‘Dushan Tappe’ by Kamal-ol-molk 1899 {{PD-Art}}

19 August What’s ideal may not hold the value we believe it does, relationships may present a skewed picture unrelated to their reality, money is illusive or deceptive in some sense, actions are carried out blindly, and our belief system challenges our independence and our ability to innovate, as well as challenging us to accept new ideas or knowledge. It’s a tough day, but only if we’re paying attention, and if we are, it can be a highly rewarding one, if we’re willing to squarely face what’s coming at us and see it without filters. That’s a lot of ‘ifs’ but could bring us significant fortune, knowledge, or love under the ‘right’ circumstances and should we employ the ‘right’ responses. (Mars sextile Sedna, Venus quincunx Neptune, Sun sesquiquadrate Uranus, Earth sesquiquadrate Jupiter)

‘Demeter/ Ceres Mourning Persephone/ Proserpina’ Evelyn de Morgan 1906 {{PD}}

17 August the Sun conjuncts Ceres. This is a spotlight trained on our relationship with nature, with our children or those we hold dominion over (as in the role of boss, for instance, or in more subtle ways, such as when we are a customer and a server is dependent on us for their tip, though just as easily we are dependent on the server), and gives us a clear sense not only of what power we naturally hold, but of the power we might hold in future, as well. This also puts issues of diet, particularly of those items that affect us badly, in focus–and if you happen to be in an agriculture, child-care, or nutrition-related business, this is the time to do a thorough inventory and re-assess needs and plans in light of the current situation. An enlightening day, in many ways–keep your eyes (and your senses!) open.

7 AM PDT of the 16th the Sagittarius Moon forms the apex to a Finger of God with base of Mars-Sedna. This suggests that if our actions and choices are based on truly intimate knowledge and understanding of ourselves, emotional fulfillment will follow. Sounds simple enough. 9 AM PDT the Moon trines Sun-Ceres, offering us a direct line through either the emotions or the intuition to our most powerful personal identity stance–embrace it! Also a good point at which to judge the effects of diet on health. Void begins at 9:59 AM PDT; the Moon enters Capricorn at 8:26 PM Pacific time. Immediately the Moon squares Venus, fresh in Libra. The emotions are challenged in relationship or in dealing with something in life we treasure; try to determine the issue’s worth to you before making a move.

See it all with ECLIPSE!

The Total AstroEssence 15 August 2013: ‘Contrasts’

What follows is the aspect and Lunar hour-by-hour forecasts for 15 August from ECLIPSE; subscribers to the Weekly got this last Thursday, while Daily Word subscribers got it, plus the Daily Word Image, in their email morning of the 14th Pacific time. Subscribe now and get this for every day, plus lock in the current rate!

15 August we may do a lot of weighing and measuring today, as the natural world faces off with the inner one, wisdom faces ambition and desire, the Underworld meets the Upper one (and this will have a personal form, wherein your darkness or hidden nature contacts your daily environment) and words make or break relationships, and could earn for us or cost us. Noting the contrasts among things as we sort through our day is what will give events and encounters meaning and texture; neither side of any equation holds a superior position, and keeping this in mind will make us both more thoughtful of the experience and more likely to make decisions that are true to who we are, rather than influenced by conditioning. (Ceres square Sedna and sesquiquadrate Pluto, Pallas square Zeus, Mercury semi-square Venus)

1 AM PDT of the 15th the Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune. We can be mislead, if we’re not entirely willing to see ‘what is’. 9:30 AM PDT the Moon sextiles Juno. Listen to the emotions at this point; they will lead us to empowerment. Noon the Moon makes the apex to a Finger of God with base of South Node and Jupiter. Expanding our ideas about the past, and perhaps learning something of history, personal or otherwise, leads to a sureness emotionally, and an intuitive knowing. 2 PM PDT the Moon trines Uranus and squares Chiron. We could cause hurt by our insistence on separateness, or by rebelling. Such reactions serve no purpose–don’t indulge. 4 PM PDT the Moon trines Mercury, sextiles Zeus, and quincunxes Pallas. If we want our plans to be a success, we must be willing to adjust or modify, according to what’s smart, and to match skills to what’s needed.

