'A pageant of childhood' Thomas Cooper Gotch {{PD}}

‘A pageant of childhood’ Thomas Cooper Gotch {{PD}}

The Full Moon is conjunct Jupiter, in a Fire Grand Trine with Pallas and Uranus, and apex to a Finger of God with base of Pluto-Chiron. This suggests two exaggerated dynamics working simultaneously, with both emphasizing the role of the individual (Leo) in the social context (Jupiter). The GT says that the FM can trigger smart and original action that expands our world or brings some personal matter to conclusion. The Finger suggests that successful healing brings transformation of matters of the House where the Full Moon falls in the natal chart, or brings transformation of the social position/ role. These configs may bring big, sweeping events, the abrupt cessation of something, and/ or fulfillment to some unique and original plan or dream—with this latter it may be more about ‘concluding the dream’, wrapping up planning, and for the first time seeing that your optimism was well placed—your plan is going forward.

The Sabian for the FM is, ‘A Pageant, With Its Spectacular Floats, Moves Along A Street Crowded With Cheering People’. A pageant is often a symbolic reenactment of a journey or progression of events; this one is presented like a parade, and suggests that the Full Moon brings a kind of celebration of what has been prepared, considered, nurtured, or expressed. It’s an overwhelmingly positive symbol, in the sense that things must be peaceful, prosperous, and the populace must be largely in agreement for this kind of thing to occur, and tells us that the results of the Full Moon are almost those of a harvest, a celebration of our own good choices.

By the 31st we’ll begin to see whether we’ve hit our mark or not. ‘The Fair Toxophiles’ William Powell Frith 1871 {{PD}}

I wanted to mention a little something that likely won’t get a lot of attention otherwise: a Fire Grand Trine consisting of Pallas, Juno, and Uranus. It’s been around for about a week now; we can look back and probably see something of its influence. Action seeking empowerment has been fueled by an array of impulses, including spontaneity, rebelliousness, a desire to modernize, the impulse to cooperate with the group, and those unique qualities and viewpoints that inform our individuality. Pallas is a smart and practical indicator, suggesting what we choose will be in our own best interests, no matter how erratic or disruptive it appears from without; Juno, too, will be attuned to what empowers us as individuals, not what supports those already in authority, and with each of us defining empowerment as many different ways as there are snowflakes, we can be sure that even those choices that look decidedly disempowering from the outside made sense to the person making them.

This continues through the 31st, when Earth takes the place of Juno; when that occurs, we begin to see material effects of the choices we’ve made and the actions taken. Our surroundings will reflect our actions in a very particular way: we’ll see just how empowering our choices have been, or how they’ve missed the mark. Earth leaves the Trine by the 6th of February.

‘A Summer Evening by Kallsjön’ Helmer Osslund before 1938 {{PD}}

There’s a Water Grand Trine of Earth-Jupiter-Chiron and a Mystic Rectangle of Sun-Jupiter-Earth-Pluto right now; both configurations amplify what’s currently available. With the GT, intuition is magnified in the arena of application of unique skills to material matters. We each have those specific, Chirotic abilities we were meant to discover, cultivate, and share–this is one of those windows of opportunity when we have the ability to apply those skills to our surroundings, in use of our assets, or in the material picture in such a way that the abilities themselves are much more powerful than they would otherwise be–such is the amplification available through the configuration. With the Rectangle, we are given the vision or knowledge necessary to give the Soul expression in some material form right now; this will likely be through a vocational outlet, something we’re called to do or moved to participate in at this time. Both configurations give us extraordinary ability to apply our talents–use and enjoy!

Amanda Knox & the Italian Court Ruling

Amanda Knox, astrology, Finger of God, Grand Trine

I'm now using Whole Sign charts; previous analyses used Placidus. Got to the ECLIPSE chart page and scroll down for Knox and Meredith Kercher's charts together.

I’m now using Whole Sign charts; previous analyses used Placidus. Go to the ECLIPSE chart page and scroll down for Knox and Meredith Kercher’s charts together.

