A little something from ECLIPSE for March 7th: that trine between Mercury and Saturn is still in effect, and it still captures Pluto at the midpoint. This reinforces that, though authorities talk a good game, they intend to keep all the power for change in their own hands. Is anyone surprised? Probably not. This tells us, through the simple mechanism of the Merc retro, not to believe all that we are promised, because any actions we undertake to change what is will meet with resistance, sabotage, and outright opposition (Mars sesquiquadrate Saturn).

See a previous commentary on Merc retrograde here; it’s 4 years old, but still relevant during the current cycle, though I would add that since Merc is now retro  in Pisces, we are probably adding a lot of emotion, and some intuitive perception, into the mix, as well.

From the current ECLIPSE:

We’re in the Lunar Void right now, with the Moon entering Capricorn at 4:14 PM PST of the 5th. Starting at 9 PM PST and lasting through 9 AM of the 6th, the Moon sextiles Neptune, Chiron, and Venus, with stops along the way to square Uranus (4 AM PST) and quincunx Jupiter (6 AM PST). This plunges us into an agitated emotional state where we attempt to express the individuality through creativity, Art, Love, or healing, but may find our actions or choices unpopular on the social scene. Why? I don’t know, though we may find a clue in the way the social circle wants to keep it light, and possibly non-committal (Gemini) while we are interested in solid progress and nailing down commitment and achievement (Capricorn)–we’re just too serious, it seems, for networking successfully. Just give it a rest, for now.

3 March: the Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:11 PM PST; at 6 PM PST the Moon squares Neptune, bringing conflict over some delusion we accept as real, some fantasy we insist on being attached to, or with creative activity, which seems to contradict our feelings about what our creative output should be.

4 March the Inferior Conjunction (the meeting of retro Mercury and the Sun) heralds conflicts, unexpected costs, and circumstances that offend those things we hold sacred.  1 AM the Sagittarius Moon squares Venus and trines Uranus. Relationships suffer from a too-independent attitude or from simple rebelliousness. Costs of contrariness or insistence on being unique are serious and far-reaching. Allow others their freedom, even if it feels wrong, and channel individual expression so that it finds a productive and useful outlet. 8 AM PST Luna tucks herself into the midpoint between Pluto and Saturn. We are emotionally struck by changes to the structures and organization of our lives, and may experience some intense feelings of aloneness and fears of destruction or restriction under coming conditions. It should be reassuring that there is nothing we can do about these changes, and that they have been going on for some time, it’s just that right now circumstances allow us to really feel them happening (or maybe we should say, we are only feeling them, with the mental faculties completely out of the way, and that makes the emotional reactions seem so much more potent). Try not to make any decisions based on the emotions at this time.

28 February Venus conjuncts Neptune, and we all get a taste of perfect Love, Dreams Fulfilled and Paying Off, Ideal Relationships, and/ or fall into the most costly delusion of our lives. Neptune is strong in his own territory, and though Venus enjoy the rapture and escape available in Pisces she does not do a lot of fact-checking or calling of references with, occasionally, disastrous results. Your own relationship to the god of fantasy, dreams, and the ideal is instrumental in anticipating how to handle this influence. If you’re on good terms, this can be a highly enjoyable and even profitable day–otherwise, you might need a sitter, for your own safety.

Something can be worked out,something can be healed, by the sea. By Jose Malhoa 1918 {{PD-Art}}

10 AM PST the Libra Moon quincunxes Neptune–it’s the same song all day, really, as the Moon goes on to quincunx the Sun and Chiron, and make hard contact to Pluto–weakness exposed, shame, wounds scraped raw, and the chance to transform it all into a state of acceptance and understanding, and a sense of empathy that can inform all we do. It’s your choice. Round about 5 PM Pacific the Moon trines Jupiter and opposes Uranus. This is prime time for embracing the parts of ourselves we feel others would reject, and for making a positive foray onto the social scene. A lot of healing can happen here.

