'Cornstalks in the Moonlight' Theodor Kittelsen c1900 {{PD}}

‘Cornstalks in the Moonlight’ Theodor Kittelsen c1900 {{PD}}

The eclipse of 15 April falls at 25 Libra 15, and is a Full Moon (Lunar eclipse), conjunct transiting energies Ceres, North Node, and Vesta, opposed t Juno, quincunx t Sedna, sesquiquadrate t Venus, and sextile t Pallas. On its own the eclipse suggests a watershed point in partnership, cooperative efforts, artistic endeavors, and in regard to ‘the Other’, everything and everyone outside ourselves. A Full Moon brings an ending, but within this is found a new beginning; this particular culmination/ beginning is amplified by an eclipse, and married (so Libra!) to Nature/ Authority (Ceres), the future (NN), and to an impeccable level of dedication of life energy (Vesta)–it is, in effect, a relational seed point that carries a walloping life force–and this contradicts the kind of puny, Willful, egotistical sense of empowerment that may be found in negative manifestation of Juno in Aries (opposition), as well as causing adjustment to the unconscious (Sedna) and cooperation with what’s ultimately wise (Pallas). The Sabian for this eclipse is, ‘An Eagle And A Large White Dove Change Into Each Other’ This symbolism implies that the ‘other’ focus of Libra involves an actual transformation of one half of a pair into the other, and vice versa; what we are observing or are partnered with, then, becomes what we are.

The Solar eclipse occurs April 28-29 (depending on your location) at 8 Taurus 51, a New Moon that only sextiles Neptune; everything else is outside even a generous orb, with Mercury just days past Superior Conjunction (if this were moving toward the eclipse point I would consider counting it) and Mars, though moving retrograde, outside the orb for a quincunx. That lays it all on Neptune and the Sabian for this eclipse, ‘A Fully Decorated Christmas Tree’. The New Moon, eclipse or not, also indicates new starts; so, we’re looking at a new beginning that may be born of ideals, fantasy, or creative application (Neptune), and that could represent (the Christmas tree) a time of celebration, could usher in an ‘ideal’ period, or present the beginning of a personal creative initiative (birth) or renaissance (re-birth). We’re looking at a pair of factors (the Sabian and Neptune) that describe personal ideals–but particularly with the Sabian, we have to note that the celebration is based on our relationship to the unseen, on faith. It’s not related to any specific religion, but instead on our individual idea of a kind of ‘perfect moment’, the kind that memories are built on and that are striven for consistently in everyday life.

Just a Little Lunar Essence: the Lunar Eclipse 18 October 2013: I Am

The first eclipse of the set is Lunar (a Full Moon) and falls at 25 Aries 45, arriving at 4:38 PM PDT (and for those of you who are tickled by synchronicities, I called the chart program up at precisely 4:38 PM, so that when I went to the correct day, there was the eclipse, already perfected!) We use, of course, our very strict orbs (that always somehow seem to get stretched!) so that the only aspect made is a quincunx to Ceres.

The singular event for this Lunar eclipse centers on a Full Aries Moon that is in uncomfortable aspect to the asteroid named for the goddess in control of the seasons, of nature itself, and with a powerful sense of territoriality and the strength to negotiate with even the most formidable opponents (in Ceres’ case, that was Pluto).

An Aries Full Moon marks the culmination of personal, individual effort, making a statement of the ‘I Am’ in no uncertain terms; we expect this statement in the natal House where the FM falls, and it’s purpose is Self-assessment, through a lens of completion: ‘I know I am ‘x’, because I have done ‘y”.

