow stymied, like traffic flow stopped by an accident that happens round the corner: your car isn’t moving, but you don’t know why–you have fuel, the car runs, but the way is blocked. And with Saturn in Scorpio and the aspect an opposition, we shouldn’t be surprised that the reasons for suppression or repression won’t be clear. I’m not sure there’s any way to combat this, other than to accept that you might not make as much or the kind of progress you would like to. It might be tempting to blame things on the social sphere, our education (or some missing component of it), on religious intolerance, on publishing or broadcasting snafus, on foreign entities, or on travel issues, personal or otherwise (all Jupiter, and to include the matters of the House Jupiter rules in your natal chart). By Sunday, though, we may get a little more perspective, and so be a little less judgy of ourselves and others, as things are presented through the eyes of those we love, through financial matters, through seeing our values in action, and particularly by recalling what was precious to us in the past (Venus-SN). The potential for an internal reconciliation is possible as the weekend goes on and Venus semi-sextiles Jupiter, possibly offering us a way to expand on those things we love or desire, as long as we are willing to modify gently (the quincunx) our thoughts and communications (Jupiter in Gemini) so that they respect both ‘what was’ and our relationships and values (Venus-SN).

I’m going to get right down to it, this time: the essence of the eclipse (12:57 PM PDT at 5 Scorpio 45) is that something surrounding this event will show us that what we once thought impossible is very, very possible. That can take many different forms, and is at the heart of today’s developments.
