The 1st there’s something I might term ‘Purity of Intention’ going on, where our imagination and ideals inspire us to adjust our actions so that they’re wise, our relationships so that empowerment is fair and others are honored appropriately, and in following this instinctual course we end up making surprising strides toward ambition fulfillment. Our only issue might be that when we act, especially act propelled by our own ego or Will, we may not be very smart about it. With these influences, there’s something about taking ourselves out of the equation that allows us to soar so much higher (Neptune contra-parallel Hygeia, Mars qnx Pallas, Venus qnx Juno, Sun nov Zeus and parallel Sedna)

On the 2nd Mercury squares Juno, and we may find ourselves arguing against or thinking in conflict with our own empowerment. Befuddled reasoning is a sure sign that we’re working against ourselves, while others’ delivery of negative commentary suggests they’re the power-stealing culprit.

I’m not talking about the one who raised you, or the ideal you have of how a perfect mother would behave–I’m talking about the internalized mother we all carry, an Archetype that carries the voices of both your personal experiences with the maternal and those of the Collective to which you’ve been exposed. This is so even if we aren’t aware of it, or even if we protest we couldn’t possibly have one, because our mother was so dysfunctional that we rejected her example outright! We all know what being loved in a motherly way feels like (even if we were deprived of this in real life), and it’s that Sense of Loving Nurture that we are asked to tap into today. This Archetype, and our own instincts, can successfully guide us right now, but there’s something else: the Sun and Venus are as far apart as they ever get, in a tense semi-square, and this suggests we’ll also see or be aware of the negative side in relationships, of the ways we are denied love, or deny it to others, and this can reveal to us where we are so deeply injured that it distorts our very concept of Love. It shows us, at a more profound level than even the Chirotic wound, where we need to heal, and that brings us to something that remains true in every circumstance: we can’t look to externals to ‘fill’ that need for Love–only we can heal ourselves–and today our instinctual nature may reveal to us exactly how to achieve that (Ceres trine and parallel Sedna, Sun semi-sq Venus)

Why does it seem like today everything we love, all those things that seem so smart, so wise, so worthy of reverence, makes us edgy, nervous, feeling like the only way to move forward is slowly, looking over our shoulder? It’s pure instinct, screaming at us to for gods’ sake prepare mentally for what is going to abruptly, suddenly, shockingly appear in our lives. We can’t know ahead of time what that will be or even when that will be (but it will be soon); we can only know that our current mentality is inadequate to respond effectively and process accurately. It’s time, then, to look at how we’re spending our time, at what we’re treating as sacred, at how and where we’re dedicating our energies–and so decide very consciously what our daily life and work will be about. That’s the only adequate defense against Uranian threats to what we love–knowing who we are, and knowing what matters, automatically tells us what to do in an upset or an emergency (Pallas sq Sedna, Vesta nov SN, Venus contra-parallel Uranus, Merc sesq Hygeia)

Today’s the day–we are empowered (via our minds, and our very Beingness!) to shine, to make plans, to change and adjust and transform and think it into being. Be flexible, especially with the big, serious things, keep ultimate goals in mind, be willing to change to get where you want to go, even as you stay faithful to your essence by letting your inner wisdom and character guide you. It’s no good getting to our destination if we’ve compromised our values in the process (Merc sxt Zeus and qnx Pluto, Sun parallel Juno) But then again, maybe a more relaxed approach will get us just as far:

Bonus: if you have a natal placement at 17.30-20.30 degrees of Gemini, then that placement is part of the base of a Finger of God with transiting Mercury, apex transiting Pluto. This suggests communication of, or contemplation of, the natal energy results in big, permanent, possibly somewhat destructive change. Think carefully on it, as what is removed or transformed will be irrevocable–not to make you nervous or anything.

Today’s word image is a previously winning racehorse resisting being lead onto the track. What ‘champion’ skill, accomplishment, or ability are you finding it difficult for you to exercise? You may be confounded as to why something that’s won you praise in the past may be making you balk now, but it’s the Higher Mind simply pointing out that to repeat oneself rarely enlivens the Soul. Take it in a new direction, confident enough in your skills to know you can handle the challenge.

