24 January 2011: Heed the Whisper

Odin's last words to Baldr W.G. Collingwood 1908 {{PD}}

By 2 AM Pacific a trine of the Libra Moon to Mars, and a square to Pluto, bring an interesting energy combo forward: we are rarin’ to go in partnership and/ or artistic matters, but something destructive rears its ugly head. We may call it change or transformation, but in this case it really is destructive, a vein of energy seeking to undermine what seems like a really good partnership action. There’s something instructive to this, and we’d be smart to realize that when we aren’t hearing the important messages, the subconscious steps in and orchestrates a mini-crisis or problem, to put us back on track–and that’s, in essence, what this is.

In the 8 PM hour Pacific the Moon conjuncts Saturn and then by 10 sextiles Venus. This can have one of two results: either the emotions and intuition are suppressed in the extreme, with a follow-up two hours later that suprises us with our awareness of what’s important (it seemed we weren’t feeling and thinking about any of our Venus concerns, and then there they were!) or, the emos and intuitions are rock-solid, either materializing right in front of us or spurring us to try to make secure our emotional picture. This can lead, by the 10 PM sextile, to either a payoff in love, satisfaction, or even money, OR (and please note, that’s a big one!) may cause us to try to compensate mightily in order to feel loved–and we all know the mega-list of dangers that can comprise, starting with downing way too much ice cream :)

Alert! Mars is on his way to meet up with Ceres (due on the 26th). This can be clash of the Titans, pro-active assertion in concert with Mother Nature, taking a whack at Mom, or could make the crispy-hard and yet somehow flaccid sound of two tremendous egos smacking together! Just be aware that this combo is in the air–and duck and cover if necessary.

23 January 2011: Don’t Let It Be Regret

'The Blizzard' Cornelius Krieghoff c.1860 {{PD-Art}}

Just after 1 AM PST the Moon trines Sedna, making it easy to lose touch with our emotions. The atmosphere stays a little nebulous (and so do our feelings) until around 11 AM PST, when the Moon opposes Uranus, quincunxes Neptune, and squares Vesta; this teams up with Jupiter newly arrived at the Aries Point and brings a striking (and perhaps upsetting) amount of individualism and Self-interest forward, and much of it will masquerade as concern for the group or a willingness to ‘volunteer.’ It’s almost certain that what we are envisioning and idealizing at this point is not truly reflective of those things we find either important or sacred in the life, and we would do best to realize we are revved up without having first sorted out some clear and rational goals–the energy is overwhelming (or at least very stimulating!)–and there’s no real planning for what comes forward–it’s that kind of sketchy itch!

The Void is minute (My-Newt): starts at 3:24 PM PST and ends with the Moon’s entry into Libra at 3:59 PM–okay, minute was an exaggeration–but that’s exactly what we face as the Moon opposes Jupiter at the Aries Point. It’s likely our first big jolt concerning Jupiter’s new role in the Cosmos and in our personal world. I think our Jupiter energies will take a saucy, Self-absorbed turn in a very public arena of our choosing–and this suggests to me that it’s most important to keep the energies in check, at least initially–don’t let ‘regret’ become the word that expresses our Jupiter through Aries in 2011.

Note too that today Pallas and Mercury are closely conjunct–’think smart’ comes naturally to those who are serious-minded, Self-disciplined, and willing to follow the rules (Capricorn placement).

And just a note to those kind individuals who have friended me on Facebook but to whom I’ve not responded: if I’m not acquainted with you well enough to recognize your name, it’s unlikely I will accept. I don’t mean to offend anyone, I simply don’t know you at all (and if I do, but under a screen name, please let me know), and that makes me hesitant. I’m sure you understand, and I do thank you and appreciate the gesture. You can always friend the astrology page, ‘Julie Demboski’s Astrology’ Thanks~

22 January 2011: Too Easy to Speak, Too Easy to Lose Our Cool

Jacob wrestling with the Angel Leloir 1865 {{PD}}

Just before 9 AM PST the Moon trines Mercury in Earth–do we really need to open our mouths about material matters, ours and everyone else’s? No, we needn’t–but we just might, before we know it. Caution is in order, only because we may have a tendency to promise more than we can deliver at this point.

