Ceres, Moon in Capricorn, My Astro Diary

As much fun as I had over my Solar Return vacation, it was still a rough ride, and without actually having to consciously choose, my life has changed. Internal shifts were presented as both necessary and inevitable–I don’t feel like I have a choice, while at the same time what must happen (what has, in effect, already happened) feels like an appropriate expression of my Soul intent at this point in time; this means that there’s no conflict for me in what’s developed, though there is a little regret at losing a particular rhythm that was stressful but had become comfortable, and for a time suited me very well.

The part that affects all of you centers on the way I will be spending my days on other than astrology. I won’t stop doing it, but I will be doing things only when I want to, which means the daily posts are (probably) a thing of the past. I will continue ECLIPSE for as long as it’s feasible; the goal is to cut down the time I spend on the computer every day from 8+ hours to no more than 2. I can’t accommodate what feels like a personal mandate to fulfill another part of myself if I’m chained to this machine–this part of the change is made quite consciously, though what I’ll be filling my days with is open to many forms–and I’m excited to see where my impulse takes me.

What else has changed? I seem to have become a vegetarian. I know! Weird! I have always been a meat-lover–but, suddenly, not anymore. I’m not saying this is a forever thing–if meat appeals to me tomorrow, I will eat it–and there’s no ideological basis for this, though I’ve long believed that as a species we would evolve away from eating other living things–but never thought something so basic in me would change overnight. It’s just one of the shifts in my life this past week, and serves to show just how fundamental some of the new directions are for me.

There are lots of options out there for astrological advice and forecasts–choose wisely and with care. A handful of sources, at the most, or just one that you vibe to, are all anyone needs. I’ll expand even further the forecast contents in ECLIPSE, so that those who want to know how I see things still have a way to find out.

As for what’s up now: Ceres entered Capricorn a few days ago, and she makes slow progress, still at 00. My feeling is that Ceres is very much at home in Capricorn; she abhors a vacuum, and Cap is structure from the cell to the firmness of the Earth herself–together they fill and contain, cradle and create–they are the point where the natural fertility and abundance meets form and structure. We cannot, figuratively speaking, hold a bowl without it filling with something, almost before we know it. No space is left empty by Mother Nature–and this means that we may find some odd combinations, where spiders move in to shoes and it doesn’t especially bother us, and we prefer the dying flowers to an empty vase. The bounty is everywhere, in all its phases, which means decay is as big a part of what fills our spaces as is the flower or the fruit. Learn to work with this anti-emptiness as it will be a theme. The fussier among us may be frustrated by the temporary inability to clear out and lock down, and authorities may present as much more formidable than usual. Remember it’s just Ceres doing her best to fit her abundance, the variety of life and death, into those things that appear static, rigid, and uncompromising–we can all benefit from the union.

Vesta sextiles Pluto and Pallas rides the midpoint, offering a unique opportunity to edit our lives; we can see where to make the smart cuts, where to resurrect, where to destroy. It’s housecleaning that preserves what’s most important to us as we do the wise thing–no regrets or gaffes possible, IF we listen to the voice of our inner wisdom, and honor what really matters.

Starting with the Moon’s entry into Capricorn (9:16 PM PDT the 12th)  look for a feeling of emotions trodden by cloven hooves–I hate to be dramatic (or at least, I hate to be overly dramatic!) but that’s how it may feel for many during this Moon transit. Evil will be barefoot, traipsing over the Soul, and kicking us, whether we’re up or down. Relief doesn’t really come until just before noon PDT on the 14th–but by then, any damage may already be done, pacts with the devil signed, and we won’t see what kind of partnership we’re really in until the 15th-16th (Merc Superior Conjunction with the Sun in Libra). If we don’t react too much from hurt feelings or the idea that we’re powerless (which is an illusion) we should be able to avoid major ill effects.

And whatever you do, have a great one!