The image for today is the hand receiver on an old landline phone. This speaks to me of the South Node, and evokes not an old message, but an old means of delivering the message. Watch today for a familiar form of communication; think about what you came to see that as signifying in the past, and ask yourself how that particular means of sharing information affects the message now, with the idea in mind that the form itself carries its own meaning, apart from the overt message conveyed.

Have a great Thursday! New issue of ECLIPSE comes out tonight!

Your Weekend Forecast from ECLIPSE 9-11 August 2013: ‘For Daydreamers’

‘A Fairy Under Starry Skies’ Luis Ricardo Falero c1875 {{PD-Art}}

For the 9th, from ECLIPSE:

1 PM PDT the Virgo Moon conjuncts Venus. A great time for socializing, but watch for emotional spending and being too critical in relationships (Virgo placement). 7 PM PDT the Moon trines Sedna, either effectively separating us from awareness of our own feelings or plunging us so deeply into them that looking out at the world will be like looking at daylight from the bottom of a well. Being too critical of ourselves and our choices is the danger at this time. Know that taking a harsh inventory won’t really reveal anything new, and will certainly depress both mood and motivation. Void begins at 7:29 PM PDT; the Moon enters Libra at 6:08 AM Pacific time August 10th.

10 August Willingness to Adjust is the name of the game today; the social circle must adjust to our empowerment efforts, and we to theirs, and communication is, off the bat, confusing, fanciful, misleading, creative, or deliberately deceptive–possibly in an attempt to ‘soften the blow’ or to gently lead us (and our energy) in another direction. With the Moon entering Libra, the impulse may be to partner-up, but it’s a day to work alone, or at least be willing to cut others a lot of slack in the communication arena, and avoid any important talks or making agreements at this time–they’ll almost certainly contain something unintended, or have hidden consequences. A good day for fiction writers, artists, and daydreamers. (Jupiter quincunx Juno, Mercury quincunx Neptune)

11 August is a day when healing is offered, relationships are tested, what’s wise must defend itself, and communications are curtailed, contained within formal boundaries, or unduly harsh–so don’t take the form messages and information arrive in to heart, but instead hear the message behind the words or deeds. 3 AM PDT the Moon is apex to a Finger of God with base of South Node-Chiron, and the Moon also forms a T-square by opposing Uranus and squaring Pallas. This may be a BIG moment of truth, as we are challenged to show that we are emotionally healed from past injury–and as well we are dared to rebel against what’s wise, and ruin it all. A testing point that can be a milestone, if we handle it correctly.

This is just a small sampling from the current issue of ECLIPSE forecast section; subscribe now to lock in a low low rate for as long as you subscribe (prices go up 1 October), with your choice of Weekly or Daily service–or both! And have an excellent weekend, everyone!

'Phosphorus and Hesperus' Evelyn Pickering de Morgan 1882 {{PD-Art}}

‘Phosphorus and Hesperus’ Evelyn Pickering de Morgan 1882 {{PD-Art}}

Venus as the Evening Star will brighten considerably between now and December, when she reaches maximum brilliancy at magnitude -4.9 (the lower the number, the brighter the object, with negative numbers the brightest). She’s designated the Evening Star right now (though at other times she’s the Morning Star) and is most visible just after sunset. The ancient Greeks actually saw her as two separate bodies, Phosphoros (‘Bringer of Light’) or Eosphorus (‘Bringer of Dawn’) and Hesperos (‘Evening Light’), until they eventually accepted the Babylonian assertion that what they were observing was really only one body, appearing different depending on her relationship to the Sun. Saturn, too, is visible at present, near the long handle of the Big Dipper and near Spica; Saturn can be distinguished by its golden hue, while Spica shines blue-white, like a good diamond. While Venus and Saturn can be seen evenings all through August, the morning sky shows, pre-sunrise, Mars, Jupiter, and Mercury (the latter for the first week or two of August, depending on your spot on Earth). Happy planet spotting!

We have our yearly show of the Perseids this month, peaking on the 11th, 12th, and 13th. This meteor ‘shower’ is really the debris from comet Swift-Tuttle, lighting up as it burns through the atmosphere; we (Earth) actually pass through the comet’s trail, making for a collision between our atmosphere and debris shed by this extraordinarily large comet (its nucleus is about 16 miles/ 26 kilometers across, where most others are only a few kilometers). Visibility actually began this year around 17 July, so if you’ve been out and about at night you may have observed a ‘shooting star’ or two that were probably part of this group, and the Perseids are known for the high number of ‘fireballs’ seen; the Perseids remain visible (but are seen with less frequency) through 24 August.

