22 November—New Moon occurs at 4:32 AM Pacific Standard Time at 00 Sagittarius 07: ‘Everything Old is New Again’

The Sabian is, ‘Retired Army Veterans Gather To Reawaken Old Memories’. That, my friends, is a Re–Union. The implication is that we will see something resurrected, back together again, in imitation of a previous state or condition with the purpose of Re-Membering. This echoes the Saturn in Scorpio ‘setting’ for the New Moon, wherein reality contains layers of memory, mystery, nuance, truth, and many versions of ‘what is’ as seen through varied viewpoints and times—and the NM resurrects something specific to the re-uniting of those who experienced a past condition together. It’s perhaps past contacts brought together to celebrate that past, to re-live it, in a way—or to resurrect from memory something buried, forgotten, or ignored—which brings us back to Black Moon Lilith. ‘Everything old is New Again’ is an old saying (and song!) that may be what we’re humming come New Moon time.

Today’s image is the Egyptian god Osiris, a Scorpionic figure (a god of resurrection and the Underworld) reassembled by his sister/ wife Isis after his jealous brother (Set, for those keeping score) tore him to pieces. Isis put the pieces back together and wrapped them for burial; the one missing piece (the phallus) she fashioned herself so that he would be whole. She was then impregnated by the already-dead Osiris, with the result being she gave birth to their child, Horus. This image fits quite nicely with both the Sabian of the NM (a Reunion) and with NM’s contact to Saturn, still in Scorpio. The implication for we mortals may be that there’s still some seminal, creative ‘juice’ to be extracted from a real-life situation that by all rights should be (or at least appears to be) dead and lifeless. The New Moon may make it clear what this component, if handled correctly, can be used to create; all we have to do is ‘put the pieces together’.

13 November Today is the day when all is revealed—all in terms of our own power, influence, reach, and impact on others both personally and in the social sphere, at least. If we aren’t happy with our power situation we can make some smart moves to improve it; too, we’ll see the benefits of clearing out what’s outmoded or no longer precious to us, to make room for the new. Today’s image is a glacier, melting just a little in the bright sunshine. What in your life seems to be moving at, as they say, a glacial pace? Know that no matter how nonexistent change in this area seems to be, the situation is on its way to ‘becoming fluid’. Change may still be a long way off, but it is coming.

2 November our individual Will doesn’t mesh well with the dictates of the social circle, and attempts to acquire knowledge, branch out, expand horizons, or get more don’t go smoothly. It’s doubly frustrating because we see what we want, what we value, and know it’s available—apparently to everyone but us. The problem is we’re thinking too much along the lines of ambition fulfillment, and not enough about the needs and expectations of those around us. A little something for 26 October: Today’s image is a bird splashing in a puddle, even as it starts to rain. Is there some way in which we’re double dipping, in a way? Out of an abundance of caution or enthusiasm we can find ourselves over doing, in a simple attempt to make sure we get it done; we may not realize that, figuratively speaking, wet is wet–once we’re wet, we can’t get wetter! Mars moves into Capricorn today, helping us target action effectively–and hopefully eliminate any duplication of effort.

A little something for 27 October: we come to know the meaning of the old axiom, ‘Knowledge is power’; authority accrues to those who have access to facts and who understand how past development has lead to current conditions. Thinking, however, is decidedly independent of power concerns, and though this leads to a purity of mental expression and processing it also signifies, on the part of those who are mentally-keyed (natally heavy in Air), a susceptibility to follow an idea or place a concept on a pedestal that could have negative consequences for the personal empowerment situation. The saving grace, though, may actually be grace itself, an adherence to the ideal of Love in action that mitigates any potential negatives or losses. Ideals in Love or Money can be advanced and perhaps met; creativity, imagination, and integrity all pay. (Ceres enters Sagittarius, Venus trine Neptune, Mercury contra-parallel Juno)

