Busy weekend? You bet! ‘Panorama with the Abduction of Helen Amidst the Wonders of the Ancient World’ van Heemskerck 1535 {{PD}}

18 January is an interesting day, as Merc and the Sun meet late in Capricorn (28 degrees) in Superior Conjunction, then Merc travels on into Aquarius. With no other new aspects perfecting, this puts all our attention on Mercurial issues, in general communication, networking, and all forms of communion/ consorting, as well as any particular Mercurial energies you have in your natal chart. The activity level may insure we get things done, with any matter wrapped up likely corresponding to the matters of the House where the conjunction of Sun and Mercury takes place.

19 January By 11 AM PST the Taurus Moon trines Pluto, making material changes to things to insure more emotional comfort go very well. We can get rid of material burdens and feel a whole lot lighter. 1 PM PST the Moon opposes Saturn, then trines Juno in Earth. This is where allowing the feeling nature to dictate what in the material world must go pays off, with a sense of emotional empowerment that has a physical-world reflection. 7 PM PST the Taurus Moon trines Venus–and we get another, even better payoff, this one in the love, money, or values department. This is a good time for a dinner party, or for any kind of comfortable socializing–it provides a relaxing atmosphere and heightens appreciation for social conventions and comforts like food and drink.

20 January brings Pluto quincunx Vesta, Mars semi-square Uranus and trine Ceres, and Mercury sextile Pallas. Though communications will be straightforward and sensible, we shouldn’t lose sight of how much Self-interest will be part of the equation. It will seem that others are out to alter our highest values, destroy our autonomy, and co-op our power–can you say ‘Paranoia’? ‘Cause that’s what this will amount to, particularly in those who lack overall awareness, or who are highly attuned to the world through their own mental perceptions. What we’ll need to keep in mind is that, though what’s said and done today will definitely reflect others’ point of view and their own personal position, no matter how much this upsets us, rubs us the wrong way, or threatens us, the other party really has no power to act at this time; it’s a matter of destruction occurring only with our consent and co-operation.

21 January 8 AM PST the Gemini Moon trines the Sun and squares Neptune. This is not a time to be lost in fantasy, or even wishful thinking. We can see the reality picture clearly, if we want to–our progress will all stem from this one factor. Noon the Moon sextiles Pallas, re-aligning us with our own inner wisdom. Good! 2 PM PST the Moon trines Mercury, making for a gabfest, or at least some excellent communication–just be conscious of what you’re saying, for best results.

See it all, for only $5 per month–this week with an article on the Great Attractors of the Natal Chart, Venus, Chiron, and the Moon–subscribe! All the cool kids do~

‘Dancing Fairies’ August Malmstrom {{PD-Art}}

Bits and pieces from the current ECLIPSE, for your weekend reading pleasure–have a great one!

On the Jupiter-Saturn riptide:

Through the month of January Jupiter will slow to direction on the 30th, and Saturn will slow to retrograde in mid-February. This may cause something over the next 6 weeks or so like a rip-tide, with the surface current going one direction and the undertow strongly in another. When Jupiter turns direct, we often feel as if the world opens up to us in the area of the chart where this occurs, or in matters of the natal House Jupiter rules. It’s perceptual, rather than actual, in most cases, as Jupiter stands for what we believe, rather than for what is (that’s Saturn’s domain). So if what we believe in one area contradicts what is actually happening in another (the withdrawal, denial of, or concrete manifestation of something in the portion of the chart where Saturn currently transits, or in the House it rules) what do we need to do, to avoid confusion? Anyone? Anyone? We must look for the way/ place in the natal chart where these two energies, Jupiter and Saturn, intersect, in order to understand precisely how we may see what can amount to unwarranted optimism occur–by which I mean that conflict between what appears to be a ‘Go!’ signal but which is actually stalled, denied, or withheld, at least for now, given shape and form specific to the individual chart.

