Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) 10 February 2017 4:32 PM PST at 22 Leo 28

This eclipse occurs concurrent with and involved in several configurations: a Finger of God with base of Lunar eclipse-Jupiter, apex Chiron; a Kite involving the eclipse axis and Saturn-Hygeia and Uranus; and a Fire Grand Trine of Luna-Earth, Uranus, and Saturn-Hygeia; a Finger with base of Sun and Saturn-Hygeia, apex Vesta, with this latter body only 5 minutes off exact semi-sextile to the Lunar eclipse; a loose Fixed Grand Cross with the Sun-Earth-Lunar axis squaring an opposition of Sedna and a 29 degree Black Moon Lilith —and unrelated to the eclipse, a Finger with base of Sedna-Chiron, apex Jupiter, and a loose Cardinal Grand Cross with Vesta, Uranus, Pluto, and Zeus-Jupiter.

But if we keep a reasonable orb of roughly 3 degrees + or –, we don’t have any aspects to the eclipse that aren’t wrapped up in a config, though it’s arguable that Venus and Mars, roughly 5 degrees apart in Aries, both form sesquiquadrates to the eclipse outside of any configuration—they’re the exception. These contacts suggest issues may masquerade as male-female, animus-anima, or complementary opposites in conflict, or requiring adjustment—when the real issues lie in the energy patterns of the configurations—the Mars-Venus energy may just represent the delivery system, a clash between disparate elements that demands adjustment.

lunar-eclipse-february-2017

Eclipse inclusion in multiple patterns implies a highly dynamic set of circumstances that may appear to be independent of one another, but that are almost certainly linked through the Lunar energy (the exceptions being the Finger apex Jupiter and the Cardinal Grand Cross)—and that Lunar link grounds these dynamics in time—that is, it allows the eclipse itself to represent a locus where all these energies converge. Will each individual experience all the dynamic energy patterns of the eclipse? No, but each will experience some of them, largely depending on how (and how intensely) the eclipse fits in to the personal natal chart picture.

The event occurs in Leo, suggesting our attention is on ourselves, our role, our effectiveness, how well we ‘shine’, on issues of generosity and purpose, on identity and focus, and on the concept of ‘heart’ defined as the enthusiasm and commitment with which we meet a subject, and we add to this matters represented by the natal House in which the eclipse occurs. We definitely get feedback in these areas, but it will spread out in many different situations or life areas, so that events may appear distinctly unrelated. This is part of why the eclipse energy will be so confusing: the mix of internal and external information coming at us will be both interdependent (the many contacts) and carry a scent of revelation (Sedna, Uranus), Self-discovery (Leo), and crisis (Black Moon Lilith at 29 degrees, Saturn-Hygeia, Chiron), so that we may easily be distracted by any number of issues, our attention drawn in any number of directions.

Let’s start with the Finger of God with base of Lunar eclipse-Jupiter, apex Chiron; this implies that feelings about, or intuitions centered on, the actual material situation as it applies to ‘the facts’, education, anything ‘foreign’, anything at a distance, or to our social position or the general milieu that surrounds us, creates hurt or demands utilization of our most unique skills. We can answer the intuitive knowing, the emotional reaction, and the social ‘stress’ with either a hurt reaction or one that mobilizes our talents—our choice.

Carl Spitzweg c1885 {{PD}}

Carl Spitzweg c1885 {{PD}}

Next we have the Kite involving the eclipse axis and Saturn-Hygeia and Uranus. We may see sudden events or revelations concerning or affecting the ‘health’ of real-world matters or material situations, possibly through rules or restrictions imposed by ‘the group’—or, we see sudden, easy suppression of the health (or what was an otherwise healthy situation), with the result showing at the Lunar eclipse, and revealing something important about identity or purpose (Sun in opposition). This could suggest sudden shifts in what’s considered ‘healthy’, the normalizing of the abnormal, the pressures of revolution on tradition, the past, and current authorities, the prospect of revolution, and all of it under inspection for whether these are healthy options, in the largest sense, or not. This can be a messy scenario that either makes the eclipse event have emotional impact, or creates the emotional impact from which the eclipse events arise.

The Fire Grand Trine of Luna-Earth, Uranus, and Saturn-Hygeia carries much the same message as the Kite, but offers the option of creating balance (the Trine) through action/ ‘doing’  (Fire). Considering the eclipse occurs in Leo, a Fire sign, it’s likely that taking action will be our natural response—how comfortable we are with that, though, can only be determined by how and in what House the eclipse hooks into the natal chart.