The Ceres quincunx suggests that the eclipse event of ‘I Am’ must take into account some power player, perhaps a woman of influence or authority, perhaps simply a human-shaped force of nature, or possibly an entity that feels they have say over our world, to the point of dictating our circumstances or negotiating our permissions, or another with whom we must ourselves negotiate in determining territory and reach. It may be someone from whom we have sought ‘permission’ of one kind or another at some point, who still believes your Self-statement is subject to their approval. It’s one of Ceres’ less endearing traits that someone strongly identified with this role may not clearly see her own legitimate boundaries–and this is something those involved with the lady (no matter what form she comes in) nearly always must negotiate for themselves–in this way contact with Ceres may challenge us to establish our boundaries to others, to announce our territory, or to say what or who we have dominion over–certainly an ‘I Am’ statement of the first order.

Just a thought, morning of the 17th: Should we expect Mother Nature to act up? Maybe–with Ceres in Virgo, earthquakes may be the thing, but does fiery Aries promise lava? We’ll see! Sounds like a ‘scorched earth’ policy, in some important sense.

The final eclipse in a series of three occurs 24 May at 9:24:55 PM PDT at 4 Sagittarius 08, with the only aspect a square to Neptune. Since a Lunar eclipse is a Full Moon, we would naturally look for the conclusion of something; in this instance, though, we have the energy of a T-square as the primary outlet, suggesting that any resolution realized will be funneled into Neptunian results, events, or will be met with a Neptune-focused consciousness. Whatever concludes for us will spur Neptunian expression of a kind that is most characteristic of our natal Neptune. That means that though we may intend to be creative, to do dream explorations, to begin a regular meditation practice, or to sleep a full 8 hours every night, for example, we may instead find ourselves chasing a recurring fantasy (Sagittarius related, so focused on an educational, religious, travel, reaching out/ publishing/ broadcasting or foreign influences/ destinations scenario, or in the matters of the natal House with Sag on the cusp), being lied to once again, confused, or back on the same creative or delusional path.

What we thought had ended a month ago (let’s call it our belief that something wasn’t possible) is now being faced as possible, with all the tribulations involved apparent. So, we were notified at the initial Lunar eclipse of this set that the dream really was possible, and now we are being shown the nitty-gritty of how to do it–that is, if we’ll only refuse to be caught in characteristic Neptunian ideas, escapes, or avoidances. The month since the initial eclipse has presented us with every potential conflict in relation to realizing that dream, symbolized by the T-square of Neptune to the eclipse axis. We are now, with this eclipse, seeing the end of the illusion: we see what it takes to reach our ‘impossible’ goal–which is to say, we are truly, at this time, equipped to pursue and achieve it.

The Sabian Symbol is ‘An Old Owl Sits Alone On The Branch Of A Large Tree’.  This draws my attention to Pallas, which happens to be body of latest degree at 27 Taurus 52, and which receives a conjunction from Mars. This suggests we look to the spot in the natal chart where the eclipse falls, or where Pallas transits, for the wisdom needed to act, even to fight, in order to pursue our dream.

I’m going to get right down to it, this time: the essence of the eclipse (12:57 PM PDT at 5 Scorpio 45) is that something surrounding this event will show us that what we once thought impossible is very, very possible. That can take many different forms, and is at the heart of today’s developments. The opening up of possibilities sets the stage for the next two events, a Solar eclipse on 10 May and another Lunar one on 25 May. More detail and Sabian analyses are available in ECLIPSE–but why clutter things up unless you want it?

Order today and receive all 3 issues with material on this eclipse set, plus a new issue this evening, Pacific time! Have a great one–and take the revelation you receive today seriously–if we don’t consciously choose, potentials have a way of becoming reality, whether we want them to or not.

Here, let this tranquil picture of a woman and her owl soothe you. by Valentine Cameron Prinsep {{PD-Art}}

Here, let this tranquil picture of a woman and her owl soothe you. by Valentine Cameron Prinsep {{PD-Art}}

I think we need to disentangle ourselves from the tense vortex of external events and internal tensions in which we all seem to be spinning. Easier to say than do, at this point, with Mars and the Sun conjoined in the 29th degree of Aries–either alone in an anaretic degree would be stressful, but together they become an intense martial weapon sent out into the cosmos, as if the combination elevates the Martian ‘attack/ weapon’ energy to nuclear intensity by adding the reactor that is the Sun. We all feel it; maybe we can use it (or at least express some of the energy safely) if we can re-direct it, as the eclipse/ Full Moon slated for the 25th will need our attention (it promises to show us that a dream, goal, or aim we thought was impossible isn’t–for more, see ECLIPSE).