Astrology at the Movies:

MV5BMTM4NjY1MDQwMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTI3Njg3NA@@._V1._SY317_CR0,0,214,317_Midnight in Paris (2011) is ultimately an enjoyable entertainment where the sum of its parts delivers considerably less than we could reasonably expect. As a pure example of Neptune in Pisces, however, it’s flawless, showing all the creative fantasy, idealism, delusion, illusion, romance, weakness, pretensions, and naiveté of writer/ director Woody Allen; it’s like having Allen’s artistic abilities and sensibilities spooned up for us, and we see how thin the broth really is, after all these years. This time around Owen Wilson (Gil) is the sub for Allen, a highly successful Hollywood screenwriter who believes he was meant to write serious literature. On a trip to Paris with his brittle fiancée (Rachael McAdams) and her parents (Kurt Fuller and the wonderful Mimi Kennedy) Gil waxes nostalgic for the jazz age 20s, awed by the idea of some of the biggest artistic names of the century mingling in the City of Lights. A touring car of the era and a clock striking midnight transport Gil to his heart’s desire–and what we get are bombastic and unconvincing speeches from those creative greats, as if they spent their lives speaking of themselves with the hindsight of death and time, and Wilson’s decidedly uncreative writer, who has nothing more to say to his supposed heroes than to gush insipidly over their work. The revelation that everyone sees an era other than the one they live in as golden, as the epitome of romance, is no revelation at all. Gil uses these magical encounters not to explore the personalities of the creatives, or to truly absorb the workings of the era itself, but to (as many a writer, especially a small-minded Self-centered one, would) get Gertrude Stein and Hemingway to read his novel. If his repetitive and shallow exclamations (“Paris is just so beautiful in the rain!” “That’s so amazing!” “Golly, I can’t tell you how great it is to be here!”) tell us anything, it’s that Gil has been in the right place (Hollywood), and succeeded at the right thing for him (“hack work”, as he puts it), all along. Disappointingly, Allen ends the movie as he nearly always does, with his stand-in getting the (much, much) younger girl. Eww. With Michael Sheen, delicious as an academic know-it-all, Tom Hiddleston perfectly cast as Scott Fitzgerald, and Alison Pill woefully miscast as Zelda.

The outlook for Saturday the 12th:

We may see clashes between individual and group interests, radicalism in love or spending, conflict in relationship over erratic or hyper-independent behavior, and/ or the costs of going our own way, or of implementing what’s new (and perhaps revolutionary) (Venus square Uranus). Our uniqueness and our need for expression conflicts with what relationships or earning requires–darn. The Sun perfects his trine to Sedna, making ‘clairvoyance’ (clear sight) impossible, even with all that direct light–impossible UNLESS we are willing and able to stare unflinchingly into the void (of Self)–then the abyss may share its secrets with the patient and those not distracted with the upsets surrounding love, money, and Self-expression.

And for the 13th:

The Aquarius Moon trines Zeus at 2 AM PST, stimulating the mind with a big dose of mental lust, so to speak; the emotions are swept along with a cascade of exciting ideas–note what they are, as ideas formed now can act as inspiration later, of a kind that you will immediately and strongly respond to, and so carry through with. At noon the Moon trines Ceres, offering a strong internal sense of authority, or the support of external authorities, maternal figures, or nature in fulfilling your efforts. 1 PM PST the Moons squares Sedna. We lose our emotional place, and may suffer a sense of loss. It’s only temporary–allow yourself to drift, if possible. 3 PM PST the Moon quincunxes the Earth and soon thereafter squares the Nodal axis. We may find material matters irritating and requiring adjustments, and these modifications lead us to examine the effectiveness (or not) of the current life path. Let’s count the Void as beginning at 4:40 PM Pacific. The Moon enters Pisces at 2:50 AM PST of the 14th.

Detail from ‘Arnolfini Marriage Portrait’ by Jan Van Eyck 1434 {{PD-Art}}

1 PM PST of the 4th sees the Libra Moon trine Vesta, giving us a chance to re-align to our highest values through intuition or emotion. The Moon squares the Sun-Earth axis (6 PM Pacific) then conjuncts Zeus by 8. We may review our direction and the impact we’re having and vow to apply ourselves to fulfilling ambitions–at the very least, desire is stirred, especially in relationship.

January 5th  Mercurial issues are our ‘blind spot’ today, and this applies also to those things ruled by Mercury in the personal natal chart, including issues of the Houses the Messenger rules: all are potential minefields. Most troublesome may be the way our own or others’ ambitions and desires are highlighted (Sun-Earth axis square Zeus); this could make everything seem much more venal, Self-aggrandizing, or zealous than it actually is–we’d be wise to keep this in mind, both when assessing others and when presenting ourselves.

