'Ceres' Alice Pike Barney 1901 {{PD}}

‘Ceres’ Alice Pike Barney 1901 {{PD}}

A Little Lunar Essence for 27 September: 4 AM PDT the Scorpio Moon sextiles Pluto. It’s time to purge! –the emotions, the pipeline to intuition, and the Self of secrets that are weighing us down. Just let it out. 10 AM PDT the Moon trines Chiron and quincunxes Uranus. We are attuned to hurt, but if we make a conscious effort, we can turn that energy toward healing, it’s polar opposite–all we need to apply is a unique, original, or unusual approach that allows us to take a view beyond our wounds. Noon the Moon squares Jupiter. Experiences in the social sphere are not the best–stick with what you know, and what you’re sure of. 5:30 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Ceres. We are in touch with Mother Nature, Gaia, our own sense of authority, and can negotiate purely by ‘feel’ should we need or want to. 9 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Saturn and semi-sextiles Pallas. Restraint is smart–it’s that simple.

And a Little AstroEssence for the 28th: Our priorities and interests seem contrary to those of the social circle, and what info we learn or knowledge we glean may be destructive in its effects or concentrated on gaining or holding onto power. Efforts at expansion and control of others or our surroundings seem to threaten what we truly care about—so we step away, thinking we can avoid a problem, but instead find we’ve misunderstood the stakes involved. Stick to facts and adjust efforts to focus on material changes, results, and solid, working-with-reality matters; assume that you are operating under at least a few illusions, that the worth of things is fuzzy at best, and proceed with that kind of caution in mind. (Perfecting today: Vesta contra-parallel Jupiter and semi-square Pluto, Sun quincunx Neptune and contra-parallel Venus, Earth sesquiquadrate Saturn)

A brief article from the Weekly:

More on Eclipses: Expectations
Too often we approach eclipses as some kind of change-your-luck, reach-the-holy-grail, wash-away-your sins kind of astrological event. They are nothing more than New and Full Moons where we just happen, from our vantage point on Earth, to witness one body blocking another, and so cutting off that body’s light. Is that a big deal astrologically? Yes and no—it can signify big, even Earth-shaking, changes and wipe-outs, new starts and major endings, but we have to get past this idea that this kind of massive re-model of our potentials and our lives will occur at each eclipse set.

It’s really as rare as any other lightning strike or lottery win; we’ll have a few of those scattered through life, but mostly eclipses will represent the more subtle or less monumental changes that are part and parcel of every day living. Too much concentration on eclipses as super-powerful comes too close to endowing them with a magical effect they really don’t (and can’t) have—and it’s not a good way to look at the Universe, as if we are waiting for externals to rescue us, or bring us something mystical or extraordinary that will change our lives—really, we have to do the changing ourselves.

We must also remember that even though we are fixated on certain life subjects, that doesn’t mean an eclipse set will address them; sometimes it does, but just as often it points us in another direction entirely. This is a clue to us that the Universe doesn’t necessarily see our agenda as the important one—and maybe hints that what we are finding important in the moment isn’t really important at all. If you’ll let them, eclipses will help steer you in the direction of what you’re really facing, and what your real opportunities are.

Johannes Vermeer – Lady Writing a Letter with Her Maid c1670 {{PD}}

14 September what we’ve learned from the past can guide us in adjusting our priorities now; if we don’t use some sort of guideline we run the risk of engaging in erratic, disruptive behavior that risks fouling our own ambitions and desires. Be open to change, even transformation, that’s available in relationships, to apply to finances, and through a general atmosphere of Love—really, accepting the need for reform is the only way to access the treasure—feelings are much more reliable than thoughts at this time—material matters reveal all we need to know and see. (Pallas parallel and Vesta quincunx the South Node, Mars sesquiquadrate Uranus and semi-square Zeus, Venus trine Pluto, Mercury contra-parallel Venus, Earth quincunx Black Moon Lilith)

Today’s image is a letter, addressed and sealed, never intended to be mailed. Do you have something to say to someone and it needs saying, for your own peace? The reality is that if we believe that the only closure comes from expressing our feelings directly to someone, then we’re not talking about expressing, we’re really hoping for a reaction or to engage with them–we’re not looking for peace, we’re looking for enmeshment. If you have something to say, say it–to the air, in a letter, shouting from on top of a mountain–and then let it go. True Self-expression doesn’t need an audience–and as that old saying goes, what we think of someone else is none of their business.