Things stay cool ’til right before 5 PM PST when the Virgo Moon squares Venus in Sagittarius–if we are feeling petulant, it will show. Somehow nothing seems to satisfy–for those on the commute at this time, take care–it seems like a point where tempers may flair for almost no reason at all. Whatever aggravating circumstances we see outside ourselves, it’s fitting to remind that this is really the state inside us–and so not to react strongly when others forget this fine point.

21 January 2011: The Aquarian Moon Gives Us the Finger

I've always heard it's not polite to point. Antonio Belluci c.1700 {{PD}}

By 9 AM PST the Moon is trine Vesta, making the emotions a reliable conduit for the most sacred values–if it feels right, it is right–the only exception is the person who’s disconnected from her or his own emotional palette, who thinks they feel, or who has mis-identified one emotion as another (and this latter is something we take for granted, that everyone identifies emotions the same way and as the same thing-and they don’t!!) If you’re mis-aligned with your emotional nature and you follow emotional prompts at this time, it will have unforseen, probably negative, consequences–just sayin’!

Right as the Moon enters Virgo (3:10 PM PST) it quincunxes Jupiter new and fresh and saucy at 00, and this creates a Finger of God with the upcoming quincunx of the Moon to the Sun at 5:30 PM Pacific, requiring us to adjust the emotional picture to the object of everyone else’s attention. We may feel we have more important things to attend to (and we may be right!) but the group requires we focus on matters either Aquarian or related to the House where the Sun is currently transiting in the natal chart, and that the lens be emotion or intuition, so that our acceptance of the social demand feels a bit false. In this instance, it’s best to go along to get along–and we may gain useful ‘camouflage’ of some kind because of our co-operative nature :)

New Year, New Newsletter, New Post

As ECLIPSE Readers know, I’ve been looking to fine-tune what I’m delivering in the publication to better suit both my readers and myself; to that end I’ve decided to make the quarterly journal into a newsletter, delivered directly to email, between one and three times per month (with possible updates in between). This allows me to deliver much more material in a shorter format–you get more material, I get to experiment with more variety, and worry less about time-consuming formatting and the chance that larger files could be rejected by some recipient’s email servers. Material will still be in-depth, but in shorter pieces, and more of them than were fitting into the magazine, so that over the three month time period that an issue used to cover, you’ll receive a lot more.

Will it cost more? Yes–you’ll be getting more for your money. I know I may lose some readers because of this (I may lose a lot of readers because of this!) I once heard someone say, in relation to the cost of their own services, “Not everyone is supposed to be able to afford everything,” and something like that may apply here; it’s a matter of priorities, of what something is worth to you, and I won’t be one bit offended if readers decide this method isn’t for them. We all have to make decisions that serve our best interests, myself included, and, particularly when I consider the time I invest (after all, you come here because of my years of study, because of what I can offer you), and review the cost of other amenities in Western society (roughly the equivalent of a first-run movie ticket, popcorn, and a drink for a 3 month subscription=$15) I feel the price is reasonable. For those who don’t want to subscribe, there will still be abbreviated daily (or covering several days) posts here, where I’ll try to convey the essential, need-to-know data, and short articles and commentary at ‘Been There, Done That.’

The Newsletter (still called ECLIPSE) will be illustrated just as the magazine was, and deliver a letter from me (let’s call it a communique, that’s so ’70s radical!) articles, shorts, and by-the-week forecasts, as well as New and Full Moon reports; there will still be a Protected Page here at the blog for the detailed Daily Moon picture. Your subscription will start from the day you enroll, and last three months out (for instance, 3 Feb as the sign up date takes your subscription through 3 May). The first issue features articles on Amor and Sappho, Solar Arc for beginners, a three-week ‘look ahead,’and a review of the amazing astrological imagery of Darren Aronofsky’s film ‘Black Swan’ I hope you’ll join me for the journey!

PS There’s no link up yet to order; I’ll let you know right here as soon as there is! Thanks!

And there’s a new post at ‘Been There, Done That’ on the entry of the Sun, Mars, and Ceres into Aquarius.