Ceres, Moon in Aquarius, My Daily Astrology Diary, Pluto, Saturn

So, I had a post I was ready to write, but really don’t want to devote so much time to it, even though I’m seeing and hearing about it from many, so here’s a summary: if you’re giving something away, really give it away; if you start feeling resentful or have expectations that something specific will come back to you from the giftee (or worse, that it should come back to you, because they should be grateful) then this was not a gift at all, it was a demand. Saturn is giving many hell right now (remember those people who insisted on saying, “Heaven-o” when they answered the phone? No reasonable person should take it that literally–would it have helped for them to know that ‘hell’ means ‘light’ in many Germanic languages? Probably not) and, still involved with Pluto, brings forward some strong Saturnian needs, which often include expectations we have of others, especially when we’re not getting our material reality needs met–Pluto digs up our deep fears, our power needs, our trepidation over our own possible destruction, that we might ‘poof’ disappear entirely, and applies it to our reality (Saturn)–and so there’s a tendency to demand from others proof that what we’ve done is worthy, that we are not pouring our energy into an abyss, that we will not dwindle away to nothingness, that we are significant. One of the most basic lessons of the Universe is that we should not necessarily expect our flow to come out of the same pot we’ve contributed to; remembering that, plus being truly honest about our expectations, having no ulterior motive in interaction (as this contaminates the result; it means that even if we get what we want, it will not satisfy the need), will serve us well as the square bedevils us for some time. (And with Saturn going direct in less than 2 months, and Ceres cozying up to Pluto as we speak, we can expect an even greater crisis–or is that circus?–surrounding power and authority issues as they affect our status, place, and our reality.)

Bedeviled, of course. Image courtesy Wikimedia Commons {{PD-Art}}

This morning my husband, ready to leave, said, “Is it going to rain today?” Cue hail! Big thick sheets of ice stone, chattering on the pavement and bombarding the garden; but now, after twenty minutes or so of downpour, it’s becoming incredibly beautiful out. The sky has cleared and lightened to a pale, pearly blue, the cedars are bejewelled with beads of water, and there are robins everywhere. Could I ask for a better harbinger? No, and neither could you; each of us is a translator for the Universe, and we do each other the service of seeing, speaking, interpreting–and what I’m seeing is a clearing of skies, a resolution to pressures and goals, that has a much better outcome than we’d previously anticipated. Relax–it requires nothing more of us than to be.

There are only a few things I want to mention: about midnight PDT on the 8th the Moon will oppose Vesta with a T-arm of Sedna=we may quite literally at this point forget what’s most important to us, and the Aquarian Moon will be very accommodating, offering rationalizations that make our abandonment of values seem oh-so-reasonable–obviously, this will not serve our best interests; and by 8 AM PDT on the 9th Neptune will sit at the midpoint of a tight little Aquarian config with the Moon and Chiron on either side=a very tricky point in the day, all dependent on your relationship to Chiron and Neptune–those laboring under delusions, or nurturing fantasies, will suffer mightily, while those guided by ideals and seeking to use unique skills will get a huge emotional boost–try to be in the latter category.

After a spontaneous two day vacation, I’m back–and what catches my eye? You may be disappointed, as I’m seeing something ‘flavor’ the day that I normally wouldn’t count: a Yod made of an exact Ceres/ Mars quincunx, with Ceres sextile (but to a degree that would usually be about two degrees outside my FOG standard) to Chiron at stressful 29 degrees of Aquarius. Between the anaretic degree for our favorite centaur and the exactitude of the other quincunx I think we have some latitude here–so what does it say?

A wonderful painting of Ceres 'putting her foot down'--this is the lead image in my Ceres article featured in the Spring issue of 'Eclipse' Michele Pannonio 1450 {{PD-Art}}

It tells us the action urge is strong, and that we are feeling the authority, the right, to carry out our Will–but that we must be extremely careful that what we choose to act on is not propelled by the primal wound (and we can find a million ways to rationalize and justify acting that hurt out, if we are not scrupulously honest); instead we must make sure that we utilize our most unique skill, that higher expression of Chiron that can be hard to pinpoint, but the spirit of which must nevertheless permeate our chosen activities today. The Moon in Capricorn has just passed over that soon-to-be perfect conjunction of Pluto and Ceres, and the recent exposure of the unconscious to these two energies will make intuiting our way through the challenge of perpetrating ‘right action’ all the easier.

