Paul Klee - 'Oh! These Rumors!' 1939 {{PD}}

Paul Klee – ‘Oh! These Rumors!’ 1939 {{PD}}

If you’ve been reading that we have a series of three eclipses coming up, the first mid-August, that’s incorrect; what we have at that point is a near miss, alignment-wise, that appeared to be an eclipse initially, but has since been re-calculated as just a hair off. With even a near event, though, we may feel it, like when a big truck blows by you as you stand on the sidewalk; you don’t actually get sucked off the pavement, but for just a second, you feel a kind of lift and it seems you might! Especially if you have placements at or the eclipse makes hard contacts from its spot at 25 Aquarius 51, this Full Moon may have the impact of an eclipse, ‘wiping out’ something currently in force; look too for a significant shift in the House that holds Aquarius or with the Waterbearer on the cusp.

The AstroEssence: rumors abound, information is strangely hurtful, and yet what you hear is not telling you anything you don’t already know in the relationship or financial department. There’s a bias toward what the social circle believes and wants you to believe; advantages come to those who propagate the party line, no matter how unfair that seems to the free-thinker. Everybody’s too concerned with their own idea of who they are, and Self-promotion runs through anything that’s not strictly about the facts. Accept as evidentiary only what is provided with concrete details or real-world circumstances to back it up. Opinions don’t matter; what’s real does. Let go of your preconceived notions and prejudices, or you’ll end up becoming the victim of them (Mercury sesq Chiron, trine Saturn, nov Jupiter, and parallel Venus, Sun parallel Vesta and sesq Neptune)

Today’s word image is a scrub brush and some cleanser. Ouch! Such harsh cleaning methods aren’t often called for, but there may be something that needs a thorough scouring, and this may be physical, mental, spiritual, emotional. We need to be real; whatever it is has become so completely sullied that we have to clear away the detritus and bare the core issue, unadorned, for re-evaluation, re-assessment, or to make it usable once again.

For those born with the Sun at 26 Cancer: as you enter a new Solar year you’re going strong, sailing on the impetus of some effective moves and choices, some clear instincts, and a faithfulness to values that has kept you on course. What you must deal with now are matters of delusion vs. reality, and the capacity to birth your dreams into the world. A practical orientation serves you, as does a realistic attitude that makes you willing to eliminate what no longer serves. Good luck, and Happy Birthday, Cancer!

17 July 2016 A Mandate to Heal

‘Glittering Sea’ Hiroshi Yoshida 1925 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: We’ve been immersed in a great deal of healing energy for a few days now, and if you haven’t availed yourself of it then you’ve almost certainly found yourself, intentionally or not, lashing out, hyper-sensitive to some perceived hurt. The keyword here is ‘perceived’; all that sensitivity, that understanding of where to apply something soothing, unless directed at flesh or spirit in need of healing, sits on the psychic skin like a rash, irritating us until we reach our limit. Things we’ve been ignoring in relationship or finances are the most likely catalysts; awareness that our thinking is off, in terms of real-world perception, is vital to responding in the most effective way. To review: efforts toward healing, guided by values and instinct rather than circumstances, are the best way to handle this over-stimulating influence (Mars trine Chiron, Venus sq Black Moon Lilith and nov Vesta, Saturn contra-parallel Mercury and sesq the Sun, Sun sxt Sedna)

Today’s word image is two unripe apples plucked prematurely from the tree. This is an obvious and somewhat suggestive symbol of having ‘harvested’ something before it was ready (we’re far too quick to associate an apple with sin, aren’t we?) The number two implies cooperation–and are we ever ‘willing’ before we’re truly ‘ready’? What are you feeling impatient over? And is it too late to stop yourself from taking (or taking advantage of) something that really needs more time to develop?

For those born with the Sun at 25 Cancer: recent times have been busy, and the pace won’t slow anytime soon. There’s demand over the coming Solar year (through to your next birthday) for you to demonstrate your unique gifts and a requirement that you step up to mend a long-time rift or wound; don’t put this off, as it’s a vital part of both honing your instincts and honoring your values. Expect an emotional shift partway through the year that will make you more restrained, more contained. Happy Birthday, Cancer!