I did say I would look a little more at the case of Amanda Knox, who yesterday had her murder conviction upheld by an Italian court. The transits are set for 3 PM local time (Seattle), which is approximately when word came down that a decision had been rendered. To my understanding Knox gets an automatic appeal of this decision; only if she loses on the subsequent appeal would extradition be on the table.

On examining the natal chart and transits, we see a few striking things, the most telling of which to my mind is the conjunction of the transiting North Node to the natal Vertex, with only an 8 minute gap. That implies this entire process is unquestionably her fate, no matter what the final outcome; think of it as playing a role–we all have these scenarios–this is hers.

There’s a Water Grand Trine formed by t Jupiter, t Juno-Chiron, and Amanda’s natal Pallas. We see a broadcasting of hurt and its effect on empowerment, freedom (Jupiter) threatened–certainly one loses both freedom and empowerment when imprisoned–but the contact to Knox’s natal Pallas implies she knows the wisdom of what’s happening, or perhaps of this particular ruling. This may be nothing more than her recognition of that role indicated by the NN-Vertex contact, or it could be the expected result, from her point of view–or it could even be the unstated recognition of the appropriateness of the ruling, should she in fact be guilty. In any case, this is playing out on an emotional plane (the Water element)

The New Moon occurred in Amanda’s 9th; not surprising that a ruling in a foreign country opens a whole new chapter for her. t Zeus creates a T-square with the Sun-Earth axis=we’re seeing the results, material and spiritual, of the desire nature acting out–but does this say she’s guilty, and that the ruling is the result of her own choices, or that the desires of the Italian prosecution are bringing conflict to her Soul and Material Purposes? It could be either.

We also see a Mixed Element Grand Trine of t Ceres and Mercury, both at 29 degrees of their respective signs, in aspect to Amanda’s Chiron-Vesta conjunction in the 1st, and out-of-element to her natal Venus in the 2nd–in fact, the midpoint of her placements is the 29 degree point that fills in the Trine perfectly. ‘A stressful message from authorities, who are themselves under stress’ certainly describes the transiting energies; this impacts Knox’s sense of herself as a woman, her Self-worth picture, her relationships, and her finances, as well as a sense of herself as wounded that she may consider sacred (Chiron-Vesta). But, a GT carries an implication of energy balance, and this could suggest that the situation allows Knox to express those affected natal characteristics effectively and perhaps Self-righteously, as well. After all, the most effective defense against a charge of murder (the attitude that makes you most believable in your denial of responsibility) may be your own view of yourself as a victim whose status as such is sacred, not to be questioned.

t Mercury at 29 tense degrees of Aquarius also quincunxes natal Mars in Leo; Amanda’s ego may be frustrated by what’s being communicated–when the court’s speaking, she’s not in control of the message. t Neptune is within orb of her n Juno in the 10th, and t Mars is also sesquiquadrate=she may feel she’s under attack, and be confused about her reputation, about the impression she makes, about what may actually be empowering to her and what isn’t, and perhaps she may be prone at this time (while Neptune lingers) to partner with others who may raise her status but not truly serve her cause (a la Juno).

t Neptune also fills in a Grand Trine with Amanda’s natal Venus and Pluto=illusion, Truth, and beauty are evenly matched at this point. Since this Pluto and Venus both belong to Knox natally, it seems it will be the function of Neptune, strong in its own sign, to sort it out. Truth (and maybe rage) express through her values, her relationships to people and money, and her idea of herself as a woman, but Neptune’s presence may exaggerate the ‘mirror’ quality Knox has anyway, and make current opinions reflective of what each of us thinks we see. It also could imply that, until Neptune moves on, we may have no chance at getting to the truth.

t Sedna is apex to a Finger of God with base of n Ceres-Uranus-Moon in 7th (drawing a picture of someone who may believe that all the authority, privilege to act as one pleases, and emotional sensitivity belongs to others) sextile t Mars. The Finger takes that natal complex, combines it with aggression both given and received, and concludes that this will create both a primal result (speaking to the deepest held urges and qualities) and that these factors may obscure who’s really attacking whom.