Also of note: Mercury conjunct Venus, both square Mars, suggests that rational thought, reasoning, relationships, and values may all gang-up and conflict with what we want–and their trine to Ceres says those energies will also feel they have the authority to nix action. This points even more strongly toward the Moon in Cap intuition as the necessary guide to today’s activities.

And have a great one!

2 April 2010: God’s ‘To-Do’ List

April forecast, Ceres, Chiron, Christine N. Davis, Earth, Finger of God, Jude Cowell, My Daily Astrology Diary, Saturn, the Asteroid Zeus, the Magazine, Venus

Let's pretend this is God's to-do list {{PD}} via Wikimedia Commons

Or we could say ‘Universal Mandate,’ like it’s health care (!) but whatever we call it, it may underlie more transitory aspects and add a feeling both fated and stressful–a perfect combination if we’re sailing along, unconscious, to make us act out in some pretty primal, down ‘n dirty ways–so watch for this, as you’re likely to encounter it at least once or twice along the way (I know you, gentle reader, aren’t acting unconsciously–you wouldn’t be here if you were!) The Finger of God of which we speak can be used by the aware to channel reactionary energies into constructive action. Apex Saturn with a base of Mercury conjunct Venus sextile Chiron speaks to actualizing values and some of our most unique and personal talents in service of accomplishment, particularly accomplishment that involves aesthetics and/ or partnership/ relationships. It all may feel precipitous, like we’re just starting out (the 00 placements of Saturn and Mercury) and the wound may compete with those already mentioned talents for use of the energy (Chiron at 29 degrees) but it’s our job to funnel the energies in useful ways–and we can get started, just as soon as the Moon enters Sagittarius (9:52 AM PDT).

We’ve discussed the Moon’s immediate reaction upon changing signs in yesterday’s entry; after that, the day is dominated by the Finger and a couple of other aspects: Venus trine Ceres, and the Earth conjunct Zeus. The former contact brings power to all things Venusian, making us able to achieve in Art, in expressing values, and in expressing love, but here’s where we also must take care, as Ceres can urge us to intrude on the province of others (see my in-depth article in the upcoming spring issue of ‘ECLIPSE’). The latter contact, of Earth and Zeus, simply magnifies material concerns and the materialization of the products of Will and ambition–so expect a big push forward, especially from those who are instituting ‘Big Plans.’ This suggests that any who are acting unconsciously may actually be a bit dangerous, as their need to make their own wants and goals happen may override every other consideration–just make sure you aren’t one of them!

A Meeting Between the Queen of the Mountain and the King of the Sea

Ceres, Juno, Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Venus

juno So have the past few days just been an anticipation of this meeting between Juno, Queen of Olympus, and her brother-in-law Neptune, King of the Oceans? The run up to this through the Moon’s Dark period suggests the nature of the meeting may sneak up on us, and, depending on our circumstances, we may see what’s eventually revealed in one of several ways.

This may represent exactly what it sounds like, an instance of adulterous betrayal, a turning-to of one person to an inappropriate other; and what is the crime? A sharing that should not be, a breaking of trust and confidence between a commited pair, or revenge–after all, Juno was married to the biggest rake of all time, Jupiter/ Zeus, who, once the honeymoon was over, thought nothing of pursuing anyone he fancied; maybe Juno’s had enough of that. It can also signal a meeting between the heights and the depths, between the intellect and the emotions that may drive it, or symbolize an encounter between those inhabiting two entirely different environments, with probably predictably tumultuous results.

The cuckolded King of the gods

The cuckolded King of the gods

Or maybe for you this is more subtle, not the alliance of two gods, but an anima/animus clash that sees the female energies exercising Will and ego, and the male energies confused, delusional, or trying to realize a dream; in this instance, you may be attuned to the semi-sextile of Venus in Aries to Mars in Pisces. These two make oblique contact and we may see a reversal of the typical receptivity/ aggression labels; the usual suspects behave in opposite character in relation to each other, which can bring disorientation or behavior that is out-of-sync with one’s true nature. It can also bring forward struggles or disputes that are not really concerned with the subject, but with the too passive stance of what should be active, and/or the too assertive stance of what should be less defensive.

