Joaquin Sorolla – ‘Las Tres Velas’ 1902 {{PD}}

That’s the essence of it, this weekend: aspects offering ease in opening doors, for making fortuitous choices and change, ease in transforming knowledge, contacts, or assets into a material form or opportunity we have long desired (or perhaps that we have intuited as correct for us), and this is accomplished through attention to detail, through understanding the social milieu in which we move, and by having a clear understanding of what currently exists in the now (for how can we effectively change something if we don’t see it as it really is?). When faced with realities and having the desire to create change, at this time we are best off if we are flexible in our demands and parameters concerning relationships and/ or finances–a temporary ‘down’ or restriction is just that, temporary–and if we have a willingness to trust instincts and to modify the assertive urges of the ego to be, well, somewhat less aggressive; adoption of these measures can bring about little miracles–or at least, positive surprises and small, astounding leaps ahead–and can set the stage for making precisely the kind of significant progress and alterations to life direction that we are all striving for (Jup trine Pluto, Venus semi-sq Sedna and qnx Saturn, Merc qnx Mars and sxt Uranus, Sun nov Sedna)

Don’t let a clown talk you into something you don’t want to do. Amandus Faure ‘Artistin und Pierrot’ 1908 {{PD}}

This weekend’s image is a clown hitchhiking by the side of the road. What matter in your life that is in some way indefinable or troublingly obscured is asking you to ‘pick it up’? What’s hiding behind a genial mask, trying to engage you? Someone in clown make-up is unrecognizable–be aware that whatever is appealing to your generous nature to be taken along for the ride will be hiding its true nature from you–proceed from there.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Your Weekend 18-19 June 2016 The Dream Dissolved, or Made Real

Dante Gabriel Rossetti: Beata Beatrix, ca 1864-70 {{PD}}

The worst thing is that, if our response to Friday’s influences (especially that lingering pressure of the Saturn-Neptune square) isn’t thoroughly processed, we may end up taking actions or making choices that are at least very serious, in terms of their implications or repercussions, and possibly devastatingly destructive–and this may lead to a mindset that is disconnected in important ways from the reality picture. Our choice of whether to allow a dream to dissolve, or to move on giving it form and structure, is not the determining factor–neither choice is superior–the whole thing rests on whether we actually make a choice. We may think we have time to ponder, or that we can take a more passive stance and the ‘right’ thing will simply come into being, but that is abdication of the very power that we must embrace in order to use Saturn-Neptune in the most positive way–and in abdicating our power, we invite external sources of power, in the form of others and their Will, or the impulses of chaos and helplessness, to wreak havoc, or at least really really mess things up.

Suffrage_universelIf we have accepted that challenge to make a definitive statement around the dream, a Yea or Nay to going forward, then our weekend will be pleasant and possibly mildly eventful, with a few surprises, a revelation or two about our own egos and values, and a resulting placidity of mind that reflects a sense of all right within our world (no matter what’s happening on the rest of the globe). If we have failed to take a specific direction, we may find that circumstances offer empowerment, but only at the price of seriously distorting our values and priorities, and/ or that the group or ‘being unique’ may ask some very uncomfortable things of us that violate our own precepts or world view. Peace requires acknowledgment of and engagement with reality (that is, the agreed-upon common reality)–everything else breeds discord, and attracts ‘accident’.

Evelyn de Morgan - 'Phosphorus and Hesperus', (1881)

Evelyn de Morgan – ‘Phosphorus and Hesperus’, (1881) {{PD}}

I’ve noticed lately that individuals seem to be Self-separating into the two facets of the square: there are those who are dealing very effectively with reality (and having serious, concrete successes because of this) and those who are not, with the range from totally delusional to a troublesome lack of perspective on the Self and the world. If you are currently mired in disappointed hopes, are finding the world wrong and yourself right, or lamenting either how misunderstood you are or how foolish everyone else is, you may be wrapped tightly in the Neptunian side of the equation; if you are acknowledging your fears, the harshness (and joys!) of the world, and are doing something about them, then you are embracing the Saturnian side of things–and right now, getting down with Saturn is the most productive place to be (Vesta sesq Juno, Mars parallel Pluto and qnx Uranus, Mercury semi-sq Uranus and contra-parallel Saturn)