It’s mostly smooth sailing, with only two things to look out for: the way our thoughts may contradict, or at least not mesh, with reality, and the way the past seems to loom large over today. Neither influence is fatal, if by fatal we mean running us off the rails and into the bushes–but then again, how effective can we be in our own choices and actions if we are thinking in ways that either don’t recognize the way things are, or if we are behaving as if the past means more than it does, as if it can dictate the present? So, if you find yourself drifting, re-align yourself to reality with objective statements that can be verified, and poke the past a few times, if you must, just to prove to yourself how dead it really is (Mercury sesq Saturn, Sun qnx SN, Hygeia trine NN)

Interesting to note for today, the 26th, as Venus perfects a square to Pluto, she also conjoins Zeus (and this will bleed over into the next day or two). So, the discord that a square can stir (and one to Pluto can easily spin up into a riot, a ‘You can’t fire me, I quit!’ kind of destructive fit) combines with a kind of heart’s desire energy, and the mix may result in a lashing out when we aren’t getting the prize we desire. Just be aware–a lack doesn’t translate as you never getting what you want, so why not use the energy to delve into what you might need to change in order to get it?

For the 27th the big event is Mars going direct. Is that gust of wind the combined sighs of everyone who’s been holding their breath over this? Because if so, their relief is premature. Mars does his about-face as major body of latest degree–meaning his energy is out there, swingin’ all on its own–and that can make for precipitous action as people sense the ease up and believe that’s a ‘Go!’ signal. Instead it’s more of a ‘look around and consider what you might want to do, once you get your bearings.

All other aspects simply amplify these major chords, with the addition of effects from Mercury sesquiquadrate Chiron and square Jupiter. This suggests thinking, reasoning, and yes speaking from the wound, likely without our realizing it–and what comes out may challenge our own beliefs about life, and certainly may pinpoint our disillusion with the social sphere–but does that help anybody? Only if it makes us more aware of what we can do to make things better–otherwise it may just kick up a lot of complaint, and fuel actions with badly mixed motives. But, if we can hold on to a gift from the 26th, where our thinking was able to disown or ignore the worst illusions and so show us our best power position and our most effective way of affecting the world, we can take that stirred up energy and point it in the ‘right’ direction (Merc qnx Neptune and nov Ceres)

The only way to achieve that wonderful material balance, that careful mix of spontaneity and stasis, originality and tradition, resistance and abandon, is to be willing to see: the facts, what wounds, other people and their wants (especially the wants they have of which they’re unconscious), and to be aware of our own vulnerability on the social scene (or when living by the larger social order’s rules). Our beliefs may suffer, and our relationships or finances are subjected to a kind of ‘hands off’ attitude that may make us feel powerless where we expected to be able to exert our Will. Look out for, even under the best circumstances, a bit of a power struggle, a little tug-of-war in a dispute of Wills, and meet everything with kindness kindness kindness–it’s the best balm, and the best weapon, we’ll have (Jupiter sesq Chiron, Venus contra-parallel Juno, Sun-Uranus-Saturn Earth Grand Trine perfects, Sun is also qnx Black Moon Lilith)

On Staying on the Path: I’ve been seeing a lot of talk online lately that I can sum up something like this: everything will be OK, as long as you stick to your Path. I just want to say, No. It’s simply impossible not to be on your Path. Every step, even ones you regret, or later backtrack on, are part of your Path. Telling yourself that you could make a move that takes you off your Path is paralyzing and causes truckloads of Self-doubt, on top of just plain being wrong. So don’t fear getting lost or wandering off; you are the one making the choices, and you literally can’t make a wrong one, in the sense that you learn from everything you choose, and that it is you and only you making those choices–and isn’t that the point of the journey in the first place, Self-discovery, experiences, learning and becoming? So relax–even if things are a mess, they’re your mess–that means you are in charge, you can change them at any time, and they are there, speaking of and to you, empowering you to know yourself by your choices, your creations.