Sells_Floto_Circus_presents_M'lle_Beeson,_a_marvelous_high_wire_Venus,_performance_poster,_192110 September our actions and choices are just a little off; we know better and still somehow manage to make a poor decision. It’s not a disaster, but does make us feel as if we’re not in control. What should reassure us is that perceptions, especially mental ones, are exaggerated and may be influenced by what we want to think rather than by reality; our own desires may lead us in entirely the wrong direction. Too, relationships and financial matters retreat under a haze of wishful thinking, illusion, or imaginative optimism—don’t make any pronouncements on these at this point, but do explore ways to creatively expand income and take relationships in a direction that’s closer to ideal. Artists and creators of all types, you have an opportunity to wield the creative in a highly conscious manner if your goal is earning or creating beauty. (Perfecting Today: Mars semi-square Pallas, Venus opposed Neptune, Mercury sextile Jupiter and parallel Zeus)

‘Point Lobos’ 1920 Bertha Boyntom Lum Library of Congress {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: 4 September relationship demands, what we want, and our means of earning may all violate the needs of the home front, the mate, highest values, or those things we find sacred—and yet our minds are set, and unwilling to bend to accommodate those values or needs. We find ourselves in a spot that feels restricted and that seems contrary to what we would normally want or support—but this is when we ask ourselves if that’s really true. A review of our actual priorities, and of what’s truly restricting us, is in order. (Perfecting today: Venus contra-parallel Vesta, Mercury semi-square Saturn)
Lunar movement: 11 AM PDT the Capricorn Moon trines the Sun, giving us a period of clarity. Note what you’re aware of now, and how you perceive it, as your viewpoint is likely accurate (unless the figurative Sun is in your eyes!) 3 PM PDT the Moon opposes Juno and sextiles Vesta. Are we butting heads needlessly? That’s the question–anything that doesn’t directly empower and respect our values should be let go. This is the beginning of an Earth Grand Cross with Juno, Uranus, and Zeus; the Moon also sextiles Chiron. We are trying to assert the Self and balance this need with our chances for ambition fulfillment–the unexpected gets in the way, and our own wounds, or our fear of hurting others, make us hesitant. This all happens in ways that affect the material situation. Going after what you want is fine, as long as you are acutely aware of where your territory ends and that of others begins; accomplishment only comes when we operate with full knowledge of others’ rights and privileges. 9 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Saturn. This is a point when we can give emotions structure and containment; make sure they take fluid, rather than rigid, shapes.
Grand Trine with Vesta-Juno-Chiron=This reinforces the idea that to successfully empower ourselves we need to be sensitive to the wounds and sacred places of others, as well as making sure our choices honor our Chirotic gifts and our own priorities.
Today’s image is a cave-dwelling salamander that lives in the dark and breathes through its skin. Look for unusual ways to accomplish the usual and necessary; this will evolve talents with little effort.

Your ECLIPSE Weekend Sampler 30-31 August 2014: Don’t Abdicate

Don’t abdicate, for instance, your responsibility to put that fire out. from ‘The Chronicles of St. Denis’ 12th century Artist unknown {{PD}}

From ‘Attachments—Asking Why’, an article on relationships in the current ECLIPSE:

We’ve talked about Ceres’ sex-deadening energy specifically when it contacts the Mars, chart ruler, or Sun or Sun ruler of a male from a female’s chart, or within a same sex interaction in either person’s chart to the other’s, but Ceres can bring her overwhelming Earth Mama or directly maternal vibe by moving aspect, and so temporarily put a damper on drives, unless the individuals can relate to an elemental form of sexuality—if the involved individuals are too civilized, too strongly identify caring with mothering, or are too frightened of Nature and natural behaviors (these make some people feel out-of-control), then a Ceres transit can really gum things up, the worst part being that one might feel the change is permanent, rather than transitory.

Just a Little Lunar Essence for 30 August: the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:53 AM Pacific time of the 30th. 1 PM PDT the Moon trines Neptune. We are open to deep feeling, inspiration, and creative change–whatever moves you at this point is likely to be very positive–unless you let yourself be mislead. Vet your ideas by imagining potential outcomes; if they’re all good, you’ve got a green light. 3 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Ceres and trines Earth. We connect with our power by connecting, literally, with the earth. Garden, work with clay, walk outside barefoot, swim in a natural body of water, plant something–it will bring power, balance, and peace.

31 August relationships may support us, and our money and/ or talent supports our skills, but only if we refuse to dwell on our wounds or to think like losers! At this time the world really is ours to make of it what we will; don’t abdicate your immense power to declare your territory as your own in favor of playing victim or out of a mistaken belief that it’s egotistical to declare yourself—there’s nothing modest or virtuous about pretending to be weaker or more confused than we actually are. (Perfecting today: Venus semi-square Pallas, Mercury contra-parallel Chiron and semi-square Vesta, Earth trine Ceres)

27 August it’s all about power, and the power we imagine we have is for all intents and purposes what we actually wield. That means a couple of things: those who believe they are powerful really are; those who have no conscience or awareness of others as separate human beings are actually dangerous; and those who believe they have no power will find that fantasy (for it is a fantasy, to think we are helpless) playing out, too. Talk, and what we see, reflects only a small portion of the power-shifts going on; assume what’s obvious is like an iceberg, that there’s a lot more to things that we don’t see.