The other eclipse-involved Finger consists of a base of Sun and Saturn-Hygeia, apex Vesta, with this latter body only 5 minutes off exact semi-sextile to the Lunar eclipse; here the Finger dynamic may masquerade as either an offshoot of or a distraction from the eclipse itself. Issues of identity, purpose, and Self-expression are tested via the reality picture, forcing you to ask the question, ‘How well am I actualizing myself and my potentials?’—and the answer is found in your commitments, your highest values and your ability to live them, and in those matters and individuals to which you dedicate your life energy. Those are big subjects, writ on a big canvas, and so we may feel we are unable to answer adequately or meaningfully, at least in terms of being able to translate big causes and trends to the spiritual and concrete energy dedications of the individual life. This is one question that needs to be answered, and answered specifically at this time—don’t brush it off.

There is a Fixed Grand Cross with the Sun-Earth-Lunar axis squaring an opposition between Sedna and a 29 degree Black Moon Lilith, suggesting a crisis with matters too long ignored, denied, or unjust, prompted by our own denial of our instincts or weaknesses, and triggered by the eclipse event. This has ‘dilemma’ written all over it—and as a Fixed matter, may seem intractable. One thing to keep in mind is that, despite all the influences at work (and sometimes at cross-purposes) the essence of things is still a Full Moon, an ending that may have the nature of a wipe-out in the House where the eclipse falls—and that means that no matter what is happening, some circumstances are drawing to a close, even if in the moment they still appear viable.

Overall, what we may need to do, as the impressions and issues layer, one upon another, is focus our choices and actions through those positive expressions available to us, thereby minimizing the distractions and possible destruction inherent in concentrating our energy and attention on the negative situations and circumstances presented. We see outlets in assessing our effective actualization, in the choice to approach things from a healed rather than a hurt perspective (and so emphasize health in all our choices), and most especially in the promised potential of creating balance by taking action. It seems confidence in our ability to handle what comes along, a positive focus on what’s healthy, a willingness to deal with real-world realities and the facts, a determination to make the most of who we are as individuals, are all key to meeting and accepting these energies, using them to their utmost, rather than being overwhelmed by them.

The Finger and Cardinal Grand Cross that don’t directly figure in to the eclipse offer their own possibly distracting (or aiding) input, which we may easily mistake for eclipse energy. The Finger of Sedna-Chiron, apex Jupiter, implies the potential for taking our injured instincts public, or trying to base ‘facts’ on our own wounds (shades of ‘alternative facts!’); a better use would be application of instincts and skills (especially those honed through hurt and experience) to expansion of our knowledge and our world. The Cross consists of Vesta, Uranus, Pluto, and Zeus-Jupiter, and seems most likely to act as support for the idea of creating balance through action (Cardinal energy), particularly action that is original, fearless, based on highest values, and takes an optimistic view of our goals.

The Sabian for the Lunar eclipse is, ‘In A Circus The Bareback Rider Displays Her Dangerous Skill’. This smacks of the courage (a very Leo thing!), daring, and confidence that the eclipse will call forth if we respond with our ‘best Self’. The situations presented may be dicey, uncomfortable, out of our element, or downright dangerous, but in any case will be handled best with a combination of bravery and skill.

Niko Pirosmani 'Black Bear' {{PD||

Niko Pirosmani ‘Black Bear’ {{PD||

We also look at the Sun for a Full Moon event: ‘A Big Bear Sitting Down And Waving All Its Paws’. This is an odd position for a bear, simply because the action doesn’t serve any purpose, and in fact may make the animal more vulnerable than it would otherwise be. We may see a lot of emotional ‘paw waving’, lots of motion and drama that leads nowhere and may even distract from what we need to see. This eclipse is definitely a kind of test: of nerve, of concentration, on seriousness of purpose, and of the skills, abilities, and learning we have so far accumulated—but remember, the test isn’t coming from the outside, observed and measured by some authority; its sole purpose is so that we can see our own abilities, measure our own skills, and sharpen our own focus and clarity of intent.