And for 28 October: The Moon enters Capricorn at 3:04 AM PDT of the 28th. 5 AM PDT the Moon conjuncts Mars. Temper takes some very concrete avenues of expression, and upset may be taken out through material matters, if we don’t bother to hold back. With just a little effort, control of energy output can be both disciplined and productive. 10 AM PDT the Moon sits at the midpoint of Neptune-Pallas. Creative wisdom is channeled through the emotions and intuition; try to preserve what comes to you now, as it will be both inspired and smart. Noon the Moon sextiles Sun-Venus. We see illuminated either relationships or financial situations–and we understand them in a way that makes us sympathetic/ empathetic to their current state. 5 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes Juno. We can sense, rather than ‘see’, what we need to adjust in order to maintain or enhance our own power situation. Believe what occurs to you to do, as it’s the right thing for you, and is supported by sensitivity and instinct. 10 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Pluto and semi-sextiles Vesta. Instincts to get and maintain power are right on, and we may be challenged by a destructive tingle aimed at anything we feel uncomfortable about concerning the home, family, or those things to which we’re dedicated. Consider the way you can change the situation that’s irritating you, rather than eliminating it or some aspect of it.

For a variety of individuals, this eclipse, at 00 Scorpio, may fall on a natal body, and for large numbers of people, it may fall on slow-moving natal Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto. For eclipse contact by conjunction, use no more than a 3 degree orb no matter which natal body or point is involved. Of course, this links the eclipse ‘New Start’ to the planet’s expression, but also to the House(s) ruled by the planet in the natal chart; watch the matters of this/ these House(s) over the coming 6 months, through to the next eclipse set. The matters of these Houses are where that wise and valuable beginning offered by this eclipse is likely to make big effects felt. Considering this event falls in Scorpio, we may be looking for a new beginning that is something of a resurrection or re-birth, an echo of what was in a new form. In any case, a beneficial birth, no matter the outer trappings it arrives in.

Now through the 23rd: there’s a lot of passive-aggression going around of a very specific kind: many seem to feel the need to boast, brag, show their worth in whatever currency they value–this is going to last through the eclipse. Those conscious will focus on Love and raising the vibration (whatever that means to them), while the unconscious will give us an earful of how wonderful they are! or how smart, or how enlightened–and a good number of them will do it by couching things in what they see as ‘spiritual’ terms (or ‘important’ ones–again, in the form of their currency and what they value). My recommendation is to let them express unchallenged and without contradicting, because there’s an aggressive thrust behind things–these individuals will be willing to draw their swords in a heartbeat–and they won’t see you, they’ll see an attempt to wound their pride, disparage them, or to take away their goodies. Take the no-stress route and chill–and have a great day! (Sun-Venus at the rough midpoint of Black Moon Lilith-Mars, semi-sextile Ceres)

A little Lunar essence for today, the 15th:

4 PM PDT the Cancer Moon squares Mercury and trines Ceres. Thoughts and feelings are not in harmony, but as long as we are basing things on our connection to Nature, and/ or to our sense of personal authority, all will go well (but for how long, with the mentality dormant or confused and all sensory equipment down?) Don’t worry, we get a ‘new’ handle on things soon enough–’til then, coast. 11 PM PDT the Moon squares Pallas. Why are we so tempted to do something so dumb? Okay, I’ll be more Libra-diplomatic and say, ‘unwise’–but really, dumb–just don’t! Void begins at 12:39 AM of the 16th Pacific time; the Moon enters Leo at 3:30 AM PDT.

And for the 16th:

16 October why does it feel as if what’s smart will hurt if implemented? We’re deluded about what needs to be protected, and our instincts place us in conflict with what we value and what we want. Our thoughts are confused and we may act before we think (or plan)—today’s really the day for dealing with up front issues in such a way that we map out future action, rather than making a move in the present. We have a brief but clear planning window, which relies on our willingness to lay everything out while agreeing not to do anything for now. Special note to artists: creativity may take us down a weird path, and inspiration fails to respect actions we’ve already taken. Be willing to record ideas but forego action on inspiration received at this time—chances are high that the products of creative actions taken now will just have to be scrapped later. I think of the two weeks between eclipses as a kind of valley; we can’t see clearly over the mountain behind us, to where we’ve just been, and we can’t see what’s over the mountain ahead of us, either. In the human animal this builds tension, as we fear being trapped in this situation indefinitely; anything could surprise us, and we are very aware of that! In traversing the current valley between the eclipses, we scan the horizon for aid and opportunity (Sun sextile Jupiter) and we look intently for what we should do, how we should act (Sun sextile Mars), and we do all of it with our fate, the direction we’re traveling in life (Sun conjunct North Node), front and center in our (confused–Merc retro) thoughts.