'Surprised' by Rousseau 1891 {{PD-Art}}

‘Surprised’ by Rousseau 1891 {{PD-Art}}

4 AM PST the Virgo Moon quincunxes Pallas; here we go with the emotions and intuition uneasy with what we know to be wise. This may be the kick-off for questioning of our values, defying what’s smart out of a sense that this may only be holding us back. Nope, it’s not. The larger influences today are simply disruptive–we’d be smart, at least for now, to avoid the kind of thinking that is sure there’s something better ‘out there’. 9:30 AM PST the Moon opposes Mercury-Mars and trines the South Node. More trouble, this time in the form of aggressive words or thoughts, egos that spout folderol, actions that support pure fantasy rather than fact, and we draw on the past as our ‘proof’ that all this is a good idea. Oy. The intuition is likely extremely unhappy at this point, telling you in no uncertain terms to stay away from all this talk and all these moves–and you would be smart to do so. 1 PM PST the Moon squares Ceres. Even Mother Nature is irked. Don’t expect a harvest at this time, don’t take anyone’s inventory (in the Bill W sense), don’t criticize, and for gosh sakes don’t hand out lists for ‘How to Improve ‘X”! Nobody’s in the mood for that Virgo Moon stuff. 3 PM PST the Moon trines Sedna–blissful escape! OR we become distraught as things flatten out and nothing seems to have much meaning anymore. Let it pass. 8 PM PST the Moon trines Juno. Listen to the emotions/ intuition–at this time they will guide you unerringly to an empowering scenario.

Void begins 8:39 PM Pacific time; the Moon enters Libra at 5:02 AM PST of the 27th.

And now, a few bits from ECLIPSE:

24 February Pallas opposes h.Zeus and the Earth quincunxes Uranus. The tone may be one of fighting what we really want, insisting that the material encourages all the ‘wrong’ things in us, and persisting with the notion that smart money will be anywhere but invested in those things we want. Where did we get this nonsense? This may be a result of the soon-to-be conjunct Mercury retro-Mars meet-up in Pisces; the two of them get together in the sign of the Collective and convince us that the only possible acceptable response to things is to deny the individual Will in favor of some Cosmic ‘what the Collective needs’, and with our mental faculties tied up in knots, we may accept these notions as correct ones. Instead what we might do is consider how truly wise our ambitions really are, and whether they are attainable in this world by ourselves as the individuals we are. May bring forward a startling ‘discovery’ or two, and gives us a fresh lay of the land for the Merc retro period.

25 February Venus enters Pisces later in the day (somewhere between 6 and 7 PM Pacific time), but until she does, she sits in 29 hellacious degrees of Aquarius, stressing the intellect with all the jealousy, envy, wish-listing, want, appetite, and insistence on having relationship (even if the other party doesn’t want to) that can make a goddess cry. Finances, too, take a beating, as Venus is oh-so-likely to believe she can buy her way out of anything (or toward happiness). Ignore the tantrum-throwing child inside you, leaving all Venusian matters to which we might want to make changes as they are, for now.

Full Moon occurs on the 25th at 12:25 PM PST at 7 Virgo 23

Though we see old wounds clearly (Sun moving to conjunct Chiron) we are done with these; accounts are closed, criticism put to bed. Now reflected, positive light (the loving support and feedback of others) encourages development of and use of new talents and skills. These will change the view of one’s own individuality; what we saw as uniquely ‘us’ will have to change, as will our relationship to the social circle. Though Full Moons represent endings (to the old hurts we spoke of earlier), this one will also represent a beginning, as the shift in abilities exhibited, change to the Self-image, and the adjustments to interaction with (and probably status within) the group mark the start of a ‘new’ Self, possibly with a new role.

