‘Salida de la Luna’ Guillermo Gomez y Gil 1906 {{PD-Art}}

I’m prompted to add the Sabians for tomorrow’s Full Moon, already seen in ECLIPSE:

The Sabian for this Full Moon is, ‘The Harvest Moon Illumines a Clear Autumnal Sky’ . In this instance, we are the Moon: changeable, intuitive, reflecting the light as spirit, and the sky is, of course, the Universe. We find our place, or at least understand it a little better, illumined in our purpose and function. The Sun’s Sabian is, ‘A Group Of Aristocratic Ladies Meet Ceremonially At A Court’s Function’. This , I think, refers to the Collective Feminine, which is in some ways the ‘civilizing’ influence on the animus. The court, in this instance, is the Universe, but this time we may be referring to Sedna’s role in the Full Moon: she is the intuitive knowing of Woman, the Life-Death-Life force as it manifests in nature and is then organized (the Court, Ceremonially) to the benefit of (Wo)Man. This time it is the experience of all women (‘Aristocratic’ suggesting the nobility of feeling involved) through time that ‘lights the way’ to our understanding, and suggests that for men at this Full Moon, enlightenment will come through his experience of the women in his life, resulting in a deep balance of knowing and feeling for both sexes.

From the latest ECLIPSE; get it now to get your upcoming Solar eclipse influences in order!

November 6th: Besides the retrograde of Mercury (at 3:03 PM PST at 4 Sagittarius 18) we have Juno sextile Zeus, Venus sesquiquadrate the South Node, the Sun quincunx Jupiter, and the Earth as apex to a Finger of God with base of Juno-Zeus. What a tidy little package (most of ) this makes! Though Mercury may be taking a great deal of our attention, we really should keep an eye on that Finger, as it describes a power struggle by a pair of Olympians (the US election?) one of whom feels terminally disrespected and who’s out for revenge, while the other holds all the real power–you figure out who’s who! When we look at the Sabian for the Earth at this point, we get this: ‘Head Covered With a Rakish Silk Hat, Muffled Against the Cold, A Man Braves A Storm’ That says to me that Frankenstorm Sandy will not succeed in keeping voters home–and possibly suggests a minimum of Merc-style problems, at least for the election.

The Venus-SN aspect, as well as the Sun-Jupiter one, describe an active social arena where both the past and the reality situation will have to be respected if anyone is to gain. Obviously, adjustments will need to be made by all parties–but in the end this will be worth it–and I have a sense that, at least on a smaller scale, this may usher in a new era, one that is both more practical, more kind, and more rewarding for all concerned.

On the Sabian for the Taurus Full Moon of 29 October 2012: ‘Never Thirst Again’

‘Well, Millstone, and Cistern Under Trees’ Cezanne c1870 {{PD-Art}}

The Full Moon arrives at 12:48PM PDT of the 29th at 6 Taurus 47. Commentary on the meaning of the Full Moon is from the latest issue of ECLIPSE; this particular excerpt discusses the Sabian symbol for the meeting of Moon and Earth:

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘The Woman of Samaria at the Ancestral Well’. In the New Testament of the Bible, this is the woman who goes to the well as Jesus sits near it, and since he has no equipment with which to reach into the well and pull up water, he asks her for a drink. Apparently this surprises her, as the Jews and the Samaritans did not at that time interact; they begin a conversation, where Jesus talks of the power of knowing God as water, and famously tells her that if she drinks from the well, she’ll be thirsty again, while if she drinks in the spiritual sense, she’ll never thirst again. It’s notable, though, that she’s only convinced that Jesus knows what he’s talking about when he speaks of her 5 previous husbands, and that she lives now with a man she’s not married to–then she declares Jesus a prophet. She knows of the prophecy of the Messiah who will be called the Christ, and Jesus declares himself to be this figure. The suggestion may be that in some way we are, at this Full Moon, the woman of Samaria in spirit, lead to spiritual enlightenment (and this is not specifically a Christian enlightenment–I’m simply playing off the symbol and the story) by someone we would not usually encounter or have an exchange with, who ‘sees’ into us in a way we don’t think is possible, and who in some way acts as a spiritual example for us.

The Full Moon in Libra occurs at 12:18 PM PDT today, the 6th, at 17 Libra 23. Here’s what I think the Sabian for this Moon/ Earth point says (quoted from ECLIPSE): “‘Two Men Placed Under Arrest’ I see this as two animus-oriented impulses within us that must be stopped; doing is no longer the answer, it’s not even a catch-all to guarantee progress at something. What we do now must be meaningful, and it must carry both our ambitions and our philosophy forward.”

Full Moon July 2010: Culminatous Interruptus

Full Moon, Moon in Aquarius, Sabian Symbols

The Full Moon for July occurs on the 25th at 6:36 PM Pacific time at 2 Aquarius 59. First we’ll look at it using our strict 2 degree orb for events, then we’ll expand our view slightly, and see if this might bring in other, more subtle factors.

