Have you noticed today’s trend toward empowering thought arrived at via examination of past opportunity and expansion options? We see exactly how to achieve our goals, if we’re willing to both accept external help and resources, and widen our ideas of how we can get where we want to go, based on past successful efforts.

The 18th both events and instincts may foster the urge to retreat–we want to go back in time, not into the future–but we can gain some control by looking to our own ‘blind spots’ for one or more issues that may be causing our hesitation.

On the 19th we’re feeling strong, so may be doubly surprised by what comes at us. Just know it won’t hurt a bit as long as we’re flexible and open to spontaneity.

20 August and we may not like what we hear–so much so that we may pretend we didn’t hear it! Not a good strategy, as currently on a Collective level, we’re determining the upcoming power and freedom balance for individuals. Dealing with realities is the only way to keep the group out of what should be a personal decision-making process.

Events or developments of the 21stΒ may make us feel as if we’ve been ambushed; walls are up, borders and boundaries are impenetrable, restrictions are clear, and we may believe there are only two options: wreak havoc, or abandon our standards. There is a third option, however: access your most original and unique qualities or talents, and treat them as if they are worth a great deal–then watch as circumstances change around you.

Memento mori, Napoli {{PD}} Photo courtesy of Marie-Lan Nguyen, reproduced from Wikimedia Commons with Thanks–

The 21st Matters are very solidly delineated; rules are firm and obvious, obstacles have clearly defined outlines, restrictions are out in the open, and what it takes to accomplish is enumerated definitively. It all seems to be above-board and laid out for our perusal–but seems is the operative word. Our own wounds have a voice in what we choose to ignore or deny, and we may not be aware of this, as thinking, though intuitively following our inner wisdom, still manages to skirt those issues we’re in denial of or feel we must avoid. We won’t be conscious of it, but we’ll go out of our way to hide from ourselves what’s unpleasant, and that will obscure our path to empowerment. If we can deal with facts and what is in an equitable way, not allowing ourselves to shy away out of vague feelings of unease, we can accomplish a lot–otherwise the main activity might be spinning our wheels. (Chiron parallel Black Moon Lilith, Neptune contra-parallel Juno, Mercury parallel and sesq Pallas while falling at the midpt of Sedna-Black Moon Lilith, Sun tr/ Earth sxt Saturn)

By the 22nd it’s all about the facts, and we’re able to see (and are firmly connected to) the reality picture–and that means it’s a good time to make decisions, to maneuver, or assess circumstances. Our attention will shift more toward ourselves, and we’ll likely get a little more objectivity concerning material matters at this point, paving the way for the Superior Conjunction of Merc and the Sun, the seed moment for plans and ideas, on the 23rd. (The 22nd: Merc tr Saturn, Sun enters Leo/ Earth enters Aquarius)

The 23rd Self examination goes well; we know what we want and need, and are cogitatin’ how to get it. With Merc entering Leo to join up with the Sun, we enjoy a clear mandate for promoting ourselves and our causes, as expressing highest values is just naturally the smart thing to do. Be prepared, though: nothing really worthwhile comes completely free, at this point–getting what we want will cost. (Vesta tr Pallas, Earth qnx Venus)

The 24th we’re nostalgic for the past, probably for some sense of autonomy we once had, as our ideas are opposed (or just not supported) by authorities or Mother Nature. We’re out of balance, looking too intently to others for permission; remember you’re in charge of you, of your accomplishments, efforts, and the arbiter of your choices and level of Self-control, and you’ll make excellent progress. (Merc opp Ceres and tr SN)

Books are here, services are here–Thanks, and have a great week!

Albert Anker ‘Kind mit Puppe’ (Child with Doll) c19th century {{PD}}

Hello Poppets (defined as “a small figure of a human being used in sorcery and witchcraft”–yes, I’m sure that’s what I meant!) I’m back with a wee look ahead, here in the lee of the Full Moon. Yesterday’s events most likely re-defined something for you, something related to the House where the FM fell. And look, it wasn’t so bad, was it? We’re up and walking around already! Whether there was a tad of trauma involved or not, the change (even if it doesn’t seem so yet) is for the good–and if you were paying attention, it probably gave you a pretty solid idea of what to do next.

Today (the 2nd), we hear and say some surprising things; communications can turn on a dime, can shock, or we may receive a message (ultimatum?) from the group. Gird your loins. As to material matters, navigate them using instinct, and be aware of the potential for tripping over your own ‘blind spot’ material.