Let me clarify: wisdom is not found in those things you tell yourself you revere, but in those things you actually honor with your time, energy, money, attention. Today’s word image is: Two Countries in a Dispute Over Territory. Boundaries and borders are artificial constructs, and they are about two things: the power to control the resources therein, and the responsibility to attend to whomever and whatever occurs there. Is there some part of the life where you are claiming the power, but not taking the responsibility? Or are you taking responsibility somewhere but allowing the power to be taken by someone else?

What does healthy Self-assertion look like to you? We may think it has something to do with flexing our muscles, declaring our power, or marking our territory, because it kind of feels like we need to do that–but we should know that, at least today, we would be doing that only for ourselves, and possibly putting others off in the process. It may feel as if we’re required to make choices that compromise us and that threaten our personal power, status, or reach. In reality, the issues will center in being willing to bend enough to honor our own values and commitments–so you see, it’s an internal issue, at essence, one where the unbending ego insists it’s being wronged, when what you’re really called to do is live up to your own obligations and ideals–walking your talk, if you will (Juno semi-sq Hygeia, Vesta sq Ceres)

Over the next few days, we have an Earth Grand Trine with the Sun, Saturn, and Uranus. Our attention goes to sudden, instantaneous changes to our reality picture, to obstacles, barriers, restraints, rules, and perhaps most importantly, to results of the passage of time and past efforts–and with the Moon approaching Full (perfecting AM PDT of the 26th)  those results, coupled with the signature endings of a Full Moon, are likely to feel too restrictive, like a dead-end, like something has closed in on us. This is specifically because of the Sun’s current approach in trine to Saturn–as if possibilities and alternatives simply slip away–and we see it, spotlighted, before us, our awareness likely exaggerating the importance or the effect itself. ‘I’ve got no choice’ may become the refrain for those operating unconsciously. For the rest of us, however, there’s hope. If you’re not happy with what you see developing around you, you may want to gather energies and intent to be dedicated at the time of the Full Moon; these should focus on what you want to create for the future (Pisces Full Moon quincunx the North Node). Just something to think about in the run up to the Lunar event.

Today’s word image is an astrological aspect: Saturn trine Uranus–let’s make that any natal relationship between the two. In the birth chart they offer a small recipe for stasis, balance, and energy flow and expenditure in the life; they can also delineate the internal individual relationship between the spirit of radicalism, modernism, and chaos and ‘What Is’, as well as one’s likely relationship to ‘the Group’ and response to authority. I have the trine natally, with Uranus ruling my Ascendant and Saturn my 12th (Whole Sign)–and certainly, I’ve seen the flow of unconscious (and sometimes Cosmic) material into my interface with the rest of the world–and it’s here we may note that Saturn is ancient ruler of Aquarius, drawing the two, no matter how disparate they seem, as much more alike than we may realize–for what happens to the revolutionary, once the revolution is over? As the Sun enters Virgo we’re likely to turn a critical eye on ourselves, others, and/ or our environment; the funny thing is, though we’ll have a helluva time finding common ground in relationships, with a little reflection we’ll know instinctively what actually needs to be corrected (in ourselves and our environment), what needs to ‘line up’, and what’s just a distraction produced by a restless imagination. We’ll also have the chance to see how well-meshed our empowerment urges and our real-life power situation truly are–and if we see a big gap, we are likely to experience which ever one we are most alienated from manifest as another person–so, we may have to deal with someone in authority, someone with whom we must negotiate, someone who takes a parental stance with us, or someone who feels slighted and so insists on exerting her power over us–whether it makes sense or not. Keep reactivity to a minimum, observe what’s outside you (because that’s either something you’re disowning or a warning of a direction you may be headed) and consider how that can be incorporated in a positive way. Today’s word image is a young man with a large tattoo of a lion that covers his right arm and shoulder. The Sun may have vacated Leo, but Mercury, the North Node, and Pallas are still there. That suggests our thinking, our idea of which way we want to be headed in life, and what’s wise, smart, or practical are somehow lagging behind the times, and the tattoo of the image is associated with the right side, the active, doing energy–so this may be about looking at what we can do to bring our own efforts and the way we see them ‘up to date’–that is, taking them beyond the highly personal viewpoint of Leo to a more objective Virgoan assessment.