The Sun’s current House position in your chart may suggest a good outlet for what amounts to a nuclear bomb’s worth of power. Pinpoint goals related to this area and release the beast–and watch it all get done. This may (if the Sun doesn’t change Houses for you before the eclipse) be the beginning stage of the revelation that’s to come with the Full Moon; by the day of the eclipse Pallas and Venus will be conjunct in Taurus, far enough from the eclipse that they don’t figure in to its meaning, but still exerting their own influence, by uniting values and wisdom, showing the worth of following that inner source of guidance, and by temporarily using both relationships and finances as a vehicle for useful, smart information.

Subscribers: my apologies for a mistake in the 5-11 April issue that contains the Lunar eclipse assessment for this coming Full Moon. I wrote at one point that Mars is in Aries and so more intense for the effect; this is incorrect, it will be in Taurus, and is so noted as there in the rest of the eclipse discussion. I probably had way too many charts up at one time, and looked at the wrong one! The Warrior being in Taurus only reinforces a sense of more material-oriented action, toning down the Will and bringing more emphasis to the physical and to resources.

To those who are thinking of subscribing: order now and receive all three issues that contain the complete assessment of the upcoming 3-part eclipse series! For a traditional viewpoint, please see this by the excellent Peter Stockinger.

A Little Something on the Upcoming Eclipse 13 November 2012: ‘Senseless Sport’

‘Right and Left’ Homer 1909 {{PD-Art}}

New Moon of November 13th at 2:07 PM Pacific Standard time at 21 Scorpio 56 is a Solar eclipse

The Sabian for the eclipse is, ‘Hunters Shooting Wild Ducks’. This suggests something free and wild stalked by, and possibly destroyed by, something predatory–and the something predatory is equipped with ‘arms’ and ‘ammo’ against which the hunted is essentially defenseless. The ‘wild things’ are frightened from their protective cover, made to flee in the hope that they can protect themselves by getting away. Though it may seem obvious, we should note that duck hunting is a very deliberate, planned activity; one does not just happen to take one’s hunting rifle when one is out for a stroll, just happen to flush ducks from their cover, and think, ‘Well, maybe I’ll take a crack at those!’ We must be aware that this may be the underlying state of the previously described conflict (in an earlier paragraph): that the conflict could in fact be one where one party seeks to ‘ambush’, take by surprise, or take advantage of the other. Duck hunting, we must acknowledge, doesn’t very often result in duck on the dinner table–it is instead much more considered, however inappropriately, ‘sport’, and there’s a good chance that if you find yourself as the stalkee, this could indeed be the attitude of the stalk-er. That will make it both very hard to make sense of things, and impossible to drag a reason for such aggression out of the stalk-er; feeling his or her power, they are unlikely to feel the need to justify their choice.

After the eclipse: What Now?

Did you feel it? The answer is probably yes and no–this eclipse is both particularly stimulating and elusive to conscious perception–and so we enter this eclipse period (active through to the next eclipse set, in six months) both excited (in a way I would almost describe as occurring at the molecular level!) and harboring a distinct sense of mystery about what’s to come (and what’s happening right now), a near-mystic state wherein each of us mentally and perceptually rests somewhere on a continuum between unconscious and confused all the way to centered and enlightened. This enlightenment is of a very specific kind, a knowing that does not involve words or concepts, but that is more of an emotional feeling and sensory feeling experience. It surrounds us, it is us, it envelopes us, and our ability to be at peace with this, a kind of inspiration (almost literally in the ancient sense of ‘to breathe in’) that is like standing deep in the Cosmic flow. Our comfort with this atmosphere is what’s in question over the next half-year, and we will need to ask ourselves, what will we do with this, what will we make of it?