Or this may take a materially-centered tone with you, where the power that exerts overt control over all that can be seen must negotiate with he who rules all that is unseen, shown by Ceres’ trine to Pluto. This may be the easiest situation to deal with, as the interplay is relatively smooth and both sides end up satisfied (trine). The fact that the bargained-for items refer to tangible assets or physical things helps, as well; being able to see and weigh the objects of the negotiation makes it much easier to handle. This may in particular refer to situations of obtaining credit, negotiating for an initial salary or pay raise, the matter of possession of assets, or in choosing material investments.

Mercury moves into Aries before the Pisces Moon can come along by conjunction, so emotional perceptions about these past few days may not be completely formed into communicatable thoughts and words; this recent period may just be like a long dream that upon waking we are unable to share with others, but are molded by, or even haunted by, just the same.

‘What You’re Asking’: What About Mom? Saturn in Infancy + Flights of Fancy

8th House, Albert Einstein, Ceres, Chiron, Jupiter, Moon, Pluto, Saturn

What’s the effect of an 8th House Moon on mother’s life?

This is a tough one, simply because the question’s not clear, so we’ll look at it as many ways as possible, keeping in mind that the sign involved. the House(s) the Moon rules, and aspects may modify things considerably. First, if this is the querent’s Moon placed in the 8th, we’re talking about, among other things, this as an indicator of how she or he views her or his own mother; as such, Mom may have appeared to the child as having waters that ran deep; a certain amount of mystery may have surrounded this woman, a feeling that much of what’s important with her may be hidden. She also may have been perceived as either being vital to or as one of the assets of others, or that she relied upon those assets in a way that impressed the child. The mother could have been seen as highly co-operative, darkly temperamental, destructive, secretive, or almost magical in her ability to procure the aid of others, to re-generate resources, or to make something out of nothing. It also describes how the querent sees (for a woman) the idea of being a mother herself, in this case it may feel a bit scary, hard to fathom, mysterious, or that it may take one to the depths of the Soul, or of experience, along the way. If the querent is a man, then this reps his attitude toward those women he sees in a non-sexual light; he may see them as powerful, destructive, vengeful, deep, magnetically attractive–it may in some cases suggest he sees or is aware of the sexual potential in all women–or he may see them as possessions, all of whom belong to someone else! Much depends on his own 8th House and his relationship to Pluto; the more comfortable he is with his own Plutonic urges, the more he will see women in general in a positive light.

If this question actually applies to one’s mother’s chart, then we’re looking at how she saw her own mother, and how she may view the role of mothering in her life; that latter would be the attitude she had toward her children. She may see them as affecting her to the core, destroying or changing her (possibly for the good), bringing rage or other dark emotions to the surface (again, not automatically bad in the least), and perhaps acting as a venue to ‘share’ with others, as a connection to them or as a means of sharing assets. For a few women, the child may quite literally be ‘insurance’ of some kind, while a few others will see the child as themselves re-born, and behave accordingly.

Saturn in infancy

Saturn can have some interesting meanings when associated with infancy and early childhood. Besides the obvious possibility of suppression of the child, or the encouragement of Self-repression, possible under some circumstances, we note that Saturn in the 1st, and particularly if it’s close to the Ascendant, can signify a difficult birth or early health concerns (the latter can be seen with a 2nd or 3rd House Saturn, as well). Saturn configured with the personal planets can suggest delay in development, particularly with Mercury (speech, thought). We have a good example, though, of how this isn’t necessarily something to be worried about, in physicist and stylish trendsetter (that hair! those cardigans!) Albert Einstein (14 March 1879  11:30 AM   Ulm Germany). al-einstein1

Einstein’s Saturn, which rules the 7th and 8th, sits in the 10th in Aries conjunct Pallas and Mercury, trine the South Node and sextile the North. Albert was significantly delayed in speaking, and was thought to be very slow in school, actually flunking math in the early grades. We can see both the origin of the delay, and the later brilliance of thought, in his Saturn situation: conjunct Mercury suggests the slowness to express, but it also implies that things might have been ‘building’ out of sight, and Pallas is wisdom. Involvement with the Nodes says two things: that Mom was involved (see Noel Tyl’s work for some excellent evidence in this direction) and that Saturn and Mercury combined were  funneled quite easily, married to past or unseen knowledge (South Node) and transferred through to the present and his own future development (North Node). Placement in Aries allowed him the ego and single-mindedness to do his work, and the 10th says this was public, both the delay and the brilliance. Ruling the 7th and 8th, Saturn in this case says he presented this work to an audience and received their support–and indeed, once he put his ideas out there he was able to think, teach, and work within the University system, and never had to return to the patent office again.

