Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, New Moon

The New Moon for October arrives at 11:43 AM PDT at 14 Libra 23. If we keep our usual strict 2 degree orb, an interesting pattern emerges, with asteroid Zeus conjunct the Sun and Moon, the Earth quincunx both Venus and Mars, and sesquiquadrate Pallas, and the Vertex of the New Moon chart square the New Moon in Cancer. Our New Moon is in Libra, sign of partnership and pleasantries, promising gracious interaction, co-operative ventures, and civilized interludes of action or romance, but that isn’t the picture provided by the aspects, suggesting that these Libran veneers will overlay something much more dynamic and passionate. The inclusion of Zeus suggests the New Moon as a birth point for strong ambitions and desires in matters of the natal House where this occurs, and/ or in matters of mating/ partners, co-operative efforts, the Arts, diplomacy, and in any area where one is trying to achieve a balance, internal or external. We should expect our wants to make themselves known, and our ambitions for ourselves or others (through the mechanism of partnership) to be very very clear. This inception point brings forward the inclination to realize (in a material form) our wants (Cardinal influence) and to desire/ require the partner’s support, or the general co-operation of others (Libra), and there may be a relatively unreasonable requirement to do it all politely, with big smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts–at least, that may be what the individual requires all others to do, as they push one-pointedly  toward goals–others are expected to co-operate! Some will become ambitious in relationship, making the big play to win the heart (or at least the surface co-operation) of the potential partner. All well and good, with a bout of ambitious boosterism and a strong push forward in making desires realities on the agenda for October, though we must be aware of what we might have to do (Earth aspect to Mars) and what it all might cost (Earth aspect to Venus)–Zeus can place want (and especially our lust for something) way above everything else.

For Libra-fresh mornings, get this sign on a mug! http://www.cafepress.com/dogandsunflower.470044671

But there’s more: Earth quincunxes Mars and Venus and sesquiquadrates Pallas, suggesting that in terms of the material, the vibe may be specifically balance/ imbalance oriented, with efforts to work it out between male and female, active and passive, outgoing and receptive, or energy may center in the matters of the Houses ruled by Mars and Venus in the natal chart. These may be the areas where a balancing act is required, with no real hope of resolution, as the middling ground must be sought and maintained, despite those Zeusian desires that would push results strongly in one direction or the other (see all about the meaning of Zeus here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ and also see more about this New Moon, ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in the Summer issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) The aspect to Pallas says that we may have to tinker with, or make allowances to, what we know to be wise in working this out–our traditional wisdom viewpoint may need some modification in the face of what’s presented.

Lastly we have the Vertex of the New Moon chart drawing a T-square with the Sun/ Moon/ Earth axis of the moment; this implies that fated matters may draw us off the course set by the New Moon axis, and this means that some will struggle to find balance and realize desires and ambitions, as something will inevitably interfere. One may reach out to make ‘it’ happen, only to find someone or something coming between the Self and the goals. In this instance my thought is that one must accept the hand of fate as a pronouncement of sorts, a statement that what one is striving for is not meant to be, at least not at this point. If we accept this, we take the struggle out of much of the period, and replace it with acceptance that lets us get a clear look at what we’re working with, and perhaps brings to light a new path–perhaps freeing us from the Sabian symbol for this New Moon.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon degree is both simple and infinitely complex: ‘Circular Paths’ This may emphasize the way our actions lead back repeatedly to the same spot (implying we must do something differently, to break the cycle, or that we need to accept that this is in some way is our destiny, inevitable), or may suggest the ‘All this has happened before, all this will happen again’ nature of the Universe, or may emphasize the completeness of any and all choice, as choices without doubt feed back upon themselves–a matter of realizing that choices don’t have consequences so much as keep us enclosed in a circuitous loop of reasoning, a way of making the world manageable and coherent–and that this isn’t negative, but may be limiting, and result in too narrow an experience (or too narrow desires, making us set our sights either too low or inappropriately, wasting our Zeusian rocket fuel!)

