‘Woman Reading a Letter’ 1660-1662 Gerard ter Borch {{PD}}

The Full Moon occurs at 10:19 AM PST at 3 Virgo 33. A Full Moon is an ending, a culmination of what came before both in the passage of time and in the emotional history, and signals a conclusion, especially a conclusion of feeling based in the Moon (emotions) reaching a point of maximum visibility. We tend to see the point of things, to realize that the situation is complete, over, no longer viable. And we let it go, or we allow the conclusions reached to fuel change.

This Full Moon is semi-square Zeus, yet too wide for us to count a quincunx with Venus, though we might need to count the exceptionally wide (for a Moon event) opposition of the Moon-Earth to Sun-Neptune-Ceres, with the latter two only 29 minutes apart at 9 Pisces. The mild but noticeable contact to Zeus implies that ambitions or the desire nature are receiving some sort of answer, with FM events pointing to an end place for something we want–and of course, this can be because we get it, or because we don’t, and see that it will never be ours.

The Moon-Sun complex suggests this: what has pushed us forward has been some combination of creative energy, delusion, lies, spiritual quest, ideals, power needs, authority issues, a search to establish territory, and the desire to control. These have formed the fait accompli we see with the Full Moon, with its Virgo location suggesting practical results, an accounting, and/ or a harvest.

The FM Sabian is, ‘Black And White Children Play Together Happily’, clearly a suggestion that the FM brings a state of integration, harmony, balance, parity. Whether this is internal or external for you depends generally on whether the FM falls below the horizon (internal) or above the horizon (external) in the natal chart.

For a Full Moon we also look at the Sun’s Sabian, as the Sun is, after all, the symbolic source for the energy that creates FM circumstances (as well as the literal agent of light): ‘Heavy Car Traffic On A Narrow Isthmus Linking Two Seashore Resorts’ This again brings forward the idea of happiness or play (the resorts), linked by movement between them (a kind of sharing of like material, symbolized by the people we can assume are traveling in the cars). The idea may be that it’s in making the effort to get together in the first place that the two opposing or disparate elements (symbolized by the Black and White Children) find a way to happily interact, and pinpoint commonalities.

The star of the show, however, is a loose Fist of God (or Thor’s Hammer, for the Nordic enthusiasts among us) that names the FM apex with a base of long-term on again, off again Cardinal square Pluto-Uranus. This square has been analyzed to death, and though it takes a particular form for each individual, we can say this: the forces of individuality and/ or the group in relation to the individual, and facets of uniqueness, originality, and rebellion are awakened in service to the individual Will or identity (Aries), and clash with, not the need for change, but the actual changes themselves (a fine point, but an important one) in any and all structures, rules, and boundaries related to Capricorn and the House containing transiting Pluto, as well as the House it rules natally, in the chart.

So, it’s the changes that the individual responds to that go on to create even further change, new rules, new boundaries, new structures, that help shape the individuality and allow harmonious interaction with factors from which one once remained separate, and the Full Moon events comment on this: we see some conclusion related to integration of disparate elements that’s either practical, draws criticism, or in either positive or negative form is a kind of ‘harvest’ (which is simply the result of what’s been ‘planted’ previously). This Full Moon may reveal what we have constructed from our own unique sensibilities in response to changes in the rules and structures within which we normally function. We have made it work, as Mr. Gunn says, though it hasn’t been easy (or perhaps not–we may simply take a pounding–the Fist); but with this FM event we get an answer that acts as a conclusion: to a dream, to a lie, to a desire, and from there we must determine our next step.

The 22nd Pallas enters Aquarius and, especially while Merc remains retro, we may convince ourselves that every thought is an informed or wise one; au contraire, mon ami, it’s just not so. We may discount our own strength in a situation, even as we treat our wounds as sacred, to be honored rather than healed. This leads to some heavy forms of communication, destructive in some instances, transformative in others. The results all depend on what we really want to change and what we truly care for, deep inside (Vesta parallel Chiron and semi-sq Ceres, Merc conj Pluto)

The 23rd we feel a strong pull into the future, a forward-looking optimism that has practical values and a sense of personal responsibility at its root. We are in a position to understand our minds and our thinking clearly, though not in a position to act on the fairly objective picture we have; we are too damaged by, or perhaps fearful of, further hurt to choose an effective course (Jupiter conj NN, Venus into Capricorn, Merc parallel Ceres, Sun parallel Merc and semi-sq Chiron)