On the 3rd there may be a lot of unnecessary grousing, irritation, and behavior that threatens, just a little, the current power structure. Where you stand in the power hierarchy determines whether this is good or bad πŸ™‚ Bonus: you may get a great idea or two, or understand how to expand interests or please the social sphere–but it’s not the best time to act on that. Note the inspired thoughts, and wait to implement.

On the 4th deep breathing is in order; enjoy the oddly quiet interior landscape. The good news is, that suggests we won’t be thinking about ourselves excessively, or mulling things over too much. We get an idea of what to expect by asking, What’s usually going on when we’re not focused on ourselves?

The 5th is problematic: we fixate on (or at least see) everything in our reality that “needs correcting”. The key is to recognize just how much of this is within our control to change–and how much is our own fault, because we’ve ignored or neglected matters. Please note: non-defensive communication brings cooperation, possibly reward, and definitely improves relationships.

Today, the 6th, the Sun opposes Pluto–which means that heavy-hitter is conjunct the Earth. The Sun also quincunxes Pallas. The implication may be that the environment and/ or material matters pose danger, a threat of destruction, or the opportunity for re-building or even transformation, in the Capricorn-connected areas of the natal chart, and in those ruled by Pluto. It’s smart to be willing to handle that Plutonian element of change head-on. Own your personal power (don’t pretend to be smaller than you are!) and things will move ahead productively.

And finally, by Tuesday the 7th the mental faculties are shining bright–and possibly become set in stone. Accepting that thinking must remain as it is today is a mistake that will cause us to act in ways that conflict with our highest values (and possibly damage our relationship to the mate or the home circumstances), and that may encourage us to sublimate upset and funnel it into relationships, or into financial ‘acting out’. Stay flexible, my friends; the only way things will go badly is if we are set on seeing ourselves and our thinking as ‘perfect’.

Check out my books here and watch for my new book on Vesta, coming this month! Services open up later this month–thanks for making me so busy!

Engraving by Gustave DorΓ© for an 1876 edition of Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Captioned “I Watched the Water-Snakes,” it depicts a sailor on the bowsprit of a sailing ship tied to a dead albatross, with water-serpents in the sea around him. 1876 {{PD}}

I’m making an exception on orbs this time around, allowing four+ degrees so that we can include the Full Moon conjunct Pluto and opposed Mars. The symmetry of it, with one on one end of the event axis and one on the other, and at either side of the FM degree as if they are two children on a see-saw, trying to balance out something between them, can’t be ignored. It’s as if our anger, action urge, personal initiative, or β€˜I Want’ (Mars) launches things (as companion to the Sun, without which we’d have no Full Moon), and in the culmination this becomes either a transformative or destructive energy (Pluto), potentially changing or tearing down our walls, barriers, rules, the structure of our lives, or those things that have been holding us back (Capricorn).

The FM is also sextile Neptune and square Vesta, implying that what must change may conflict with the way we believe things should beβ€”we’ll be bucking our own values, in this regardβ€”but the contact to Neptune suggests we have a chance to create something much more like our idealsβ€”so don’t resist.

The FM also forms apex to a loose Fist of God with a base of Sedna square Venus. A Fist always suggests that what occurs will be tough, that we’ll in some way β€˜take a beating’, but here we see that our own β€˜blind spot’ or instinctual response within a financial or relationship situation will be involved with (and perhaps be a catalyst for) FM action. What occurs (or more specifically, what we doβ€”Mars) could initiate rage (Pluto) but could also act as a β€˜tipping point’ for the change the FM promises.

Special notice goes to a minor aspect that seems to cry out (via the 29 degree placement of Saturn) for attention, and that is the Full Moon’s novile to a Saturn under stress. The β€˜genius’ (the novile) of what culminates at the FM comes directly from a stressful reality situation, one of having been or having been required to be restrained, from obstacles, dead ends, delays, or setbacks that have now become intolerableβ€”or perhaps where we see we must do something to break the impasse.

Sabian for the FM: β€˜An Albatross Feeding From The Hand Of A Sailor’ This symbol speaks directly to Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem β€˜The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’, which tells of an albatross following a ship, considered good luck, and the sailor who shoots it, in the eyes of the crew bringing disaster to their voyageβ€”hence the term, β€˜an albatross around one’s neck’, meaning that something or some action has marked you as the bringer of bad things. Here though the sailor feeds the albatross, so encourages the potentials for good luck. That suggests that if we embrace whatever changes, transforms, or is destroyed with the Full Moon, we will increase our chances of a fortuitous outcome.

