Good Day To . . . 24 August 2020 Battering Ram

Battering ram found in 2010 at a depth of 81 metres in the area of the battle of the Aegadian islands, fought on 10 March 241 BC, during the First Punic War. Carved inscription in Punic letters: “May this [ram] be directed against the ship with the wrath of Ba’al, who makes it possible to reach the mark, may this go and strike the hewn shield in the centre.“ {{PD}}

The 24th Is A Good Day To . . . refuse to be a human battering ram! With Mars square Saturn it’s the Will (and sometimes an angry, temperamental, insistent, I-must-have-my-way-Will) that makes us put our heads (so Martian!) down and run directly at immovable objects. And have no doubt, what we want to shove, topple, or punch today WILL NOT BUDGE. With each body in its own sign, each force is at its strongest–and so each side will spend a great deal of energy, one to impose a want, one to resist any change, a pointless expenditure. We are pushed to act out like this by our own denied inner torment, by wounds we’ve not yet made peace with, and by the way our minds prompt us to do anything other than deal with our issues (Merc sesq Black Moon Lilith, qnx Chiron, and semi-sq Hygeia). Face what’s really bothering you, and you won’t need to storm any walls, or exhaust yourself in defending your own.

The 23rd Is A Good Day To . . . tread with care around Power. I hate having to tell you that, but it seems attempts at communicating our ideas or just going about our business (even when it doesn’t involve or infringe upon others) stirs up some surprisingly pernicious conflict. It’s as if those in power (and in those places where you hold power, this applies to you, too) will see themselves as threatened, even when no threat exists. That suggests that everyone may become aware they’ve somehow exceeded their rightful limits–and what does a guilty conscience do? It reacts as if that’s what’s being done to them! So, cultivate awareness of where your territory begins and ends, don’t overstep it, maybe reassure others you don’t see them as carrying a target on their backs, and a great deal of the tension and subliminal fear might dissipate.

Sources: Merc opposes and Juno sesquiquadrates Ceres–see what I mean? The real corker, though, is the Fist of God with base of Pluto-Black Moon Lilith, apex Virgoan Mercury–it funnels a good deal of existing but denied upset, shame, tension, desire for power, and thwarted Will into a critical assessment of what’s before us, including those with whom we interact–no wonder things explode! This lasts through its perfection on the 25th, at least.

Good Day To . . . 22 August 2020 The Flip Side

The 22nd Is A Good Day To . . . be aware that there might be a lot troubling us below the surface. The ways we have strayed from our own highest values, the ways we’ve failed to achieve particular goals, and the ways that hurt has crippled our ability to act effectively and to choose correctly will all be lurking under conscious awareness and so making us see ourselves in a particular, unflattering way. That means we could waste an entire day feeling bad and fearing we haven’t done what we need to do–which leads us to feeling bad about ourselves once again, and around and around.

What we need to know is this: at some point we will become aware of, even begin to obsess over, these whispering upsets, and it’s our job to realize that the lens through which we’re seeing things is shaped and distorted by the fears our imaginations cook up. Awareness that we have moved away from our ideals is a good thing, because it tells us what we need to do; pretending that there’s no way to re-align ourselves, to re-fresh our commitments, or to forgive ourselves for goals not met, is not. As the Sun moves into Virgo, use its bright spotlight to look at ways we can better reach for aims, handle details, assess matters, and better conduct ourselves, and remember: the flip side of criticism is forgiveness.

The 21st Is A Good Day To . . . know your own mind. The danger is that the social order will, let’s just be blunt, try to feed you a line of bullsh*t–and it’s up to you to recognize the unhealthiness of what’s presented. The way the instincts naturally recoil, if we pay heed, will tell us all we need to know about the veracity of the material. The Sun and Mercury will be parallel, though Merc will be in Virgo and the Sun in that last, stressed degree of Leo, possibly indicating some jarring criticisms of the Self that shake us mightily–and, if we accept them, that set us up to swallow the ‘un-facts’ the social sphere will try to persuade us are not just reality, but possibly our only option (Merc sesq Jupiter). There’s a cost to not listening to what we know (Venus semi-sq Sedna), to our inner wisdom, or just to that plain, cut-to-the-chase practical voice that sounds when we must cut through the confusion and find our way.

‘An der Marktmauer’ By Karl Hermann Otto Müller-Samerberg 1946 {{PD}}

The 20th Is A Good Day To . . . take a step back. As we have so often lately, we’re prompted to invest in something decidedly unwise–but why? We’re seriously alienated from our own instincts; call it a lack of Self-trust, a lack of trust in the Universe, or maybe just an unwillingness to see reality as it is (for to see it would mean we would have to deal with it). Whatever it is, we’re bleeding assets (friends, intimate relationships, money, things we value), breeding unsureness around who we are at core, and prompting ourselves to question our very purpose–and none of that is good–in fact, it’s not just passively negative, it’s actively damaging. Our best course today might be titled, ‘No Sudden Moves’. The inclinations are so subliminally pessimistic that keeping our balance temporarily is key to not succumbing to despair or nihilism. Stick to what you know, and don’t let this overly gloomy lens persuade you it’s the real state of things–it’s just not. No blame of yourself or others, and a little kindness, is the most effective way to get through the day.