What we see in the present, though, at least in terms of what it suggests about our future, is in one way or another misleading; this we must grapple with on our own. Some advice from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest:

With the Gemini/ Sagittarius axis energized at this time, it becomes especially important to sort what’s ‘real’ from the mass of information and possibilities included in what we think, what we’re told, what we believe, what Faith tells us is so, and what we learn or experience from our naturally limited, first-person viewpoint. This eclipse brings that challenge into focus, and requires only that we know who we are, in order to handle what comes successfully. To see ourselves as a Warrior for our own Will (which usually causes us so much trouble!) is precisely what is needed in order to remember who we are in the face of projections about where we’re headed that are misleading, that we misunderstand or misinterpret, or that we don’t experience at all (not seeing the shadow of the Lunar Sabian image).

Your Weekend 18-20 May 2012: ‘Take Shelter, Be Ready’

Pallas is instrumental in this Sunday’s eclipse effect. See it all in this week’s ECLIPSE! ‘Pallas Athena’ by Gustav Klimt {{PD-Art}}

All the following is excerpted from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest; imagine how much more you’d know if you subscribed! 🙂

For Friday the 18th of May:

The Moon entered Taurus at 3:04 AM PDT. A 1 PM PDT quincunx of the Moon to the North Node sets the tone: we will spend the transit of the Moon through Taurus adjusting, and we may find we have a higher than usual discomfort both emotionally and physically.

Remember that the Mars/ Pluto trine in Earth is still in effect; the urge to do and transform is still strong, and also carries a higher than average chance of pushing us to be overly assertive, or inadvertently destructive, in our attempts to make things happen.

For Saturday the 19th:

On the 19th we see the Sun oppose Juno, which naturally means the Earth conjuncts her. We are looking at the figurative center of the Universe (in terms of consciousness) in opposition to the very personal, individual need for empowerment and a feeling of significance. Those who choose to play ‘the center of the Universe’ will, besides being insufferable! also be oblivious to the true effects they’re having–they may see themselves as beaming goodness and light to the masses, while those around them suffer sunburn, dehydration, and squint in the glare of ego–while everyone else will be seeing things from too small and insecure a position to operate effectively. The key to handling this, and avoiding coming down on either side of the equation, may be to leave matters of power and influence to the side, for now. A low-key, modest approach is an appropriate way of operating during the Dark of the Moon; we don’t really have the energy to pursue power moves at this time, so responding actively to Sun/ Juno may frazzle us and lead exactly nowhere.

And for Sunday the 20th, the day of an Annular Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Gemini:

The eclipse/ New Moon (occurring at 4:46 PM PDT at 00 Gemini 20) inceptions focus through the image of the Wise Warrior, the anima with native intelligence, poise, mad practical skills, and the fearless martial poise of someone both well-armed (whether that’s figurative or literal) and wise. This persona accepts the role of wise guide for the Self or for others, applying the practical skills, knowledge, and the ripe wisdom of experience to negotiate events of the eclipse–and the entity takes this image on in response to someone (the Juno figure, which sits opposed the eclipse at 29 tense degrees of Scorpio) who is seeking empowerment or exerting authority, and it may be at our expense, or inappropriate to the relationship–

For much more on the eclipse Iincluding the Sabian analysis) and the upcoming week, please subscribe! May’s Special offers include 2 FREE months with a 6 month subscription (for a total of 8) or 1 FREE month with a 3 month subscription (for a total of 4). At only $5 per month it’s an inexpensive way to get detailed info on aspects, configurations, celestial events, and includes Lunar aspects explained for each and every day–Order Now!

Thank You, and have a great weekend!