My sense is that Knox is at a crucial point: she has many energies working in her favor right now, especially ones related to being able to create, if not precisely the image she wants to, then one that obscures the reality picture. This won’t last forever; the cover of Neptune and the ‘blind spot’ of Sedna will move on, and she will appear differently to onlookers–the question is, what will they see when the influences change?

A Lunar thought for today, the 30th, considering situations all over:

6:30 PM PDT Saturn, Earth, and the Moon create a Water Grand Trine. This can be a period when we feel personally security and at peace, as well as sensing that we have all we need. A lovely time of balance and serenity, if we do not exchange placidity for drama. Jupiter, the North Node, and Chiron also form a Grand Trine, this one too in Water; this suggests that a healing attitude on the social scene can affect destiny–that sounds like the perfect time to pray for peace.

And one for today and the next couple days:

At this time we’re also seeing a loose Grand Square with the Nodes, Saturn, Mars, and Juno. This is a conflict centered in who will get and retain authority, the kind of influence that will determine the paths of many. Though there may be contingents starring the assertive upstart, the established authority, and the individual or group who hold authority in name only and struggle to gain it for real, betting money should, in this instance, go on the established hierarchy, ‘boss’, or current power-holders–at least for now, they will prevail.

The Forecast for the Sun’s Entry Into Aries 20 March 2013: ‘ A Build-Up, A Bellwether’

Aries in female form: ‘Queen Boudicea’ by John Opie Several depictions of Boudicea showed her “haranguing” her troops; would they say that if she were a man? I think not.

The forecast for tomorrow, as the Sun enters the sign of Aries, as presented in ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest:

20 March The Sun enters Aries, pulling our attention to the Self, aggression, anger, and the need to act. It’s almost spring, and the juices are flowing–no more of that relaxed, drifting, daydreaming Pisces for you and me! No sir. The Sun’s entry into Aries starts, of course, at the much-lauded Aries Point–so today may be a kind of bellwether for the coming Solar year. Note the tone, note the positives, note the negatives–and look for them as a running theme or subtext through to next first day of Sun in Aries.

Our take on reality, meanwhile, is at odds with that of those in authority, or with nature itself, or requires some serious negotiation before things shake out into an acceptable state. We can either bash our own heads against barriers, walls, and other impediments, or we can modify our idea of what is to accommodate what we feel should be. Wounds come from ignoring what we know to be wise; though it may be tempting, don’t blow off what’s smart to indulge the urge to act out or act up. (Sun into Aries/ Earth into Libra, Saturn sesquiquadrate Ceres, Chiron semi-square Pallas)

2 AM PDT the Cancer Moon squares Uranus; that building Aries energy brings out the practical joker, the panicker, the rebel without a cause, the know-it-all, and the person who just wants to be left alone, and keeps interrupting you to let you know. Erratic behavior is the norm right now; try not to react. 8 AM PDT the Moon creates a Grand Trine with Chiron and Saturn. Overwhelming emotionalism arising out of hurt may make for a feeling that we’re confined in a watery grave–but know that the trapped feeling falls away when we are willing to let go of emotional immersion as a way of being. It may feel ‘more alive’, to some, but is really just a mechanism that keeps us from moving forward, so waterlogged are we by feeling and sensation. 10 AM PDT of the 20th the Moon opposes Pluto. If we haven’t lap-pooled our way out of the emotional morass that the Grand Trine invited us into, this will be the wake-up call that tells us we are way out over the deep end, with no ladder in sight. If we managed to stay cake-free and dried, as Shel Silverstein once said, we will at this point find that we are either dealing with another’s Plutonian energy (or, as we sometimes call it, an assault), or we will be dealing with our own Plutonian urges and their emotional consequences. Stay calm and take your time, in dealing with either situation. 6 PM PDT the Moon squares hZeus, showing us the emotional downside to getting what we want. Midnight the Moon trines the North Node and semi-sextiles Vesta. This offers a point of emotional alignment with our goals and values, and could call for slight course correction.