6 January  Communications (and thought processes) are a problem, and now they come with a warning label: ‘Highly Destructive’ (Mercury conjunct Pluto) UNLESS you keep intent firmly focused on the future as well as the reality situation–then this transit can act to create massive, highly positive changes akin to alchemy (Merc semi-square the North Node, sextile Saturn).

7 January Jupiter quincunx Juno perfects, and sets the stage for a major adjustment to be made, either internally, between our own animus and anima, or externally, likely in some power re-balancing where one side is active, Self-absorbed, and does not take into account the needs or feelings of the other, while the opposite number is passive yet angry and resentful, believing that the current position (or mere existence) requires others to offer a certain amount of deference. Today we must be willing to negotiate, to concede that others have rights, too, and to perhaps apply the theoretical idea of ‘walking a mile’ in the other’s shoes, in order to know whether what we want is really reasonable and fair to all concerned.

30 December sees the Sun perfect conjunction to Pluto and sextile to Saturn. This may be a secondary point of culmination, when any dangling issues from the Full Moon are trimmed up, bringing either irrevocable change (Pluto) or fitting elements into the already extant reality (Saturn). This may not make many waves, but may be definitive in setting circumstances for some time to come.

For Saturday 15 December 2012:

2 AM PST the Capricorn Moon forms the base of a Finger of God with the North Node, apex Earth. This suggests that emotions will translate smoothly into life direction, which will have a direct impact on the material situation. This could be a ‘feel it and it happens’ aspect; or rather, a ‘feel it and it changes our efforts, which impact our material circumstances’. Doesn’t flow as well, but means exactly the same thing. 4 AM PST the Moon sextiles Pallas, infusing the feelings with wisdom (and probably a good dose of patience, too).  Noon Pacific time the Moon sextiles Venus in the 29th degree of Scorpio. This stresses relationships and/ or finances, where we are likely to worry there’s something we don’t know about one or the other. The answer to this may actually precede this contact, at around 11 AM PST when the Moon captures Juno at the midpoint of Moon-Venus. This might show us exactly where our real empowerment status and options lie–and the lesson we should take from this is that it’s easy to forget what we know, when something dear (relationships, funds, assets, our Art) comes under stress.

And for Sunday the 16th:

2 AM of the 16th the Aquarian Moon becomes part of a cascade effect, by squaring Saturn, sextiling Mercury, and semi-sextiling Pluto–which arrangement of course catches Merc at the Saturn-Pluto midpoint. The effect may be one where each of us only sees a portion of the chain–one person experiences repression of emotion (Moon sq Saturn) communicates that (Merc) to another, who perceives it as a destructive or deliberately harmful confession (Pluto), for instance, or where transformative emotions (Moon-Pluto) are not communicated to a father-figure or authority (Saturn-Merc) or where those emotions allow one to break the rules (Saturn-Pluto), for another example.

From the current ECLIPSE, available by subscription:

4 PM of the 8th, Pacific time, there’s a trine of the Libra Moon to the Earth-Vesta conjunction. The effect could be rash action, or choices that go against the emotional grain, that result in a solid, material embodiment of our highest values, or the dedication we have to home and mate. Interesting to inspect those results, as they will tell us what we’re really honoring.

The 9th of December we’re back to familiar upsets and clashes, some of which may arrive in new garb (and so not immediately be recognized as old hat). Mars quincunxes Vesta while Earth conjuncts her and the Sun opposes her; our actions and choices will need to be adjusted, if we’re to take what we consider sacred seriously; it will be obvious what needs to change materially, too, in order to comply with those highest, best values.

Void begins at 11:55 AM Pacific time; the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:51 PM PST on 9 December.

The Moon immediately trines Neptune, starting us off on the journey through Scorpio with a strong dose of intuition, creativity, and/ or easy delusion accepted without even realizing it. Attune to the emotions and feel the creative and spiritual flow.

On December 10th we tell it like it is, with Merc moving into Sagittarius very late in the day, Pacific time–disputes come from varying ideas of ‘Truth’, varying philosophies, or varying information or knowledge levels, and with Merc’s position in 29 degrees Scorpio through most of the day, secrets and hidden matters causing stress or exploded into the light could be the fuel for much communication upset–and a really unusual dynamic accompanies this: Venus opposes Sedna, semi-squares Pluto, and trines Pallas, making for some serious decision-making that may be preternaturally wise even as it’s unconscious, guided from the depths of our Being!