How rare is natal Chiron retrograde?

It’s not, and so far I’ve seen no difference in the way it expresses between retrograde and direct–but then regular readers here will recall that I’m not big on the retrograde status of a planet, simply because the meaning is found in relation to the other placements. All motion is apparent, from our position on Earth; the body doesn’t actually go backwards, and that’s something I find useful to keep in mind.

Focus on: aspects between Ceres and Jupiter

Here we’ll benefit in understanding by looking at these through the lens of their mythological roles. Ceres is the Mother Goddess, Mother Nature, specifically, probably the most powerful agent of creation and the life force this side of God/ the Universe, while Jupiter is another name for Zeus, who became the supreme god on Mt Olympus (he married his sister and fooled around alot, but that’s another story!) When they aspect each other in the natal chart, we’re looking at the meet-up of two very powerful forces, two entities with an enormous sense of authority and power.  Contact with Ceres often suggests one of two things: that the contacted energy must learn negotiation (this related to Ceres role as negotiator with Pluto for his ‘marriage’ to her daughter) and that one must discern one’s province, one’s appropriate boundaries (this, too, from the question of whether it’s correct for the mother to have negotiated her grown daughter’s future). Jupiter’s authority is that of society and its accumulated knowledge; paired with Ceres this can suggest that one must negotiate one’s place within the social order. Ceres and Jupiter together can also say that nature and what’s natural may be a ‘big deal’ to the individual, that one’s more controlling maternal instincts may be exaggerated, or that one either provides for society (like a farmer) or negotiates for society (like a diplomat). As always, sign and House placement, as well as other contacts, can significantly alter meaning here.

And finally, Flights of Fancy:

Would we be able to live on Neptune? and What are the qualities of a creature living on Saturn?

To the former question I say, alas, no; to the latter, I wonder what kind of creature? Whenever I see questions like this, my first thought is of the much stronger gravity of the two planets, compared to Earth, and how that would literally compress something from our world. So, in tongue-in-cheek answer to what the qualities of a creature living on Saturn might be, I’d say, horizontal.

‘What You’re Asking’: Retrogrades, Rapists, and Marrying Yourself

≈ Comments Off on ‘What You’re Asking’: Retrogrades, Rapists, and Marrying Yourself

astrology, Carolyn Myss, Ceres, Gavin de Becker, Psyche/ Eros, Retrogrades, Secondary Progression

Since the vast majority of recent searches have something to do with the current eclipse cycle, there wasn’t nearly the variety of queries from which to choose as I usually find, but of course, I did find some interesting questions worth addressing.

What is the meaning of natal Chiron retrograde?

There are a great many astrologers who put much interpretive stock in a planet or asteroid’s retrograde status, but I’m not one of them. I respect their reasoning; if it works in their interpretive picture, who am I to say otherwise? For myself, I’ve come to believe that, with retrogradation as an apparent, rather than a physical, phenomenon, it does have a meaning within our symbolic system, it’s just that, rather than giving the state of retrogradation its own meaning, I see the meaning as coming from the planet or point’s aspect picture to the other bodies, and particularly to the Sun. Each of the bodies that retrogrades does so in relation to the Sun, and so the meaning, for me, is held in the aspect picture, in the relationship, rather than in a simple direct or retrograde assessment. For instance, Uranus is always retrograde when it is opposed the Sun; this, then, has its own meaning, and keeps the focus on the relationship between the two bodies. Uranus will never ever ever be direct when opposing the Sun–and the parsing out of Uranian energies to Soul energies will reflect this dissonance, this oppositional stance–we don’t need to label Uranus as anything but what it is essentially, in that sign and House; understanding comes of the way it works, of its attitude, as it does for each of us in learning about ourselves, in our relationships to one another and the world that surrounds us.