Just a Little Essence for Today 18 October 2011: ‘Are Those Angels Singing, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?’

8 AM the Moon trines Mercury, and we get the message we’ve been waiting for–now can we translate it? This is necessary as it will be sent and received on an emotional frequency, or we’ll intuit information ‘broadcast’ by another via our emotional connection–in any case, informative, if we can set aside our emotional prejudices and accept the information untainted.

5:30 PM PDT the Moon trines Venus. A Watery trine feels so good! Just don’t let the feeling turn into money or love slipping through your fingers like water, ’cause you’re so blissed out you forget to take others, or priorities, into account. This begins a rather wide Grand Trine connection among the Moon, Venus, and Ceres. This Grand Trine amps up the feeling sensibilities until they may resonate like an enormous tuning fork! I know, a weird analogy, but one that describes the overwhelming intensity of the feeling nature at this time–it’s what I imagine angels singing to sound like! The connection to nature, maternal instincts, and love can be profound–this can be an amazing time for an elevated dining experience, an emotional meeting (especially something like a ‘I’ve been looking for my biological mother and now we’re meeting at Starbucks!’ kind of get-together), or true communion with a loved one.

The Essence for 18 June 2011: The Manic Side of Aquarius

Grand Trine, Moon in Aquarius, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

Tapestry detail c1400 {{PD-Art}}

Void begins at 1:08 AM Pacific of the 18th, with the Moon entering Aquarius at 4:48 AM PDT.

By noon PDT we have the Moon sextile Uranus and quincunx Mercury; once again communication is a crapshoot–we are likely to be too spontaneous in our utterances, too radical in our assertions, too rebellious in regard to the ideas and communications of others–how can we avoid this? It’s tough right now; with Mars as planet of latest degree, we are prone to acting and aggressing as ‘the answer’ to whatever ails us–and what ails us are some high flyin’ energies, especially of the emotional variety, that are pinballing around in our heads but that bear little relation to our current reality–such is the manic side of Aquarius. Look to the current position of transiting Saturn and to your natal Saturn–the matters of the Houses where these sit can act as anchors for us–these are the areas we can ground ourselves in and ride out the crazy (unless your Saturn is in Aquarius–then all bets are off!!)

Keep watch for a late PDT Grand Trine–should be delicious!

The Essence for 10 June 2011: Dual Grand Trines

Just playing with words: dual/ duel by Repin 1899 {{PD-Art}}

4:30 PM Pacific and the Moon trines Pallas, and begins a Grand Trine where it will move on to contact Mercury by trine in Gemini. This grouping will last through 9:30 or so PDT, and promises excellent emotional communication; we’ll know what to say, how to say it, and read ourselves and others accurately. If you have something to tell someone, now’s the time.

By 11:30 PM PDT there’s a new Grand Trine formed, with the Moon, Sun, and Vesta. This illuminates who we are, how we feel, and what’s important to us; we consider to what we dedicate our lives, and can draw direct parallels to our identity and choices. This is an affirmation of the Soul’s purpose; if we aren’t busy seeing the way our values have played out in our lives, then we may want to re-consider both what we’ve chosen and how we see ourselves.

Grand Trine, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Gemini, My Daily Astrology Diary

By 8 AM PST the Moon trines Neptune and creates a loose Grand Trine with Venus in lovely Libra. Energies of creation, aesthetics, and emotions balance and can be very effectively tapped  for personal use. 10 AM and the Moon follows up with a square to Uranus and Chiron is added to the Grand Trine. This could prompt creative energies manifested either using unique Chirotic skills or that are inspired by hurt–both are classic creative scenarios that will have an originality and  that may appear suddenly, a bolt of generative lightning that can inspire major work or ideas.

Void begins at 1:57 PM Pacific, and ends with the Moon’s entry into Cancer at 5:13 Pacific. In the interim, it might be best to take the afternoon (or whatever it is for you) off. If it’s anything where you are like it is where I am, you are snowbound–after that creative surge, sit back, put your feet up, and have a little cocoa 🙂