The Full Moon in Leo arrives at 5:46 PM Pacific time at 3 Leo 29. The closest aspect this FM makes is a sesquiquadrate to Chiron; it also opposes Pallas, and takes what amounts to a very wide swipe by quincunx (and so essentially misses) Venus fresh in Cappy (and it’s that newness to the sign that may make Venus more susceptible than usual). This suggests that the Full Moon brings an end, through difficult circumstances, to some unwise, ego-driven hurt that we’ve clung to too long. We have compromised both our values and our ability to heal this insult by willingly resuscitating it; now we have the chance to let it go, once and for all.

‘A Formally Dressed Elderly Man Stands Near Trophies He Brought Back From A Hunting Expedition’ This Full Moon Sabian says that what must be let go is something from the past, something we have collected and cherished (in our own way–the trophies), and we receive a hint that what we are called to let go resulted from our own aggression–but the circumstances that ‘earned’ them are no more, so that our energy is better focused in the now, and in what’s to come, than it is dwelling on the past (and that’s no matter how recently this past has been). It’s important to note that the ‘trophies’ the image refers to, at least in a hunting context, are actually living things pursued and killed, rather than the metal cups and plaques we nowadays typically label ‘trophies’, and this suggests the entire concept of pursuing and laying aggressive claim to the life energy (in whatever form) of another living thing is past its time. We ‘age’ ourselves when we cling to what was, whether it was a glory or a debacle–this Full Moon will show us that, and offer a letting-go opportunity.

For another take on the Full Moon, see Lua Astrology–

The 24th we set out to honor the reality picture, to deal with circumstances as they are, and to dedicate our energy and efforts to building knowledge, to reaching out, to discovering (Saturn in Sagittarius), but what’s been denied, hidden, ignored, or has enraged us at some point surfaces again and prompts rebellion, erratic reactions, or pushes us forward to a point where our response is totally original (at least within our typical lexicon of behavior). The fact is we can’t deal with the reality picture in any effective way if we are wearing a lens of anger or denial; that distorts our vision and automatically means our choices will not be the best we could make. Accept that the issue must be dealt with, and be thankful you were given the chance to handle it, rather than allowed to go ahead and make a muddle of things (Saturn trine Vesta, Uranus opp Black Moon Lilith)

The 25th we find a way to express our Will through our current status or empowerment situation–and isn’t that what we always seek? Be aware that, if you’re dealing with less-conscious others, your competence may attract some aggression–but pay it no mind (Mars conj Juno) We also have Mercury direct today. He turns around just shy of the middle of Capricorn, so if you have placements halfway through the Cardinals you can expect a certain amount of news or communication urgency related to the contacted natal energy–probably somebody (maybe you!) is trying to ‘nail it down’. First thing our valiant messenger contacts (not counting hits to Merc from the Moon) is Pluto, by 30 January; this may be the point when we get the ‘down and dirty’ that happened during the retro period but which somehow remained hidden, until now.

Have a lovely weekend!

'Canoe and Star' c1920 Arman Manookian {{PD}}

‘Canoe and Star’ c1920 Arman Manookian {{PD}}

The Full Moon occurs at 3:11 AM PST at 3 Cancer 19, with Vesta creating a T-square to the Sun-Earth-Moon axis, the FM in sesquiquadrate to Ceres, and with generous orbs the FM forms a Water Grand Trine with Neptune and Juno. A Full Moon, of course, concludes, brings to culmination, fruition, or end, completes, or designates a point when situations or circumstances cannot go on as they have, in effect taking a new tack or making it clear there’s no future in the current direction. We must always remain aware of the beginnings in endings, and the endings inevitably present in beginnings–a Full Moon brings a point such as this, without confining us to any particular form for the results.