The New Moon in Leo 6 August 2013 at 2:50 PM Pacific time at 14 Leo 34: ‘Committing to Ourselves’

The Sabian for the NM is ‘A Pageant, With Its Spectacular Floats, Moves Along A Street Crowded With Cheering People’ This symbol depicts the spectacle of the Soul as it moves through life–the floats are our creations, our actions, the street our Path, the cheering crowd the Universe, the Souls who surround us, and those unseen who support us. It may seem like a silly and exclusive kind of symbol–how can every single person be their own parade?–but each person can, each person is worthy of such display, celebration, and support. Don’t deny this to yourself out of a false sense of modesty, or a fear of disapproval, but also don’t be so caught up in your own pageant that you deny support to others–nobody puts on a parade alone.

And here’s another view by the excellent Jude Cowell

Dolphin Fresco at Knossos {{PD}}

Dolphin Fresco at Knossos {{PD}}

2 August tempts us: we find our highest values in direct conflict with our empowerment options, we are being encouraged to ‘be ourselves’, to an almost outrageous degree, as well as to be thoroughly independent to the point of rebellion, to be overly sensitive, looking for ‘hurt’,  and we immerse ourselves in the man/ woman, yin/ yang play of energies splashing like happy dolphins. This is an atmosphere that could create just the right amount of stress + a dizzying kind of confidence, and, dopey as teenagers in love, we could be so high on that man/ woman spark (no matter our preferences) that we make some petty and Self-sabotaging moves, especially in relationships. We may glamorize the past in matters of Love and Money; our best bet to re-orient ourselves is to refresh consciously the highest values, what we find sacred, and our connection to home and mate–these are what matter, these are what last. (Vesta opposed Juno, Uranus trine Vesta, Venus sextile Mars)

Just a Little AstroEssence 30 July 2013: ‘An Objective View’

'View of the Theseion with the Acropolis in the Distance' A remarkable photo by Moraites Petros 1870 {{PD}}

‘View of the Theseion with the Acropolis in the Distance’ A remarkable photo by Moraites Petros 1870 {{PD}}

This is the aspect portion of the July 30th forecast in ECLIPSE; this is also part of what is included in the Daily Word, a one day ahead subscription service that sends the aspect and detailed, hour-by-hour Lunar forecast, plus the Daily Word Image, found nowhere else, directly to your email–subscribe today!

30 July  empowerment seems impossible to achieve with current life direction, restrictions that seem wise also make the option seem dull, beauty and reward require destruction or radical change in order to come about, and the social circle asks us to adjust our material orientation to what they want, not what we do. The contrariness of energies today may bring many of us to a standstill; those who can pull back a bit and take an objective view can, however, make significant personal progress–I say personal because the goals must mean something to us, which is what makes our objectivity meaningful–and it is in this ability to simultaneously hold two conscious points of view at one time that you’ll find the answers to today’s frustrating energy mix. Hint: committing to solid decisions, building things, and creating in your reality all directly and seriously affect the life path at this time–so be aware of this as you make choices. (Juno square the Nodes, Saturn trine Pallas, Venus trine Pluto, Earth quincunx Jupiter)

Grand Sextile, The Daily Word image

'Fish House Door' John Peto 1905 {{PD-Art}}

‘Fish House Door’ John Peto 1905 {{PD-Art}}

Thought I’d share the word image for the day; these are now a part of the Daily Word service, which delivers the forecast, plus these word-pictures which act as touchstones and synchronicity markers, one day ahead to your email.

The image for today is a chemistry set; if you understand that many things when combined are explosive, many corrosive, and that still others combine to make a third entity with entirely new properties, then you have the essence of what can happen with the Grand Sextile–mix elements with attention, care, and at least some fore knowledge of what they might create. There is also what I might call a competing image (two came to me at once) that may fit some of you better than the chemistry set: a box–it is small, shallow, and you’ll notice it continues the theme of containers that the previous two day’s symbols established. This suggests we may be trying to contain things that needn’t be contained (the shallowness of the box, its unsuitability to hold much at all). Let go of too tight a hold on detail, or on too-specific restrictions–they’re not needed.