The one exception I make to this is in Secondary Progression. I think its most useful function is to alert us to the fundamental change in energy that a body undergoes on changing direction. When a planet that has been direct all one’s life goes retrograde by Secondary Progression, the internal form of the energy seems to be drawn back in upon itself; these periods almost always insist on a long, slow mulling of the forms the energy takes in the life, and, eventually, modifications that bring it forward once more. The opposite is also true: when a planet goes direct by Secondary Progression we typically see leaps forward in either the understanding of or in dealing with the energy.

What does the natal chart of a rapist look like?

I’ve never had a client who was a rapist (that I know of!), so I have no first hand knowledge, but my interest in this was piqued about ten years ago, when my daughter Alex first became actively interested in boys and dating, but would on occasion comment, “I don’t like that guy; he’s got a rapist vibe.” Well of course she was joking and exaggerating, but conveying an essential truth at the same time: to her senses, this individual would not recognize another person’s autonomy, would not respect their boundaries, physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental, and so was not a good person with whom to interact. She felt that, eventually, someone like that would ‘rape’ all they contacted, one way or another.

I began, then, to think of rape in terms that perhaps would show some or all of these characteristics in the personality, and thus in the chart. We know that rape is not a crime of sex or desire but a crime of aggression and violence. Some possibilities (and naturally, many will have some of these placements and they will not be rapists–or, they may be the kind of rapists society condones, those who harm mentally or emotionally, and thus are hard to recognize or pin down, or whose aggressive tendencies are funneled into professions where it’s very difficult to pick the healthy person from the rapist, until they are put under pressure–and we’re including those who rape the spirit, as well–the military, the clergy, the prosecutorial, the protective, or any line of work that puts others at one’s mercy or under one’s authority, even parents–so nearly everyone, in one role or another): a sociopathic unconcern with the feelings or welfare of others is a main feature (Venus, Moon, and/ or the Sun wounded by Chiron, Pluto, or Saturn); aggression that may have a ‘back door’ into many life areas, such as a lot of placements in Aries or Scorpio, a strong Pluto, and almost any ego or Self-related energy that is somehow trapped, possibly by interception, posited in the 12th, or with few or no aspects–you may be wondering why I don’t list Mars, and the fact is that it’s such a fundamental expression of ego and action that it tends to be able to find its way ‘out’ no matter what! Classics include Mars/ Pluto contacts, but I find that they must be involved in some other precipitating factors before they are actually volatile, and if either or both are configured with Saturn they can be harnessed for good, with 50/50 chances of positive expression in cases where, for example, they are configured with Jupiter (big exaggeration OR society provides the standards and restraints). Neptune is also often a strong factor, either by matching their own behavior to unrealistic ideals and expectations (which are often imposed upon others–‘Carrie”s mother is a perfect example!) or through a twisted use of the Neptunian charm, ability to obscure, to delude, to present an illusory image to others. Of course there are as many possibilities as there are people; it all comes down to choices about how we use the energies that we have. See the works of Caroline Myss for more on the ways that we can suffer (and inflict) an energy of rape without ever laying a hand on another. THE GIFT OF FEAR by Gavin de Becker is essential reading for all women in our society, and gives excellent descriptions that will help your instincts overcome your programming.

What is the meaning of Psyche and Eros conjunct?

First, you know I use Arcturus as the planet Psyche, not the designated asteroid, based on Michael Munkasey’s work, and I do this because it works. You don’t say whether this is a synastric aspect between charts or in a single natal chart, so, synastry first: since Eros and Psyche were happily married, this could be one interpretive suggestion, though beware jealous and possessive mothers-in-law, catty sisters, and hot oil lamps. If this is in a natal chart, it could suggest a high degree of Self-satisfaction and a feeling of Self-completion, good for confidence but unlikely to support positive relationship interaction, simply because one may lack a driving need for another–look at the state of Venus and Mars, the state of the 7th of all others, as well as the overall Sun picture, to determine the possible impact.

