Saturday the 18th we become horribly willful about our ambitions and desires, and those things we admire, love, or value suddenly seem to warrant criticism. Why? It could be that our minds are in rebellious mode; we’re resisting every group expectation and progressive call out of sheer pique–but we may also be dealing with our own deep need for freedom–and we may not see any other way of feeling our independence except by pushing away others or by refusing to conform–even when that’s what we want. Instincts, driven by matters we’ve ignored or denied, may drive us in the wrong direction, and both messages we receive and our own thoughts are erratic–we’re only getting part of the story at any one time. Take it easy, avoid knee-jerk reactions, and try not to be too aggressive with others–if we can’t divine our own best actions, we certainly can’t divine theirs!

Sunday the 19th we enjoy healing communications and a sense of empowerment brought forward by exercising our values, and by interaction in relationships or by earning. Material matters are serious, may bring about great and irrevocable change, and may not seem to be as intense or life-changing as they really are. Tread with care.

See services here and books here–and have a great weekend!

‘Le Moulin de la Galette’, by Vincent van Gogh, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes

8 July we suddenly feel that everyone is a lot more caring–at least, that’s what they say, what they communicate–but our attention is likely on our own ambitions and wants, and how what we’re doing in the everyday is in conflict with achieving our goals. Actions should be based on ideals, and as long as we keep the ego out of it, we can’t be led astray or deceived–but be too Willful or aggressive, and you might find yourself tilting at windmills, Quixote-style.

Take note of the Earth-Pluto, still conjunct, and the way the Sun-Earth-Pluto forms a T-square with Zeus=at this point we may get a glimpse ahead to serious material change on the horizon, with our ambition and desire picture as the tipping factor; our desires propel the shift, which is likely generated through conflict, the need to resolve tension, or a breaking away from current direction in order to make a big, dramatic push toward getting what we want.

9 July temper, irritation, and the need to choose (probably over something we’ve been torn about for some time) come forward from our ‘blind spot’ and challenge our equilibrium. Instincts can inform the direction we take, but our usual weaknesses are still in place; that means that to succeed we’ll need to recognize that we’re not infallible, and then ask for help to fill in our own skill or knowledge gap. That’s the best bet for putting ourselves in a good position, from which we can then act in the most effective way possible.

10 July action and successful Self-assertion flow from wisdom and skills, and if we can communicate our own empowerment position, we can deal with any upset concerning current life direction (we should anticipate either criticism over our independence or leadership, and/ or a lack of cooperation from others). Determine your own course at this time, and be Self-responsible–it’s the only way to have control over outcomes.

11 July talk is about power, even if it doesn’t seem to be, and material matters may make us feel less than adequately empowered. Best results come when we stay both centered and calm, no matter what.

12 July we can draw on empowerment lessons of the past to inform our present, and erratic behavior, rebelliousness, and show-offy displays of intellect or educational heft earn us a punch in the nose (figuratively or literally) and send us reeling off course. Channel contrariness into original efforts, and don’t worry about whether those efforts are propelling you closer to goals–it’s time to indulge your unique spark, to celebrate your individuality, and to find a form for it that wreaks as little havoc as possible.

We enter Dark of the Moon today–giving ourselves a little more solitude, a little more time to do things, and a little more space for contemplation and rest will benefit everything we do, and prepare us for the New Moon new beginning ahead.

13 July we could experience difficult financial or relationship situations, and though mental processes are practically-oriented and even wise, they may not adequately honor those things we value most. Communications could be fanciful, mislead us, or inspire us, and we see precisely how to go about healing troubled situations. If we can find a way to re-orient ourselves to our highest standards, we can make valuable headway in fixing what might have gone wrong, with our pocketbook or our interactions.

14 July it’s the things we’ve been ignoring, denying, and generally shoving under the rug that trip us up today. Instinct whispers to avoid those matters but odds are we will ignore the warning and plow forward–and we find ourselves tiltin’ at windmills again. And, resulting actions and choices cause unintended havoc in the reality picture. Slow down and deal with things one at a time–and don’t leave unpleasant dealings for later–attend to them now.

