Jean Dodal Tarot ‘The Tower’ {{PD}}

Post 10 PM PST of the 5th the Cancer Moon squares Jupiter, giving us an impulse to pull back from expansion activities, probably out of fear. If transiting Jupiter is aspecting any major players in your chart, you need to assess the relationship–if it’s good (easy aspects like trines or sextiles, or in mutual reception with your natal Mercury, or reaching the Midheaven) then the fear may be a little thing I like to call the fear of SUCCESS. Although that’s really a misnomer (we tend to stay far away from what we truly fear) it is akin to the scary sensation of climbing a tower and looking down–we think about how we might fall, rather than that we’ve made it to the top–so you must decide if it’s just this misleading fear, or if it’s a genuine warning to take a step back.

'Waterloo Bridge' Monet 1904 {{PD-Art}}

‘Waterloo Bridge’ Monet 1904 {{PD-Art}}

In last week’s ECLIPSE I said this of today, the 3rd:

We may wake up in the morning with great difficulty recognizing what’s smart, a sensation intact as if it’s always been that way! or the condition of ‘disappearing wisdom’ may creep up on us like a fog on little cat feet (sorry, Mr. Sandburg!) We may react by running around like a chicken with our head cut off, or we may sink back so that our vision turns in to our own interior landscape, and spend our time contemplating what’s missing, what’s gone wrong.

And I don’t know about you, but that’s exactly how I spent it! The fog wasn’t disorienting so much as . . . maybe discouraging, and working was interrupted so many times it’s a wonder I got anything done. I turned inward, all right, in a kind of headache-y contemplation that I’m just now coming out of. I hope your day was better? That doesn’t seem right, my day was actually pleasant, just not the ultra-focused time I so often aim for. What about tomorrow, you ask? This is what I have to say about tomorrow, also from ECLIPSE–and really, if you come here for a glimpse ahead, don’t you deserve the detailed, hour-by-hour rundown?

December 4th plays a lot better, with Ceres entering Gemini by retrograde, and Mercury opposes Sedna and trines Pallas. Even though we feel a return of wisdom, and our reasoning powers seem on target, there is a little thing about sort of losing our minds that may get in the way. Nothing to panic over–sit back if you can, and remind yourself, “All the world is queer (mad crazy)save thee and me, and even thou art a little queer.” –Robert Owen, 1828

Just a Little AstroEssence for Your Weekend 30 November-2 December 2012: ‘Slightly Too Sentimental’

Relax this weekend, Kittens!  'Kitten's Play' by Ronner-Knip c1870 {{PD-Art}}

Relax this weekend, Kittens! ‘Kitten’s Play’ by Ronner-Knip c1870 {{PD-Art}}

A little something for Friday the 30th, Pacific time:

2 PM PST the Cancer Moon squares Uranus, showing us some dissonance arising from our own too rebellious or individualistic nature or seated in a disagreement with the group. Instinct is pushing us in this direction, but higher reason (a Uranian specialty) should tell us that there can be too much of a good thing. Pull back and gain. 4 PM PST the Moon trines Chiron and Saturn, forming a Grand Water Trine. At this point emotional perceptions, reality, and skills combine and intuit a ‘better way to be’ in the world. A lovely time of balance and discrete adjustment.

Saturday, we welcome December:

Just after midnight Luna  opposes Pluto and then quincunxes the Sun. This may shine a light on a harsh reality, or could find us saying, “I would never!” First, never say never isn’t just for James Bond–we non-spies need to remember that disowning darkness or that which repels us invites that very thing into our lives. In this instance our reaction is an emotional one that is probably rooted in a slightly too sentimental view of the world (Cancer), and can be tamed by simply remembering that we are capable of (but choose not to perpetrate) darkness.

And for Sunday, the 2nd:

The Sun opposes Jupiter, and so the Earth conjuncts it. This marks the midpoint of Jupiter’s retrograde cycle, and may be felt as a turning point in Jupiter-related matters; what was withdrawn or exploded (including overblown expectations!) upon our favorite gas giant’s retrograde will re-awaken, we’ll receive an encouraging word, or we may see developments that point to an inevitable, if delayed, return to similar conditions that existed at the outset. Not usually a big effect, but one that can signal both changes and a change in attitude that can assist us, especially on the social front.

15th century {{PD}}

28 November Pallas squares Juno and Venus sextiles Pluto–and that doesn’t even count the Lunar eclipse! These two aspects suggest a tug-of-war between wisdom and empowerment (sounds familiar, of late) and the temptation to sell out in order to feel that power. Let’s just call this a theme that may weave itself into the eclipse material obliquely, challenging already tense psyches with the power/ values/ payoff conundrum.

Red and the Big Bad in conversation. {{PD}}

November 27th may come off like a Big Bad Day, but everything negative we encounter will, without exception, reflect some interior reality of our own. Ego, rage, and an intense desire to change the undesirable will prevail, and conduct in relationships and with money may be decidedly iffy. Mars conjuncts Pluto and sesquiquadrates Sedna, making us blind to our own actions and motivations, while Venus semi-squares Juno and sesquiquadrates Pallas, suggesting that power, love, and money decisions arise from empowerment issues and, too often, from a choice to turn away from what we know to be wise.