On Mercury Retrograde:

One constant for the period is that, with the Mercurial functions effectively ‘scrambled’, we must rely on feeling, sensing, and the intuitive (primarily Venus, and secondarily, the Moon) in order to function effectively and receive accurate ideas on how to proceed. These senses don’t replace Mercury–for most of us they only act during direct times to enhance our minds–but during a retro we must be more willing than usual to accept information we receive through the feeling function as valid and accurate, if only to keep us from sailing blindly off a cliff! We can look to our natal Venus for clues as to how best to approach things, for instance, looking for an ‘original spark’ to guide us with Venus in Aquarius, or directly using the emotions and intuition as a sensor with Venus in Cancer, or using assessments like appeal and appetite to reveal info with Venus in Taurus.

And on aspects for the 22nd:

For the 22nd of February only one, slight aspect forms: Venus moves semi-square Pluto–but oh, for those sensitive to the mixing of Love and Power, relationships and rage, beauty and, well, ugliness (though let’s say right up front that there’s a lot subjectivity in assessing those), this could be like walking in tender, bare feet on jagged glass, sort of a thing where you think, oh I can make it across fast, and then find that not only is the pain unbearable and the glass cutting remarkably deep, but the expected glassless right-over-there is nowhere in sight. It’s not a pretty picture but it is an understandable one, if we realize that the coolness with which Venus in Aquarius approaches a passionate subject may be the trigger to some roiling anger long contained and now released. Pluto dissolves the container itself, and what remains is the understanding (Aquarius) of what Love and relationship really are.

For the 23rd:

2 AM PST brings a trine of the Leo Moon to Uranus, promising sudden emotional revelations or spontaneous revolution! Surprises abound. 4 AM PST the Moon sextiles Jupiter, exaggerating the effects of whatever Lunar contact to Uranus brought up. Proceed with care, because what’s going on now can easily go public. 7 AM PST the Moon quincunxes Chiron and forms the apex to a Finger of God with base of Chiron-Pluto. This ushers in circumstances that allow us to easily rid ourselves of old hurt, with a very positive emotional payoff should we let go of our wounds. If not, we can expect a blow-up that may add to our scar tissue, and create some significant new barriers in relationships.

The Astro & Lunar Essence 20 February 2013: ‘A Creative Renaissance’

‘Dream’ by Joan Brull 1905 {{PD-Art}}

I felt like it was important to share most of the forecast for today; normally, you can get the whole thing, plus articles and more, by subscribing to ECLIPSE

February 20th has one big whammy: the Sun conjuncts Neptune. This is our once-yearly tune-up to our Neptunian nature (though we all have a personal one when the t Sun hits our natal Neptune). Here we get a good measure of how well our surroundings are connected to reality, how truly creative is our environment, and in what ways we may have been mislead, deceived, or otherwise fed a fantasy–and we should take it all with gratitude, as we are seeing in stark clarity ways in which our Neptune may be much better employed in the coming year. Since this occurs in Pisces, we should be cognizant of the way in which creativity is having a kind of Soul-centered Renaissance on both an individual and a Collective level; creative activity has never been greater or more effectively used to convey the dreamed of, the ineffable, and what has only been felt, until now. Make sure there’s an active place for your creative urge in your life–and a creative goal for the month of the Sun in Pisces would be especially productive and apt in conveying the imagined into reality. A sad few might accept a total lie as their reality at this time–but I know that won’t be you.

3 PM PST the Moon squares Uranus, showing us where we need to ‘break loose’ or where we are too much of a loose cannon as it is! One way or another we must face a Uranian imbalance. 7 PM PST the Moon trines Chiron, making us easily hurt, or easily healed, your choice. This kicks off a Grand Trine with Saturn that addresses how truly hurtful the reality situation really is, and what skills to use to change things for the better. 11 PM PST the Moon opposes Pluto. We are either appalled by someone else’s Plutonian display, or we are acting Pluto ourselves, and shocking someone else. In either case, we are disowning something, the fact that we all contain that core rage, destruction, and incredible transformative power, or that we are sensitive beyond measure to what’s around right now (Moon in Cancer). Allowing both perceptions to be part of the Self-image is the healthiest choice.