The Moon/ Earth conjunction in Aquarius has only two aspects, a sextile to Jupiter in Aries, and a semi-sextile to Pluto in Capricorn (and of course, the opposition to the Sun that is the reason for the event in the first place!) A meeting of Moon and Earth in a sign that’s all about cerebral concepts is not a great fit; the emotions and intuition ‘ground’ themselves in the material environment–an excellent concept in itself, connecting the emotions and extrasensory input to the physical surroundings, creating an understanding that is greater than its parts–but the sign in which this occurs, Aquarius, is mental, rather than intuitive, and doesn’t get any more physical than electricity, itself essentially invisible. That means our Moon/ Earth meeting, a time when the combination of these most ephemeral attributes in interplay with our material world should be coming to intuitive and emotional culmination through both the spirit and material results, will likely not reach a fulfilling conclusion, not because this isn’t available, but because we will try to translate things through the mind (Aquarius) only; there will be influences from our own dark or practical nature and from external destructive forces (Pluto in Cap) and pressure from the social sphere to perceive things in a particular manner that emphasizes ego fulfillment and separateness (the ‘I am society, and society is me’ of Jupiter in Aries).

What if we widen our orb? Does this make anything about the situation any clearer (or, what we’re really looking for, does it give us a way out of an inevitable misperception?) If we widen our orb to 3 degrees, we bring in a sextile to Uranus at the Aries Point, and a trine to Saturn in Libra. Hmm, this may help us pinpoint ‘trouble sources’ that could be what tries to push us in the wrong direction for a successful intuitive/ spiritual/ material culmination. The sextile to Uranus suggests, perhaps, two things: one, that our own rebellious nature, intellectual bent, Higher Mind, or wish to be different might steer us wrong–or, two, that a group or social cataclysm (not necessarily a disaster, but rather a group demand) might come forward and in effect disconnect us from our own intuitive nature–and so disconnect us from our chance to gain a sense of fulfillment and closure from this Full Moon moment. The trine to Saturn in the sign of partnership is amusing in this context: we may dig in our heels in a relationship that is just over, and that normally would be brought to an end with the energy offered by a Full Moon.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is ‘A Deserter from the Navy’–are we surprised? This is the abandonment of a cause by the most martial of water bearers–the individual who runs from something (in this day and age) to which he or she has quite willingly committed him- or herself. This suggests, in light of the Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto aspects, that the individual destructive and rebellious urges may win out, though with some caveats. Just because one runs away from the group doesn’t mean they are no longer a member–truly severing ties is quite different from the symbolic act, or the simply rebellious one. This may symbolize that ‘the ties that bind,’ which might normally end with this Full Moon, may drag on, with plenty of pointless rebellions, incidents of lashing out for freedom, and ‘pretend’ destructive or transformative episodes as a result.

The end of something may feel premature at this point; or, we just may not be done acting out, making our intellectual point to the other party or to the group. The energy is best handled with the understanding that the mentality is too active in the decision-making process to provide a truly accurate picture–and as long as we know that, we can accept that the rationalizing and reasoning that we may be inclined to will not get us to the heart of the matter. Understanding (Aquarius) that we are at a kind of midpoint, rather than a culmination, at least in energy terms, will help us embrace the positive portions of the Full Moon process (which strongly support mental accomplishment, original creative acts, and innovative activities) while minimizing the more dramatic, disaffected, or chaotic influences to our response.

Warning: the title is not a real Latin phrase–like in the old Roadrunner cartoons, I believe everything goes better with a sophisticated seeming taxonomic designation!

12 June 2010: the Gemini New Moon

11 Friday Jun 2010

astrology, Moon, Moon in Gemini, New Moon, Sabian Symbols, the Magazine

The New Moon occurs at 4:14 AM PDT June 12th at 21 Gemini 23. Using our strict two degree rule, the Sun/ Earth axis of the Gemini New Moon makes a couple of minor aspects–but as we know, these are telling of the meaning picture we can expect for the coming Lunar month. First let’s look at the Sabian symbol for this New Moon: ‘Dancing Couples in a Harvest Festival’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html Gemini is the place for a twosome, alright, but for twins, related pairs, and the image brings to mind dancing partners, mated pairs, which implies opposites–and that signals we should pay direct attention to both what the Sun/ Moon aspects and what this pair’s opposite, the Earth, touches by aspect (normally we would concentrate New Moon attention on the conjunction and its aspects only).

The aspects directly involved with the New Moon picture are these: the Sun/ Moon forms a Fist of God here in Seattle with the Midheaven and Pallas. Since the Midheaven differs at any one moment by location, we must take this as specific to the North/ South axis along which a number of high profile enterprises lie, and see it as the possibility of the inception of something very public that involves commerce or guidance in some form, or perhaps an adjustment involving these (the sesquiquadrates)–and if we take guidance to suggest something like a search engine, then perhaps we’re looking at an announcement involving Bing (Microsoft) or Google, the Mountain View, California location of which shares the same Midheaven aspect, or if we emphasize commerce we may see something from Amazon (Seattle) or PayPal, which again shares a MC aspect at its San Jose, California location–or this could involve the major food producing valleys of California, since Pallas is involved with food as a commodity (and Ceres is in her own configuration at this time–see discussion of this, along with a lot more, in ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-eclipse-spring-2010/).  All these are possibilities that could affect many or all of us in some way, but for all individuals, one leg of the configuration is defnitely in force: the sesquiquadrate of the Sun/ Moon to Pallas.