Saturday’s word image is a billiard ball. An odd thing, as on its own it’s really meaningless–it’s only when you have a table and cues and many other balls that this item gains real meaning. Maybe this is a reminder that ourselves and our lives are simply part of a much larger ‘game’, urging modesty in assessing our impact or judging the importance of other components. Or maybe it’s an admonition to take those Saturnian steps, to assemble what’s needed to create meaningful play–which is what occurs when we combine Saturn and Neptune in appropriate ways.

Sunday’s word image is the ghost in the machine. What’s haunting you? Or is it some energy that seems to infest an effort or a process that should be easily controlled? Or is this something within the mentality that’s exerting an unwanted effect? Whatever form it takes, what does it tell you must be acknowledged, before your ‘machine’ will be ghost-free?

Have a wonderful, ghost-free weekend!

‘Oyster Sloop, Cos Cob’ Childe Hassam c1902 {{PD}}

The Weekend is relatively quiet (in terms of upset or conflict), offering the chance to take action or make choices that heal, a chance to adjust our thinking so that it brings maximum empowerment, and brings results from being innovative, spontaneous, or ‘ourselves’ that are distinctly ‘profitable’ (in all senses of the word). All we have to do is acknowledge those things within our material environment that we have been ignoring, denying, or that have fostered rage, and while accepting that the past can’t be altered, seeing the future is still ours to shape as we will (Saturday Pluto perfects a trine to the NN/ sxt to SN, while on Sunday Saturn nov Black Moon Lilith, Mars trines Chiron, Venus sxt Uranus, Merc enters Gemini and qnx Juno)

BlackJava_female,_1905The word image for the 11th is a hen. Chickens are a particularly productive and useful (from a human point of view) creature, but we don’t always treat them respectfully. Aside from often raising them in deplorable conditions and eating them (which is really the ultimate disrespect, isn’t it? though maybe it’s worse that we feed them to each other, forcing them to become cannibals, a completely unnatural state for them), we talk about a coward (or goad someone who’s not a coward, but whom we’d like to control) by calling them ‘chicken’, we ‘play chicken’ by driving or running straight toward someone else, daring them to veer away, we talk about someone being ‘mad as a wet hen’, meaning they are totally upset but also unable to effectively address what disturbs them, and we describe as ‘henpecked’ those who allow a woman to have a greater say in their lives than they do. It’s likely you’ll have some sort of visceral response to at least one of these hen-related concepts; look at what it tells you about a personal ‘sore spot’, and watch for the chicken as a symbol, alerting you or showing you a synchronous moment, throughout the day.

The word image for the 12th: imagine yourself on a bench at the park on a lovely, breezy day. A piece of paper dances in the air and then flies toward you, catching on your leg. You pick it up; what does it say? This exact scenario happened to someone I know. The paper was the last page of a letter describing the estrangement between two lovers; it ended with the sentence, ‘Why are we still fighting?’ Your paper may say something else, or you may resonate to that closing sentence, concerning something important to you over which you’ve experienced conflict, and why that conflict is still going on.

Étienne Tournes -' La Toilette' 1874 {{PD}}

Étienne Tournes -‘ La Toilette’ 1874 {{PD}}

What goes on Saturday the 4th is concentrated on the New Moon and the beginnings it offers, with only mild influences from other contacts–those other contacts first: Juno is contra-parallel Ceres, suggesting power struggles over who holds authority, and possibly some Willful demonstrations of trying to move the immovable; and Uranus semi-squares Vesta, suggesting it may be tough for those on a rebellious or independent streak to honor what they truly care about (read: some may transgress, in the name of ‘being myself’). So we enter the weekend with lots of struggle, much of it internal and aimed at exercising our Will. Then comes the New Moon.