Gemini Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse 10 December 2011: ‘The Game’

'Card Game' Rombouts {{PD-Art}}

The 10th sees a Total Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) at 18 Gemini 10 at 6:35 AM PST (with the eclipse following soon thereafter). Using our strict 2 degree orb, we have only two aspects, to Venus and Ceres, aside from the opposition to the Sun, but we’ll be adding a third in a bit (available in the newsletter)–first, let’s look at these strongly female-oriented energies as they connect to a ‘moment of completion’ involving a principle symbol of woman, the Moon. This suggests a culmination point of immense  power, as the Earth, balanced exactly between Moon and Sun in alignment, blocks the Sun from offering light to the Moon–and thus the Moon cannot perform her usual reflective function. She is prevented from her usual method of taking in animus light and shining it back into the Universe. Receptivity involves being open and willing to take in another’s assertive (animus) energy as one’s own; it’s a stance that requires a certain ability to put the Self to the side and use one’s own energy to support another–but what does the Moon do when she is not receiving the light of the dominant Sun?

Our clue is in the aspects this Full Moon/ eclipse makes; the energies it touches tell us the character the Full Moon will adopt when her typical way of relating is unavailable to her. The quincunx to Venus says that relationships, assets, or finances must be adjusted to the circumstances presented at the Full Moon; the square to Ceres says that authorities may be involved, but in particular, one’s own authority may be tested, perhaps in a contest between those ‘in charge’ and ourselves. But, when we consider that the Moon, a normally nurture and maternally focused energy, is in a tense situation with Ceres, a light bulb may go on: our maternal role, instincts, nurture function, or relationship to external maternal energies may present a conflict (the square) with another entity’s instinctive, maternal, or power role that is a culmination of some situation, likely long-brewing, over territory, responsibility, or influence. By removing, in a sense, the influence of the Solar orb, Moon/ Ceres energies that might typically be overshadowed by assertive ones can come out to play–if we can consider some serious sorting out of power positions a game!

All the above is from the newsletter. To see the material on that third, slightly larger orbed aspect, and to read about the Sabians for this Full Moon/ Eclipse, please subscribe, or try ECLIPSE by purchasing a single, current issue, which contains the Full Moon analysis, here–Thanks!

The Essence for the 1 July 2011 Solar Eclipse: A Diamond’s Potential

We start July off with, what else? That third eclipse! It’s a Solar (New Moon) eclipse, at 9 Cancer 12 on July 1st at 1:53 AM Pacific Time. As usual, we stick to a tight, 2 degree maximum orb–but are overruled by a compelling configuration.

Though it’s slightly outside our usual parameters, the fact that this is an eclipse begs for the inclusion of a Grand Cross, made up of the Sun/ Moon combination opposed Earth/ Pluto, squared by the Saturn/ Uranus opposition; no other bodies fall within our strict two degree, major aspect rule. What does this indicate?

The most obvious implication is that the eclipse kicks off a Cardinal Cross ‘crisis’–but crisis just means some combination of stress, opportunity, and action–the important part might be that, with the Sun/ Moon filling in the Cardinal T-square to a Grand Cross, it funnels the power and energy of an eclipse into an extant aspect–and possibly blows it up.

The most likely manifestation dynamic is this: the crisis will be set off by some matter of the House in the natal chart where the eclipse itself falls; this will in turn ‘light up’ the Cardinal T. In the most general terms, we are likely to see in our lives change to structures, rules, or boundaries and/ or partnerships that seemed permanent or permanently stuck in the present form, with the ‘revolution’ driven by a unique expression of Self-Will, or by the way the individual is compelled by the group.

The Sabian for the eclipse degree is: ‘A Large Diamond in the First Stages of the Cutting Process’ This suggests it’s either the start of a process that will bring forward some facet of ourselves we’ve never before known we possessed or it will bring forward a new matter (or life situation or structure, possibly in relationship) about which we will care in a major way (Cancer placement).