Paul Gauguin - Te arii vahine (The Queen of Beauty or The Noble Queen) 1897 {{PD}}

Paul Gauguin – Te arii vahine (The Queen of Beauty or The Noble Queen) 1897 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: The mind is in excellent working order, aligned with our highest values and with all loving relationships–with the latter suggesting discord reveals where love is lacking–and the issue may be that though thoughts run along noble lines, they lack connection to what’s practical, what’s been ignored or denied, and most importantly, what’s truly smart. We could follow our ideals into a logistical abyss, unless we are careful to draw lines from A to B–and then follow them.

We also see action and choice that by its very nature heals, and though this is prompted by emotion and intuition, we can thank our mental faculties for coordinating our efforts along the most effective lines.

Note that the Sun square to Uranus and contra-parallel Pluto will in essence shine a spotlight on those Uranus-Pluto issues that have been plaguing us for some time. Look for sudden events or abrupt episodes of ‘enlightenment’ that are distinctly Plutonian in undertone. The Sun may blind us, at first, to our best response, but a little reflection on past struggles of this nature will reveal what we should do (Mercury and Venus conjoin to qnx Pallas, nov Vesta, sq Black Moon Lilith, with Merc also parallel Vesta, the Sun, Mars, and Chiron form a Water Grand Trine, with the Sun also sq Uranus and contra-parallel Pluto)

Nymphicus_hollandicus_1876Today’s word image is a cockatiel. When I think of these birds I think of how smart they are, and how much they like to interact, but also how high-strung; they can develop nervous habits in captivity like pulling out their own feathers–which brings us to the question of, Should we be keeping these animals in cages at all? As a symbol this may speak to some part of ourselves that may be hyper-reactive in social situations, that may fret when we would do better to be free in our actions. Look for some way in which you may repress yourself, creating (unnecessary) tension and stress as a result.

For those born with the Sun at 24 Cancer: you may have an emotion-driven Solar year ahead, through to your next birthday, when you will be empowered to heal long-standing hurts. Doing so may bring resistance from the group; it’s inevitable that as you change, the dynamic will change. Embrace what’s most unique about yourself, and know that honoring your need to explore, to learn, and to share what you discover will help you create the future you really want, with or without group approval. Happy Birthday, Cancer!

A gorgeous photo of Pluto, just because. Thanks, NASA! {{PD}}

. . .but being disconnected is a good thing, in this case: it allows us to embrace optimism and look toward the future–which is where our attention needs to be. It allows us to ignore reality and darker matters, and to do so safely, just for now. Don’t worry about the negatives, and don’t listen to the social sphere–take ‘facts’ with the skepticism they deserve–go forth with a sense of accountability, enthusiasm for the details and responsibilities, with discernment that does not devolve into criticism, with an eye to the eventual ‘harvest’, and you’ll have an exceptionally productive and satisfying day (Venus contra-parallel Saturn, nov NN, semi-sq Jupiter, Merc semi-sq Jupiter but not yet perfecting conjunction to Venus, also Merc nov NN and contra-parallel Pluto)

Today’s word image is an apron. Is it a symbol of servitude or of service? It all depends on your attitude.

I’ve decided to reinstate ‘Born Today’ with a daily, very brief description for each degree of the Sun roughly corresponding to the current calendar day; today it’s 23 Cancer:

Olaus Magnus 1555 {{PD}}

Those born with the Sun at 23 Cancer may find they have an emotional year ahead, one where surprises prevail and energy soars. Willfulness, action, and difficult choices may define your next trip around the Sun; will you use your sensitivity and spark to hurt or heal? Both are within your power.

Artist be trippin’. Our Lady of “The Most Bright Star” 1700 Photo by A.I. Kazantsev {{PD}}

The mind is ‘bright’ today, in some fundamental way that separates it from the ego and the Will–and so allows us to consider things in an unusually objective light. Objective, that is, if we are not trying to run an agenda for our own gratification or empowerment; if we are, we’ll likely convince ourselves our reasoning is sound. The test? Are our thoughts focused on making someone else do or react as we like? If so, we’re not on an impartial course.

