'A pageant of childhood' Thomas Cooper Gotch {{PD}}

‘A pageant of childhood’ Thomas Cooper Gotch {{PD}}

The Full Moon is conjunct Jupiter, in a Fire Grand Trine with Pallas and Uranus, and apex to a Finger of God with base of Pluto-Chiron. This suggests two exaggerated dynamics working simultaneously, with both emphasizing the role of the individual (Leo) in the social context (Jupiter). The GT says that the FM can trigger smart and original action that expands our world or brings some personal matter to conclusion. The Finger suggests that successful healing brings transformation of matters of the House where the Full Moon falls in the natal chart, or brings transformation of the social position/ role. These configs may bring big, sweeping events, the abrupt cessation of something, and/ or fulfillment to some unique and original plan or dream—with this latter it may be more about ‘concluding the dream’, wrapping up planning, and for the first time seeing that your optimism was well placed—your plan is going forward.

The Sabian for the FM is, ‘A Pageant, With Its Spectacular Floats, Moves Along A Street Crowded With Cheering People’. A pageant is often a symbolic reenactment of a journey or progression of events; this one is presented like a parade, and suggests that the Full Moon brings a kind of celebration of what has been prepared, considered, nurtured, or expressed. It’s an overwhelmingly positive symbol, in the sense that things must be peaceful, prosperous, and the populace must be largely in agreement for this kind of thing to occur, and tells us that the results of the Full Moon are almost those of a harvest, a celebration of our own good choices.

By the 31st we’ll begin to see whether we’ve hit our mark or not. ‘The Fair Toxophiles’ William Powell Frith 1871 {{PD}}

I wanted to mention a little something that likely won’t get a lot of attention otherwise: a Fire Grand Trine consisting of Pallas, Juno, and Uranus. It’s been around for about a week now; we can look back and probably see something of its influence. Action seeking empowerment has been fueled by an array of impulses, including spontaneity, rebelliousness, a desire to modernize, the impulse to cooperate with the group, and those unique qualities and viewpoints that inform our individuality. Pallas is a smart and practical indicator, suggesting what we choose will be in our own best interests, no matter how erratic or disruptive it appears from without; Juno, too, will be attuned to what empowers us as individuals, not what supports those already in authority, and with each of us defining empowerment as many different ways as there are snowflakes, we can be sure that even those choices that look decidedly disempowering from the outside made sense to the person making them.

This continues through the 31st, when Earth takes the place of Juno; when that occurs, we begin to see material effects of the choices we’ve made and the actions taken. Our surroundings will reflect our actions in a very particular way: we’ll see just how empowering our choices have been, or how they’ve missed the mark. Earth leaves the Trine by the 6th of February.

Go for the trapeze artists, but stay for Miss Louise Hilton! Library of Congress via Wikimedia c1920 {{PD}}

25 January our own Willfulness can cause problems, and erratic behavior by ourselves or others in relationships or with money creates negative changes to our life direction. It’s good to know that difficulties are seated in imprudent action, rather than in anything we can’t prevent—the odd thing is, we have a clear picture of the current reality, and our thoughts and plans are centered on what we value and care about—so why does doing something, anything, seem to go so wrong? Temper and irresponsibility play their parts; so does Merc retro, which means that, though we think clearly, succinctly, and plan successfully, we can’t adequately convey that, nor are we suited to going forward in any way with implementing these thoughts. Take note of thoughts and plans, for they can be very informative and useful later, but save taking action for another day. (Perfecting today: Mars quincunx Juno, Venus semi-square Uranus and sesquiquadrate the North Node, Mercury parallel Venus, Sun parallel Saturn)

Today’s image is a trapeze artist, blindfolded. Of course, that makes sailing from one bar to the other that much tougher–but presumably, those who engage in trapeze work are so familiar with what they must do, that their bodies can carry out the right moves at the right time, without too much conscious interference. What are you being called to do that seems a little scary, a little tricky, but that if you allow sense and muscle memory to do their thing, it will go very well?

Dark of the Moon + the Sabian Symbol for the New Moon in Aquarius January 2015

Thanks to Jon Sullivan for contributing this image of San Juan Capistrano to the public domain.

We’ll be heading into the monthly Dark of the Moon period midway through this weekend; normally this is a time for introspection, contemplation, and being away from the world, in some sense. This allows for a kind of gestation that ‘births’ ideas, viewpoints, and experiences as the New Moon unfolds. We can’t always lock ourselves away, and the resulting dissonance between the need to go inward and the demands of the external can be jarring and leave us exhausted–so we look, wrongly, for relief with the return of the illuminated Moon. The New Moon renews only in the sense that it begins a cycle; it’s much more about re-emergence into a more active role in the world than it is about re-generation. Even though everything, including our own cells, is stimulated to grow under the pull of a New Moon, if we have not been allowed the needed rest period before hand . . . you see my point: without an adequate time of rest, the New Moon can stress, rather than refresh.