Conjoining of Moon and Sun in Gemini perfects just a hair (that’s a technical term!) before 8 PM PDT of the 4th at 14 Gemini 53, and happens to have Venus conjoined by degree, but still not yet perfecting her meeting with the Sun. This triplicity is trine Zeus, loosely sesquiquadrate Juno and Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio, in wide quincunx to Pluto, and square Jupiter and Neptune and opposed Saturn-Earth, these latter four bodies constituting that Grand Cross we’ve been so caught up in. All this suggests that the new beginnings of this New Moon are intricately connected to the experience of the Grand Cross, specifically concerning issues of ambition and desire as they concern ‘the Other’ (Zeus in Libra), of digging for the reasons behind personal empowerment or its lack (Juno in Scorpio), of exploring (or being forced to explore) what we may have hidden, been in denial of, or been enraged by (BML in Scorpio), and what, if anything, we can do to alter circumstances (Pluto in Cap).

The New Moon event is thus simply the outgrowth of what has been gestating/ developing with the tension of the Grand Cross, particularly as this applies to the social role or attempts at expanding one’s world (Jupiter), the current reality (Saturn-Earth), and the creativity or clarity of connection to reality (Neptune), and all in terms of how this plays out in relationships and/ or finances. In short, we find out something about ourselves, about what we want, and who we want, and how effective (or not) we’ve been at getting it.

The best thing, though, is that we may be able to look at ourselves in the mirror and, no matter what the Grand Cross has revealed or delivered, see the beauty and worth reflected there (Venus), with new ideas occurring (Gemini) as to how that beauty and worth matters to our world. If we have an iffy relationship with Venus, we may be able to make peace with her now; an ability to Love Ourselves may emerge that adds incomparably to a positive interpretation of our own gifts and Beingness. Those who have a too-Venus oriented view already may find themselves judging the worth of everything around them, and so devaluing the Venusian intangibles that help balance our relationships and our view of the world; this is the signal to step back, and see that not all that holds worth can necessarily be seen.

'Two Girls Playing' Peter Ilsted c1900 {{PD}}

‘Two Girls Playing’ Peter Ilsted c1900 {{PD}}

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘Two Dutch Children Talking To Each Other, Exchanging Their Knowledge’. The fact that these are children in the symbol right away tells us that the knowledge these two are sharing may be incomplete, lack nuance, or could be innocent of the darker side of matters, though an exchange of what’s known is exactly what Gemini energy is made for. That could imply that information acquisition is a vital part of the New Moon event, but should perhaps be accepted with some caution: despite honesty and good intentions, what we receive may not be as sophisticated or complete as we really need. And why Dutch children? At the time these symbols were received by Elsie Wheeler and Marc Edmund Jones, the Dutch had a reputation (at least in the U.S., where the symbol divining occurred) for a spare, clean, direct, and a little bit cheap approach to life (phrases like ‘going Dutch’ are still in use, though I’d like to point out that stereotypes are just that, with no relation to real people or cultures), and that suggests that within the symbol we may be dealing with bare-bones knowledge, things that are certainly true, but that don’t carry the shades of meaning needed to truly understand something–or, that something important has been held back, a ‘cheap’ attitude toward info sharing. The implication is that what is conveyed by the New Moon is somehow incomplete, and knowing that will prevent us acting before we’ve acquired the details and shading that will give our knowledge necessary depth.

By the 5th we see both the Sun and Venus completing a sesquiquadrate to Juno, and yet they have not yet perfected conjunction themselves. This lends the day an outward-looking attitude, one that may tangle with, even challenge, the empowerment or assertive rights of others, from a sense of Self-satisfaction, a ‘knowing’ of who we are, that feels a bit like superiority–but as long as we also recognize Mars novile Zeus, we can subdue the ego in clever ways that get us what we want, and still allow others to do the same–and this is probably the ‘Go!’ point that what we learned about yesterday (per the Sabian Symbol) and were waiting for.