If you don’t find your groove, moving forward may feel like this. 1912

The AstroEssence: Action-taking and choice-making are impulsive and yet create opportunities, and may in particular create an opportunity related to the New Moon; this abundance of possibility is true for us, as long as we access instinct, don’t confuse that with wishful thinking, and stay aligned with our genuine priorities. We can make gains in knowledge and widen our horizons, if we can find the groove. Strange as it may sound, just don’t think about it; that may be our best ‘in’ to the instinctual nature, along with feelings that are clear (that is, not confused with thought). Those who confuse the sources and meaning of their impulses will find it costly, damaging to either relationships or finances, while everyone else can successfully ignore the unpleasant or denied in favor of the instinctual and what’s true to oneself (Mars into Sagittarius, Vesta-Pallas-Juno Water Grand Trine still in effect–see forecast for the 1st–with Vesta also perfecting a sextile to Ceres, Venus sq Sedna, Mercury contra-parallel Black Moon Lilith)

Sun_and_Moon_Nuremberg_chronicleThe Lunar Essence is exemplified by the New Moon in Leo, falling at 10 degrees 57 minutes, at 1:44 PM PDT of the 2nd. This event in Leo brings a focus of Self-awareness, of our part in the larger scheme, and particularly makes us aware of how we might ‘shine’ in life. This meeting of Sun and Moon (as viewed from our perspective on Earth) ends the Dark period and signifies energetically an inception, a new start, a seed moment, likely related to the real-world matters represented by the House in the natal chart in which the NM falls. The aspects made tell us the story; this New Moon is square to Black Moon Lilith, trine Saturn, quincunx Neptune (and close to but too far out to count a quincunx to the SN), and sesquiquadrate Chiron. We personally (Leo) can begin the process of materialization, or we can find shape and context for these matters, or we can limit or otherwise contain issues related to matters of the House where the NM falls. It will take some effort, some of it potentially unpleasant, but the results can be both healing and creative (especially if you can find that groove!) and can remove a long-held shadow from the psyche.

Fritz von Wille 1880 {{PD}}

Fritz von Wille 1880 {{PD}}

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘Children Play On A Swing Hanging From The Branches Of A Huge Oak Tree’. This may tell us that our best approach, as with the ‘not thinking’ mentioned above, is one that takes a carefree attitude with developments, toward both what we do or generate and what comes from outside us. Play may be our most useful and productive way of engaging the energies, as it all ‘hangs’ on our wisdom and strength, signified by the oak in the image.

For those born with the Sun at 11 Leo: it may feel like you have just awakened, just been struck by the lightning of an exciting and vital idea, or that you are embarking on a renewed life, even if nothing in your circumstances has changed. This is the effect of having your Solar Return follow so closely in the lee of a New Moon. The emphasis, for you this year, is on creativity; be willing to be flexible, to make the changes, adjustments, and modifications that will support exercising your creative energies and doing right by your spiritual needs, because a helpful wind is with you–you can go a lot farther than you think. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

The 22nd Pallas enters Aquarius and, especially while Merc remains retro, we may convince ourselves that every thought is an informed or wise one; au contraire, mon ami, it’s just not so. We may discount our own strength in a situation, even as we treat our wounds as sacred, to be honored rather than healed. This leads to some heavy forms of communication, destructive in some instances, transformative in others. The results all depend on what we really want to change and what we truly care for, deep inside (Vesta parallel Chiron and semi-sq Ceres, Merc conj Pluto)

The 23rd we feel a strong pull into the future, a forward-looking optimism that has practical values and a sense of personal responsibility at its root. We are in a position to understand our minds and our thinking clearly, though not in a position to act on the fairly objective picture we have; we are too damaged by, or perhaps fearful of, further hurt to choose an effective course (Jupiter conj NN, Venus into Capricorn, Merc parallel Ceres, Sun parallel Merc and semi-sq Chiron)

The Full Moon in Leo arrives at 5:46 PM Pacific time at 3 Leo 29. The closest aspect this FM makes is a sesquiquadrate to Chiron; it also opposes Pallas, and takes what amounts to a very wide swipe by quincunx (and so essentially misses) Venus fresh in Cappy (and it’s that newness to the sign that may make Venus more susceptible than usual). This suggests that the Full Moon brings an end, through difficult circumstances, to some unwise, ego-driven hurt that we’ve clung to too long. We have compromised both our values and our ability to heal this insult by willingly resuscitating it; now we have the chance to let it go, once and for all.