I must say that my ‘vacation’ has been anything but; many thanks to all of you, though, as your kind messages and heartfelt wishes helped so much to lighten the darker hours, and especially helped to make my birthday a special one!

ECLIPSE magazine, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Leo, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary

The Cancer Moon is between engagements at the moment, with her next contact not coming until 4:30 AM of the morrow PDT, and that with quincunxes to the very close conjunction (only 24 minutes apart, at that point) of Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius. Then we’ll see emotional pressure (or perhaps intuitive prompting) to deal with thoughts of hurtful fantasy, creative healing, or ideals and skills united and applied–your choice, if you’re conscious enough of the energy when it comes forward.

At the same time the Moon will trine Jupiter in Pisces and effectively create a Grand Trine with Jupiter and Pallas, with all components in Water. It’ll be like taking a Wisdom bath–will you open up to it, or perceive it as a distraction? This latter possibility is spurred by the Moon’s soon-to-perfect quincunx to Ceres, which for about half an hour makes a Finger of God with Moon apex and Chiron/ Neptune base, pointing out for us just how disaffected or misunderstood emotional energy might act as the outlet for unconsciously held Neptune/ Chiron energies. Avoiding both fooling oneself and dwelling on hurts is required for maximum, positive use of this energy.

By 6:30-ish AM PDT of the 2nd the Moon will square Vesta in Libra, implying a true emo conflict over values, the home, or the sex life (!), followed around 8 by the Moon’s aspects to Uranus, Pallas, Ceres, and Mercury. This excites a great deal of enthusiasm, mental energy, and the drive to take authority oneself and act–really, with some openness to adjustment, a tremendously positive energy to implement your own agenda.

Void begins 8:32 AM PDT of the 2nd, with the Moon entering Leo at 11:20 AM PDT. Then we see the Moon quincunx Pluto around 3 PM PDT, calling for adjustment of the emotional perceptions to something dark in our midst–this is very likely to have echoes of previous choices surrounding it, and reverberations we’re not yet aware of for the future (as the North Node moves steadily toward our anti-hero!)

Around 11 PM PDT the Leo Moon quincunxes the North Node and sextiles Saturn, perhaps asking us to accept reality and adjust our goals accordingly. The Moon sextiles the Sun in the 4 AM hour PDT, as if letting the Solar energy sitting in partnership know, ‘I haven’t forgotten about you, I’m just off on my own (Leo) for a while!’

So what do we do about the 1st and its long, open, Lunar aspectless stretch? We read ECLIPSE for the October outlook, the lowdown on Venus Retrograde, ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ for New and Full Moons here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ or we curl up with our computer and read about our own empowerment http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com and we check our natal chart with the expectation that wherever the Moon is passing, the matters of that House will receive some emphasis–and then we accept our Cancerian mandate (one that says we must examine what we care about), and we go forward and have a great day!

30 September 2010: Recognizing the Seeds

≈ Comments Off on 30 September 2010: Recognizing the Seeds

We move in the wake of our power issues (see previous post for the 29th) all the way through 7-ish PM Pacific, when the Cancer Moon conjuncts the South Node, joining the Nodes in forming a Grand Cross with the Sun/ Earth axis, plus Saturn; the Moon goes from dealing with those very basic and intense power concerns (and even if you didn’t experience an obvious power situation, you likely sensed one, via the Moon’s intuitive function) to involvement in a heavy kind of life-direction-determining event. This all sounds very dramatic but for most of us it won’t be; it’s instead the small, quiet moment that changes everything–so even if you aren’t aware of a big, life-changing thing, you need to realize that there is something path-determining going on today. Recognize the seeds as they are sown, and that even small choices will reverberate.