The T-square puts us on notice that the highest values, the home situation, and/ or the situation with the mate will undergo a ‘stress test’–but this isn’t necessarily something that creates a tense mood or conflict. Rather, it’s a circumstance, situation, or event that brings into sharp focus the ways our actual behaviors or choices may conflict with what we find sacred, revere, or honor. It’s a chance to see clearly and bring to an end something that keeps us from truly honoring what we find important, or that keeps us from living our values–and it very likely involves something we care deeply for or about, or something that we nurture or see as our responsibility to protect and ‘grow’ (Cancer Full Moon). The contact to Ceres only reinforces this, probably pointing out how the pitfalls of holding or pursuing power, or of having it in an ‘overseer’ or parental relationship, creates difficulties which, with their acknowledgment, can be concluded at this Full Moon.

The Water Grand Trine is reassuring, telling us that balance can and will be achieved (but keep in mind, if we don’t willingly bring about a just measuring of circumstances and privileges, Nature, that is, Ceres, will do it for us!) Emotional clarity can be the result of judicious application of both ideals (especially spiritual ones) and exercise of empowerment through one’s ‘right status’. That is, using one’s current position and abilities to affect circumstances and change, and aligning this with the spiritual ideals, will offer a satisfying conclusion to a situation that may have been emotionally abrasive, that could’ve kept us off-balance, and that likely is the same situation that offers the ‘stress test’ through pointing out dissonance we’ve been living with but not noticing or possibly ignoring–and the Full Moon allows us to end that dissonant state.

The Sabian Symbol describes something telling for this Full Moon: ‘A Cat Arguing With A Mouse’. This suggests that whatever circumstance needs to come to an end, or whatever dissonance needs harmonizing, is something we may be generating ourselves, by taking a ludicrous position. The Water Grand Trine may also describe this pre-harmonized state, as our response to the empowerment situation is based on fantasy or misconception, rather than reality. In effect this says we have been operating under some untrue ideas about our own power position or ability to affect things, and the tension undergone at the Full Moon will show us exactly how much we really do hold the power, after all. It gives us the opportunity to align action (Cardinal placement) with ideals and express these through a more accurate understanding of our own power place in the Universe (Juno).

We typically also look at the Sun Sabian for a Full Moon, as this is the ‘source material’ for what we’re dealing with now. It is, ‘A Group Of People Outfitting A Large Canoe At The Start Of A Journey By Water’. This may imply that the emotional attitude that needs balancing and healing is one we received from the family/ group; we were outfitted with this emotional equipment early in life or in the project that brought us together (at the start of the journey), and now it needs modifying, so that our expressions accurately reflect our true position. We will no longer be the cat arguing with the mouse; that is, we will no longer fail to perceive the true power balance, or the true situation–and that will make all the difference.

The Full Moon ‘message’ is in line with the aspect situation for the 25th, with the added caveats that the social order may run mostly on hidden or ignored material (Jupiter contra-parallel Black Moon Lilith), so be prepared, and that instincts and ‘blind spot’ material will not aid smooth relationship or financial dynamics (Venus opposed Sedna)–so being aware that statements and beliefs won’t necessarily make ‘surface sense’, and that there’s too much roiling around beneath consciousness in relationship or financial matters will help us navigate what could be a rocky day. Knowing this, though, should predispose us to put our internal energy toward that Full Moon realization and re-making of our own power and position awareness, while in the social sphere we concentrate on sharing good feeling and leaving heavy relationship or financial matters for another day.

If you celebrate at this time, I wish you all the best in life–and if you don’t, I wish you the same!

Viktor Vasnetsov 'Snegurochka' 1898 {{PD}}

Viktor Vasnetsov ‘Snegurochka’ 1898 {{PD}}

Today our words and actions have the full faith and credit of our personal power behind them–and that means we’re only effective to the extent we’ve become, to paraphrase Carl Rogers, our potentialities. How well we have actualized what could be within us will determine our impact on others and our surroundings at this point in time. Any empowerment we’ve achieved pays off; and strangely enough, what’s smart may be to ignore those things we want to avoid or that make us angry (Mercury sextile Ceres and Mars, Venus parallel Juno, Pallas contraparallel Black Moon Lilith).

The Full Moon of the 25th is at 2:44 Pacific time (PST) at 3 Gemini 20, and in order to see the sweep of the Full Moon energies we have to allow a larger orb relative to what we usually do; that makes for a FM that’s part of an Air Grand Trine with Mars and Ceres, and that involves the FM in a T-square with the Sun-Saturn-Mercury conjunction (with the latter drawn in by contact to Saturn), with an arm made by Neptune, and a sesquiquadrate to Zeus.