For a Full Moon we also look at the Sun’s Sabian: β€˜A Large Diamond In The First Stages Of The Cutting Process’ This suggests that what culminates at the Full Moon comes as we make efforts to achieve a goal; we are not promised that we will reach that goal, but instead that in the process of moving forward (expressing our Mars) we encounter change and its inevitable effects (Pluto), and then must go from there.

See my books here and watch for my new book on Vesta, coming in July!

Anders Zorn 1891

Anders Zorn 1891

20 June reality is not what it appears to beβ€”and in particular, destructive or transformative elements may not play out as anticipated. What β€˜blocks the light’ isn’t an obstacle so much as an expression of power that we are interpreting as a blockage or wall. Transform your idea of what’s stopping you, and you will be able to see how to get where you want to go. (Saturn quincunx Sun and semi-square Pluto)

21 June attempts to expand our reach clash with our highest values and priorities, and what we value we automatically think will be destroyedβ€”and our thoughts, inescapable, seem written in stone. It’s an odd day when we feel caught by a dozen different currents, with none strong enough to actually determine our course, and none weak enough to allow us to row our boat out of the whirlpools and onto shore. There can be a lot of needless fear generated by our own busy minds; at the same time, we may come up with ideas that are winners, especially if they concern tapping into our personal power and working with, rather than against, authorities. Changes to relationships and financial circumstances occur at this time because we are too thoroughly divorced from reality; embrace what is, as decisions will go better and outcomes will be a lot more positive than they will if we ignore it. (Jupiter sesquiquadrate Vesta, Venus quincunx Pluto, parallel Mercury, and Merc and Venus contra-parallel Saturn, with Merc trine Ceres, and Sun into Cancer/ Earth into Capricorn)

Your ECLIPSE Weekend Sampler 30-31 August 2014: Don’t Abdicate

Don't abdicate, for instance, your responsibility to put that fire out. from 'The Chronicles of St. Denis' 12th century Artist unknown {{PD}}

Don’t abdicate, for instance, your responsibility to put that fire out. from ‘The Chronicles of St. Denis’ 12th century Artist unknown {{PD}}

From ‘Attachmentsβ€”Asking Why’, an article on relationships in the current ECLIPSE:

We’ve talked about Ceres’ sex-deadening energy specifically when it contacts the Mars, chart ruler, or Sun or Sun ruler of a male from a female’s chart, or within a same sex interaction in either person’s chart to the other’s, but Ceres can bring her overwhelming Earth Mama or directly maternal vibe by moving aspect, and so temporarily put a damper on drives, unless the individuals can relate to an elemental form of sexualityβ€”if the involved individuals are too civilized, too strongly identify caring with mothering, or are too frightened of Nature and natural behaviors (these make some people feel out-of-control), then a Ceres transit can really gum things up, the worst part being that one might feel the change is permanent, rather than transitory.

Just a Little Lunar Essence for 30 August: the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:53 AM Pacific time of the 30th. 1 PM PDT the Moon trines Neptune. We are open to deep feeling, inspiration, and creative change–whatever moves you at this point is likely to be very positive–unless you let yourself be mislead. Vet your ideas by imagining potential outcomes; if they’re all good, you’ve got a green light. 3 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Ceres and trines Earth. We connect with our power by connecting, literally, with the earth. Garden, work with clay, walk outside barefoot, swim in a natural body of water, plant something–it will bring power, balance, and peace.

31 August relationships may support us, and our money and/ or talent supports our skills, but only if we refuse to dwell on our wounds or to think like losers! At this time the world really is ours to make of it what we will; don’t abdicate your immense power to declare your territory as your own in favor of playing victim or out of a mistaken belief that it’s egotistical to declare yourselfβ€”there’s nothing modest or virtuous about pretending to be weaker or more confused than we actually are. (Perfecting today: Venus semi-square Pallas, Mercury contra-parallel Chiron and semi-square Vesta, Earth trine Ceres)

Carducius Plantagenet Ream ‘Dessert No. 4’ c1865 {{PD}}

Your weekend sampler, featuring a too-long cake metaphor, a slice (again!) from the article on sibling relationships, and a little glimpse ahead, but just a crumb–have a great weekend!