‘A Formally Dressed Elderly Man Stands Near Trophies He Brought Back From A Hunting Expedition’ This Full Moon Sabian says that what must be let go is something from the past, something we have collected and cherished (in our own way–the trophies), and we receive a hint that what we are called to let go resulted from our own aggression–but the circumstances that ‘earned’ them are no more, so that our energy is better focused in the now, and in what’s to come, than it is dwelling on the past (and that’s no matter how recently this past has been). It’s important to note that the ‘trophies’ the image refers to, at least in a hunting context, are actually living things pursued and killed, rather than the metal cups and plaques we nowadays typically label ‘trophies’, and this suggests the entire concept of pursuing and laying aggressive claim to the life energy (in whatever form) of another living thing is past its time. We ‘age’ ourselves when we cling to what was, whether it was a glory or a debacle–this Full Moon will show us that, and offer a letting-go opportunity.

For another take on the Full Moon, see Lua Astrology–

The 24th we set out to honor the reality picture, to deal with circumstances as they are, and to dedicate our energy and efforts to building knowledge, to reaching out, to discovering (Saturn in Sagittarius), but what’s been denied, hidden, ignored, or has enraged us at some point surfaces again and prompts rebellion, erratic reactions, or pushes us forward to a point where our response is totally original (at least within our typical lexicon of behavior). The fact is we can’t deal with the reality picture in any effective way if we are wearing a lens of anger or denial; that distorts our vision and automatically means our choices will not be the best we could make. Accept that the issue must be dealt with, and be thankful you were given the chance to handle it, rather than allowed to go ahead and make a muddle of things (Saturn trine Vesta, Uranus opp Black Moon Lilith)

The 25th we find a way to express our Will through our current status or empowerment situation–and isn’t that what we always seek? Be aware that, if you’re dealing with less-conscious others, your competence may attract some aggression–but pay it no mind (Mars conj Juno) We also have Mercury direct today. He turns around just shy of the middle of Capricorn, so if you have placements halfway through the Cardinals you can expect a certain amount of news or communication urgency related to the contacted natal energy–probably somebody (maybe you!) is trying to ‘nail it down’. First thing our valiant messenger contacts (not counting hits to Merc from the Moon) is Pluto, by 30 January; this may be the point when we get the ‘down and dirty’ that happened during the retro period but which somehow remained hidden, until now.

Have a lovely weekend!

ReThinking OurSelves: New Moon in Leo 2015

'The Reflection' Edward Simmons, before 1931 {{PD}}

‘The Reflection’ Edward Simmons, before 1931 {{PD}}

The New Moon occurs at 7:52 AM Pacific time on the 14th of August. This New Moon falls in Leo, a sign that, for better or worse, asks us to consider starting a new relationship with ourselves–or, to sort through the many Selves we carry, and choose to support those that further the personal agenda. The conjunction to retro Venus begs us to look at our own part in relationships and/ or financial matters, and at how our ego and identity-oriented wants (Leo) have shaped our values and investments, as well as the way they’ve shaped what and who surround us.

The conjunction to Venus is telling in another way, as well: it demands a new, integrated relationship with the Self. It costs us (Venus retro) to have different identities, different forms of behavior, keyed to different situations; a positive, holistic ‘I Am’ removes a kind of internal dependence on an ‘Other’ (Venus as relationship), where we determine who we are by bouncing off this ‘not I’, whether that is a difference created within our own minds or within actual relationships.

The New Moon is also quincunx Chiron in Pisces and trine Uranus in Aries. We are called upon to modify or adjust our idea of what hurts us (as this is a major factor in the shaping of those varied identities), and to take out for a jaunt new, unique, original, or inventive versions of the ‘I Am’ (Uranus, Aries). We won’t necessarily choose to retain all these–they should be viewed as experiments–but by the Full Moon that follows we should have a clear idea of what to integrate, and we will likely see that this integration offers some degree of healing (Chiron) to what is probably a rather nebulous, Cosmic pain (Pisces).

Also of note: the NM is in close novile to the current North Node; this may suggest a kind of brilliant resolution to an identity issue or problem is at hand with New Moon events. What’s born here will be Path-influencing, simply because we are somehow deciding who we are.

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘A Carrier Pigeon Fulfilling Its Mission’. I think that’s fairly clear: we ‘get the message’ about some important facet of who we are, and in the process, likely define what we want. That’s not a bad promise for a New Moon, is it?