In Gemini a Full Moon speaks of completion of thought, ideas, communications, or movement of some kind, generally focused in matters of the House where the culmination falls. We either see the matter fully formed, or we see it end, and in either case, the Gemini FM opens the way for the ‘next step’ mentally. The Air Grand Trine reinforces this and elaborates upon it: what comes is a balanced view of action and power. We see what our efforts have wrought, and how we need to adjust the action-power balance to get what we’re thinking about/ desiring (and this brings up the very important point, that what we think about, whether we acknowledge it or not, is what we ultimately are aiming for–no matter what we believe our goals really are). This Full Moon reminds us of this, as well as the fact that we are required to both express our power and to make an effort in order to achieve.

The T-square is a kind of reiteration of the GT/ FM message, with a further answer as to outlet: we see the material results of our thoughts, our Beingness (Sun-Mercury)–they have indeed created our reality (Saturn)–and we’re offered a way to release the tension through a purely creative act (Neptune), likely through matters of the House where Neptune is now transiting, or through the House where it sits natally.

Let’s start with the Sabian for the Sun: ‘A Little Child Learning To Walk With The Encouragement Of His Parents’ This suggests that what ends for us is a static state, or at least one where we were not as empowered as we now can become; we’re now capable of taking our first steps in a new direction, one that has a purpose integral to our expression (of which walking is symbolic). The Sun’s Sabian at a Full Moon is indicative of the energy that caused, created, or preceded the Full Moon situation–so this FM is a point where we are ready to move forward in some important way.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘Holly And Mistletoe Reawaken Old Memories Of Christmas’ This hints that sensory input (through the nerves, memory, and lungs, all Gemini) will transport us to a previous ‘season’–not necessarily a winter one, but certainly, something invested with a distinctive atmosphere that makes for distinctive recall. Those memories will inform both what concludes or culminates right now, and what we take as a next step; what we remember may urge us to recreate that atmosphere, to figuratively re-visit a time and place, or at least to evoke it, in the now–and of course the question to ask ourselves is, ‘What is it that I want to bring back, re-live, or re-create?’ We know that’s probably a feeling–name that, and you’ll know what you’re aiming for.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

The Full Moon arrives at 5:04 AM PDT of the 27th at 3 Taurus 44. Keeping our usual tight orbs, we see the FM quincunx Saturn and sesquiquadrate both Mars and Venus, form a very wide sextile to Neptune–and with generous orbs we might stretch to a square to Ceres, and semi-square to Chiron. Full Moons mark culminations, endings, denouements, conclusive ‘next steps’, and often delineate the farthest we can go with a matter, at least for now. Here the thrust is likely a material or asset-related one (Taurus), shaped by the natal House into which the FM falls, and all the aspects made suggest struggle, conflict, or at least awkwardness or discomfort, with the Neptune contact either offering escape (through distraction, substances, or deception/ delusion) or spiritual or creative ‘answers’ to what comes forward.

The real world/ reality picture will call for adjustments, and significant power struggles may ensue. Man/ woman matters, issues involving expression of Will and choice, values, concern with asset use, and/ or relationships foster the most disharmony, with minor wounds inflicted. The Sabian symbol is, ‘The Pot Of Gold At The End Of The Rainbow’. This tells us that no matter how difficult, obstructive, or ruthless the circumstances we’ll face, there is a great deal to be gained from continuing in this direction and dealing with what comes. So, this FM may designate a tipping or turning point, one where power issues are sorted out and the balance between yin and yang, assertion and receptivity, acting and being, are achieved.

We receive even more guidance when we look at the Sabian for the Sun at the time of the Full Moon: ‘A Youth Carries A Lighted Candle In A Devotional Ritual’. Where our attention goes right now needs to be approached with reverence and a respect for tradition and the way things have been handled (ritual) in the past. What seems, then, like a fight, like discord, or like a power struggle is much more–it is a redistribution of power, best achieved by taking a fresh or energized approach (we are the ‘youth’ of the image) and applying our energy to working out the problems, especially problems of whose territory is whose, of who has a say over us (both Ceres), and of Will, choice (both Mars), finances, and relationships (both Venus) as they affect our personal power picture, particularly in terms of asset accumulation and talent expression (Taurus).