A trine to Mars in Water forms in the 2 AM hour PDT of October 1st, suggesting that actions mesh well with the emotions; the trick here is to have already brought the emotional state into harmony with the personal intents (natal Sun). If the Self is vibing all of a piece (as they say!) one’s actions and choices will be supported and the intuition will guide. If disharmonies remain unconscious, are disregarded, or carefully swept under the rug, this aspect can mean it’s really easy to facillitate some bad ideas–or at least, act in ways that may be Self-defeating, in the long run.

By 4 AM PDT of the 1st the Moon trines Venus–and whether we’ve chosen well in our actions or not, we’re likely to feel good about it. It’s a bit odd, but not the time to worry about assessing effects or modifying results; instead, relax into the depth and beauty of Venus and the Moon complimenting each other in the feeling element.

Something remarkable is going on–and by remarkable, I don’t necessarily mean positive, but rather mean that things, mostly intangibles, are happening and require our notice–they need to be remarked upon–and yet, I think most of what we’re perceiving is coming through as an irritant: life seems like a downer right now, but most of us have great difficulty pointing to exactly why, as even our more undesirable circumstances show some obvious pluses. Everything is in flux (and I can almost hear some of you adding, still!) but I think the Ceres/ Pluto exact meeting on October 19th may explain a lot. See more on that here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ and see my new book on Juno, its meaning in both womens’ and mens’ natal charts and in synastry here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/ And Thanks to All who’ve supported the book in word, thought, and through purchase–it’s very much appreciated! Moon, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Gemini, My Daily Astrology Diary

The next Lunar statement is made when the Gemini Moon squares Mercury in Virgo ; communication is what it’s all about, and it’s coming from all sides. This is likely to be the theme for today, building to perfection very close to 7:30 PM PDT. The square suggests it will be a period of dynamic exchange; we’ll hear about those things we’ve been waiting on, and may hear a few things we don’t like, or that may be hard to deal with–such is an open flow of information, we can’t pick and choose, nor should we, as unpleasant news can be as useful (if not more so) than the pleasant variety.

Arrangement in Pink and Gray c.1894 Edmund C. Tarbell {{PD-Art}}

The Moon’s trine to Vesta, beginning around 10 PM Pacific, says that the all-day communications serve a very specific end: to help us align our thoughts and actions with our most sacred values. At this time it’s easy to pull these together, though we must be prepared if we look around at our surroundings or our intimate relationships and find they are out of sync with our Vesta principles–this is an opportunity to re-align, rather than an indicator that we are aligned–it’s good to distinguish between these.

In the midnight hour PDT the Moon trines Neptune and Chiron, and this offers a wonderful, healing moment: we are aligned with our values, ideals are alive with imagination and optimism, and we feel emotional energy is available for soothing and repairing (I make it sound like lotion, don’t I?!) But it’s that smooth an influence on the psyche, so we should take advantage of it. This ushers in the last day of September 2010 in the Pacific time zone, and sets the tone for the day.

By 1:30 AM of the 30th PDT the Moon is squaring Jupiter, opposing Ceres, and quincunxing Pallas, bringing forward an interesting influence: we spent the previous day mostly with an internal focus, making the outer match the inner (or at least noting where the discrepancies were) but now we get a reaction from those in authority (including Mom, perhaps?) and from the social sphere, and we may have some checking to do involving whether what we’ve chosen is wise. Almost certainly, there will be some flack from one’s social group, but we should trust our own inner wisdom which, if it wasn’t in play before, is in play now. Your own judgment is best, even though it’s vital to stay flexible and willing to recognize a less-than-stellar inclination that may be steering us wrong.

Next comes the Moon’s square to Uranus, around 3 AM PDT of the 30th, and we may be tempted to rebel, as it seems the group just won’t let up–but remember that this is a Gemini Moon hard aspect–there’s a lot of talk involved, not necessarily followed up with action. Don’t react from feeling threatened; your position is likely more secure (or already determined) and in fact getting upset won’t change things a lick.