The 28th Venus is highlighted, as she squares Pallas, conjoins Vesta, and contra-parallels Pluto. Massive, possibly permanent but certainly serious change begins, or we see precursors appear, or change is possibly just threatened; but in any case, affected relationships and/ or sources of income will never be the same–or at least, we won’t think about them in the same way (Venus in Gemini). We may do some ultra-somber contemplating of what’s truly important to us, and to what and whom we’d like to dedicate our life energies–and the only problem is, we may not honor what’s practical or wise in the process, and so miss an important component of the equation. Luckily, we do have an avenue to wisdom-access: we go through Nature, or through those areas where we hold authority in our own lives–it’s this connection to unseen but felt power that will guide us well.

‘Kiwi fruits’ André Karwath aka Aka Own work CC BY-SA 2.5

Today’s word image is an uncut kiwi fruit. Who would think to eat this, with its strange skin like some hirsute link between beast and plant? Look for something in your life that on the surface you might pass by as unappealing–give it a second look, and open up its possibilities, to experience something new, unusual, and startlingly beautiful in pattern and brightness.

May 29th we may lack the sense of irony necessary to see how truly odd it is that we are seeking empowerment through the very things that anger us, or that we resolutely ignore or deny connection to or interest in. Healing, which includes catching on to the inappropriate form or means of empowerment we’re seeking, involves bucking Nature or turning away from the advice of authorities or those in charge–which, especially if we are types who are sensitive to ‘the Other’, may not be so easy to do (Juno conjoined Black Moon Lilith, Chiron contra-parallel Ceres)

Anne Vallayer-Coster – ‘A still life of mackerel, glassware, a loaf of bread and lemons on a table with a white cloth’ 1787 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a pristine white cloth, beautifully rendered in an old painting. The care with which detail is conveyed in some Art is amazing, sometimes to the point where it overpowers the message or subject of the picture. What detail is drawing undue attention, and so taking your mind and heart off the real issue?

On the 30th issues of what’s smart or practical may challenge our priorities, and certainly, our thoughts on how to achieve need tailoring, specifically in terms of how we can both meet our goals and retain power over them. There is a basic push-pull dynamic underlying almost everything today that could lend a sense of disorientation; we may see everything in ‘either/ or’ terms, or male/ female, or active/ passive, Will vs. reward, or beauty vs. action–but what we need to remember is that the world doesn’t actually break down into such a neat dichotomy, with each ‘side’ sharing many commonalities with its apparent opponent. Find those mutual points, and you’ll have your way to smooth out difficulties and honor both what you are devoted to, and what is truly wise (Vesta sq Pallas, Venus contra-parallel Mars, Merc qnx Zeus and trine Pluto)

Today’s word image is a child’s ride-in fire engine with the pedals completely rusted out. What thing used to bring you carefree delight, that allowed you to exercise your imagination, that maybe even offered a sense of psychic ‘rescue’, that just doesn’t ‘work’ anymore? Joy is easily lost when we start to take ourselves and our goals too seriously–take time out to do something others might consider childish, but that you know will reconnect you to a sense of play.

Your Weekend 21-23 May 2016 Icebergs and Wreck in Sunset

The title of this painting says it all. ‘Icebergs and Wreck in Sunset’ Frederic Edwin Church 1860 {{PD}}

Though we’ve already discussed the Full Moon, that isn’t the only influence we’ll feel on the 21st. Whether we are more attuned to just one or two of these, pummeled by the Fist, or we are aware of all of them, there’s one thing today’s aspects have in common: they feel like a crisis. Those things we’ve been ashamed of, wished to ignore, or that have made us angry (and with which we haven’t dealt) in the past suddenly imply that there are secrets, depths, that may make the issues much worse than we ever thought; or maybe we feel that keeping to our values will wreck our empowerment options; or it could be we perceive a threat to home, mate, family, or to a cause dear to us (or dear to our Self-image, as something we use to define ourselves); or perhaps the social sphere, a lack of knowledge, or a failed or unreachable opportunity is jarring our concept of our own personal power, authority, and threatens to remove what we’ve ’til now seen as our territory.