There is also the curious matter of a Finger of God formed at the time of the Full Moon by the local Ascendant (Seattle) and Saturn. Those quincunxes suggest ‘adjustment’, Saturn is reality or the physical picture, and the horizon or Midheaven often, in my observation, is involved with an earthquake event. Will we have an early morning shake-up here in the Northwest? It wouldn’t be the first.

See my books here and the forecast for today, the 26th, is in the previous post, and visit my other blog on relationships, ‘Been There, Done That’

I’ve been obsessed with doves the past few days–I’m taking it as a symbol for the Lunar event. ‘Le Jeune Fille Aux Colombes’ 1874 Charles Joshua Chaplin {{PD}}

There’s a total Lunar eclipse on the 27th at 4 Aries 40, beginning at 5:11 PM Pacific time when the Moon is still below the horizon in that Western time zone; it reaches maximum at 7:47 PM PDT, though my software shows it completing closer to 7:50 PM, which is the chart I used. The eclipse is completely over by 10:22 PM Pacific. As you know, a Lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and Moon, with a Total eclipse caused by the perfect alignment of all three bodies along the ecliptic. The Earth blocks the light of the Sun from reflecting off the Moon; still some light from the Sun passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, which bends it toward the Moon, with most colors of the spectrum blocked or scattered (known as Rayleigh scattering) and red the only color that makes it through. This gives the Moon a reddish hue during a total eclipse, prompting the descriptor, ‘Blood Moon’.

This is also a Super Moon, which is the point on the Moon’s orbit when it’s closest to the Earth, known as perigee, making it appear larger from our vantage point, especially when it’s near the horizon. As to those end times prophecies about this combination being an unprecedented event (including the way we’ve had a series of these, not just one), check out this overview and scroll down to ‘Media Attention and Critics’ to see why it’s much ado.

This Full Moon is opposed Juno and Black Moon Lilith, is squine to Pallas (that’s an aspect halfway between a square and a trine, 105 degrees, that carries contradictory influences), sesquiquadrate to Venus, in wide square to Saturn, and in conjunction to Vesta. Full Moons are endings, culminations, conclusions–but as we know, in the endings lie the seeds of beginnings, and an eclipse goes one better, promising obliteration–in this case, obliteration of the emotions or short-circuiting the intuitive flow (Moon), specifically those things related to our highest values, or the home or mate (Vesta), by material considerations (the Earth), with the aspects describing how this will play out.

The Lunar eclipse conjunct Vesta, both in Aries, suggests that old values and priorities, especially those based on emotion or that have been passed down without examination, will be eclipsed through the mechanism of the material world; new leaders will be looked to, and independence and assertiveness may gain prominence. The individual cause may become paramount within the home, in the mate relationship, or in the causes to which we dedicate our energy; with this latter, what we get out of our commitment, and what we can do to make it happen, become the prime motivating forces (Vesta in Aries).

What causes the change is symbolized by the Sun (which casts the light that makes the eclipse phenomenon visible in the first place) and its conjunction to Juno and Black Moon Lilith. What triggers the change is a personal need for empowerment or to establish status, with this need motivated by matters hidden, ignore, denied, or that bring rage to the surface. The contact to Pallas suggests this can be wise and practical, but also impractical or unwise, all at once, perhaps in a ‘means vs. ends’ way, and the contacts to Saturn and Venus imply the reality picture may not be easily altered, while the effects of what transpires will be tough on relationships and/ or finances.

The Sabian for the eclipse is, ‘A Triangle With Wings’. This tells us that anything ‘in balance’, but most especially that which is Vestal and in balance (so related to the home, the mate, or the causes to which we’re dedicated) will be elevated, or perhaps set free, by what transpires with the eclipse. When we look at the Sun symbol, we get, ‘A Man Revealing To His Students The Foundation Of An Inner Knowledge Upon Which A “New World” Could Be Built’. This is the idea of revelation, of realization, and suggests that what we ‘see’ at the eclipse, literally or psychically, shows us the possibilities, where those wings can take us.

Generally, what we find at the eclipse is that we will be motivated to look after our own interests, to listen to the still, small voice within (as Edgar Cayce used to say), in order to blaze a new path as the potentials are revealed to us. We will see an assessment and re-establishing of our own Vestal priorities–and from this, all other changes emanate.