New Moon in Aquarius January 20th at 5:13 AM Pacific time at 00 Aquarius 08

Look to the matters of the House where the New Moon falls for the life area or subjects of the ‘birth’ within our reality picture. The Sabian is, ‘An Old Adobe Mission In California’. Being from California, I have been to many of these, and I love them, in spite of the uglier facets of what they once stood for—now they are only gardens and chapels, often oases of green in places that are crowded and topped over with concrete. The symbol echoes the repeating of the early Moon degree, with each mission just one in a chain strung up and down California—and this suggests that however these new beginnings (related to all the early degree New Moons of Fall and Winter) we have been seeing came about, even if the circumstances were ugly or inhumane, what they will become with time and personal growth are spots of mental or emotional respite (the Aquarian Moon), places that make a clear statement about what we should keep from the past, and what leave behind.

We’re under a loose Mystic Rectangle now, a configuration that almost magically amps up the involved energies and helps them help one another. The rectangle has a point, in this case we’ll start with the Mercury-Venus conjunction in Aquarius, trine a second point (North Node and Zeus) sextile a third (Juno in Leo) trine a fourth (South Node-Uranus) which naturally happens to sextile the first. This combination suggests thinking and feeling, communications, relationships, and finances, are in accord, and successfully aligning with ambitions and desire fulfillment that are specifically concerned with future developments and goals–we don’t have any trouble keeping where we want to end up in mind–and that is both empowering, and lowers the chances we will rebel against our own plans, behave erratically, or suddenly change course, as we are aware of how our own irregular choices (or accidents or mishaps) may have sunk things in the past. This is a point when we can make a lot of headway, and make choices that are consistent with our ultimate wishes and goals.

Things to watch out for: thinking and not acting–the Merc-Venus conjunction in Aquarius inclines us to intellectual activity and to using that lens for most perceptual duties–and that means we can get ‘lost in our heads’, thinking we’re being effective in the world when most of the activity is actually only mental; Juno in Leo says that empowerment may give us an ego or image boost–and we may easily believe our own press–keep perspective; and remember that indulging in the erratic or rebellious is where we can short-circuit the flow of this config. The Mystic Rectangle is in effect now and continues through the 17th.

Just a little from my New Moon assessment, part of the ECLIPSE subscription package; to see it all, please subscribe!

New Moon on 21 December at 5:36 PM Pacific time at 00 Capricorn 06: Self-Possession
Even with generous orbs we only get New Moon contact in two notable ways: a trine to Black Moon Lilith, and a sesquiquadrate to Juno, and it also squares the Aries Point, suggesting the importance of the NM in a way the aspects don’t reveal, such that what occurs may be life-altering. A NM is an inception, but what is born here? In Capricorn we’re talking about energies of a constructive nature, perhaps of containment or for forming boundaries. The Lilith aspect says this Moon could act like a funnel, bringing forward every ignored or hidden matter, forcing us to begin to deal with them. It could also birth a Lilithian rage, a need to condemn every injustice we’ve suffered. And it could bring us to a point of accepting our position as we find ourselves, and then giving us the cojones to walk away from whatever we find unacceptable, in terms of our dignity, our honor, or our Self-respect. This definitely impacts our empowerment situation, but in a very specific way: we are at a point of complete Self-possession, so that any clout we got from partnerships, status, or through others may be endangered because we won’t see ourselves as interdependent anymore. This can be good—we will never again allow anyone to mistreat us—or bad—we could throw out our babies (relationships, financial arrangements, jobs, reciprocal situations) with our insistently independent bathwater (I’ll bet those three words have never appeared together in that order in a sentence before).

10 December The personal planets changing signs are felt more easily and more intimately than the outers, mostly because they are so involved in our face-to-face interactions, so when Venus snuggles into the warm, dark box where Cappy likes to keep all its favorite things, we may become aware of the shift in interaction and values: relationships may suddenly become about ‘the rules’ and if someone feels unloved, they may take a hard line in trying to make their point. Venus is likely to sulk at first, and then adapt, so expect, especially if your natal Venus is in a ‘softer’ sign, to feel a little put out by all the emphasis on budgets and boundaries—and then you’ll likely find yourself adopting more austere ways, seeing the beauty in containment and control, and finally (ladies wearing pants so your knickers don’t show, kicking yourself high up but not dangerously so, and only while wearing one of those soft helmets for play) getting into the (literal, with this sign) swing of things. (Perfecting today: Venus enters Capricorn)