A little Lunar essence for today, the 15th:

4 PM PDT the Cancer Moon squares Mercury and trines Ceres. Thoughts and feelings are not in harmony, but as long as we are basing things on our connection to Nature, and/ or to our sense of personal authority, all will go well (but for how long, with the mentality dormant or confused and all sensory equipment down?) Don’t worry, we get a ‘new’ handle on things soon enough–’til then, coast. 11 PM PDT the Moon squares Pallas. Why are we so tempted to do something so dumb? Okay, I’ll be more Libra-diplomatic and say, ‘unwise’–but really, dumb–just don’t! Void begins at 12:39 AM of the 16th Pacific time; the Moon enters Leo at 3:30 AM PDT.

And for the 16th:

16 October why does it feel as if what’s smart will hurt if implemented? We’re deluded about what needs to be protected, and our instincts place us in conflict with what we value and what we want. Our thoughts are confused and we may act before we think (or plan)—today’s really the day for dealing with up front issues in such a way that we map out future action, rather than making a move in the present. We have a brief but clear planning window, which relies on our willingness to lay everything out while agreeing not to do anything for now. Special note to artists: creativity may take us down a weird path, and inspiration fails to respect actions we’ve already taken. Be willing to record ideas but forego action on inspiration received at this time—chances are high that the products of creative actions taken now will just have to be scrapped later. (Perfecting today: Chiron sesquiquadrate Pallas, Neptune square Vesta, Venus contra-parallel Sedna, Mercury parallel Neptune and sextile Mars, Sun-Mercury meet in Inferior Conjunction and contra-parallel Black Moon Lilith)

The Daily Word image for the 16th:

Today’s image is a hot cup of tea. Don’t neglect those small rituals that make life enjoyable–when we get busy they can fall by the wayside, and we may find we feel twice as worn without them.

Have a great day, subscribe if you want more (this is all part of the ECLIPSE subscription) and my latest article is still available here–thanks!

Charles Demuth ‘The Circus’ (1917) {{PD}}

For 20 September: empowerment at this particular time comes from facing it all (even what we’d rather not), standing up for ourselves and our right to be respected, and involves a willingness to at least question those things we typically consider sacred—they might need a fresh, objective look—and any ways in which we’ve been bending over backward to maintain harmony with the mate or on the home front may also need to be examined. We may have bent too much, thought of ourselves too little—and if we don’t see our needs now, rebellion against those we see as holding power or authority over us may rear its head. What we don’t want to do is fall into patterns of ego or temper from the past—these will get us nowhere in a hurry. Dark of the Moon begins late PM Pacific time. (Perfecting today: Black Moon Lilith parallel Juno and square Vesta, Uranus quincunx Ceres, Mars sesquiquadrate the South Node)

For the 21st: 5 AM PDT the Leo Moon quincunxes Earth. Our surroundings may challenge us emotionally or give us pause. Void begins at 5:48 AM PDT; the Moon enters Virgo at 8:54 AM PDT. 7 PM PDT the Moon creates a T-square by opposing Neptune with both squaring Mars. We may choose or act in spite of a lack of inspiration or imagination–that may leave us very sorry with the results.

Today’s image is a nurse preparing a shot for a small child. Are you anticipating something not-so-pleasant that is meant to be ‘good for you’? Sometimes we make ourselves do things purely out of a kind of superstitious, ritualistic belief that it will protect us; consider the true efficacy of those preventive measures, before subjecting yourself to them.

And on the Sabian for the Lunar Eclipse of 8 October: ‘Nature Spirits Are Seen At Work In The Light Of Sunset’. This reinforces the culmination factor of the eclipse (the sunset) and reassures us that, even if this is an ending for you with no clear-cut new persona yet showing itself, nature is preparing the elements necessary–all you need to do is wait. The conjunction of Uranus to this point emphasizes the spontaneous nature of what will occur, as well as its uniqueness to the needs and personality of each individual

To see it all, please subscribe! Here’s what’s in the current issue of ECLIPSE, just out, featuring the full report on the upcoming eclipses in October, as well as the Libra New Moon–and have a great weekend!

2 PM PDT the Leo Moon sextiles Ceres. We get along well with those in authority, or are in touch with our own power and able to show it. Negotiations guided by intuition go well, too. 6 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Vesta; both are at 29 degrees. In spite of things in the home, with causes to which we’re dedicated, or interaction with the mate, running smoothly, we’re still tense and possibly snappish. This period may test our commitment to values and to our usual peace-loving attitude. Void begins at 7:14 PM Pacific time; the Moon enters Virgo at 8:37 PM PDT. 10:30 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Mars. It’s easy at this point to become aggressive and critical–but we can choose instead to put our attention on taking detail-oriented action.