This is a great time to learn more about your Vesta–see my new book here–it covers all the signs and placements, offers lots of examples of Vesta active in the life, discusses possible origins of Vestal symbolism, and gives questions and exercises that will help reveal Vesta’s role in your life.

Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida – ‘Barcas en la Playa’ 1909 {{PD}}

The Full Moon occurs at 11:35 AM PDT on the 29th of August at 6 Pisces 06, and it makes us work to find its meaning; though it’s quick to tell us that our previous optimistic efforts, our openness, what we’ve shared publicly and with the social circle, our beliefs and faith (all through a waning opposition of the Moon-Earth to Jupiter), and that our ideals, creative efforts, inspirations or delusions (conjunction to Neptune) contribute to the Full Moon results we see now, it offers us no other major indicators of what may transpire. We could, then, conclude that we are getting feedback on our attitude toward or efforts to acquire bounty, to expand our world, to learn something new, to teach, or to interact socially, to assess an ideal, to create or avoid (through Neptunian delusion)–but that would only be part of the story. We may need to use a dream-like perception, a lens that allows the unconscious, the Collective, or the creative faculties to make leaps and connections we wouldn’t make based solely on facts (Jupiter).

The Pisces Full Moon makes two other, minor aspects: a semi-square to Uranus, and a novile to Ceres. The contact to Uranus suggests there is something unanticipated, surprising or unexpected that tosses a monkey wrench into the works, possibly resulting in an abruptly changing viewpoint or need to adapt spontaneously, and the contact to Ceres says there is an element of ‘Natural Genius’ about the revelations of the Full Moon, its endings or conclusions, and the results that come about based on our need to improvise and respond quickly.

Fortuitous outcomes are ours if we refuse to take the initial feedback as definitive. We may see the end of a dream or creative project, a stripping away of illusion, we may get feedback on a fantasy or ideal (Neptune and Pisces placement), and should we then process it by a critical analysis of what we’ve learned (Jupiter and Sun in Virgo) we may shut off the flow of further reverberations and implications. In the Houses of the natal chart that hold the Full Moon, the House that follows, and the House two Houses before (for example, if the FM falls in your 5th, as it does in the general chart for Seattle, the other two Houses involved will be the 6th and the 3rd), we find the areas to watch for potential surprises, revelations, changes in viewpoint, and ‘happy accidents’.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon is, ‘Illumined By A Shaft Of Light, A Large Cross Lies On Rocks Surrounded By Sea’. No matter what faith we embrace, we can’t help but take this as a religiously-oriented scenario; we see ‘fallen faith’, a religious outlook that couldn’t stand up to true spiritual illumination, that falls in the light of new awareness. So, this isn’t about religion at all, it’s about something we ‘had faith’ in that is made obsolete by a dawning understanding, a new insight we are gaining by Full Moon events, and we should expect stirred up emotions (the Sea) because of it.

We always look at the Sun for a Full Moon, as source of the ‘energy’ we experience; it is, ‘A Harem’. Really! The symbolic implication is that there is a stable of valuable, attractive assets available to us–and we should draw on that. These are likely talents, energy, or understanding that we ‘horde’ a bit, hiding them away–now is the time to take them from our internal ‘harem’ and show them to the world! The Jupiter symbol is also worth a look, as the surface outcome will be directly tied to it: ‘Black And White Children Play Together Happily’. Ostensibly, a harmony is reached–look beyond that, for the real gifts.

See my books here, and have a wonderful weekend!

Just a side note to my readers: Blue Moons are neither astrological nor astronomical events, and so they hold no significance in these arenas; they are only a ‘thing’ because two Full Moons happen to fall in a (man-made) calendar month.

The Full Moon occurs on 31 July 2015 at 3:42 AM Pacific time at 7 Aquarius 55. Unless we allow an orb of more than 4 degrees for aspects, which we won’t, we get no contacts for this Moon. That’s okay–it places all the emphasis, and pinpoints the culmination, to matters of the House axis in the natal chart across which this Full Moon lies. We have an ending, reach a peak or goal, a revelation or understanding, in the area of the chart where Aquarius falls. We can look to the opposite House, the one that holds the Leo Sun, for some sense of where this came from, for explanation. Since the Sun is the originating light, we should be able to draw a line from those Leonine or House related circumstances that led to our Aquarian event, culmination, or ending; in the beginnings, we see the seeds of our result.