This is quickly followed by a sextile to Juno, which offers the opportunity to wrap up what we’ve learned over the last few days and use it as fuel to our own empowerment. ‘Well done,’ is likely to be the feeling here. Void begins at 4:32 AM Pacific, with the Moon entering Cancer at 6:45 AM. Energies work up to the Moon’s opposition to Pluto, 10:30 AM-ish PDT, and we are faced with power issues, pure and simple. What forms these issues take will have a lot to do with your personal relationship to the power structure in place, your own sense of empowerment, and how much you believe the powers-that-be should care–may be an eye-opening episode for many.

Of course, we’re undergoing that yearly conjunction of the transiting Sun to Saturn; this illuminates what is, what’s reliable, and gives form to the sense of structure and security. It lets us see where we stand with reality, and the material plane in particular, and begins a new Sun/ Saturn cycle. It’s a point of both comprehension and the chance to re-new one’s relationship to the physical and to form–and with a Gemini, then Cancer, Moon involved, we should get all the info and kind assistance we need. See more on this from Tony Vowles here http://www.theastrologyblog.com/2010/09/sun-conjunct-saturn.html

So this morning I looked in the bottom of my coffee cup, and what did I see? (And here I should note, I don’t usually see anything but dusky swirls of fine grounds.) There was an amazingly unmistakable Sun, perfectly, symmetrically formed. I was so surprised at that, the flawless circle in the center, the rays like one of those 80s stegosaurus hairdos, with each ray drawn out to a fine point. I had to look it up; just for fun, I invite you to look for a pattern in your life, too–a vision in a cloud, a repeated shape or symbol seen throughout the day, your own personal tea leaves of life!– here’s a list of traditional meanings: http://www.mojomoon.net/tleaves.html And whatever you do, have a great one!

Juno, Moon in Gemini, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary

By 4 PM PDT on the 27th our Lunar hero forms a T-square with Juno opposed Neptune/ Chiron; the emotions or intuition try desperately to resolve this stand-off between illusion specifically fostered by hurt, or dreaming about using skills, and the need to control energy and expression in order to serve true empowerment needs. It’s a most insidious Self-sabotage, as we fixate on what we wish, what would be ideal, what could heal us, and miss what’s in front of us that will, by a slightly different route, give us exactly what we want–what may help is to know that what you’re envisioning as the fantasy way to fulfillment (courtesy of Neptune) is illusory. The real avenue to empowerment right now is through true, careful Self-regard, the kind that will build toward both goals and a more solid sense of identity (Leo placement), rather than trying to institute dream-schemes that spring from woundedness. Treating ourselves with respect, rather than indulging whims, is key. At the same time the Moon is opposing Vesta, perhaps making us temporarily reject our core values, making it that much tougher to treat well what really matters. It’s a mini-rebellion, eased along by the sextile to Jupiter/ Uranus about 6 PM PDT, making it a snap to exaggerate expression and individuality needs–anyone who kicks and screams at this point will be responding immaturely, and losing the chance to make the most of those positive energies that will support Soul expression so well. A quincunx to Ceres rounds out the influence–authority requires us to modify the emotional response for success. It all makes one big picture.

The Void begins at 8:04 PM PDT, suggesting that we relax for a while–too much work (or simply too much stress) makes Jack a dull boy, as they say. The Moon enters Gemini at 11:10 PM Pacific. The first aspect Gemmy Moon makes is a quincunx to Pluto, again asking us to make emotional adjustments in the face of Change, with a big ‘C.’  By now this has probably become mighty wearing; the antidote is, once more, Soul-rooted, mature, Self-interest, the kind that allows the world to change and us to be able to handle it because we know who we are.

9 AM on the 28th and the Moon trines the Sun, allowing an emo centered reality check on current life direction. We may feel like that’s the last thing we need right now, but it’s good prep for the upcoming Venus retro, and the soon-to-arrive New Moon (see ECLIPSE forecast section for details http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) This is followed by a 1 PM-ish Moon trine to Saturn and a trine to the North Node, making our realizations all-too real–we get a hint at what the material situation might be in future-a useful perception to recall later.