But most of us will be aligned with our highest values, with relationships and finances benefiting from this, as well as bringing about a ‘mental health’ state that is strongly centered in facets of our ‘Best Self’. Barring any contrary transits to a personal natal placement, the overall effect should be one of extraordinary insight and the chance to judge our circumstances accurately, and to make especially clear-sighted plans, that are faithful to those matters, situations, causes, and individuals that matter most. Good day for: mending interactions with the mate, choosing investments, and assessing relationships in ways that reveal their sacred nature (or their lack of it) (Venus parallel Vesta, Mercury sxt Hygeia, sq Juno, contra-parallel Mars, and parallel the Sun, which is contra-parallel Mars)

13 July 2016 Empowerment Via Reality

Caspar David Friedrich 1809 {{PD}}

Caspar David Friedrich 1809 {{PD}}

Our own inner wisdom and practicality make us acutely aware of matters hidden, ignored, denied, or that enrage, and yet we also know that to dig up the past or what’s already been will prevent not just healing, it will distance us from our own values, making personal navigation exceptionally difficult. We don’t feel good turning away from what needs to come to light, and we know that empowerment comes directly from dealing with reality, with ‘what is’ in its most concrete terms–but being too aggressive, even in pursuit of reform, will have the unfortunate effect of making us just ‘one of the mob’, even if we’re just a mob of one. All that makes us unique, original, special in our own way is temporarily erased when we indulge our sense of righteous anger. A little humility, along with the strength to question whether we actually do know better, will go a long way toward helping us form an accurate picture of who and where we are, and so help us know what we can do and be most effectively (Pallas trine Black Moon Lilith, Chiron sq Vesta, Saturn nov Juno, Mars qnx Uranus, Merc sesq SN, sq Ceres, then enters Leo)

Today’s word image is a man holding two leashes, and no dogs. Are we getting ahead of ourselves, somehow, ambitious to equip ourselves for what hasn’t yet occurred? There’s being prepared, and then there’s doing something so far ahead of developments that it becomes nonsensical. Make sure you’re not trying to rush something that, one way or another, needs more time.

Vincent van Gogh – ‘Starry Night Over the Rhone’ 1887 {{PD}}

Today we are challenged, one way or another, to assess our desires: how healthy are they? how empowering? how close to our ideals? how wise? We may inherently reject the need for change, or those inevitable developments we can do nothing about–but, we would be wise to embrace, if not the actual change, then the need for it, along with that need to look again at what and where we are. Change that follows guidelines of values and honors what we truly care about is vital to our well-being; so is being willing to commit resources to promoting health and nurturing autonomy. Thoughts are confusing, and what’s wise isn’t necessarily clear (though it certainly feels like it should be!) Be willing to question yourself, your aims, and to re-evaluate them in terms of what matters–this is the only approach that will truly work (Uranus sxt Vesta, Venus sxt Hygeia, sq Juno, and contra-parallel Pluto, Merc sesq Neptune, Sun sesq Pallas)

Today’s word image is a paper cup of water. Water is Life, the material of baptism, something we can’t live without but will die from if we become immersed in for long. This symbol may be a signal to appreciate the basics, the very elements that make up our world, and to respect them, and the way they support our more complex Being, making possible a life beyond mere survival. This might also be an invitation to ‘contain emotion’ in some way that allows us to ‘take it in’, to use it and make it part of ourselves, to make it a supportive component, rather than being overcome by it.

Moon in Libra, then Scorpio (a Water sign, at 8:52 PM PDT), applies to our Water imagery; if you’re so inclined, you can support clean water for all here, or here (both check out through Charity Navigator)

Enjoy your Tuesday!

The good news is thoughts, ideas, and communications are healing–don’t keep kindness to yourself, as sharing will actually be a salve to others–instincts can guide where and when to apply–and the matters of the Houses of the natal chart ruled by Mercury can be ‘put right’ at this time, with sudden ideas or an unexpected ‘coming together’ of info adding illumination, though radical or abrupt changes to what already is won’t be supported, and neither will messages centered on change or rebellion–we just won’t hear those and be moved, as we might otherwise be. So, energy expression should go toward making the world a better place, especially intellectually or conceptually, with a generous helping of Love for ourselves the foundation (Venus enters Leo, after spending the day in a ‘crisis of caring’ at 29 degrees Cancer).