Today’s image is a man who returns to a house where he lived many years ago, and finds the current occupants do not welcome him in. It’s important we recognize that no matter our memories, our surroundings change, and psychically and otherwise, we may no longer ‘fit’ in old places or old scenarios. Heraclitus reminds us, we can’t step into the same river twice: it is not the same river, and we are not the same person.

Weak sauce or not, we’ll all get a taste. Jean Béraud’s ‘The Drinkers’ 1908 {{PD}}

New Moon in Leo occurs 26 July at 3 Leo 51 at 3:41 PM Pacific time. The Leo New Moon roars at us mid-afternoon Pacific time, and so in most of the Western hemisphere may go unnoticed in the daytime sky. This New Moon is conjunct Jupiter, and we can count a loose sesquiquadrate to Chiron—and with lenient orbs a square to Mars, brand new in Scorpio.

This suggests that what develops at the NM seems much more formidable, with tougher requirements for action and choice, and much more serious stakes, than it really is; it appears that this conflict or challenge will in actuality be ‘weak sauce’, as the phrase goes—with effects likely concentrated in the natal Houses holding the NM and t Mars. We may work ourselves up, or the social circle may make noises that suggest this is a bigger event than it is—but what happens, or what choices we must make or actions take, will be much less effective and/ or meaningful to our Path than we might think in the moment. Mars new in Scorpio could be more concerned with being taken seriously (even being considered ‘dangerous’ in some sense) than in getting into action, and a square to Sun-Jupiter only adds incentive to broadcast the Self and ‘shine’—no one reacts well to that kind of pressure, especially after the somewhat debilitating experience of the Saturn-Uranus direction changes.

3 AM PDT of the 13th the Leo Moon sextiles Zeus, making us very sure of ourselves and our ambitions. We think we can feel or intuit our way toward them–those enjoying positive contacts to the natal Sun right now actually can. 5 PM PDT the Moon creates a Grand Cross with Saturn opposed Sedna and her own opposition to Mercury; at this time the Moon also quincunxes the Sun. Thoughts and emotions are caught between the reality picture and the unseen forces of the spirit that move just below consciousness; every time we try to reason or feel our way toward some sort of clarity, the constraints of reality clash with some serious, primal, and essential ‘knowing’ that we carry deep inside–the result is difficulty seeing without having the vision jangled by what we sense, or tuning in to the intuition without having material matters intrude. There’s no balancing this, we just have to get through it. 11 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Mars and conjuncts Pallas. We can act with real wisdom at this time; schedule all your decidin’ for right now.

A little something on the Valentine’s Day Full Moon in Leo, and on the Inferior Conjunction of Sun and Mercury retrograde on the 15th, from ECLIPSE. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Full Moon in Leo 14 February 2014 at 3:53 PM Pacific time at 26 Leo 12

With the FM sextile the Mars-Vesta combo we can expect a conclusion of sorts in what I’m tempted to describe as ‘sacred action’. I suspect this is about coming to a decision as to how we are conducting ourselves, specifically in how we’re employing our energy, in some important situation, possibly in the home or with the mate. It may be a point when we acknowledge what we are or are not willing to do, or when we see that we have reached a point of dedication—we need to commit—and so make a significant statement to the Universe: ‘This is important to me’. It also applies to the setting of a personal agenda that expresses the Self (Leo FM)—we can expect that what we find ourselves committing to at this time will be a feature of our days for some time to come.

15 February brings the Inferior Conjunction of the Sun and retrograde Mercury. This is a point of inception, even insemination, if you will! Something new is planted, and coming just after the Full Moon, we may look at this point as an expression of the new start that naturally follows a finish like the one brought by the FM. Usually we have a bit of a gap, a winding down that allows dissipation of the culminating energy, in the period through to the New Moon—but this time that culmination requires a new start in order to be valid itself—in this case, without the new start that culmination would be a rest stop, rather than an end. That suggests that through to the New Moon we will be nurturing the new start, and part of how this will happen is with reviews, revivals, and other Merc retrograde mechanisms; it will be an Inferior Conjunction that sparks that needed Full Moon start (or re-start!) where the sacred action includes the kind of editing of the life course that is central to taking a successful new direction or making a successful new commitment.