The 19th Is A Good Day To . . . ask yourself what’s the worst choice you could make? The influences are such that we may be tempted to burn it all down to the ground, spurred by everything we wish wasn’t so, by every lie we’ve told ourselves, by every instinct we reject. We are quite clearly focused on meeting goals and fulfilling ambitions; it’s all the things we refuse to see, refuse to handle, that get in our way. We have an unhealthy passion to gaze into the abyss, and then we’re shocked when it gazes back! But there’s nothing in that dark space of the heart that we didn’t put there ourselves, and that should be reassuring: there is nothing that we’ve made, at least energetically, that can’t be unmade. Refuse to destroy, refuse to entertain that ‘worst choice’, and instead transform what’s before you–it’s not only the best thing to do, it’s the right and responsible thing to do.

Good Day To . . . 17 August 2020 Absorb the Truth

‘Parti fra Vejle’ By Constantin Hansen 1853 {{PD}}

The 17th Is A Good Day To . . . accept change, accept expansion, accept the facts, accept the original thought, accept ‘the message’ at the center of everything. The ‘real deal’, a knowing about the Truth of things, is available to us today; receiving it only requires a mind quieted enough to lack resistance to reality–not necessarily easily done, but an admirable goal nonetheless. We may, courtesy of the Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury and the Dark of the Moon, be able to simply absorb that Truth. Succeed at getting out of your own way, and you’ll have a better understanding of authority, power, and privilege, and a vision of how You, as a part of the Universe, fit in. Hints for success: don’t reject authority, power, the status quo, or current circumstances without having a clear and particularized vision of what can and should replace it–this is a warning that to be a rebel has two parts, getting rid of the old and creating anew–it can’t just be tearing down, which is the part most of us seize upon and never move past–and both creativity and deception lurk in the areas of ambition and desire fulfillment, and it’s important to sort the false from the true as we reach for our goals; otherwise we can be led seriously astray, and so lose today’s chance to accumulate a little mojo.

A New Moon forms at 7:42 PM PDT of the 18th at 26 Leo 35, and we know that New Moons foster beginnings; in Leo this can take the shape of a ‘New You’, a new image within one’s own mind or visible on the outside with changes to behavior, efforts, or style, or a fresh approach to one or more of the subjects of the House where this falls in your natal chart. Leo asks us to look at our own effectiveness, the roles we are playing: are we having an impact? Do we shine? Are we drawing the kinds of attention we actually want? The New Moon situation gives us a chance to assess this, or sends us on a quest to find our answers, should the need for review feel new to us.

In this instance the NM comes right after the Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, suggesting that something related to the Leo energy has reached a peak or conclusion, the message received concerning ourselves and our activities or presentation. Then the NM Fire arrives and sparks new ideas–what arose from the SC leads us to the necessity of a Leonine new beginning, new venture, new Self, that realization or even the launch of the new effort coming with the NM.

Lunar crater Aristarchus {{PD}}

We see the New Moon fill in a Fire Grand Trine with Mars and the South Node. Our actions and choices at this juncture may be aimed at correcting, re-working, or trying again something from the past. It takes a new form, of course, one more in keeping with who we are right now, appropriate to our individual evolutionary point (Leo). The Sun-Moon/ Earth axis also forms a T-square with Sedna, implying tension around our ‘blind spot’ and/ or our instinctual nature; in this case the world may be telling us we’re one thing, but what we don’t see but carry within may contradict that, typically on a non-verbal level. That could lead to rejection of the New You presented, a crisis as the individual doesn’t accept what’s reflected back to them. If this occurs it likely means that there’s something we don’t see about ourselves that we are now required to recognize–and likely as not this is a good thing, a talent or ability, something secure or steadfast (Sedna in Taurus) that we have failed to see as our own.

There’s also a semi-square to Venus, which suggests the state we find ourselves in may make for small difficulties or an uncomfortable time in relationships or even financially, not surprising if we find ourselves re-vamping our Self-image. But the closest aspect made by the New Moon is the quincunx to Saturn. This frames the New Moon revelations as needed adjustment to the reality picture. Saturn stands for both reality itself (a cold, unadorned version) and a principle of measurement–more repression or less, stricter rules or more lenient, more Self-discipline or a loosening of strictures? What happens at the New Moon makes clear the need to make this adjustment, specific to the Leonine personal need that’s revealed. Overall, the real-world feedback we receive must be accommodated, but it’s up to each of us to discern how this best can be addressed.