Albert Anker ‘Kind mit Puppe’ (Child with Doll) c19th century {{PD}}

Hello Poppets (defined as “a small figure of a human being used in sorcery and witchcraft”–yes, I’m sure that’s what I meant!) I’m back with a wee look ahead, here in the lee of the Full Moon. Yesterday’s events most likely re-defined something for you, something related to the House where the FM fell. And look, it wasn’t so bad, was it? We’re up and walking around already! Whether there was a tad of trauma involved or not, the change (even if it doesn’t seem so yet) is for the good–and if you were paying attention, it probably gave you a pretty solid idea of what to do next.

Today (the 2nd), we hear and say some surprising things; communications can turn on a dime, can shock, or we may receive a message (ultimatum?) from the group. Gird your loins. As to material matters, navigate them using instinct, and be aware of the potential for tripping over your own ‘blind spot’ material.

On the 3rd there may be a lot of unnecessary grousing, irritation, and behavior that threatens, just a little, the current power structure. Where you stand in the power hierarchy determines whether this is good or bad 🙂 Bonus: you may get a great idea or two, or understand how to expand interests or please the social sphere–but it’s not the best time to act on that. Note the inspired thoughts, and wait to implement.

On the 4th deep breathing is in order; enjoy the oddly quiet interior landscape. The good news is, that suggests we won’t be thinking about ourselves excessively, or mulling things over too much. We get an idea of what to expect by asking, What’s usually going on when we’re not focused on ourselves?

The 5th is problematic: we fixate on (or at least see) everything in our reality that “needs correcting”. The key is to recognize just how much of this is within our control to change–and how much is our own fault, because we’ve ignored or neglected matters. Please note: non-defensive communication brings cooperation, possibly reward, and definitely improves relationships.

Today, the 6th, the Sun opposes Pluto–which means that heavy-hitter is conjunct the Earth. The Sun also quincunxes Pallas. The implication may be that the environment and/ or material matters pose danger, a threat of destruction, or the opportunity for re-building or even transformation, in the Capricorn-connected areas of the natal chart, and in those ruled by Pluto. It’s smart to be willing to handle that Plutonian element of change head-on. Own your personal power (don’t pretend to be smaller than you are!) and things will move ahead productively.

And finally, by Tuesday the 7th the mental faculties are shining bright–and possibly become set in stone. Accepting that thinking must remain as it is today is a mistake that will cause us to act in ways that conflict with our highest values (and possibly damage our relationship to the mate or the home circumstances), and that may encourage us to sublimate upset and funnel it into relationships, or into financial ‘acting out’. Stay flexible, my friends; the only way things will go badly is if we are set on seeing ourselves and our thinking as ‘perfect’.

Check out my books here and watch for my new book on Vesta, coming this month! Services open up later this month–thanks for making me so busy!

Anders Zorn 1891

Anders Zorn 1891

20 June reality is not what it appears to be—and in particular, destructive or transformative elements may not play out as anticipated. What ‘blocks the light’ isn’t an obstacle so much as an expression of power that we are interpreting as a blockage or wall. Transform your idea of what’s stopping you, and you will be able to see how to get where you want to go. (Saturn quincunx Sun and semi-square Pluto)

21 June attempts to expand our reach clash with our highest values and priorities, and what we value we automatically think will be destroyed—and our thoughts, inescapable, seem written in stone. It’s an odd day when we feel caught by a dozen different currents, with none strong enough to actually determine our course, and none weak enough to allow us to row our boat out of the whirlpools and onto shore. There can be a lot of needless fear generated by our own busy minds; at the same time, we may come up with ideas that are winners, especially if they concern tapping into our personal power and working with, rather than against, authorities. Changes to relationships and financial circumstances occur at this time because we are too thoroughly divorced from reality; embrace what is, as decisions will go better and outcomes will be a lot more positive than they will if we ignore it. (Jupiter sesquiquadrate Vesta, Venus quincunx Pluto, parallel Mercury, and Merc and Venus contra-parallel Saturn, with Merc trine Ceres, and Sun into Cancer/ Earth into Capricorn)

