The Essence for 20 April 2011: Burning Through Unintended Consequences

I liked this painting because the light is so bright and orange, the fire seems wild and out of control--even though it isn't. Bierstadt 1863 'The Oregon Trail'

8 PM Pacific sees the Moon sextile Saturn, quickly followed by the Moon sextile h.Zeus, trine Mercury, then trine Mars. We enter this period thinking we can hold back, control our actions, and keep to the status quo–wrong! Ambition and desire speak up (likely through aesthetics or relationships) and then we tell everything we know (or at least everything we thought we’d keep to ourselves), and it ends up lighting a different kind of fire under us: one that is fueled by a synchronization of the emotions, the intuition, and the action urge. Despite the way we may put our foot in it, it may still be a good time to act–as long as we are truly clear about what we want, and what the situation is–and unfortunately this is nearly impossible with the retrograde of Merc still hanging on. It’s a shame to waste the energy, though, so most of us may decide to act now and ask questions (or clean up the unintended consequences) later :)

The Essence for 19 April 2011: Unusual Dreams

'Dante's Dream at the Time of the Death of Beatrice' Rossetti 1871 {{PD-Art}}

Just before 2 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes the South Node, either making us wax nostalgic, or uncomfortable with things or people from the past. Either enjoy, or breathe through it–no need to respond. By 8:30 the Moon trines Venus–ah! a short period of harmony and peace (and maybe a little money or love!) 10 PM-ish Pacific the Moon quincunxes the Sun, now in the 29th degree of Aries. Tension, a sudden urge to act or to resolve a situation, may appear–and just so, it may have no resolution. As the Moon pulls away (11:34 PM PDT) the Void begins, with the Moon entering Sagittarius, 11:49 PM Pacific. The immediate square to Neptune may give unusual dreams, where we confront our illusions, the future, or our Muses–and though likely stressful, we gain invaluable knowledge as a result.

The Essence for 18 April 2011: Plain and Simple

Post 3 PM Pacific the Moon squares Pallas; what feels right won’t be right, and we’ll know it, and by 8 PM PDT the Moon’s quincunx to the Merc retro/ Mars conjunction will make it obvious–we’ll likely as not have chosen to act, speak, or ‘do’ against our better judgment, and we’ll be suffering the consequences–extra points to those who are able to refrain from the unwise compulsion, though the simultaneous semi-sextile to h.Zeus reveals that ambition and desires will drive our choices, plain and simple.

It’s almost cruel that the Void begins as the Moon pulls out of opposition, at 7:45 PM Pacific. We are all geared up by that big bright Libra Moon to love, to partner, and instead we are met with a feeling that our choices may be ineffective. The key is to avoid productivity–yes, you read that correctly–and instead enjoy life. The Moon enters Scorpio at 11:19 PM PDT–before then, have fun–because immediately the Moon will trine Neptune in Water, and we may have a flood of emotion, a wave of creativity, or while even more time away with our latest escape.

The Essence of the Libra Full Moon, 17 April 2011: Perfect Love

Since in my mind nature is Love, and a bridge a symbol of a way to connect, well, you get my drift. Larsson 'The Bridge' 1912 {{PD-Art}}

Full Moon at 7:43 PM of the 17th, Pacific time, at 27 Libra 44. Using our usual, strict 2 degree orb we have only a single aspect, a quincunx of the Libra Full Moon to Libra ruler Venus in Pisces. Venus is exalted in Pisces, suggesting that perfect Love is synonymous with a state of Oneness, with the Universal outlook. This implies that wherever the Full Moon falls for you, the matters of this House must be examined with an eye to adjusting (the quincunx) the attitudes, relationships, and approaches so that they better express your idea of ‘perfect love.’ This is well-shown by the Sabian symbol for the Full Moon placement ‘A Man Becoming Aware of Spiritual Forces Surrounding and Assisting Him’ By Man, of course, we mean each human individual, and by spiritual forces, we mean Love, for what else is this but an essence that permeates all, surrounding and ‘assisting,’ if only by putting each on a wavelength attuned to the very force that drives the Universe?