As well, there’s basic conflict between opposites; expect butting heads rather than cooperation, even when getting along would be easier. (Perfecting today: Neptune parallel Ceres, Venus square Mars, Mercury semi-square Ceres, Sun contra-parallel Ceres and Neptune)

‘Undergrowth with Two Figures’ Vincent Van Gogh 1890 {{PD}}

24 August we see some raw, unadulterated, Self-focused (but not necessarily selfish) drive around ambitions and desire fulfillment come forward—we may just observe this in relationships, or may feel it ourselves—and some may become intent on making relationships or ambition scenarios payoff. The problem will be that thinking will be contrary to effective ambition fulfillment—it may in fact be so contrary to it that it crashes any efforts we make—and yet, pursuit of goals and wants isn’t out of the question, it just has to be done by feeling and instinct, like negotiating a pitch-dark room. Already launched ambition efforts may rake in Love or Money. Unique Self-expression suffers only to the extent that it fails to follow our own highest values and standards—if it does, we might be able to heal something long ago damaged and waiting for closure. (Venus sextile Zeus, Mercury contra-parallel Zeus, opposed Chiron, and quincunx Uranus, Sun sesquiquadrate Uranus and contra-parallel Vesta)

Today’s image is a young man, all alone, walking down a muddy road; in every direction, as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but a sea of yellow grass. No matter how alone or isolated we feel, we are still going forward, still going somewhere. It’s our own hubris that lets us think we know our destination; it’s much more natural that we don’t.

The ECLIPSE Daily for 20 August 2014: Wisdom in Dark Places

Keep your eyes open–the Trickster doesn’t always wear a bright, diamond-patterned jumpsuit. Edgar Degas – Arlequin danse, c. 1890 {{PD}}

20 August wisdom is found in dark places, and in standing up for ourselves, though one place we won’t find good alternatives offered is on the home front or by the mate; it might be too much a time when everyone is focused on their own creative empowerment, and so what they share will speak more of their own insecurities and power situations than anything else. Avoid authorities today; they won’t be any help. Stand on your own two feet, though, and you can make dreams a reality. (Perfecting today: Pallas semi-square Black Moon Lilith, Vesta contra-parallel Pallas, Neptune trine Juno, Mercury contra-parallel Ceres)

The Moon enters Cancer at 1:45 AM PDT of the 20th. 9:30 AM PDT the Cancer Moon squares Pallas and trines Ceres. We may be trundling along, feeling pretty satisfied (the Cancer Moon can have that effect) when suddenly we realize we’re doing something (or allowing something to happen) that is decidedly unwise–and further, someone is increasing their power or reach because of it. Deployment of skills is called for, along with a Willingness (no, a complete commitment) to claim our own power and territory, and stand ready to defend it. Just the readiness makes conflict unlikely. 2 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Juno and forms a Water Grand Trine with Neptune and Vesta. We are empowered specifically through our emotions; equal parts creativity and dedication make up the recipe that offers truly effective empowerment options. 9 PM PDT the Moon opposes Pluto and sextiles Mercury, catching Venus at the midpoint of the two. What’s communicated, what we hear, shows us exactly where the darkness lies, who is at the heart of it, what can be gained, and exactly what needs to change–“wisdom is found in dark places”. Now it’s up to us.

Today’s image is a Trickster figure, who awards you something favorable. Watch for this person, and thank them–Tricksters aren’t always out to fool you, you know 🙂

Your Weekend ECLIPSE Sampler 16-17 August 2014: Power Distribution

'The Pale Complexion of True Love' 1899  Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale {{PD}}

‘The Pale Complexion of True Love’ 1899
Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale {{PD}}

For Saturday, 16 August: determining power situations and power distribution seems vital, and yet we have a major distraction to all this in creative expression in the home or through a cause we support; the wish to express creative ideas takes our time and attention from dealing with issues of authority and from fully owning our own power position—and that easily creates problems. It might help to remain aware of two things: communications may be incomplete and erratic, so we can’t take for granted that we know the whole score (it’s almost like a mini-Merc retro effect), and we need to do whatever smart alternative the reality picture commands—to ignore it in favor of creative expression at this time is to court unpleasant mix-ups in agreements and to risk having our own power of choice usurped by the quick and the sneaky. (Ceres parallel the North Node, Neptune trine Vesta, Saturn semi-square Pallas, Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus)

And for Sunday the 17th: we finally feel an enormous positive shift in the Cosmos—or at least in our little part of it—with the planet of Love and Money meeting the planet of expansion and abundance—so what could go wrong? We have a basic scenario for prosperity, specifically through communicating with or listening to those who hold the power; but difficulties with delusion or deception, fantasy, troubles within the home or with the mate, and instincts that seem to be at odds with the way the world works, may all show against us. The trick may be to keep things, whether relationships or finances, on a power exchange basis—that way it’s clear what’s changing hands—and realize that instinct and imagination sometimes aren’t our friends—at least that’s so when it comes to Money or Love—we need to stay focused on reality to make gains and feel good. (Venus conjunct Jupiter, quincunx Neptune, square Vesta, Mercury sextile Ceres, Sedna square the Sun-Earth axis)

15 August it seems full speed ahead for expressing our power and taking meaningful action, especially toward uncovering the truth, and yet, our minds are a little distanced, critical, focused on details, discerning and materially-oriented, and so easily distracted from the action. The mental attitude is meant to empower, and skews choice toward ambition fulfillment—but in the end what makes a mark is passionate commitment, a willingness to do, especially to build, that colors boldly, but still stays within the lines. (Perfecting today: Mars sextile Pluto, Mercury into Virgo, parallel Juno, and semi-square Zeus)