And the level of aggression involved, the level of destruction threatened if we don’t comply by standing down in some energetic or psychic sense, is extraordinary–and though it will obviously have an external component, we must consider it may be in our own minds, or even more likely, a form of our own anger or aggression, bouncing back at us. We know this because of the way each aspect circles back around to something very personal: our values, our ego, our fear, our Self-image.

We are clever Beings; we know how to protect our viewpoint, justify our interests and our objectives, and for a few of us, at least, this is the origin of our sense of assault. For some this is an answer to our own failure to go forward when the way was clear–maybe we thought the ‘opening’ would last forever, maybe we were trying to do it ‘right’ and didn’t see that making the move, not our form, was most important–and just maybe we are unable at this time to see how truly responsible we are for our own situation. It’s much easier to say the reasons for where we are are ‘out there’, but the reality is, we got here by making choices (or by refusing to make choices)–and so ends another depressing (though it should be empowering, knowing it’s all in our own hands!) sermon on Self-responsibility–no wonder I’m not more popular!

There’s a Fist of God, apex Vesta, base of Zeus and Pluto, closely aligned the 21st that the Sun comes along and lights up the 22nd and 23rd. We juggle ambitions and desires, our very real need to feel powerful in our own world, and factors that may renew or destroy, and we find that what really matters are those things to which we’re dedicated–and then we must decide if we will honor those with our choices, or not. Real-world results, with real-world measures of our own power, authority, and reach, appear, but we need to be careful; what draws our attention may send us the false message that rebellion, Self-absorption, or chaos are positive responses, that they will empower. The true nature of the situation, though, is in the basics, what actually lies before us, with our best course of action one that finds ways for us to express our uniqueness and our spontaneity within those relationships and life structures we actually find sacred; that is, there’s no need for disruption or destruction, if we are clear on what we truly care about.

A note on the station direct of Mercury: it occurs AM of the 22nd PDT at 14 Taurus 20, and makes no aspects moving forward (other than receiving a quincunx from the Moon) for some time. This suggests forward motion makes for a sense of aloneness, a sense of ‘I’ve just awakened, now where is everyone?’ Don’t be surprised if in the first few days after direction communication seems more smoke signals and carrier pigeons than direct talk and clear terms–it all evens out, soon enough.

(Perfecting the 21st: Black Moon Lilith enters Scorpio, the Fist, Jupiter qnx Ceres, Mars opp Vesta, Vesta qnx Juno; the 22nd Merc stations direct, Uranus nov Vesta, Saturn trine Ceres, Sun contra-parallel Saturn and conjoins Vesta to become part of the Fist; the 23rd the Sun nov Uranus, Venus semi-sq Ceres )

Word images for–the 21st: a phone booth stands, still maintained and in service, in a deserted warehouse district. This implies that despite our sense of communications as difficult pre-direction of Merc, we should be reassured that some area we thought it was ‘no use’ trying to communicate in is still active, if not easily accessible.

–the 22nd: a girl sits under an oak, counting acorns. Isn’t that just like us, to be so fixated on new beginnings, and so readily taking for granted what is already grown, that we put our attention on the ‘might be-s’, rather than what is? Here we may be admonished not to put too much stock in the potential of an ‘acorn’ well before it’s shown itself to be anything but food for squirrels 🙂

–the 23rd: a table is set for a meal that never happens; everything collects dust. Where have you created the perfect ‘setting’ but failed to follow through and use it to its best advantage? This may take a little introspection, a little thought, as it’s not always obvious to us where we may have made all the preparations, except for the ones that will really ‘serve’ some purpose.

If you want to order something, do it now–I’ll be unavailable from noon of the 21st through evening of the 23rd, and no one will be overseeing the Press, so no questions or queries will be answered, and no book orders filled, until my return to the keyboard. Thank you for a really lovely spring–and here’s to summer!

See and order books here, see services here, and donate at right–thanks, and enjoy your weekend!