The Sabian for the Sun, the originating light, is ‘A Communist Activist Spreading His Revolutionary Ideals’. As individuals, at some point in life we in some way rebelled from what was and declared our new goals and ideals; this is what has spurred developments along the path to today, toward the specific result we get at the Full Moon. Our own radical choices, our own idealism, our own need to be different, apart, independent, modern, or ‘new’ has compelled a particular kinetic energy through time, and here we see the outcome. We may note that the Full Moon occurs just before Venus dips back into Leo; there may be more than a little connection between this Full Moon outcome and what went down 8 years ago. What happens is no one’s responsibility but our own, born in our declaration of our values, and our insistence on letting everyone know what embodies our ideal.

The Full Moon Sabian is: ‘Beautifully Gowned Wax Figures On Display’. The image is a little eerie, as wax can have a hauntingly translucent quality that resembles skin, but skin seen in dreams or airbrushed to downy opacity. This offers the figures a kind of mocking resemblance to living Beings, but in no way can they be confused with humans–and that may be the point: real life and living isn’t something done for display, isn’t about being ‘beautifully gowned’ to no point or effect, and this Full Moon may show us where our own version of living for the way it looks must end.

The implication is that something unusual, idealistic, radical we chose in the past led us, no matter our intentions, to a stance or way of Being that is artificial, inflexible, that is for show only–and we must let it go now. In some way what we found so perfect in the past has become something fake; we must reconnect with the inspired, wild origins of what has become lifeless, and give it life once again.

Engraving by Gustave Doré for an 1876 edition of Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Captioned “I Watched the Water-Snakes,” it depicts a sailor on the bowsprit of a sailing ship tied to a dead albatross, with water-serpents in the sea around him. 1876 {{PD}}

I’m making an exception on orbs this time around, allowing four+ degrees so that we can include the Full Moon conjunct Pluto and opposed Mars. The symmetry of it, with one on one end of the event axis and one on the other, and at either side of the FM degree as if they are two children on a see-saw, trying to balance out something between them, can’t be ignored. It’s as if our anger, action urge, personal initiative, or ‘I Want’ (Mars) launches things (as companion to the Sun, without which we’d have no Full Moon), and in the culmination this becomes either a transformative or destructive energy (Pluto), potentially changing or tearing down our walls, barriers, rules, the structure of our lives, or those things that have been holding us back (Capricorn).

The FM is also sextile Neptune and square Vesta, implying that what must change may conflict with the way we believe things should be—we’ll be bucking our own values, in this regard—but the contact to Neptune suggests we have a chance to create something much more like our ideals—so don’t resist.

The FM also forms apex to a loose Fist of God with a base of Sedna square Venus. A Fist always suggests that what occurs will be tough, that we’ll in some way ‘take a beating’, but here we see that our own ‘blind spot’ or instinctual response within a financial or relationship situation will be involved with (and perhaps be a catalyst for) FM action. What occurs (or more specifically, what we do—Mars) could initiate rage (Pluto) but could also act as a ‘tipping point’ for the change the FM promises.

Special notice goes to a minor aspect that seems to cry out (via the 29 degree placement of Saturn) for attention, and that is the Full Moon’s novile to a Saturn under stress. The ‘genius’ (the novile) of what culminates at the FM comes directly from a stressful reality situation, one of having been or having been required to be restrained, from obstacles, dead ends, delays, or setbacks that have now become intolerable—or perhaps where we see we must do something to break the impasse.

Sabian for the FM: ‘An Albatross Feeding From The Hand Of A Sailor’ This symbol speaks directly to Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’, which tells of an albatross following a ship, considered good luck, and the sailor who shoots it, in the eyes of the crew bringing disaster to their voyage—hence the term, ‘an albatross around one’s neck’, meaning that something or some action has marked you as the bringer of bad things. Here though the sailor feeds the albatross, so encourages the potentials for good luck. That suggests that if we embrace whatever changes, transforms, or is destroyed with the Full Moon, we will increase our chances of a fortuitous outcome.