‘Sign’ by Wassily Kandinsky, 1925 {{PD}}

This week’s tip:

Grand Square-Mars and the Sun are filling in a config with Chiron, Black Moon Lilith, and Pallas, which will last through sometime late Pacific time on the 14th. This takes our own particular stew of wisdom, ignored or denied factors, rage or perceptions of injustice, and energies dedicated to hurt or healing, and gives them energy and purpose. This combo can take us forward quickly, either into a morass of trouble, or on an active and smart path to healing–our choice, of course, with the determining factor how much the ego is involved in our choices.

This is the Full Moon report, from ECLIPSE; watch for my new book on Vesta, coming this summer, and see all my books here–thanks, and happy Full Moon!

The Full June Moon (perfect for spooning!) occurs at 9:18 AM Pacific time of the 2nd at 11 Sagittarius 49, sextiles Ceres, squares Neptune, is widely opposed Mars but a little too wide to count in opposition to Mercury (chiefly because movement is mutually away from meeting, rather than toward it), and is also sesquiquadrate Venus. This last listed aspect, to Venus, may be the most deceptive one, as we likely won’t even associate the ending, culmination, or event of the Full Moon with relationship or financial implications—and yet that’s the area (along with potential effects in the natal Houses ruled by Venus) where repercussions of what happens will finally land. We can expect the Full Moon to be the culmination of surgery on the psyche, with the effects to finances or relationships the unfortunate complications that come after.

Need they be negative? Not at all—in fact, the culmination offers us both an opportunity and a challenge—to take a good hard look at the use of our creative energy (and that can flow into literally any life area) and to ‘own our authority’, that personal sense of competence and the right to make our own choices that we can sometimes be too easily shaken from. The FM points out that we remain powerful no matter what, and it tells us that the effect is targeted in one, specific direction: we have the ability to change what’s not working, to re-direct energy so that it’s not squandered, and to banish procrastination and the need to seek permission—the events of this FM show us in no uncertain terms that we are our own authorities, we are powerful in our own lives—and we must both accept and admit that, and in doing so acknowledge that, to an extreme degree, we are the arbiters of our fate.

The Full Moon reminds us of our natural power, rejects fantasy and what’s untrue, and asks us to put the ego aside; we are invited into a powerful role that we were born to hold, one that allows no deception, that is pure in its expression, that connects us to the natural world in a psychic, spiritual, and visceral way. The culmination of this Lunar energy in Sagittarius demands that we respect knowledge, reality, and the Collective connection through shared information, common experience, and cultural similarities—and that we do so in a state that is both in line with Nature and true to ourselves, which requires openness and honesty—if we’re clinging to any false beliefs about ourselves or our world, we will have to let them go—and if we don’t, we see the difficulties those false beliefs cause when they infect the relationship or financial sphere.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Flag Turns Into An Eagle; The Eagle Into A Chanticleer Saluting The Dawn’. What begins as simple flag-waving, as loyalty instilled by rote, transforms into something dignified and noble, into something living and beautiful—the allegiance that seemed routine grows into a sincere feeling of beauty, pride, and constancy—and once we reach a level of understanding that allows us to ‘soar’ we can then take on the role of teacher, town crier, journalist, speaker, sharer, example, which by our very expression brings enlightenment to others.