Thank you!

20 January 2011: Feelin’ Pretty! *wink*

Do you think they're feelin' pretty? 'Cause I think they dare you to say they aren't! Artist unknown 19th century {{PD}}

Sun entered Aquarius 2:18 AM PST today, the 20th–the relief may be palpable for those who feel they’ve been under the gun, made to work entirely too much–but for those who are sensitive to mental burdens, this may just add a dimension to the feeling of being overburdened! Smart money is put on letting up on rules and regulations, and easing up on expectations; Aquarius has some energetic emphasis in store (when the Sun catches up with Mars, 3 Feb, it peaks, but will be felt as soon as the 28th of January, as Mars catches up to Ceres and the Sun hovers near–this period should bring strong isuues with authorities, Self-motivation, ego, initiative, and natural talents and tendencies–it will all be lit up) but for now, just enjoy the change in vibe!

Now we enter a flurry of quick aspects: 10 AM Pacific the Moon is quincunx Pallas, challenging us to adjust our emotional response to what we know to be wise; by noon PST the Moon is trine Venus in Fire–oh, it’s a splendid moment! if we’re prepared to shine, to show our best–those for whom this aspects the natal picture positively will feel pretty (just like the song!) There’s a chance to win friends, find mates, make money–go for it :) This is followed at 1 PM by the Moon’s sextile to h. Zeus, giving the ambitions a boost, and by 6 PM we get the payoff to the charm assault we launched earlier (or just to the way we moved through the world!) Just remember that ‘payoff’ means results, not necessarily positive.

Cancer Full Moon January 2011: Power Lineage, Power Elite

A card deck from the French Revolution, with Kings replaced with thinkers from the past, Queens replaced with ideals

The Full Moon for January occurs at 1:21 PM PST on the 19th at 29 Cancer 27. My sense of this is that it’s almost more important than the New Moon eclipse was, as it promises, simply by its degree and aspect type, a culmination that is at a crisis stage. We have the tension of both the Sun/ Earth axis and the Moon–these are vital energies that are all in crisis at once–identity, Soul, and life-blood, material/ physical as well as our connection to the body, to sustenance and the shaping of our surroundings, and the emotional/ intuitive, with its facility for sensing, feeling, knowing, without words, images, or other cues. It says, in short, that the senses of the world will be one big open, well not wound, perhaps sense organ, would be a better designator, though exaggerated nerve would also do, considering that the Full Moon’s trine to Jupiter is within two minutes, and the trine to Jupiter’s long-time companion, Uranus, is within the two degree orb. This happens in the element of Water, making it even more feeling and sense-oriented than we might be able to imagine–it’s more like a dream, reflected by the quincunx the Full Moon makes to Neptune and his long-time companion, Chiron–and that takes the dream not just to an emotional level, but to a primitive one, where the primal Chirotic urge is stirred and the imagination, and the connection to the Cosmic and to the Collective, take it from there.

Juno is also involved, in sextile to the Moon, making it all hooked to empowerment, and giving that empowerment need a life-or-death feel, making it a demand. So what we have is likely an overwhelming emotional atmosphere that may make us feel frightened, wounded, lost, isolated (or conversely, lost in the vastness of the Cosmos or the Collective identity), fed to us through the mucous membranes, the nerves, though hallucinogens, alcohol, drugs, through dream or dream-like states, through illusion or fantasy, through the group experience, and all overlaid with the sense that this is an emergency, that we must feel effective.

The Sabian for the Earth/ Moon conjunction is ‘A Daughter of the American Revolution’  and the symbol for the Sun ‘A Secret Meeting of Men Responsible for Executive Decisions in World Affairs’ How does this translate for the individual?

Since we are all at the mercy of decisions made by those who hold the power, and anytime we don’t agree we are cast (besmirched) as some form of revolutionary (read: threat to the existing power structure, if only through our disapproval) then we may experience our own version of feeling (remember, this is a Full Moon at 29 degrees) brace yourself, inside the power structure. Even though we might logically think this would bring an experience of alienation and isolation (and undoubtedly for some, this will be the experience as they project a sense of elitism onto the world that surrounds them) it in fact will pinpoint our own revolutionary lineage–we find our place in the power elite, as the descendant of privilege–we find where we are in charge of the world, from whence we gain our power, we find our global power ‘clan’–and unexpected, emotion-charged, and sensation-filled will be our Full Moon experience.