What is the meaning of quincunx Ceres?

There is no meaning to this phrase, and here’s why: aspects are relative, and bodies gain their meaning in connection to points or bodies, so this is like saying, “A cookie is better.” Better than what? There is an implied comparative here, and without it, the phrase on its own is meaningless. We can’t even say, ‘in aspect Ceres acts like this’ because she will act differently with different energies–quincunx a partner’s Mars, perhaps, she may come across as motherly, and if she doesn’t adjust (quincunx) she’ll quash any potential romance; quincunx one’s own Pluto, one may be drawn to gardening, nature conservancy, baking, basket weaving, or negotiating quite early in life. So, like everything else, context is all–sit back, have a cookie, and don’t worry about it.

A Heat Wave, Ants Invade, Progress is Made

It’s not supposed to be 93 in May in Oregon, but it is; why does reality constantly contradict what’s ‘supposed to be’? That’s so irritating. For once curious about the weather, I looked at the current aspects, just to see what I could see (or imagine, or make up). At first I had no idea what to look for; should I concentrate on elements, certain ‘weather-y’ planet characteristics, hard aspects? (And I’ll apologize right now to those who are more knowledgeable about mundane astrology than am I–I’m making this up as I go along!) Then it jumped out at me: Chiron/ Neptune/ the North Node conjunct in Aquarius, trine Mercury/ Ceres in Gemini, Mercury semi-square Mars in Leo. Debilitating (or perhaps wounding) weather, very humid (fog formed yesterday morning, with temps in the high 70s), a sign of climate change? (NN), contacting changeability and the seasons/ Mother Nature, all in Air, heated up by hard contact to Mars in Fire. Hot air. That describes so much!

Have you heard about the ants that crawled off a cargo ship in Houston two years ago and have now taken over five Texas counties? Dubbed ‘Raspberry Ants’ for the exterminator who first identified them, they are blanketing Pearland, and moving northwest. The good news: they eat Fire Ants, and their own bite is very mild; the bad news: they are unaffected by existing pesiticides. We see a possible indicator of their arrival two years ago with the Ceres/ Neptune conjunction–Mother Nature sneaks in under Neptunian obscuring cover. So why are we hearing about it now? I’m going back to that same well, with the Ceres/ Mercury conjunction in Gemini trine Neptune/ Chiron/ NN, communication, nature, the obscured facet revealed, the skills we need to develop (or is it Neptune, the poison we’ll create?) to deal with this; and today the Moon briefly creates a Grand Trine, perhaps making the importance of this obvious to all. The involvement of the North Node at this point suggests to me that we’re just recognizing that this may be ‘where we’re headed,’ and that it won’t just peter out, but needs to be addressed.

Two days ago my husband received an offer for a new job–it means a promotion, and also a move. The Universe truly does work in mysterious ways. The time when he was offered the job put transiting Sun conjunct exact N Jupiter, and the T Ascendant exact conjunct his MC. But what am I to make of the four horaries that all pointed toward this coming Tuesday, the 20th, as the day of resolution? I’m very curious to see what next week brings–he’s accepted the job, but no paperwork has been signed–in fact, it won’t be until June 16th. I do not like the looks of this day, and am going to ask him to change it to the 23rd (his other option to start). Among the problems: Mercury is retrograde, Pluto is back in Sag, Jupiter is quincunx the South Node, Chiron is conjunct the North Node, and the Sun is sextile Vesta (these latter three are exact). Some of this doesn’t change in just a week, but at least Merc would be direct, with paperwork on that date initiated before the Moon goes Void of Course. Though not an ideal situation (he’ll have to drive one and a half hours each way until we can move), we are grateful and in many ways, it’s a vast improvement over the current, soon-to-end situation. Many thanks to all who offered their kind words and support during yet another personal crisis! I hope that means I’m done with those for a while. UPDATE: The horaries were right! He received a second job offer, for even more money, in an even better situation. Now, I almost delight in bad news, for like Jung I immediately think, “What good will come of this?” I’ve got so much proof that that’s true!