Just a Little AstroEssence for Your Weekend 30 November-2 December 2012: ‘Slightly Too Sentimental’

Relax this weekend, Kittens!  'Kitten's Play' by Ronner-Knip c1870 {{PD-Art}}

Relax this weekend, Kittens! ‘Kitten’s Play’ by Ronner-Knip c1870 {{PD-Art}}

A little something for Friday the 30th, Pacific time:

2 PM PST the Cancer Moon squares Uranus, showing us some dissonance arising from our own too rebellious or individualistic nature or seated in a disagreement with the group. Instinct is pushing us in this direction, but higher reason (a Uranian specialty) should tell us that there can be too much of a good thing. Pull back and gain. 4 PM PST the Moon trines Chiron and Saturn, forming a Grand Water Trine. At this point emotional perceptions, reality, and skills combine and intuit a ‘better way to be’ in the world. A lovely time of balance and discrete adjustment.

Saturday, we welcome December:

Just after midnight Luna  opposes Pluto and then quincunxes the Sun. This may shine a light on a harsh reality, or could find us saying, “I would never!” First, never say never isn’t just for James Bond–we non-spies need to remember that disowning darkness or that which repels us invites that very thing into our lives. In this instance our reaction is an emotional one that is probably rooted in a slightly too sentimental view of the world (Cancer), and can be tamed by simply remembering that we are capable of (but choose not to perpetrate) darkness.

And for Sunday, the 2nd:

The Sun opposes Jupiter, and so the Earth conjuncts it. This marks the midpoint of Jupiter’s retrograde cycle, and may be felt as a turning point in Jupiter-related matters; what was withdrawn or exploded (including overblown expectations!) upon our favorite gas giant’s retrograde will re-awaken, we’ll receive an encouraging word, or we may see developments that point to an inevitable, if delayed, return to similar conditions that existed at the outset. Not usually a big effect, but one that can signal both changes and a change in attitude that can assist us, especially on the social front.

Just a Little AstroEssence for Your Weekend: ‘Opening the Door’

For Friday the 16th:

2 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Pluto, inviting an emotional purge, especially one centered on the things we feel restricted by (Capricorn). A few will use the emotions or intuition to gain power or to destroy, while a handful of others may see a way to transform either the emotional approach or the matters of the House with Cancer on the cusp–if this is you, believe what you see in the ‘doorway’, and step through.

Saturday the 17th:

November 17th the Sun and Mercury meet up in Inferior Conjunction (the meeting that occurs when Merc is retro), and both conjunct the North Node; Mars also sextiles Neptune. This may plant a seed that is specifically oriented toward creative action, either in matters of the House where the Sun-Merc-NN falls (25-26 Scorpio) or in matters of a generally Scorpionic nature–so things that involve research, secrets, mysteries, emotional depths, destruction, re-birth, transformation–and these latter can be of materials or individuals who change or re-make themselves in some way, especially in matters of feeling and ‘heart’. We likely get an energy boost, and start something intense and meaningful to us personally–and perhaps of import to others, as well.

And for Sunday the 18th:

Around 4:30 AM PST the Moon hits the midpoint of Neptune-Mars, which should illuminate, through feeling or intuition, those creative acts, choices, and moves we spawned yesterday. It’s a chance to course-correct so that the whole psyche can support our efforts. 1PM PST the Moon squares Saturn; we either find we need to contain the emotions or we find ourselves hitting a brick wall in the feeling department. Either way it’s almost an invitation to stop trying to navigate everything emotionally, and tune up logic and pure reason–Moon in Aquarius will support this, and we’ll get a fresh, and likely needed, perspective.

A Little Something on the Upcoming Eclipse 13 November 2012: ‘Senseless Sport’

‘Right and Left’ Homer 1909 {{PD-Art}}

New Moon of November 13th at 2:07 PM Pacific Standard time at 21 Scorpio 56 is a Solar eclipse