A quincunx to Mars in the 4 PM hour PDT means we could be irritated at this point and quick to fight–once more, true Self-interest says we should channel this into what we need to get done, rather than standing on a (figurative) street corner, spoiling to punch someone. If we go for lovin’ not fightin’ we get the payoff around 8 PM with the Moon’s quincunx to Venus–as long as we remain flexible in terms of what form our payoff can take (we don’t turn away that million dollars because it arrives at our door in pennies, for instance!) we can receive some interesting interaction, messages (Gemini) or enjoy something radically sexy (Venus in Scorpio).

A trine to Zeus 10 PM-ish of the 28th says it may be easy to allow the desire Will or the ambitions to carry us away, especially in too much talk or gossip (Gemini Moon). Keeping a check on expression is the idea–we feel good, and it would be a shame to throw it away by going overboard.

This period requires the kind of enlightened Self-interest on the individual level that will keep our personal situation well attended to and that enables us to refuse the many fleeting distractions that surround us. And through it all, have a great one!

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Grand Cross, Grand Square, Juno, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary, the Magazine

There’s a wonderful Grand Square formed (and while we consider this as a square, Pluto is also in the mix), soon to also be a Cross, involving the Nodes, Saturn/Sun, and Earth. Why wonderful? I’m not quite sure; it’s got a charged-up electric energy, seated in the Sun in a Venus-ruled sign, Saturn in its exaltation, the Earth in dynamic, kick-ass Aries, and the Nodes in Cardinal (action) energies of caring and structure–it just sounds like a recipe for transformation of circumstances (Pluto) and materialization of what’s both expressive of our Soul intents (Sun), needed for the Soul’s expression materially (Earth), and designed to move us along in our destined direction (the Nodes). A major config that presents major opportunity–and today holds a specific positive time period for another significant configuration–see ECLIPSE for details–I abhor saying it over and over, but if you do come here often to follow the Lunar forecast picture, you really could use the forecast section of the magazine–’nuff said 🙂

The lovely Taurus Moon goes on to quincunx Zeus around 1 PM PDT, challenging the emotions to accomodate the ambitions–somehow they rub each other the wrong way. The Lunar picture moves toward the physical, toward the material, the artisanal, through the rest of the day and into evening Pacific time–then around 2 AM PDT of the 27th, the Moon trines Mercury in Earth. The messages are centered on material circumstances, even when they appear to be otherwise; it’s a situation of reverse-symbolism, where talk about priciples and values is really representative of the asset situation–very ‘Taurus as concerned with who has what.’

8 AM PDT on the 27th brings the Moon conjunct Sedna–uh-oh, all those material things we were just talking about are just not discernible–it’s almost like we’ve spent time sorting through who has what only to find that everybody’s stuff seems to have disappeared! It’s only a temporary vanishing act, which is meant to turn our attention elsewhere for awhile.

A quincunx to Vesta noonish PDT means we get our sense of values back not just intact but heightened–after this little interlude we know what really counts. By 2 PM the Moon is in place as the apex of a Finger of God with base of Vesta/ Ceres; this implies that the emotions and/ or intuition (or possibly the matters of the House where the transiting Moon falls in the natal chart) will serve as outlet for a negotiation over the most important values and life elements (home in all senses, and the most intimately connected relationships)–the goal is to find what’s ‘natural’–and once the balance is reached a rush of emotional perception, intuitive knowing, and/ or other revelation about how to proceed will occur.