Now the more difficult circumstances: an underlying discord between opposing or complementary entities (male-female, positive-negative, yin-yang) prevents smooth coordination or any chance of working together for very long. We may be perceiving the reality picture as a rough one, and could use the unity, use the help–but past frictions are making true cooperation impossible at this moment. Give it some time–each person has to work through that sticking point, likely a mental one, that’s inhibiting real teamwork–and accept that we have our own impediments to cooperation, too–it’s not just the other guy. Now is not the time to push for big change; we’d do best to get our own thoughts into some kind of objective, and very patient, order (Venus contra-parallel Mars and sesq SN, Mercury sq Uranus, trine Chiron, sesq Saturn, and sxt Sedna)

Today’s word image is an open purse. This is figurative, of course; ‘currency’ comes in many forms. ‘Generosity’ is a keyword; so is consciousness of (rather than judgment of) worth. Share in appreciation, not out of obligation; the positive effects of paying attention to and ‘promoting’ what we find of worth (no matter what form it takes) are amplified at this time. It’s a situation of ‘what we send out we get back’, very quickly, at this point in time. Experiment (says my Aquarius Ascendant!) and you’ll see this almost instantly at work.

Many thanks to those who’ve been so generous with me–your spirit inspired the daily image! And everyone, have a great start to your week!

‘Rue de Paris, temps de pluie’ Gustave Caillebotte 1876 {{PD}}

Interactions today are based on instincts, with the goal, conscious or not, of the need to wound or heal others or ourselves (contradictory and varied intents are to be expected), and we follow our internal prompts in spite of difficulties thrown in our way by circumstances, ‘the rules’, or authority figures. Those in power are bent on pointing out to us what’s wrong with what we want or aspire to, but we are thinking big, and can use mental faculties to tap into faith or opportunity (which is dictated by where your idols lie) and use it as propulsion forward. One warning: be very clear in the differences among thought, feeling, instinct, and desire–it’s easy to confuse them, especially when we want something so much we justify it as instinctual, rather than a choice–instincts, and opportunities shown us by the mind, are what we should be following today (Venus sxt Sedna, sesq Saturn, and trine Chiron, Mercury sxt Jupiter, Sun sq Zeus)

Today’s word image is an outdoor concert in the rain. Are you the kind of person who would see this as an adventure, an inconvenience, or an insult, feeling the concert would be ruined? Can you enjoy something as much when it doesn’t go as planned as you do when it does? Do you take such developments personally, or do you see them as just part of living? We may do well to widen our parameters for accepting and enjoying the unexpected; in our symbol, we see a chance to appreciate two sensations, two senses, at once.

Relationships or finances could offer nasty surprises, the unexpected could cost us, and what we care about or our values could be challenged by modern advances or a ‘forward thinking’ stance we’re not ready for, while innovations could, at least initially, spark conflict or take an undue toll. What arises may blindside us, not least because we may have been living too much in our own heads, listening to a tape loop that reinforces what we already think; we missed some shouted warnings, threats, and/ or outright promises concerning change, specifically the way our ambitions and goals need to be modified for continued viability. There is also the matter of those in authority (or those who think they hold it) becoming secretive or ‘going negative’ in some way, in an attempt to hold on to power. If we can get outside our own heads and get some perspective, we’ll do fine–doing that means all those things that arrive as shocks or surprises to others don’t surprise us at all. Those able to be most objective and least Self-involved win (Sun-Merc opp Pluto and sq Zeus, Venus sq Uranus, Juno enters Scorpio)

Today’s word image is a shoe. What kind of shoe do you see? Use the very first image that pops into your mind. Shoes are quite literally a form of foundation; the characteristics of the shoe you imagine should tell you a little something about the current state of your psychic, social, and spiritual foundation, with a willingness to interpret the information symbolically opening the way to effective ‘repairs’.