Just a Little AstroEssence 26 November 2012: ‘Monitoring Ourselves’

An early example of a composite photo, where the photographer appears to be taking his own picture. By A.H. Wheeler of Berlin, WI 1893 {{PD}}

From the current ECLIPSE:

November 26th we see Venus conjunct Saturn and sesquiquadrate Vesta, while the Sun trines Uranus and the Sun-Earth axis squares Chiron. Either we are suppressing our feelings in relationship due to our highest values, or clamping down on expenditures because of these. The reality picture may tell us things can’t go on as they have been, in the relating or spending departments. We have a strong urge to show our uniqueness, to truly be proud of our individuality, and we may seek to join a group that we feel will enhance this, but the true driving force will be a buried sense of hurt. We are trying to make up for something from long ago–that doesn’t negate the legitimacy of what we’re doing, it only makes it necessary for us to be aware that the wound is, to some extent, playing a role here.

Just a Little Lunar Essence 20 November 2012: ‘Prone to Neptune’

‘Portrait of a Young Woman Reclining’ Klimt c1897 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Pisces at 8:55 AM PST.

Bang! The Moon conjuncts Neptune. If we are at all prone to delusion, confusion, giddiness, or, as they used to say, ‘the vapors’, we will be on our way to a full-blown experience! Immersion in our own most characteristic Neptune expression is a given, but caution and consciousness are our best approach to this most dazzling of influences, just so that we don’t marry when drunk, drive when legally blind, or accidentally (or not) down an anti-freeze cocktail (I’ve got true stories about all of those, though they didn’t happen to me!)–as well, we can connect in an extraordinary way with our ideals, with our creativity, with the Collective, and with spirit–and if we let ourselves go completely into this, we will come out the other side with some valuable understanding, new imaginative horizons, and perhaps a newly-directed empathy.

‘Boats by a Cliff’ Nordstrom 1911 {{PD-Art}}

November 19th we are suddenly faced with a good deal of pressure, and some really good advice–that we will likely as not disregard. Mars opposes Ceres, casting our action urge in a somewhat juvenile light; the temptation may be to act in some way just because Mom or the authorities wouldn’t like it, or we are determined not to respect Mother Nature, simply wanting our way somewhere she’d best be taken into account. We are done in by our own perversity, and the worst part may be that there is some perfectly lovely information, advice, logic, or reasoning at our feet–and we either don’t see it, don’t recognize it as useful, or dismiss it as wrong–gee thanks, Mercury retrograde! Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any way to sort that gem from the dross that seems to flow everywhere–so we will just have to do our best and accept that our judgment is off, one way or another (Vesta square Pallas, Mercury trine Pallas, quincunx Vesta, opposed Sedna).

That’s from the current ECLIPSE; get yours here!

Just a Little AstroEssence for Your Weekend: ‘Opening the Door’

‘Leaving the Studio’ Paxton 1921 {{PD-Art}}

For Friday the 16th:

2 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Pluto, inviting an emotional purge, especially one centered on the things we feel restricted by (Capricorn). A few will use the emotions or intuition to gain power or to destroy, while a handful of others may see a way to transform either the emotional approach or the matters of the House with Cancer on the cusp–if this is you, believe what you see in the ‘doorway’, and step through.

Saturday the 17th:

November 17th the Sun and Mercury meet up in Inferior Conjunction (the meeting that occurs when Merc is retro), and both conjunct the North Node; Mars also sextiles Neptune. This may plant a seed that is specifically oriented toward creative action, either in matters of the House where the Sun-Merc-NN falls (25-26 Scorpio) or in matters of a generally Scorpionic nature–so things that involve research, secrets, mysteries, emotional depths, destruction, re-birth, transformation–and these latter can be of materials or individuals who change or re-make themselves in some way, especially in matters of feeling and ‘heart’. We likely get an energy boost, and start something intense and meaningful to us personally–and perhaps of import to others, as well.

And for Sunday the 18th:

Around 4:30 AM PST the Moon hits the midpoint of Neptune-Mars, which should illuminate, through feeling or intuition, those creative acts, choices, and moves we spawned yesterday. It’s a chance to course-correct so that the whole psyche can support our efforts. 1PM PST the Moon squares Saturn; we either find we need to contain the emotions or we find ourselves hitting a brick wall in the feeling department. Either way it’s almost an invitation to stop trying to navigate everything emotionally, and tune up logic and pure reason–Moon in Aquarius will support this, and we’ll get a fresh, and likely needed, perspective.

Just a Little AstroEssence 15 November 2012: ‘Contradictions’

Just let it all go by, if you can. ‘Woman With Fans’ Manet 1873 {{PD-Art}}

From the current ECLIPSE (order today and get the issue that includes the Solar eclipse analysis from this week’s event); a new issue arrives tonight, Pacific time!

November 15th is a day of adjustment; it may feel like everything doesn’t quite fit. Saturn quincunxes Uranus and Venus quincunxes Pallas; could we have a more clear prescription for bad judgment from ants-in-the-pants? No, we could not. Change will seem necessary, but at the same time inappropriate, What’s smart will cost us and what’s frugal won’t be smart, and neither containment nor anarchy works. Don’t even try to control it, for your blood pressure’s sake–just let it all go by, if you can.

And in the Lunar outlook (also from ECLIPSE):

3 PM PST the Sagittarius Moon sextiles Venus and squares Pallas. This is a peculiar aspect, in that we may feel flush, prosperous, or loved, and so do something immensely unwise in our state of confidence. It’s one of those things we should just sit back and enjoy; that little exciting spark of an idea is probably exactly what you should avoid, right now.

New course offered by Jeremy Neal!