The Sabian for the eclipse is, ‘Hunters Shooting Wild Ducks’. This suggests something free and wild stalked by, and possibly destroyed by, something predatory–and the something predatory is equipped with ‘arms’ and ‘ammo’ against which the hunted is essentially defenseless. The ‘wild things’ are frightened from their protective cover, made to flee in the hope that they can protect themselves by getting away. Though it may seem obvious, we should note that duck hunting is a very deliberate, planned activity; one does not just happen to take one’s hunting rifle when one is out for a stroll, just happen to flush ducks from their cover, and think, ‘Well, maybe I’ll take a crack at those!’ We must be aware that this may be the underlying state of the previously described conflict (in an earlier paragraph): that the conflict could in fact be one where one party seeks to ‘ambush’, take by surprise, or take advantage of the other. Duck hunting, we must acknowledge, doesn’t very often result in duck on the dinner table–it is instead much more considered, however inappropriately, ‘sport’, and there’s a good chance that if you find yourself as the stalkee, this could indeed be the attitude of the stalk-er. That will make it both very hard to make sense of things, and impossible to drag a reason for such aggression out of the stalk-er; feeling his or her power, they are unlikely to feel the need to justify their choice.

This is part of the eclipse analysis from the latest ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest

‘Oarsmen Rowing on the Yerres’ G. Caillebotte c1878 {{PD-Art}}

Currently we’re looking at a Void now through 12:44 AM PDT tomorrow, November 3rd; Voids typically play out in weird combinations of short-circuited efforts, ennui, low energy, false starts, and sometimes the unanticipated outcome or opportunity. Today seems right on target as I wander listlessly from room to room. Thank goodness it all perks up tomorrow with the Moon’s entry into Cancer, if only by giving us a definite lens through which to inspect our surroundings. As I said in ECLIPSE:

Upon entry of the Moon into Cancer at 12:44 AM PDT of the 3rd, a trine is formed with Neptune that may set the tone for the entire transit of this, the Moon’s own sign. Events may be interpreted through an emotional lens that features fantasy, imagined circumstances, ideals, and/ or deceptions accepted as fact, and confusion is as likely an emotional ‘outlook’ as is taking a creative and imaginative tack with the day. It’s your choice, but then again, it may be rowing against the tide to try and stay super-grounded at this point. Try to channel Neptune’s seminal influence (seminal as it informs the Moon’s transit of the entire sign of Cancer) into some area where you can put creativity fueled by emotions to good use.

And for Sunday the 4th:

November 4th sees Saturn perfect his trine to Ceres and Venus reach sesquiquadrate to Sedna. We may feel a challenging atmosphere surrounding the gentle, receptive, relationship-keyed energies, as well as around those natural powers that are distinctly female; the difficulty may be that either some harder-edged inclination wants to tame, restrict, or contain these influences, or that, especially in the case of a female herself, these influences may simply be ‘forgotten’, for a time. How you react may all depend on your own balance of Saturn (reality-keyed, fixed, rigid, serious and stolid, constructive and constrictive energy) and Venus (relationship and asset-keyed, playful, desiring and affectionate, luxury-loving, jealous and teasing, receptive and symbolically soft and fluid).

I am doing a limited number of Eclipse Reports keyed to the upcoming November eclipses as they affect the individual natal chart. This is a report that zeroes in on what the eclipses might bring forward in your life over the next six months (through to the next eclipse set). Eclipses seem to elaborate themes that manifest through each individual differently, and the chart can be a helpful guide to where in life these will show and how we might best handle them. These reports are delivered by email in PDF form and will look at the ways the eclipse energies ‘light up’ the natal scenario; ideally, the report highlights the issues that will be most prominent for you, and will offer some commentary on other major transits in force at the time that may influence eclipse effects. These are not complete natal assessments, nor are they meant to answer current life questions (though they might, considering the impact eclipses can have)–instead they look at a temporary effect, like an electrical current sent surging through a circuit–until the current is re-directed six months later. That means the reports talk about targeted areas of your chart, with everything written by me personally–no computer generated material is used–but that also means that I get to the point, so if you’re looking for length or excessive verbiage (though I’m certainly capable of it!) these are not typically part of the package. Write me at my name at hotmail.com to inquire about availability–please understand that spaces may go quickly so that I cannot guarantee how long they will be available–cost is $55 for non-subscribers, for paid subscribers it’s $35 (Please, send no money until you’ve contacted me–I will bill you). Please be patient as I answer mail and set up appointments–you will be notified quickly if no space is available, and I will post here as soon as spaces are filled. And if you’d rather get the general eclipse outlook for the first event (the New Moon eclipse of 13 November), plus the detailed daily forecast and more, it’s already available, subscribe now!

Thank You Everyone! All spots are taken–