ECLIPSE Readers, see the complete forecast explanation under ‘Pages’ at right–Water water everywhere (and some places, ice!) stay safe, and have a wonderful Full Moon!

18 January 2011: Bad Judgment on One End, Loneliness on the Other

Maybe a little time in a psychedelic garden with a couple of chickens is just the thing Klimt 1917 {{PD}}

By 6:30 AM of the 18th the Moon opposes Pallas and quincunxes Venus, setting us up to try to fulfill desires while avoiding taking the wise course! Sounds Self-defeating, doesn’t it? And it is–try to avoid this trap of indulging an adolescent world-view.

The Moon’s sextile to Sedna around midnight PST ushers in a lonely feeling–we may get inexplicably melancholy at this time. Insomniacs may have it particularly hard, as no novel, snack, late-night talk show, favorite movie, or midnight walk will take our minds off a strange emptiness. Just know it will pass shortly; the one positive this may bring out is that it moves a lot of detritus aside and lets us see exactly what issues and fears may underlie our everyday thinking. These are things normally disguised, repressed, or gussied up as something else, so appreciate the opportunity to see below the surface.

For more detail on the day, you might want to become an ECLIPSE reader, with access to the Password Protected Pages at right–but you should probably wait, the new issue (with password privileges) comes out 1 February (or sooner, if I get my act together!) I’m switching to a newsletter subscription format, sent to email 1-3 (or possibly more, depending on what’s going on) times a month, featuring current astro influences, articles, commentary on news and current events, with daily Moon forecasts still here at the blog, with abbreviated forecasts here on the home page. Next up, January Full Moon forecast!

17 January 2011: Wrestling with Feeling, Listening with Care

Tags

I guess Venus drove Cupid over to get his arrows touched up 'Venus Visiting Vulcan's Forge' Teniers the Elder 1638 {{PD}}

Mercury and Pluto are conjunct; words have power, they carry the strength to transform, to change, and, naturally, to destroy. Speak with extreme care, and listen with the same–people may reveal far more than they mean to, particularly along the lines of what they deeply need and want–and you might, too.

Moon opposes Merc/ Pluto 8:30 PM Pacific. We may have an instance of emotional revelation related to the transforming words given and received–and this means we might be deeply touched, changed, transformed, by the feelings that come forward–and these can fuel some of those life direction changes of Merc/ Pluto. It’s a chance at the very least to explore how we feel about what’s been communicated to us–and knowledge is always a good thing :) This is also when the Moon quincunxes Mars; undoubtedly we will want to act on what we find out, what we feel. Think carefully before you commit to action–it’s the revelation that’s important, now. There’s also a simultaneous quincunx to Ceres that means authority and/ or nature figures in to the message we’re receiving and the thoughts we’re having–we could get totally sidetracked with an ego struggle against those we feel are in charge. This is really unnecessary; meaningful response rests with our feelings, and what we can conclude from these.

Venus is sesquiquadrate Earth, making relationships and finances tie too closely to the material for comfort. We may become much too aware of what part money plays in relationships, how values are limiting or expanding our personal reach, and how love could alter our physical situation. Try to retain a sense of balance, rather than letting these facets loom too large.

16 January 2011: Mystic Rectangle, Finger of God

Tags

, ,

Let's hope where the Finger points will be this obvious-a beautiful work by Mola Ram c.1800 {{PD}}

Remember that both the Mystic Rectangle (mentioned in a previous post) and the Finger of God with Chiron/ Neptune apex and arms of Juno and Earth, are in force. This is a lot of power and energy that we should try to utilize consciously (yes, call me Capt. Obvious!) The Rectangle is described in a previous post; the Finger asks us to empower ourselves materially and then use that to express unique skills and ideals. You can make dreams happen right now, if they’re Soul deep, a part of your destiny–if not, they just won’t spark.