The excerpt above is from ECLIPSE, which is my subscription service that features Daily forecasts and a Weekly with articles and more; it will be ending in its present form on 1 July 2015. Anyone interested in a new subscription: sign up now and receive the entire time through the end date for the new subscription price–that’s almost 7 months–I won’t be accepting any new subscribers or re-ups from lapsed subscriptions after 1 January 2015. When ECLIPSE ends, all subscribers current at that point will receive a free copy of ‘We Are All Vessels: Vesta in the Natal Chart’, my almost completed (and long promised!) new book. The book will be for sale through Dog & Sunflower Press after that point. So, the 6th year of ECLIPSE begins and ends in 6 short months–Thank you All for a wonderful run!! And I do believe in reincarnation–I might be back.

9 December we may find anger or destructive urges are revealed by actions, choices may lean toward the negative (so if you want an affirmative reply, don’t ask now), and yet those with whom we communicate show how much they love and treasure us, and it’s pleasant to socialize. Deals can be put together that are profitable for all, but don’t take action on any agreement yet—leave that for later, when the anger (of which we’re probably consciously unaware) has passed. If you want to ‘tear it down’ in some sense, now’s the time to move on it. (Perfecting today: Mars parallel Pluto and semi-square Mercury, Mercury parallel Venus)

30 November our own minds, what we imagine, might turn out to be our own worst enemy—we may frighten ourselves with extrapolations and ‘What If?’ and may be far too quick to credit the past as better, smarter, and as holding the keys to success in the future. No, that’s not right. Bring everything valuable from the past but realize that it must take a new shape to go into the future; then, if you can clear the mind of fear, harness creative visualization to draw a picture of precisely what you want—attractive quality is strong right now, and so must be turned toward what will be, not used to generate boogey men. (Venus trine the South Node and sextile NN-Zeus, Mercury square Neptune)

Today’s image is a golem, made of clay, animated by what frightens us. The word means “unshaped form” and hints that what pursues, torments, troubles, and seems to bedevil us from without are really just those things we strongly fear; fear carries a charge that can invest inanimate material with life, and so deliver what we are most scared of right to us. Consider how differently those things that frighten us appear when we realize we are generating them ourselves, animating them with negative energy, and sending them out to chase us with a loud ‘Boo!’ Not so scary, anymore, are they? The image echoes Merc square Neptune, described in its current scenario above.

John William Waterhouse ‘Echo and Narcissus’ 1903 {{PD}}

26 November actions and choices follow our highest values, and dealings with both money and relationships come from a position of personal strength and sureness in our unique worth—and yet what we do somehow comes from hurt, a kind of ‘making up for the past’ impulse that, for all our success, may leave us a little sad, and may subtly undermine our choices. We can avoid this ‘past echo’ effect if we can free the mind from any residual embarrassment over expressing our own uniqueness, and if we can avoid falling into the delusion that we are in complete, conscious control of our lives and the direction they take. (Mars parallel Vesta, Venus square Chiron, conjunct Ceres, and trine Uranus, Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus, Neptune square the Sun-Earth axis)
1 AM PST of the 26th the Capricorn Moon trines Sedna. We may be able to successfully combine intuition, emotional perceptions, and instinct to firm up and make final some important choices or agreements to our advantage–do it if you can. 5 AM PST the Moon sextiles Saturn and catches Vesta at the midpoint. We may find ourselves swayed heavily toward supporting a reality that respects what we care about–choices made at this point, then, can’t help but be good ones. 7 AM PST the Moon sextiles Mercury; thoughts follow feelings, feelings follow thoughts. 10:30 AM PST the Moon quincunxes Black Moon Lilith in the 29th degree. We may meet sudden emotional crisis in the form of things too long ignored. Now that you know, don’t ignore them! Void begins at 11:11 AM PST; the Moon enters Aquarius at 11:23 AM PST. 6:30 PM PST the Moon trines Earth. Surroundings are likely to be hospitable–if they’re not, make them that way.

Fire Grand Trine Venus-Ceres/ Uranus/ Juno=Efforts that empower, show individual uniqueness and originality, and that draw on one’s natural roles or on Nature herself will be highly successful at this time. Pour your fire into a form that reflects you.

Today’s image is a large knife with an oddly bent tip. Does this imperfection ruin the knife? No, it may not matter at all, depending on how we want to use the knife. Don’t overemphasize in your own mind those imperfections we all have and are aware of–they don’t, and can’t, stop you from doing what you were made for.

You can get this delivered to your email each and every day for the next 7+ months for the price of a 6 month subscription! Subscribe now (no more subs will be accepted after 1 January 2015) and reserve your free copy of ‘We Are All Vessels: Vesta in the Natal Chart’! And have a great Wednesday!