Today’s image (for the 18th) is a pink cake box, like the kind you get from the bakery, containing a crushed cake and discarded on the freeway on-ramp. This is a sad image; who is so angry or unhappy or spiteful that they moosh a perfectly lovely cake and throw it out the window of a speeding car? Someone who doesn’t like the good things in life, that’s who, someone who is not willing to accept pleasure–and they don’t want anyone else to have any enjoyment, either. Is there someone like this in your life? If so, consider that they may ruin everyone’s cake out of deep sorrow, perhaps out of a belief that they don’t deserve life’s cake. If you find it in yourself, you may want to offer them a slice, and let them know that they really do deserve it–all we have to do is be alive to deserve it!–and we can all have our cake, after all.

Anything posited in the 11th adds layers to the interaction, and typically focuses major attention in 11th House matters. The Moon here, for example, may suggest we see our own mother, those who seem maternal to us, or those with whom we empathize as friend material; an emotional connection may be essential to viewing an individual as a friend, with this placement, and could dominate interaction. So how do our sibling interactions influence our later interactions with friends? Even if there are no other connections, Whole Sign Houses give us the same element in both 3rd and 11th Houseβ€”and further, we get the same element on the 7th of Others, with all three Houses offering both personal and group or β€˜other’ related viewpoints for the chart individual. This implies that the way we relate to friends and groups is very much like, even modeled on, sibling relationships and early childhood experiences (which also fall in the 3rd). With the elements connecting the Houses, we can’t help but translate our experiences in the matters of the earliest part of life (the 3rd) into later events and experiences as our horizons and contacts widen.

19 July are our relationships or finances not fitting smoothly into our reality, or must our reality modify itself to accurately reflect the Truth of our relationships or financial situation? That’s the question we’ll wrestle with all day. (Perfecting today: Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn)

20 July sees us discover the down side to our expansion attempts, our social role, or to knowing what we know; somehow we are seen as responsible for darker elements that are in reality way outside our control. This brings a form of public judgment, an episode where the social circle makes a pronouncement about usβ€”and there’s nothing we can do about it. Just know that what’s communicated is more revealing about the thinking of those making the assessments than it is about you or your choices. Too, our own thinking is influenced by things we’re not aware ofβ€”and pushes us in directions we might not anticipate, to undetermined effectβ€”and that could be the same influence that’s causing others to make those judgments of you. (Jupiter contra-parallel Pluto, Mercury semi-square Sedna)

This is just, as it says, a sample–please consider subscribing! Thanks!

‘Reading by the Shore’ Charles Sprague Pearce 1883-85 {{PD-Art}}

For Friday the 15th:

6 PM PST the Taurus Moon sextiles Chiron, offering us some healing energy–or some very useful knowledge. 10 PM PST the Moon trines Pluto, making emotional purging very easy–just try to do it in a positive way. Can be very comforting, getting rid of the dross. Midnight the Moon opposes Saturn and sextiles Mars, suggesting we may find ourselves lacking in emotional restraint, and acting on our impulses. If that previous emotional housecleaning went well, the witching hour could find us taking action on something long delayed, put off, or denied–and it sure will feel good. If we resisted letting go of ‘old’, outdated emotional views and reactions, we may act in a way that’s simply contrary to our usual discipline–with poor or mixed results.

For the 16th:

10 AM PST the Moon sextiles Mercury, opening the emotional spigot and spilling all that we have to communicate. Take necessary pre-cautions should you find yourself in inhospitable territory. 2 PM the Moon squares Venus, bringing sudden confrontation in relationship, financial worries, or some distinct discomfort. Addressing the problem with the intellect (Aquarius), rather than through material perceptions (Taurus) is likely the answer.6 PM PST the Moon conjuncts the South Node and semi-sextiles Ceres. Nostalgia and a trip down memory lane may end up empowering us, as we review the role authorities used to play, the way Mom used to be in charge, or the way we used to have to negotiate for what now we can just take when we want it.

For the 17th:

Noon Pacific time the Moon makes her final aspect in Taurus, a T-square to the Sun-Earth axis; all are at 29 degrees. Tension may be what we’re breathing and eating at this point. Again, don’t let emotions push you into life or circumstance changes you don’t want–we’re certainly in no position to judge ‘new moves’ today.

Void begins at 12:31 PM PST; the Moon enters Gemini at 1:50 PM PST.