The Essence for 15 April 2011: Don’t Blow It Up

Admiral Blandy and wife cutting a mushroom cloud cake, 1946, apparently before they knew how bad this is {{PD}}

Just before 5 AM Pacific the Moon quincunxes Jupiter, blowing up our emotions (like a balloon? like dynamite? like a festive handshake?) We may feel very critical of someone else’s outreach, what they’re broadcasting or publishing, as this may feel to us like they’re busy reveling in their giant ego–and maybe they are, what’s it to you? Let go of the need to critique or assign others an emotional outlook, and take in some of that Self-lovin’ largesse represented by Jupiter, and make that ego-boost your own.

Noon-ish PDT the Moon opposes Venus–and if you weren’t willing and able to embrace a little Jupiter earlier, you may have another episode of jealousy or envy or may condemn another for venalism, when you’re really the one counting and accounting, and declaring others ‘bankrupt’ in some important way. Self-love is really the issue here–and the more kindness and acceptance you show for yourself, the less you’ll experience these less-than-pleasant effects–and if you do experience them, it just signals a need to let love in–please :)

The Essence for 14 April 2011: Moody, With a Chance of Confrontation

Maybe staying a little bit apart is the way to go today. Pieter Janssens Elinga c.1660 {{PD-Art}}

11 AM PDT the Moon trines Pluto–we can do emotional housecleaning efficiently and effectively–and if we’re looking to change our feelings about someone or something, this is the time when it can be easily accomplished (providing we really do want to change!) An opposition of the Moon to Ceres swings into view around 12:30 PM PDT, and our intuitive or emotional perception may confront or be confronted by authorities of one kind or another, or we may be challenged by the need to negotiate–and we may not be in the mood :) Moon quincunx Mars at 2:30 PM-ish may bleed over into the Ceres contact and make us very aggressive when those authorities get in our faces (for that’s what it will feel like, as if they’re aggressing); then we will be determined to assert ourselves, whether that makes sense or not and whether that is appropriate or not–so if we can channel our energy before noon Pacific we will likely be involved in productive efforts and skip the stress and potential hurt and drama.

The Essence for 13 April 2011: Hot, Salty Communication Freedom (+ Added Material)

JL Kimmel '4th of July in Philadelphia' {{PD-Art}} via Wikimedia Commons

1:30 AM PDT of the 13th the Moon trines retro Mercury, Fire to Fire. It may be easy to speak passionately–just remember that Jupiter is still relatively close to Merc, and may cause us to overdo or grossly exaggerate. Speak your truth, show your passion, but don’t add that extra flourish, if tempted–it could be something you’d like to erase from memory and the ether, later! A 4 AM PDT trine to Jupiter really tests our Self-control, especially in the social sphere–but may also function to ‘get the word out,’ and allow for hot, salty communication freedom!

7 AM Pacific the Leo Moon quincunxes Venus in Pisces; we may be very hard on ourselves as we try to measure up to the ideal of Love (this may give a taste of what’s to come with the Full Moon–see current newsletter #5). Harsh judgment of the Self isn’t necessary; Leo Moon, plus all those energies in Aries (Uranus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Sun) all say that Self-awareness and conscious attention to personal needs should be capturing a large portion of our thought and effort right now.

ADDED: Thought this was important enough to add: The Moon enters Virgo at 11:40 PM Pacific–and shifts our thinking just a little bit toward the details, who’s responsible for what, and what we might get for our efforts. Immediately on entry the Moon opposes Neptune–with both entities at 00 of their respective signs, we may confront the dream with the emotional reality–and one or the other is likely to come up lacking. Since this opposition kicks off the Moon’s transit of Virgo, Neptune’s dreamy, confusing fogginess will linger–we may be struggling to stay ‘awake,’ completely puzzled by any number of issues, or subject to the weaving of stories and illusion–so take care.

The Essence for 12 April 2011: Finding a Leonine Balance

Allégorie de la République espagnole (1931-1939) The Leo Moon can help you roar--just remember to balance and tame the urge. Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported via Wikimedia Commons

Just before 9 AM Pacific the Moon becomes the apex planet to a Finger of God with base of Pluto sextile Ceres. This is about achieving a ‘balance of power’ in a very yin/ yang sort of way. Masculine/ Feminine figure in, as might outright expressions of power and the option (or obligation) to negotiate. Once the balance is reached, the energy funnels down through that Leo Moon–making for an enormously confident display of the Self, possibly with emotions or intuition on display, or one’s Self-assertion/ expression plays on the emotions of others. Can be a breakthrough moment of impressive ego presentation and Self-promotion, likely in a very positive way–but remember, it all depends on getting that power balance right.