Saturday the 14th we may find those things we find sacred in life, that we honor, bedeviled by every little thing we’ve shoved under the rug, ignored, are in denial about, or see as an injustice we are helpless to remedy–and by extension, these inconvenient realities seep into our relationship interactions, and even into our financial ventures. It seems the very agenda we’ve assiduously avoided is thrust upon us through our relationships–and it hurts. Come clean, if possible; approaching everything with a conscious intent to heal (or at least not harm) within our encounters will help us handle just about everything that may come up (Vesta quincunx Black Moon Lilith and parallel Venus, Sun sextile Chiron)

Today’s word image is this:

Are you having a genuinely moving and profound experience, or making a big deal out of nothing? That’s the question to ask ourselves today. And don’t be too quick to answer; when we want to see ourselves as one thing (spiritual! sensitive!) or another (cool and casual, blasé) we may be inclined to filter our answer through our desired Self-image, rather than pause to give an honest report.

We may believe everything will be nothing but ponies. ‘Two ponies on Winter Hill, Bolton, UK’ 2013 Photo by OZMON CC BY-SA 3.0

On Sunday the 15th we may believe everyone needs to hear our advice and that what’s ahead will be nothing but ponies and ice cream, or we may become unreasonably angry when someone points out that what we’re doing isn’t very smart; their contention is we’re squandering our future. We, and everyone else, are going on instincts, displaying all our ‘blind spots’, and unlikely to have any clear idea of ‘what is’; without even realizing it we’re decking things out in our own personal druthers and biases. Take the day off, if possible, tread lightly with others, and understand that our ‘vision’ is heavily distorted today–so don’t make any aesthetic choices that can’t easily be undone (don’t spur-of-the-moment put down a non-refundable deposit on a new car or castle, and don’t sign up for tattoos or plastic surgery!) (Mars square Pallas, Venus trine the NN, Sun conjoined Sedna)

http://www.pdpics.com/photo/38-gautam-buddha-sculpture/ Thanks, Rudy!

Saturday there is an aura of contrary feeling floating around just about everything; we want to alter what we’ve just concluded is wise, destroy what’s practical, flip the social order and point to its underbelly of injustices and hidden-in-plain-sight secrets, and we find dealing with either Love or Money somehow hurtful, as current events scrape at old scar tissue. The worst part may be that we are well aware we may not be acting in our own best interests. Help! How do we handle this? A couple of quotes from Buddha may help: “Ardently do today what must be done. Who knows? Tomorrow, death comes.” Here the instruction is hidden within an admonition to know oneself; how else but through Self-knowledge will we be able to discern “what must be done”? That removes the arbitrary, the impulsive, and the fickle, leaving us only with necessity and the imperative.

Something else must be considered, though: “The world is afflicted by death and decay. But the wise do not grieve, having realized the nature of the world.” A great part of dealing successfully with today’s influences is seated in knowing, recognizing, and actually embracing the impermanence of things. We are much less confused, angered, avaricious, or frightened when we keep this idea at the center of all perceptions. Thanks, Gautama Buddha! Your advice makes today much easier (Pluto semi-sq Pallas, Jupiter contra-parallel Black Moon Lilith, Venus semi-sq Chiron, Sun trine Pluto)

Today’s word image is a dragonfly. Watch for their presence signalling synchronicities, a moment of knowledge or hyper-alertness that offers insights to current realities, and a spark of inspiration, that just hovers in, and may speed away, if we don’t take notes.

Sunday the 8th the mind, ideas, mental perceptions are all in harmony with our life direction–but just what does that mean when Mercury is retrograde and our mental faculties are less than sharp? If we don’t think, but instead take a receptive approach, allowing thoughts and ideas to spring fully formed into the mind (brought there on currents of feeling or intuition), then we may make some remarkably good plans, have some productive ideas, and communicate with precision and true understanding, and all of it will shape the direction we’re headed. Just remember, the keyword there is, ‘may’ (Merc trine NN)