And on the 18th:

February 18th is an active and somewhat difficult day. It may feel as if the atmosphere is shifting, and it is, as the Sun enters Pisces and the Earth enters Virgo; this change highlights discrepancies between our life direction and our ambitions, goals, and desires (Sun sesquiquadrate Zeus). We also have Venus square the Nodal axis, stressing relationships and/ or finances. DO NOT PANIC. View it all as simply informational; NOTHING needs to change at this moment–but if it does, those in authority give needed assistance (Venus trine Ceres).

From the article ‘Saturn Retro, Relief and Personal Review’:

We may actually perceive this retro of the Old Man as a relief; Saturn turns around on the 18th at 9:02 AM PST at 11 Scorpio 31, and the result might be a lifting of the ‘rip-tide effect’: contradictions drop away, with all info/ circumstances ‘flowing’ in one direction (or that things are subtly withdrawn or shut down), OR we see the sublimation of everything, and find ourselves with a sense that there are no restrictions or withdrawals, but also with no ‘real’ material with which to deal, argue with, or grab on to–and this latter condition might include some roiling emotions (Scorpio).

From the article ‘What’s Your Unicorn? Finding Energy Wasters in the Chart and the Life’:

Unicorn status isn’t for those things we can work toward and achieve; we reserve this fantastical designation for those things that we are more invested in idealizing and identifying through than actually attaining. What’s distinctive about a unicorn is the way in which we don’t, in any significant sense, try to make this ideal a reality, and yet we may spend a great deal of time talking and thinking about it, fantasizing about it, and letting others know that we have a personal connection to it, and so using it as a personal identifier. We may tell everyone that we hope to catch our unicorn one day–but what makes it a unicorn is the way we make sure we will never make significant steps to capture it and ‘make it real’.

This is just a sampling from the current issue of ECLIPSE—order to see it all! No more posting for a bit after this weekend sampler, so to get the entire, detailed aspect and Lunar forecast, get the mag! Or have the forecast material sent directly to you daily, a day ahead! Also featured this week is an article on the asteroid Zeus in aspect to other chart energies, and what that means. And have an excellent weekend, and coming week!

Pallas is instrumental in this Sunday’s eclipse effect. See it all in this week’s ECLIPSE! ‘Pallas Athena’ by Gustav Klimt {{PD-Art}}

All the following is excerpted from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest; imagine how much more you’d know if you subscribed! πŸ™‚

For Friday the 18th of May:

The Moon entered Taurus at 3:04 AM PDT. A 1 PM PDT quincunx of the Moon to the North Node sets the tone: we will spend the transit of the Moon through Taurus adjusting, and we may find we have a higher than usual discomfort both emotionally and physically.

Remember that the Mars/ Pluto trine in Earth is still in effect; the urge to do and transform is still strong, and also carries a higher than average chance of pushing us to be overly assertive, or inadvertently destructive, in our attempts to make things happen.

For Saturday the 19th:

On the 19th we see the Sun oppose Juno, which naturally means the Earth conjuncts her. We are looking at the figurative center of the Universe (in terms of consciousness) in opposition to the very personal, individual need for empowerment and a feeling of significance. Those who choose to play ‘the center of the Universe’ will, besides being insufferable! also be oblivious to the true effects they’re having–they may see themselves as beaming goodness and light to the masses, while those around them suffer sunburn, dehydration, and squint in the glare of ego–while everyone else will be seeing things from too small and insecure a position to operate effectively. The key to handling this, and avoiding coming down on either side of the equation, may be to leave matters of power and influence to the side, for now. A low-key, modest approach is an appropriate way of operating during the Dark of the Moon; we don’t really have the energy to pursue power moves at this time, so responding actively to Sun/ Juno may frazzle us and lead exactly nowhere.

And for Sunday the 20th, the day of an Annular Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Gemini:

The eclipse/ New Moon (occurring at 4:46 PM PDT at 00 Gemini 20) inceptions focus through the image of the Wise Warrior, the anima with native intelligence, poise, mad practical skills, and the fearless martial poise of someone both well-armed (whether that’s figurative or literal) and wise. This persona accepts the role of wise guide for the Self or for others, applying the practical skills, knowledge, and the ripe wisdom of experience to negotiate events of the eclipse–and the entity takes this image on in response to someone (the Juno figure, which sits opposed the eclipse at 29 tense degrees of Scorpio) who is seeking empowerment or exerting authority, and it may be at our expense, or inappropriate to the relationship–

May’s Special offers include 2 FREE months with a 6 month subscription (for a total of 8) or 1 FREE month with a 3 month subscription (for a total of 4).