This Sun/ Moon/ Pallas contact suggests the need over the coming Lunar month to modify or otherwise adjust to what’s wise or, secondarily, what’s necessary to conduct ‘business,’ which in the end is just the exchange of one thing deemed worthy for another–and the New Moon nature implies this may be a ‘first time’ for this accomodation. The Sabian of couples dancing does suggest entities working together, and the fact that the dance (interaction) is at a harvest festival says that this is a celebration, of sorts, where parties enjoy reaping their rewards. So, perhaps this is the beginning of a personal harvest of some kind, one that requires some adjustment, possibly simply of one’s attitude or communications (Gemini Air) but that pays off, nonetheless.

We musn’t forget the Earth in our analysis; it shows a quincunx to Sedna (or ‘Sedan,’ as I keep typing it!). What is it about our material position that we just won’t be able to see? We can look to the Sabians again for assistance: ‘A Chinese Laundry’ Whew! What could that mean? And why a ‘Chinese Laundry’? Do they hold some kind of ancient Chinese secret? 🙂

No–at least, the Chinese haven’t, as a people, shared anything like this with me, but what this suggests is the kind of industrious and needed labor that those newly arrived to a place are prone to take up–and that implies that the new venture, occurence, or life direction we see with the New Moon may necessitate that we humbly supply what’s useful and needed–that we, figuratively or otherwise, be willing to ‘start at the bottom’ in order to succeed–and this may be the thing we don’t see, when examining the New Moon picture.

Aren’t you tired of me pushing my new magazine? I’m a little embarrassed, frankly, but I’ll say it again: if you enjoy what you find here at the blog, you’ll love ECLIPSE  Take it home for a pittance (a pittance that supports my work and is truly appreciated) and find in-depth articles (and sometimes topics) you’ll see nowhere else, as well as forecast information available only in the mag–Get it! http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-eclipse-spring-2010/

14 April 2010: New Moon in Aries

Galileo's Phases of the Moon 1616 {{PD}}

The 13th is prime Dark of the Moon–relax–we’re working up to the New Moon on April 14th at 5:28 AM PDT at 24 Aries 27. Sticking to our strict 2 degree rule in order to draw a precise picture of the influences of the New Moon, we are once again *sigh* left with nothing striking to work with (but frankly, in my opinion, that only signals a pure light from the Moon, with little else that might interfere). We can make a small exception, as a trine to Vesta at 21 Aries 51 draws attention and seems compelling, if only because a single aspect can make strong testimony in a sky that otherwise gives the meeting of Sun and Moon wide berth, leaving the energy as is.

The New Moon and Vesta trine each other, from Fire to Fire, and this suggests the gift of a spirited and determined energy that allows us to choose and to act (Aries) concerning those things that are most sacred to us, on the home life, and on all intimate communion (Vesta), and this done in a way that is most characteristic of the Soul (Leo). Since the New Moon is a time of beginnings, it follows that the energies we honor most should and will be put in motion at this time–choose according to the Will (Aries) and make choices that honor those things we wish to dedicate our lives to–it calls for nothing less than this.

The Sabian for the New Moon degree is ‘The Possibility for Man to Gain Experience at Two Levels of Being’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html There are other versions of this symbol, specifically ‘A Double Promise Reveals Its Inner and Outer Meanings’ but all speak of the duality of possibility that is presented with this New Moon energy, and this implies not just Self-generated choice, as noted with the Aries placement, but that the experiences initiated will contain multiple meanings, and that these will hold that sacred Vesta energy in the form of a covenant (the promise spoken of). The gift of the New Moon in Aries, then, is the gift of significance beyond the conscious choices of our Will, choices that will serve the sacred in ways we may not know at the time they’re made.

I wrote the body of this post, but had the strangest feeling–did I use the wrong Sabian, forget something, what? So I started to look around, and found this by Diane http://libraseekingbalance.com/archives/2646 that talks about double checking what you do. But I’ve got to admit, even after triple checking I feel like I’ve done something wrong. The only other thing I noticed in the chart may really be the heart of the feeling, though: the Part of Fortune for the New Moon chart is exactly semi-sextile the Sun-Moon conjunction, and this jogged something from a long-ago memory, a suggestion that the Part of Fortune in event charts in close aspect to something relevant signals meaning, a fatedness, something ‘special,’ somehow, to what will occur. Perhaps this adds weight to our New Moon choices, if we know they may ripple out into our future, and be even more important than we can imagine.

Finally! The promised quiz at ‘Been There, Done That’ http://askjulie.wordpress.com/2010/04/12/are-you-an-annie-or-a-jane-the-quiz/