The New Moon is involved with one more configuration, as it forms a base with the North Node to a Finger of God with apex Saturn. This is notable aside from the quincunx alone as it tells us that the adjustments we make will require adjustments to the life direction. Simple as that: as we change, so does our Path.

The Sabian for the New Moon needs no explanation: ‘The Luminescence Of Dawn In The Eastern Sky’. It’s a new day, a new dawn, and each of us gets both a fresh understanding of ourselves and a fresh start, or even a do-over. Embrace it with gratitude.

I don’t normally discuss other factors at the time of a New or Full Moon, as I believe that the event typically exerts a strong but temporary influence that predominates. This time, though, I want to point out a very close quincunx between Neptune in Pisces and Zeus-Juno in Libra, as they’re all within just a handful of minutes from exact and so possibly as prominent in the equation as the New Moon itself. The effect is one of laser-like attention trained on ambitions, goals, and desires, the need for the kind of empowerment that can make them happen. We may become acutely aware of the adjustments needed to open the space (probably emotional or mental) for expression of the creative urge, or of a need to create a means of ridding the Self of deceptive others or misconceptions, or possibly both. It’s a sort of closet cleaning meant to facilitate autonomy, creativity, and the confidence to pursue our goals, particularly to pursue them without having to acquiesce to others.

Oh, and Pluto is retrograding to perfect (by the next day) an opposition to Hygeia–don’t gamble with your health.

The 16th Is A Good Day To . . . do it! Today we get a massive green light for our actions; we have the clout, knowledge, personal authority, and receive the cooperation we need to get ‘it’ done. With the benefits to action obvious, and so much clarity of thought in place, what could possibly hold us back? Only one thing, ourselves, specifically if we choose to indulge in either behavior rooted in old wounds, or if we see it as the chance to deliver some (in our judgment) much-deserved wounding ourselves. If we’ve avoided acknowledging our anger, our rage, of late, or if we haven’t admitted that we, like everyone, carry destructive energies, these may well up and assert themselves through our choices and conduct–but otherwise, if we can avoid denying our feelings, we can go forward with rewarding, even stellar, results.

A Good Day To . . . is based on the aspects perfecting on each day, Pacific time.

Today’s Word Image is from a dream I had last night. As dreams often do, they present us with scenarios that seem perfectly logical while we’re in the dream, but that become odd and difficult to convey once we’re awake. In this case there was a new ‘invention’, a thing made of paper that was both a book and a car, but that didn’t actually go around like a car–it instead acted as a ‘place holder’ for a parking spot on a busy street–and it could fold into many shapes and be used as a carry-all–and this was aside from the way it held a story/ information that was chiefly meant to be read. This paper construction was something my younger sister (I don’t have one) and I were giving to our father (not my real-life father), and the whole thing was set in a place called Mission Bay.

Old timey ephemera aimed at the clog-seeker. {{PD}}

I know what this dream means for me, but what would it mean for you, if it were yours? What ephemeral (often applied to paper works seen as of temporary interest, from the Greek word ‘ephemeros’, meaning ‘lasting only a day’, or ‘short-lived’) but useful construct is both new and useful to/ gifted to the ‘responsible’ (Saturnian ‘father’ figure, or the Sun as the dynamic identity oriented toward Self-realization) part of yourself? What is your narrative around duty, work, obligation, Self-control, as it applies right now, however fleetingly, in the moment? What story are you telling yourself about achievement, about ‘getting there’? What do you see as your Fate? What do you need to tell yourself that makes a mental ‘space’ for when you need to propel yourself forward, and what ‘baggage’ have you stored in it (and that can include those stories you tell yourself about who you are and where you’re going)? Just some things to ponder. Have a wonderful Sunday!

The 15th Is A Good Day To . . . to pause, because circumstances today may suggest a pull back from, disintegration of, or dismissal of some kind of understanding, such that we may not be able to press our case in its absence. This is definitely disappointing, and likely relates to matters of the House Uranus rules in your natal chart (subjects of the House holding Aquarius), the matters of the House it’s currently transiting, or a matter that we might classify as ‘purely Uranian’, such as our own or others’ Higher Mind perceptions and capacity for understanding, riots or other chaotic events, or an electrical storm, for example, prompted by Uranus turning retrograde. We see a chance for greater integration crumble or dissipate in some way, and we can’t help but feel let down. The key here, though, is to realize that the issue and/ or ours or others’ perceptions of it, need more time to ‘stew’. They’re not fully formed, not ready for manifestation in their most appropriate form–and we must be patient, knowing that the point for moving forward on this will arrive–it’s just not today, and probably not for awhile. Remind yourself that the Universe has your best interests at core, that timing is something it understands far better than we can–and so know that this disappointment is telling you that what you were anticipating isn’t meant for now, at least not as it would occur in the present.

Deep breath, and turn your attention to some sort of change you see needed right now–and then go to it.