For a Full Moon we also look at the Sun’s Sabian: ‘A Large Diamond In The First Stages Of The Cutting Process’ This suggests that what culminates at the Full Moon comes as we make efforts to achieve a goal; we are not promised that we will reach that goal, but instead that in the process of moving forward (expressing our Mars) we encounter change and its inevitable effects (Pluto), and then must go from there.

This is the Full Moon report, from ECLIPSE; watch for my new book on Vesta, coming this summer, and see all my books here–thanks, and happy Full Moon!

The Full June Moon (perfect for spooning!) occurs at 9:18 AM Pacific time of the 2nd at 11 Sagittarius 49, sextiles Ceres, squares Neptune, is widely opposed Mars but a little too wide to count in opposition to Mercury (chiefly because movement is mutually away from meeting, rather than toward it), and is also sesquiquadrate Venus. This last listed aspect, to Venus, may be the most deceptive one, as we likely won’t even associate the ending, culmination, or event of the Full Moon with relationship or financial implications—and yet that’s the area (along with potential effects in the natal Houses ruled by Venus) where repercussions of what happens will finally land. We can expect the Full Moon to be the culmination of surgery on the psyche, with the effects to finances or relationships the unfortunate complications that come after.

Need they be negative? Not at all—in fact, the culmination offers us both an opportunity and a challenge—to take a good hard look at the use of our creative energy (and that can flow into literally any life area) and to ‘own our authority’, that personal sense of competence and the right to make our own choices that we can sometimes be too easily shaken from. The FM points out that we remain powerful no matter what, and it tells us that the effect is targeted in one, specific direction: we have the ability to change what’s not working, to re-direct energy so that it’s not squandered, and to banish procrastination and the need to seek permission—the events of this FM show us in no uncertain terms that we are our own authorities, we are powerful in our own lives—and we must both accept and admit that, and in doing so acknowledge that, to an extreme degree, we are the arbiters of our fate.

The Full Moon reminds us of our natural power, rejects fantasy and what’s untrue, and asks us to put the ego aside; we are invited into a powerful role that we were born to hold, one that allows no deception, that is pure in its expression, that connects us to the natural world in a psychic, spiritual, and visceral way. The culmination of this Lunar energy in Sagittarius demands that we respect knowledge, reality, and the Collective connection through shared information, common experience, and cultural similarities—and that we do so in a state that is both in line with Nature and true to ourselves, which requires openness and honesty—if we’re clinging to any false beliefs about ourselves or our world, we will have to let them go—and if we don’t, we see the difficulties those false beliefs cause when they infect the relationship or financial sphere.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Flag Turns Into An Eagle; The Eagle Into A Chanticleer Saluting The Dawn’. What begins as simple flag-waving, as loyalty instilled by rote, transforms into something dignified and noble, into something living and beautiful—the allegiance that seemed routine grows into a sincere feeling of beauty, pride, and constancy—and once we reach a level of understanding that allows us to ‘soar’ we can then take on the role of teacher, town crier, journalist, speaker, sharer, example, which by our very expression brings enlightenment to others.

We also look at the Sun for a Full Moon: ‘A Negro Girl Fights For Her Independence In The City’. Ignore the antiquated language and consider that when this symbol was formed through the agency of Elsie Wheeler and Marc Edmund Jones in 1925, the situation for a black girl looking for autonomy in a city was quite different than it is today; in that time there were few avenues open to her, and independence was only possible within a very restricted compass (though in any age there are always exceptions, such as Madame CJ Walker, who revolutionized the cosmetics industry in service to African-American women). Since the Sun sheds the ‘origin light’ that makes the entire dynamic of Sun-Moon interplay visible, this Sun Sabian may refer to a need within ourselves to recognize that our fight for progress and autonomy only occurs within a vary narrow spectrum of possibilities at any one time. Though we feel the whole world open before us, and myriad potentials within our grasp, with the array of possibilities seemingly overwhelming at times, the reality is that there are usually only a few directions we may take at any one moment, and these are often not so far from one another. It’s a myriad of small choices one after another that usually ends up bringing big change, and most of those choices occur beneath the level of conscious thought (in the Moon’s territory), revealed only by application of awareness (contact by the Sun). If we can be conscious of the parameters within which we make our choices, we will see that no matter how big the change feels, we still make that change, or move forward on the Path, one step at a time—that’s why it’s so important to not only keep our goals in mind, but to measure our actions in terms of how effectively they move us toward them.