Many thanks to all who’ve bought JUNO IN THE NATAL CHART–I’d love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative or anywhere in between, and so would those who are considering the book–please share! Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary

The Moon enters Taurus at 1:16 PM PDT, and around 5 PM Pacific we see a quincunx to the Sun and a trine to Pluto, bringing an interesting emotional possibility: we may feel two pressures, both an internal need to adjust the Self, and an external requirement for some change, particularly to the emotional perceptions or interpretation, and these changes may center on the material (Taurus). Transformation of assets or artisanal skills and exploitation of these may be both easy and desirable; this contact can bring a point that pushes accomplishment in material realms forward nicely. How we feel about it, or process it internally, may be another matter–we may be ill at ease with the new course or may just feel things are moving too quickly, though grounding ourselves (through diet, movement, or meditation) will show us that the rate of ‘flow’ is exactly right for us, and allow us to relax and enjoy the change in scene. Look to the natal House with Taurus on the cusp for best forms of grounding (conversation on the 3rd, perhaps, a good meal on the 4th, group-keyed creativity on the 11th, or a wee bit of travel or learning something new on the 9th, for example).

3 AM PDT of the 26th brings the Moon’s opposition to randy Mars in Scorpio–but fresh off contact with Pluto, the Taurus Moon is ready. Though this may present as an adversarial situation, it can be fun and games for all if we keep some perspective, chiefly available through awareness of where either sweetness or scrappiness might lead (Moon trine North Node) and that what develops here might put down roots (Moon quincunx Saturn in Libra) so we’d better make something pleasant and perhaps partner or Arts-oriented.

By 9 AM of the 26th the Moon has moved on to oppose Venus, like her Arian counterpart also in feisty Scorpio. This is when we see whether our earlier choices were good ones–choose lovin’ not fghtin’ and it’ll work out well! For some this will bring forward issues of love or money that have been coming to a boil for some time; face them head on but don’t freak out or exaggerate the situation–either situation (relationships or finances) can be salvaged, or at least put on a positive track, if patience and a willingness to see things for what they are, and to do what’s needed, is adopted and followed through on–fairly easy to do with Moon in Taurus, even though the pace may be a little plodding, you get there eventually, one step at a time!

One other thing I’d like to note for this period: the Sun is coming up on its annual conjunction with Saturn, this time in Libra; what is it about the Fall, and this meeting, that says Marriage to me? There are some obvious connections, of course, but I think we’ll all be wedding something or someone at this point–make a good choice, ’cause this union may stick! (Saturn in Libra).

Full Moon After-Effects, Moon in Aries, My Daily Astrology Diary

Everything changed; did you feel it? I think for many this was subtle but discernible, if only through the intuition; for some, the world appears exactly the same, but something tells us it has slipped slightly, like we’ve skewed to the very next dimension, thin as paper, right next to the dimension we were accustomed to, and we know it’s different, we just haven’t seen those differences yet. It’s almost a matter of faith. For myself, I know change has occurred, I can feel the shift all around me, but I can’t yet point to the results–all we can be sure of now is that the changes will show in different modes of action (Cardinal energies of Full Moon).

LRR, courtesy Wikimedia Commons and the Guttenberg Project {{PD-Art}}

The Moon continues through Aries like Red Riding Hood through the woods, alone and strangely unguarded; though the Aries energy is usually pugnacious, today the feeling is much more lunar, more receptive. It’s as if this Moon handed over the action urge when it contacted the Sun and Earth along the Aries Point axis, perhaps funneling all the energies into the T-arm formed by Pluto. It’s not hard to imagine the density of the tiny demoted body pulling the juice from every other contact into its dark maw, making changes to reality (in Saturn-ruled Capricorn) that are so extensive and quiet we’ve yet to truly see or grasp the result.

But back to our concern of the day, Little Red Luna, as she skips along and makes no aspect until much later. Alone and unafraid, she moves through what seems to be familiar territory, and it is–except it usually doesn’t hide a wolf. The emotions will be very Self-focused today, in a way that’s more like contemplation, like reflecting on the Self and one’s role, than it is anything else–so what a shock when one finally notices the wolf! Before that, though, Red is stalked, and remains unaware of the onlooker. This is very much like the Moon’s next contact, an 11:30 PM-ish PDT opposition to Vesta; what matters, the sacred, the home, the intimate contacts, are all suddenly making demands on the Self–the emotional energy can’t be kept all to oneself, and this makes it obvious.