Today’s word image is a blue handbag. A purse (and we’re including man-purses, here!) is something within which we carry what we think we may need, out in the world. Sometimes in trying to be prepared for the unforseen we pack in far more than we need, and we can later regret the weight of it all. Too, we can have a tendency to put things in repeatedly while never bothering to look and see what’s already in there, to clean things out. The color blue implies we might keep sad things there, close to us, or that we carry things to soothe ourselves and others. Today consider what it is that you carry with you each time you go out in public; ask yourself why, assess whether what you find is truly needed, be willing to look in the dark depths and unused corners, and thereby lighten your load

Saturday it’s all about relationships: how much do we wrangle over material matters, restrictions, and the past, how assertive should we be in addressing those things we (or our partner or another significant individual) have ignored or been in denial about, how aggressively to root out injustices, and how much to value smarts, how much practicality, especially if neither wins us love? With the Moon in Aquarius and so many passionate energies in retrograde, we may opt for the cool intellectual approach, but be forewarned: only those in love with our minds will respond as we’d like; everyone else may feel talked down to or frozen out, in which case we’d do better, with Venus brand new in Taurus, to go the comfort route, and offer everyone a slice of cake (Perfecting today: Mars nov Black Moon Lilith, Venus sxt Pallas, sesq Saturn, and nov SN)

Saturday’s word image is a girl chasing a big white goose; she finally catches it, and it nips her hard enough to draw blood. Obvs, right? What are we going after that will only cause injury if we actually get it? We need to ask a few questions: has this happened before, and we persist anyway? Are we aware of the sharp little teeth in that beak? Is there a reason we’re ‘pursuing our goose’, or is it a power play, or is it aesthetic, as we imagine holding the downy-white body close? Is this really ‘our goose’ to chase? And do we have plans for after we catch it, liking eating it, or stuffing a pillow with its feathers? I know, the goose symbol can quickly become tiresome, but the instructional value lies in giving us some distance from the situation in our lives that may correspond–and it urges us to be very sure there’s a purpose behind the pursuit, so that we’re not just wasting our time, chasing a silly goose.

Sunday we weigh our own empowerment against that of others, and we weigh communications against our highest values, requiring an absolute standard of honesty and truth. What the hell are we expecting? Demanding everyone bare their Soul is a bit unreasonable, especially considering we may feel those ‘rules’ don’t apply to us. We’re just a little confused today, imagining ourselves as all powerful (or as that being our rightful state) and we may set the bar far too high for the health and well-being of our relationships. On the plus side, we can be inspired by our own ideals to be our ‘best Self’, and expressing our creativity gives a nod to who we truly are, letting others see that most beautiful version of us, too (Sun sxt Neptune, Merc conjoined Vesta, Juno qnx Ceres)

Today’s word image is an airplane flying very high, glinting in the noonday sun. What does that make you think of? Getting away? A modern scourge carrying disease lickety-split around the planet? The wonders of engineering? A crash waiting to happen? That man was never meant to act like a bird? Are you surprised that such a heavy object can leave the ground? I am, and aside from any personal association you make with the image, perhaps what we should look for is something astonishing that happens right in front of us; make an attempt to see things with new eyes, and there might be any number of events in your world that amaze you.

Let’s just call this a very good day, with chances to expand our world, opportunities to express our most unique characteristics, and new and original ways to gain. There are only two sticky spots: the potential for our own egos to wreak havoc in finances or relationships, and aesthetic difficulties (largely surrounding our ability to perceive beauty or worth) in creative endeavors; we are, just temporarily, ‘taste blind’. As always, go with your strengths (likely best enjoyed in matters of the Houses in the natal chart ruled by Jupiter and Uranus), and consider leaving the idea of making your Will felt in relationships or money matters, as well as expressing through aesthetic choices, for another time. (Jupiter parallel Uranus, and Venus parallel both of them, Venus sesq Mars and contra-parallel Neptune)

Today’s word image is a branch of lilac in full bloom, lying in the street gutter. Is there something wonderful, at its natural peak, in complete ‘flower’, that we’re not treating as well as we should? This could even be something about ourselves that we are disdainful of, that if we would just ‘pick it up’ (have respect for it, in some sense) could be quite beautiful.