There is nothing unusual in this tension between eclipses; it’s one of the reasons we anticipate their arrival with such dread. We know in our bones, remember in our nerve endings and muscles and psyche, how very stressful the last round was. And yet, there isn’t much we can do about this feeling. In the current situation we’ve just been through an ending, or had the inevitable ending of something signaled loud and clear (the Lunar eclipse of the 8th), and even if we knew this was coming, it was hard; we likely had to admit something about ourselves and what we want (Aries placement) that we had been avoiding up ’til now. This was an area (signified by the House where the eclipse fell) that we may have been controlling, trying to control, or telling ourselves we were controlling–and suddenly we must face that our Will controls absolutely nothing outside our own skin (and not even all inside of that!)

The new start we get on the 23rd (the Solar eclipse) can be summed up as offering a beginning that is ‘wise and valuable’–and that’s so whether we see it as such or not! That doesn’t make our anticipation any less tense, though; it’s like the stress of bringing home a new baby, getting engaged, winning the lottery. In spite of the fact that it’s one of the best things that can happen to us, we still experience a great deal of upset, pressure, unforeseen effects, and our responsibility–our need to respond–is tested and stretched and drains us of energy and initiative right at the point when we need it most. Knowing that something like this is coming can grate on us terribly–but knowing that’s the case, and knowing there’s nothing to be done about it, should free us. We can safely ignore much of what’s troubling us now–whatever needs facing will come to us, with the eclipse in Scorpio, representing a raw kind of truth at 00 of the sign–and it will open the way to a new beginning–and most of us would really welcome one of those right about now.

A few bits in this post-eclipse season:

9 October: Merc retro is pulling things we’d rather leave in the past into the present and messing with our feelings of empowerment and effectiveness. Why? As Merc moves backward it pulls things with it like water exiting a drain—and anything left lying around unattended from the past is prime for Mercury to suck, dredge, and serve up. What we see, though, if we look past the sodden mess of Mercury in retreat is our shining ambitions and desires, the pinnacle of what we hope for, high upon the hill; all we need do to reach them is adjust our values and home and mate interactions, just so, allowing us to make both what we have and what we want harmonize. Sweet. (Perfecting today: Juno square Mercury and parallel the South Node, Sun conjunct and parallel Zeus, Earth sesquiquadrate Vesta). Lunar Note: 11 PM PDT the Taurus Moon trines Pluto. You have the power to shape the material world at this point–use it wisely.

10 October: Relationships and finances are calling for adjustment—without the flexibility to accommodate changing situations, we may find ourselves looking at severely outdated interactions sitting in for real relationships, and severely reduced financial circumstances substituting for dynamic earning and attracting. We have the chance to engineer bounty—do it! Take opportunities, respond to circumstances as they are, not as you wish they were, and listen—others are there to help, whether it’s with advice or by example, whether they’ll be showing you how to do ‘it’, or warning you off by their own poor choices. Of course, there’s an eclipse in just a couple of hours, but you can read about that lots of places (and if you’re interested in my take, you can subscribe and get it all), so I thought I’d share a bit of commentary on the aspects perfecting today that are unrelated to the Lunar eclipse (Full Moon) that begins at 3:51 AM Pacific of the 8th at 15 Aries 05. My discussion of an event like an eclipse keeps to some tight orbs in order to focus the eclipse picture itself, apart from any other influences in force; that way we can sort eclipse effects from others much more easily than if we throw it all in one basket–and yet, since it all occurs within the same time frame, we can’t ignore that there’s more to the day of an eclipse than just the event itself.

8 October is when I’d like to remind everyone that just because there’s a major aspect in the heavens, it doesn’t mean this will show up in the life; interaction of transiting energies with natal factors is far more important than any transiting to transiting aspect. That said, we’ve got two general whammies here, with the action urge, ego, ‘I Am’ in harmony with the social sphere and/ or gathering in knowledge like a sponge, and possibly successfully expanding the individual reach impressively. At the same time we see relationships hit some dark, destructive, below-the-waterline rocks and we wonder how we never noticed those before. Both influences may knock us off course—or onto the right one, should we have been substituting artificial goals for our natural ones. We may need to withdraw or pull back in order to re-group, but this is both temporary and allows us the space we need to sort exaggeration from useful information.