A quincunx to Pallas about 4 AM of the 25th says we will need to adjust the emotional perceptions to accomodate what’s wise–it’s a brief schooling in which emotional perspectives may simply be foolish and indulgent, and which may need to embrace a smarter course.

It’s at the 5 AM hour PDT that Red finally gets rolling, forming a Grand Trine in Fire with Juno and Ceres, and a sextile to Chiron/ Neptune. Here’s Red’s initiation into the ‘real’ world, into the layers a reality can hold, into the what the Full Moon energy has subtly re-aligned; the emotional Self meets the possibility of creating a power outlet that is much more than the sum of its parts. The GT says the emotional Self holds the key to both expression of the individual’s innate power and authority, and the relationship to Mother Nature–and with this latter, the ability to manipulate, handle, direct, or otherwise use natural forces is all ours. Chiron/ Neptune adds one’s most unique skills and the ideals and creative capacity to the mix, making for a tremendously powerful period when the individual becomes an energy alchemist, transforming the unique relationship to skill and power into actions taken, initiating oneself into the ‘new’ relationship with the ‘changed’ Universal flow of the Full Moon. You can blow the doors off it, at this point; aim the energy and the intentions very very carefully.

Void begins at 7:12 AM PDT on the 25th; Moon enters Taurus 1:16 PM PDT. ‘Til then, have a great one!

The women were like beings made of moon milk, and their skin shimmered with little silver dots like those of the salmon in springtime, and the women’s feet and hands were long and graceful.

The Full Moon for September occurs at 2:17 AM PDT on the 23rd at 00 Aries 15–the Aries Point! In the most straightforward terms, the Aries Point is the slice of space/ time where spirit enters matter, the collision point of  all that is real and unseen with discernible material form. So, a big deal, as for the individual, this point in the flat chart of the natal horoscope designates the point at which the individual meshed the spirit and the physical as we know it; it’s the place where the Soul entered active engagement with the present lifetime. What does this mean for us when the transiting Full Moon coincides with what we might see as a doorway between spirit and material?

The occurrence of the Full Moon at the Aries Point may open a doorway to our origins, to the most fundamental expression of who we are, at that moment when we both took material form (birth) and still retained full consciousness of the Soul essence. The Sabian symbol for 0-1 Aries is: ‘A Woman Just Risen From the Sea; a Seal is Embracing Her’ This image brings to mind the Archetypal story of the Seal Woman who mates with a human male, has a child, and slowly loses her health–all because as she celebrated herself, a hunter saw, and took the sealskin she wore as her ‘true’ identity. The story is given form in ‘Sealskin, Soulskin,’ in Estes’ marvelous ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves.’ She divides the story (which is told in many cultures in many forms) into parts that I know  I can’t improve on, so we’ll look at each part and how it might relate to the Full Moon experience.

Since this is a Full Moon, we know we’re speaking of culmination, the rounding out of some part of our own story. First, there is a kind of initiation that comes through a loss, in one form or another, of the Soul. I think this can be equated to birth, represented by the Aries Point as the doorway; we can’t help but become disoriented, losing a bit of ourselves in the process. Then one ‘loses one’s pelt’ in earnest–we are trying to enjoy our new human form, but in celebrating this we set aside the Soul connectors we still retain, in order to fit in to the earthly realm. We substitute the values of the culture and our tribe, and though these are not completely alien, they do represent the values of consensus, and that means we lose our awareness of those things that make us unique; this loss is represented by ‘poor’ choice (and by that I mean the kind of choices we inevitably make in an attempt to regain that part of ourselves we sense we’ve forgotten) and the way we are lured by the things we think will provide our lack. So we are, like the Seal Woman, left naked and shivering as we search for our eternal Beingness.