We also look at the Sun for a Full Moon: ‘A Negro Girl Fights For Her Independence In The City’. Ignore the antiquated language and consider that when this symbol was formed through the agency of Elsie Wheeler and Marc Edmund Jones in 1925, the situation for a black girl looking for autonomy in a city was quite different than it is today; in that time there were few avenues open to her, and independence was only possible within a very restricted compass (though in any age there are always exceptions, such as Madame CJ Walker, who revolutionized the cosmetics industry in service to African-American women). Since the Sun sheds the ‘origin light’ that makes the entire dynamic of Sun-Moon interplay visible, this Sun Sabian may refer to a need within ourselves to recognize that our fight for progress and autonomy only occurs within a vary narrow spectrum of possibilities at any one time. Though we feel the whole world open before us, and myriad potentials within our grasp, with the array of possibilities seemingly overwhelming at times, the reality is that there are usually only a few directions we may take at any one moment, and these are often not so far from one another. It’s a myriad of small choices one after another that usually ends up bringing big change, and most of those choices occur beneath the level of conscious thought (in the Moon’s territory), revealed only by application of awareness (contact by the Sun). If we can be conscious of the parameters within which we make our choices, we will see that no matter how big the change feels, we still make that change, or move forward on the Path, one step at a time—that’s why it’s so important to not only keep our goals in mind, but to measure our actions in terms of how effectively they move us toward them.

New Moon in Taurus, May 2015: The Personal Artifact of Change

Ernest L. Blumenschein - 'The Gift' 1921 {{PD}}

Ernest L. Blumenschein – ‘The Gift’ 1921 {{PD}}

The New Moon occurs at 9:12 PM PDT of the 17th at 26 Taurus 55. The Taurus New Moon is conjunct Sedna, quincunx Pallas, and in wide sesquiquadrate to the North Node. Involvement of the Nodal point tells us that what is born here significantly shapes our future; the conjunction to Sedna implies what is awakened may be knowledge held deep within and related to instinct, something we aren’t entirely conscious of. Falling in Taurus, this promises either a material ‘new beginning’ or a new era in our sense of security and comfort, and this may be a loss or gain—we can’t tell ahead of time. We sense the ‘rightness’ of this next step (in a Karmic sense, if you will) both in its very occurrence, and in the way it contributes to shaping our Path. Contact to Pallas says if we’re smart and practical, we adjust—a failure to accept this new thing, this next step that originates in our internal depths is unwise, with the most likely sign of this an attempt to keep or return matters to their pre-New Moon state that is doomed to failure.

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘An Old Indian Woman Selling The Artifacts Of Her Tribe To Passersby’. Here we have someone who stands for the original inhabitants of a place, those who are as close to being a part of the land itself as possible, selling to Others a part of the ancestral inheritance. It’s one thing when a group creates products similar to the traditional items of their culture meant for sale to outsiders; it’s quite another when members of that same group sell the actual cultural items themselves, in effect trading their culture for sustenance or as a step along the Path, in preparation for change, even death (and we assume this as there’s little other reason that an individual parts with the underpinnings and artifacts of their way of life). The symbol suggests that the NM brings us to a point of desperation: we may feel there is nothing to be done to preserve ourselves except to dismantle our lives and sell off the parts! This is a bad thing, if we act with the idea that we have no choice, and no alternatives—but this can be a good thing, if we, as the figurative old woman of the symbol, are choosing to divest ourselves of things we no longer need, things we have ‘aged past’, or can hold in memory, so no longer need to hold them in our hands. It’s clear this NM brings a new beginning, one many may not immediately embrace, preferring what was to what’s coming; the symbol merely serves to show us there are multiple ways to approach change, and our choice about how to see it will shape the entire experience, just as the experience shapes us.

“Sommerdag ved Skagens Sønderstrand” (Summer day on Skagen’s southern shore) P.S. Krøyer 1883 {{PD}}

The Sabian is, ‘Telephone Lineman At Work Installing New Connections’ That tells us that what reads to us as an ending (the FM) is really making room for better communications, possibly with others, but most definitely with ourselves. We are finding out about who we are, seeing connections within our own psyches that we never saw before, and this necessitates the installation of new ways of creatively bridging our thoughts and experiences; with fresh ways of seeing and thinking come fresh ways of realizing our purpose—the new connections are meant to show us what was there all along, but which we’re only now beginning to understand, see, embrace, or connect, one thing to another.