Next there is communion with the hunter, the individual who has ‘taken’ our skin–of course, we don’t know that we are facing the thief. This is represented by any animus oriented energy to which we succumb: our own interior animus, our ego, or an external animus: a man, ambition, society’s definition of ‘making it.’ Note that though this story is told as a woman’s loss, this tragedy happens to men, as well; they lose their unique ‘Soul skin’ in an attempt to be the kind of man society (and perhaps the partner) demands, rather than the kind of man they are naturally. The ego and its particular form of vanity promises to fulfill us, to return to us that missing Soul piece, if we will only do its bidding–but this is just not true–it cannot return what it does not possess.

The woman, the entire time she has spent on dry land, has been hearing the call of the sea (her true environment) and has been conscious of her vibrational connection with her child, her spiritual ‘home,’ in a sense. This spirit child in the story is the child of the Seal Woman and the hunter who captured her by stealing her skin. This is representative of the pure, inner connection we retain to the Soul (it can be ‘the inner child,’ though I think it’s something much purer, the experience of the Soul rather than just the seed-manifestation of it), and it’s this element in the story that, agitated by its mother’s distress, stumbles out into the night and trips on the mother’s wrapped up Seal skin, finding and delivering back to the woman her true identity.

So, in all this we are seeing an Archetypal journey in miniature; the Full Moon presents us with the ability to re-acquaint ourselves with that moment when as Soul we slipped into flesh–and this is a vital point, as it is the one time in the incarnation experience (other than the moment of death) in which we can be fully aware of the enormity of who we are, and can re-connect so directly with it.

Using our strict orb, we see that the Sun/ Moon/ Earth makes only one aspect, a T-square with Pluto in Capricorn. Ah ha! Besides being able to glimpse in its purest form the Soul and its intentions on incarnating (in the Sabian, this is the seal embracing the woman, a return to the natural sensibilities), this Full Moon also offers the power (Pluto) to transform (Pluto) our own manifestation in the material (Capricorn). Since the inner is the outer, and the outer the inner, this means we can change anything on any level, with corresponding changes visible (or felt or realized) in the opposite venue.

In ECLIPSE I called this Full Moon “the true birth point of fated Cardinal action,” and outline the other influences in effect at the moment of Full Moon fulfillment that will act on our transformational choices. If you’re planning on getting this issue and you just haven’t yet, now’s the time http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/  The life long journey to empowerment is closely related to  the mini-empowerment we will be instituting with this Full Moon; see more on that here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  in my new book on Juno. Thank you!

And have a wonderful Full Moon transformational experience!

Dark of the Moon--NOT, My Daily Astrology Diary

Well, you’ve all let me go on about the Dark of the Moon, so polite not to interrupt and say, ‘Hey, crazy, we’re approaching a FULL MOON, there is no Dark period!’ I apologize (and cringe with embarrassment) at my goof, but stand by the feeling this period is creating–it feels like that empty, quiet point before a New Moon–so what gives?

Honestly, I can pinpoint about a dozen things that suggest to me a nebulous, distorting, or camouflaging effect, including: the exact Earth, Jupiter, Uranus conjunction in Pisces, Neptune sextile Ceres (obscuring Mother Nature) and opposed Juno (mastery of the facts, i.e. empowerment, slips through our fingers), Sedna sesquiquadrate Saturn (reality is nowhere to be found!)–need I go on? A plethora of energies are tuned to static–and I, foolish astrologer, read the ether, rather than the aspects, and reported incorrectly.

So, I hope we can put this sorry episode behind us–I appreciate that you were all so discreet, not pointing out that the Empress is naked–now what can we expect? I think a whole lot of the same, through to the Full Moon in the wee hours Pacific of the 23rd; we’re dealing with a lot of tension (see ECLIPSE) with no outlet, at least not until the opposition of Sun and Moon, releasing an amazing amount of energy connected to both the Aries Point and Pluto.

Next up, my FULL MOON  report–which looks nothing like a NEW MOON–really.