The Sun for the Full Moon is, ‘On The Beach, Children Play While Shellfish Grope At The Edge Of The Water’ Use of the word ‘grope’ is very unusual; it implies, again, evolution (“at the edge of the water”) and a growing consciousness. The image says we may, in the greater Universal sense, not even have crawled out of the oceans yet, in terms of understanding—or maybe it says we are still like children at play, lacking an awareness of the underpinnings that allow our (relatively) carefree attitude. In any case, this illumination adds to our burgeoning ability to see and measure our own progress, and to give it meaning.

We’ll be very aware we’re lacking a certain below-the-surface harmony. Edgar Degas – 1885 {{PD}}

21 February we have an interesting situation astronomically, with Venus both conjunct Mars (at the same zodiacal degree) and also contra-parallel (each at the same distance from but on opposite sides of the celestial equator). This suggests a built-in struggle between the two energies, which on the surface appear to be together (the conjunction). It may mimic the way those same energies will meet internally (interaction and Self-Will, receptivity and action) or externally (a man and woman, being active while another person is passive, or vice-versa) and clash at a fundamental level. For the individual it may be like having one’s foot on the gas and on the brake at the same time; In interaction with others, it may be like a ballet dancer and a football player who want to team up—their methods, techniques, and ways of interacting are so very different that, though they intend for each to apply their skills in the same game, there’s no one game that suits them both. So, receptivity draws aggression, Love draws anger, Money draws Action, Jealousy draws temper, greed emphasizes individual wants—you get the picture—and of course this is happening in the first degree of Aries, where Mars is at home and Venus is not, suggesting that the easy go-to in uncomfortable situations may be lashing out or taking off. The only way forward may be to walk into any venture with the awareness that you will have contradictory urges within yourself to deal with, and that in any cooperative situation you will be fundamentally taking a different, even opposite, approach or viewpoint than the other party. Too, this aspect set may breed discord in spousal, romantic, or partnership relations, and turning away from individual interactions, we’ll likely find that the social sphere isn’t receptive, either. (Perfecting today: Venus conjunct and contra-parallel Mars, and sesquiquadrate Jupiter)

"Monsigneur Love" by Thomas Cooper Gotch - {{PD}}

“Monsigneur Love” by Thomas Cooper Gotch – {{PD}}

15 February some serious, serious power issues are front and center, and it’s up to each of us whether this will be expressed as coercion, a clash, or a negotiation. Territory is being staked out, even if it doesn’t appear that this is so; people are trying to establish a foothold, even a realm, and the values they express while doing so are more than a little driven by their ‘blind spot’ issues. That means they’ll be clear about what they want, but not about the real reasons they want it. (Perfecting Today: Pluto conjunct Ceres, Earth quincunx Mars, Venus sextile Sedna)

And a little Lunar essence, for the 16th:

6 AM PST of the 16th the Capricorn Moon sextiles Venus and trines Sedna. If there’s any point today when you can trust the emotional and intuitive prompts as much as the instinctive nature, it’s at this point; in fact, you may be pointed in the direction of Love and/ or Money. Noon the Moon is sextile Mars and quincunx Earth. This is an interesting window when we may make choices and act successfully, but without realizing how the material environment will adjust or need to be adjusted as a consequence. Just be aware that you won’t entirely see the potential outcomes ahead of time. Void begins at 12:47 PM PST; the Moon enters Aquarius at 4:14 PM Pacific time. 8 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Mercury. The mind may race with higher vibration concepts; bring them down-to-Earth (and make them relate-able) by translating through the emotional lens. 11 PM PST the Moon sextiles Saturn, connecting us to the reality situation through attention to our emotional reactions. This can inform our thinking in a very positive way.

These are excerpts from the now unavailable-to-new-subscribers ECLIPSE. See my books here. Thanks, and have a great week!
